"Lord have mercy....."

This game gets a 2. I really thought it was bad. I am not a huge basketball fan, but I always thought the games were fun and plus, I got it in a package of Dreamcast stuff I ordered from the Internet. If you are a diehard fan of the NBA or basketball on its own, then this game may turn out better for you, but for me.... well, read on to find out.

Graphics: 05/10
Yeah, they weren't that bad, but they are not that great compared to the graphics of the modern day. However, I am not rating based on comparison. But still in all, I think they deserve a five. They are like the graphics you could expect from an early-released Playstation game. Sort of square and a bit choppy. The movement of the figures was acceptable, as you could see bending and motion withing the joints, such as elbows and knees when dribbling and shooting. The colors are acceptable, as well. The graphics sure float this boat, but as I say, the graphics don't make the game, it is the gameplay (and that is another story).

Gameplay: 01/10
That is right, it got a one. The gameplay was horrible. There was no exhibition mode where you could choose to be a team and play against another one for fun. If you wanted to do that, then you had to WATCH the two teams playing each other. So, it turns out that if you want and action with the ball, you had to play a 3-point shoot out or a tournament, which took forever. The controls, to make things worse, were not that great. Okay, I suppose, but certainly not great. They were laid out and explained well, but they never actually..... worked. You had to get right up in someone's face to steal the ball which worked... maybe 2/30 times that you tried. As you can see, the gameplay was a downfall of this game.

Sounds: 3/10
They could definitely be bested. Every now and then, random music would start playing. For example, if someone stole the ball, this voice would come out of nowhere and yell ''HHOOOOO''. If you sank a 3-point shot, another voice would scream something else, and if you blocked a shot, you would get to hear, ''ALL BALL, BABY!'' (as can also be heard on a commercial on television, today, as I noticed).

Overview
This is a game that you are going to want to pass up. If someone gives it to you, then I suppose you might want to take it, because I sold it for (I think) four dollars at a local videogame store. If you are at a friend's house, and they are playing it, go ahead and try it. Like some other Dreamcast sports games, this one could be used to shoot skeet with. No, I am joking. If they are playing it, give it a try, you may think it is good.
