"The most hilarious strategy game to date makes it's way to the Dreamcast"

WORMS ARMAGEDDON

I remember when I used to play the old Worms on my PC. Those little bugs were only a few pixels large, but still the game had some great visuals. Not that it al looked very good, but that it was funny. It never stopped to amuse me to see how three or more worms were blasted into the air after a full hit by a homing missile. It was a feast for the eye to see them flying throw the air. And those voices, it was just marvellous to here them scream “Take cover!” just before a grenade exploded.
And now one of the latest editions to the Worms series has made it’s way to the Dreamcast. We can now enter hilarious deathmatches in which up to 16 worms kill each other with guns, grenades, baseball bats, missiles and what not. The special weapons are definitely worth trying. You can hit a cowardly hiding worm with an Homing Pigeon, spread mayhem across the level with the Super Banana bomb or send several worms flying with the destructive Holy grenade. You can also move through the levels with ninja robes, jetpacks, parachutes and teleports. Watch out for the mines though, and don’t fall into the water. The graphics have also changes, the worms are now seen in comic style. There aren't as funny as before, in my opinion, but they still do the job.
All the worms still have those lovely voices, and you can choose what accent they have. You can also create your own team, and can keep statistics of every match. You can create countless different levels, and give the worms various weapons.
One thing does annoy me of this game, and that is the matches against the CPU. The computer always knows exactly how to throw a grenade so that it explode right in your face, so it gets near impossible at the higher levels. And most annoying is that it can take the CPU more then twenty seconds before it takes action. Also, some things are missing from the PC version. A few weapons (the flamethrower for instance) and the replays are gone. To bad.
But still, this game has much to offer, especially if you bring three friends over. It’s a killer when you play with four teams at the same time. If you see this game as a budget title, BUY IT!

+ Simply the most hilarious strategy game to date
+ Worms are still funny
+ Offers lots of addictive gameplay

- Playing against the computer isn’t much fun
