Main Walkthrough (Continued)

Castelia City Sewers - Autumn or Winter

Head down the steps to your north. Now follow the path west until you come upon two sets of stairs. As you may as well make the most of teaming up with Hugh, it's better to take the south set of stairs first and explore all that you can before heading up the north set. Therfore, move up the southern set. Once you reach the top, you'll see a person to your west who will stop you from moving past him until you defeat the Team Plasma Grunts in the Sewers. Don't worry about him just yet and head south instead. When you see a thin set of stairs leading down to the area below, move down them.

Head south until you reach the stairs leading up west. Move up them and grab the X Sp. Def from the platform above. Move back down the stairs and head south, then west. Keep going until you reach the point where there is a path leading north and another south. The south one's a dead end, so head north, moving up the stairs when you come upon them. Near the top of the stairs you'll find a Worker.

Trainer Battle: Worker Zack

Once he's defeated, head north past him, down the stairs taking you west and back up the next set. Here you'll find a Doctor! Talk to him if you want a fight.

Trainer Battle: Doctor Heath
PokemonLevelType
Sewaddle17Bug/Grass
Reward:$1020

From now on, anytime that you talk to the Doctor that you just defeated, he will heal your Pokemon. As your Pokemon already automatically heal between battles because you're travelling with Hugh, there's little need for this though. Move right, past the door. You'll notice another item on the ground. Move over and pick it up. It's some Leftovers. Now enter the door that you just moved past. Inside, a scientist will give you a random healing item from a small range of possible ones. You can return here once per day to receive another. Once you're received it, leave the room.

Backtrack past the Worker and head down the steps near him. Now continue on north, then east. You'll reach some stairs. Move up them and take on the nearby Scientist.

Trainer Battle: Scientist Caroline

There's nothing in the room next to her, so head back down the steps, then head west, south, east and finally north until you reach the steps that you first came down. Continue south along the path here until you reach the Janitor. Battle time!

Head past him and move down the steps at the end. Follow west along the path until you reach the very end. Move up the stairs here and take on the worker.

Afterwards, grab the Pearl obscured in the alcove to the Worker's east. Now backtrack all the way back past the Janitor back to where you had to choose between the two sets of stairs near the start of the area. This time, move up the northern set. Head west until you reach the TwistedSpoon, which you should pick up. Move toward the Rocket Grunts to your north. After speaking with them you'll enter into a Double Battle.

Double Battle: Team Plasma Grunt & Team Plasma Grunt
PokemonLevelType

The Grunts will scram after you defeat them... and Burgh, the Gym Leader will appear! After talking, Hugh will give you HM04, which teaches Strength. He will soon leave. A strange man will then appear from the door to your north and promptly leave. It's your first interaction with Colress! Finally, Burgh lets you know that he's now back in his Gym and also leaves.

It's now back to single battles again. If you enter the door to your north, you will enter an entirely separate area known as Relic Passage. This is only part of the Relic Passage known as Relic Passage - Castelia City Sewers Entrance. It isn't too big and has a few trainers and a few nice wild Pokemon, so you might consider exploring it. If you wish to explore it, do so, otherwise exit the sewers at the same place that you entered it.

This area won't take too long to explore, but you'll earn a bit from it. You'll notice that there are two paths leading north. Take the eastern one until you reach the steps, then head down them. There's a female Scientist here who's looking for a battle.

Once she's defeated, head north past her, then west. When you reach the end you'll find a Hard Stone. Grab it, move back to the Scientist and turn your Dowsing MCHN on. Head south past the steps. The MCHN will pick up a hidden item, an Escape Rope! Grab it then head back to the steps, move up them and backtrack to the entrance. This time take the western path north. You'll come upon a second Scientist who's walking back and forth and spinning around.

To the Scientist's north, behind the rocks, is another Escape Rope. Move over and collect it then head back to the Scientist and head west. You'll come upon a Backpacker. He's the final trainer for the area.

After Kenneth's defeated, there's nothing else to do in this area, from this entrance at least. You may be coming back here later on to finish off though. Until then, exit back into the Castelia City Sewers and from there back into Castelia City itself.

Back out on the dock, Iris will talk to you once again. From here, leave the dock and go and heal your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center. When you're ready to, head over to the Gym.

Inside the Gym, speak to Clyde to receive your Fresh Water. Burgh's Gym is absolutely filled with silk, which is actually used to transport players to different locations. Entering a silk cacoon, you'll be transported along the length of silk that connects to the cacoon in the direction that you were facing (eg. if you are facing north when you enter the cacoon, you'll move along the silk extending north from the cacoon). With that in mind, you should be able to tackle this gym with little to no problem. Trainer's will be spread throughout the gym as normal, so be prepared for a few battles.

