NFL Blitz 2000
Review by georgedagreat
"All hell breaks loose in NFL Blitz 2000!"
NFL Blitz 2000 is made by Midway. Blitz isn't any ordinary football game though. Sure, it has touchdowns and field goals but its very unrealistic. In Blitz to earn a first down you must get 30 yards instead of 10. It may seem hard but its not. After each touchdown, 3-point field goal or safety there is an automatic kick. Which means you don't kick the ball. Blitz automatically kicks the ball for you. There is a secret way to do an onside kick but I never use it. After each play you can hit your opponent with wrestling moves such as a leg drop or body slam.
Doing field goals and punts are incredibly difficult and needs very good timing. When you are about to do a field goal there is a horizontal bar with a green dot in the middle and a red dot moving left and right. In order to do the field goal you must get the red dot on or at least near the green dot. The red dot moves incredible fast so its not very easy. And you can only do a field goal when you in enemy territory. When you are doing a punt there is a vertical bar with a fire that goes up and down. To do a strong punt you have to get the fire high. If you fail to do that and the fire is down it will be a very weak punt.
In Blitz there is a Turbo bar. When you hold the turbo bar you move faster. When you hold the turbo button it gets lower and eventually it will all be gone. Blitz has an ''On-Fire'' mode which gives you unlimited turbo. To get on-fire mode you must either make 3 successful passes to the same receiver in a row or sack the quarter back 2 times in a row. The CPU must earn a first down or score to make you lose on-fire mode. You can lose on-fire mode by getting a safety, losing yardage, or going for it on 4th down and not succeeding.
In Blitz there are four modes. They are Arcade, Tournament, Season and Play Editor. Arcade is the same as exhibition. Pick a team and verse another team. In Tournament you go against other teams to win the Blitz Championship. Its similar to the WWF Pay-Per-View King of the Ring. In Season you go against other teams in a 17 week schedule then if you had more wins than losses you go to the playoffs. If you lose during the playoffs you get eliminated which means you can't go to the Super Bowl. If you do go to the Superbowl and win it that means you just beat the game. In Play Editor you can create you own plays and name them. Read on please.
Graphics 10/10
The graphics in Blitz is spectacular. The color is done fine and the whole stadium looks great. The crowd also looks great.
Sound 10/10
The music in Blitz is well done. The music sounds great and its never bad. The sound in Blitz is very good. The commentary is so cool and its crystal clear. Lines such as ''Illegal Hit!'' and ''Is that necessary?'' add to the fun.
Control 10/10
The control in Blitz is marvelous. On offence B is to hike the ball. Then you have to use the Joystick or Direction pad (D-Pad) to pass. You point to a receiver and when that receiver is flashing you press the B button to pass. When running A is jump, Left Trigger is Turbo and B is pass(In Blitz you can pass even if your not the Quarterback). Left Trigger + A is super jump and Left Trigger + B is stiff arm. When you press the Left Trigger button twice you spin. On defense the Joystick or D-Pad is move. B is to change player, A is dive tackle, and Left Trigger + B is super tackle. Overall the controls are excellent.
Challenge 10/10
This game is a very hard game. It has 3 levels of difficulty. Easy, Medium and Hard. If you never played Blitz before easy will be hard to you. On medium its hard and frustrating. On hard its incredibly frustrating. Even though it has a big challenge its still fun.
Replay Value 10/10
The replay value in Blitz is great. You will find yourself playing Blitz for a long time and the fun is endless when you play with other people.
