Sonic Adventure
Review by solidsnake696
"The Little Blue Spike-Head is Back and is Better Than Ever"
As I anticipated for 9999, I was thinking to myself..."Hmm...should I just go ahead with it and just spend fifty more bucks and get another game on launch day?"...I then told myself..."Damn it, just do it fool, resistance is futile." Then I thought about the power of Dreamcast and I should just go with the little voices in my head... Wait a minute what voices? Oh well I'll just get another game with my system. What should the lucky GD be? I thought about two titles, Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure. Two great games, not enough money. I decided to get Sonic becuase I was also getting Ready 2 Rumble and didn't want anoter fighter. However, I did not regret getting SA.
I never really liked any of the Sonic titles but I had a gut instinct that this game would be a winner (I also read a lot of pre-reviews) and I wasn't wrong. This game is incredible! I never played many titles like it before.
First of all, what is really sweet is that you can play as 6 different characters, all with unique abilities and missions. The game opens with a really special and cool movie (I would tell you more but, no spoilers here). The graphics in this game are amazing. Everything is done in great detail and almost no slowing down at all. This time around you get to move in full 3D areas. The game's levels give you vast worlds to explore and each one is equally beautifully done.
Did I mention the speed of this game? It's almost like an incredibly out-of-control racer. A lot of the time you are zooming past things like no body's buisiness. The music in this game also adds a real energetic feel to it.
I didn't give this game a 10 because of minor flaws. First, the camera still hasn't been perfected from the Japanese version but is still better the lip sink is kind of off when there is dialogue sometimes and sometimes the game gets a little confusing but this is very rare.
The mini game is a pretty cool feature in this game too. It is like a game all itself, a little like a 3D Nano pet. The point of the game is to raise these little cute Chaos and it is pretty cool. You need to use Sega Net to download it onto your VMU in order to play it.
Sonic Adventure is a game that can be enjoyed by many and is like one gigantic roller coaster ride. This is a top title to own if you are going to get a Dreamcast. So what are you waiting for? Get your sorry booty up and buy this thing already!
