"What a Game for Being on Such a Small Budget"

I am still trying to learn some Japanese, therefore I couldn't reveal much of the story line even if I wanted to.

Graphics: These graphics are great. The character models are very well done. Their expressive movements are exaggerated for effect being that there is no voice-acting (It's like watching a silent movie). The textures are effective and well spread out when they are reused. I do not remember seeing any slowdown in this game at all. The one thing that I noticed mainly about graphical quality is that it seemed another frame of animation could be used to complete the running movement. There is also almost no FMV I this game. If you are looking for something more cinematic, try Shenmue or a more conventional RPG.

Sound: As I said there is no voice acting in this game besides a few grunts and battle noises. Other sound effects are recorded well, but sometimes you get the impression they could have used other things for more effective effects. I would also like to say that I love the intro song, it is incredibly quirky but that is why I like it.

Control: This game controls very well. Although it would be great if the character interacted more with his environment. For example when the hero runs into a wall, a shock animation to show the effect.

Game play: The menus can be confusing if A) you know absolutely no Japanese B) you do not have a good walk through. Having to stumble around on the menus can be frustrating, like when you are trying to set up a move for combat. Bottom line, you should delve into this game with at least a basic knowledge of Japanese.

OVERALL: I am aware that this game does not compare very well to games such as Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia. I would like to mention that this game was produced on a very small budget. This is because they knew it would be well-liked by the fans of Rent A Hero on the Master System. It does, however match them if not surpass them in the humor department. Buy this game if you are looking for a fun, interesting, low-budget, niche, game. Keep in mind that it would not do well to wait for the American release because this game will not be released in the States. If you do choose to buy it... You will laugh, because sometimes all the in-jokes aside, the animation is just as good and funny.
