"The 2K sports series for Dreamcast continues w/this great game.."
One of the main reasons that I bought a Sega Dreamcast was because of the great Sega Sports series. From NBA 2K to NHL 2K, i knew that the Sega Dreamcast video game console would feature great sports games. So when I did end up buying my Dreamcast, I rented out NBA 2K, just to see if it lived up to ''all the hype''. Well, I rented it, went home and played it. What were my impressions of the game? Perhaps I can tell it best by saying that I now own a copy of NBA 2K. Yes, it was so good, I went out and purchased a copy of it. While I still prefer NBA Live 2000 for the Sony Playstation, I still love NBA 2K, and the create a team is one of the best modes ever in video basketball. Definetly worth either a purchase or rental, depending on how big of a NBA fan you are.
Graphics (9.3/10): The graphics in this game make NBA Live 2000 for the Sony Playstation look like Magic Johnson's Fast Break for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The player models are beautifully rendered, ranging from the logo on the shoes to Latrell Sprewell's dreadlocks. The arenas look great as well, ranging from the Milwaukee Bucks arena to the Wizard's Arena (MCI Center, peeps!) Great graphical effects that show off the power of the Dreamcast
Music/Sound (8.9/10): The commentary is fantastic in the game and beats out similar commentary in NBA Live 2000. The sound effects are also very good, ranging from the dribbling of the ball to the voice acting done by the players. The music featured in the game has a nice beat to it, and has that ''new attitude of the NBA'' feel. The music and sound effects are great
Gameplay/Control (9.3/10): The only reason worth buying a game is gameplay, not graphics and sound effects. At least that is my opinion. So even though NBA 2K features great graphics and music, it wouldn't mean a damn thing if the gameplay wasn't up to snuff. Thankfully, the gameplay is great. The create a team mode is definetly cool and adds variety to the game. NBA 2K features all the modes needed, and overall the game does a great job of delivering the type of gameplay to the Dreamcast. The 2nd best basketball game ever in terms of gameplay
Replay Value: High
Overall (9.2/10): NBA 2K delivers with solid gameplay, outstanding music, great graphics, and great replay value. Well worth a purchase if you are a NBA fan.
