Sonic Adventure
Review by JGuarneri
"Get this game. Now."
This beutiful free-movement game is helping launch Sega's unrivaled masterpiece: the Sega Dreamcast. An improvement upon the old Sonic games while still keeping the ''run, run, run!'' basis, this helps showcase Dreamcast's improved graphics, speed, and capabilities, and sets a new standard for Action/Adventure games.
With excellent graphics and the same gameplay the Sonic games created (as well as a few new elements, such as level-up items and video sequences), this is a game for everyone. With six playable characters and a host of new levels, this game is maintaining dominance in the Action/Adventure genre. The characters include old favorites like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, while new characters Amy, Big, and Gamma introduce new gaols for players to achieve. Each character has their own individual moves like the homing attack (Sonic) and the rapid tails attack (Tails), plus manuvers and a unique storyline for each individual character. This game also introduces the A-life system which allows you to raise ''Chao Craetures,'' small creatures you raise from an egg.
One of the few bad points this game has is the frequent occurences where you're playing a level where another character's moves would come in handy, and since each level (Adventure Fields do not count) is different for each character, you can't go back with the character who does allow access to that area or power-up.
GAME RATING:
Graphics: 10/10 (SWEET Graphics)
Gameplay: 10/10 (This game will keep you busy for a while)
Sound: 10/10 (Sound is perfect quality, despite a sometimes kiddish soundtrack)
Control: 10/10 (Excellent response time)
Overall: A perfect 10.