Burgh's Gym is based around Bug-Type Pokemon, if you haven't already guessed. The trainers here also have some quite high-level Pokemon, substantially higher than what you've been facing thus far. If you feel that you need to train some more, do some more training in the Castelia City Sewers or at Route 4.

Enter the first cacoon from the south entrance. You'll move up to the centre of the second floor. Now move right. Your first battle is against the Harlequin here.

Once he's defeated, continue right and enter the cacoon at the end. You'll warp to the third floor. It may seem like you can't do anything here, but try and move in front of the cacoon to your south-east. A second Harlequin will jump out and challenge you.

The Harlequin created an entrance to the cacoon when he broke out, so you can now enter it. Do so and you'll warp back down to the bottom floor. Yet another Harlequin is guarding the side entrance for this one, so you have to take him on.

Once he's defeated, move over to the next cacoon. This time, enter the entrance on the left side. You'll now be in Burgh's personal cacoon! The situations that you get into in Pokemon games. *shakes head* Anyway, you may want to rest and restock your items at the Pokemon Center first. Luckily, if you drop into the hole in the floor located on the west side of Burgh's cacoon, you will skip straight back to the start of the gym. You can now use the cacoon that you just came out of at any time to easily warp back to Burgh's cacoon. When you're ready, talk to Burgh. After a few words are exchanged the battle against the third Gym Leader begins!

The most recommended Pokemon for your battle against Gym Leader Burgh are your Fire-Types and your Flying-Types. Moves of these types are effective against both Bug and Grass-Types and as two of Burgh's Pokemon are Bug/Grass Dual Types, any Fire or Flying moves will deal four times the damage they normal would! How awesomesauce!

It's recommended that your party averages about Lv.17 or higher. It's also recommended that your Fire and Flying-types are a couple to a few levels higher, but isn't necessary.

Begin the battle with one of your Fire or Flying-types and use moves of those types against Swadloon. Persist until it's defeated (it shouldn't be too hard). If it reaches a point where it's low on HP, Burgh will use a Hyper Potion on it to heal it. If this happens, simply keep attacking. If it doesn't use it on his Swadloon, he'll likely use it on one of his other Pokemon.

When Burgh sends out Dwebble, switch to one of your less valuable Pokemon. Obviously almost all of your types, including Fire and Flying-types, will only deal neutral damage against Burgh's Dwebble, so it can be a hard slog to take it out. A good choice would be to use your Magnemite as his Steel-type moves deal double damage. If you if you picked the Water-Type Oshawott as your starter you can also use it to deal double damage. Use these Pokemon first, followed by all but your valuable Fire and Flying-types until it's eventually defeated.

Last up is Burgh's Leavanny. Switch back to one of your Flying or Fire-Types as he switches his Pokemon in. Although it's a couple of levels higher than the Swadloon and a deal more powerful, use the same tactics as before and you should still defeat it with relatively little trouble. When Leavanny's HP drops below half in this battle, it will use the Sitrus Berry that it holds to heal some of its health. This should pose minimal hindrance though.

As you can see, this battle's fairly straight forward. Abuse type match-ups, win.

Once you've defeated Gym Leader Burgh, he will reward you with your third badge, the Insect Badge! Fist pump to celebrate! As a secondary reward, he will also give you TM76, which happens to teach Struggle Bug. Finally, any traded Pokemon up to Lv. 40 will now obey you! His final line before he stops speaking will be 'I'm the guy to tell you this. It's the little things that count' (the best quote of the game!). Once you've finished speaking with him, use the hole on the left side of the room to warp back to the beginning of the Gym. Fist bump Clyde as you walk past him and leave the Gym.

Go heal your Pokemon then get ready to head north. Head to Castelia City's north exit. As you're about to move up the straight past the fountain, someone will stop you, the man from the Castelia City Sewers. They'll ask you a couple of questions, presumably about your Pokemon. Respond with 'Yes' or 'No' to either question (it doesn't appear to matter), then continue on towards the exit. When you reach the exit, move through out into Route 4!

Route 4

Depending on what version you're playing, Route 4 will differ in aesthetics, wild Pokemon and Pokemon trainers, so two different walkthroughs are needed to guide you through this area, depending on which version you're using. Simply scroll down and continue on if you're playing Pokemon Black Version 2. If you're playing White 2, skip ahead to the Route 4 - Pokemon White Version 2 section and continue on from there.

Once Yasuko is defeated, you can choose to either take the path left, into the sandy area, or continue north. It's assumed that you take the path left. You'll encounter Colress, the man who stopped you as you were leaving Castelia City. He notes that there are some Crustle blocking the path ahead and uses it as an opportunity to make use of a machine that he's developed which causes the Crustle to flee. Once they've fleed he initiates a battle!

After the battle, Colress will flee himself, but not without giving you a Protein first. Once he's left, continue north up the road. You can enter the first building on the right when you reach it, but you won't find any valuable items or services, so feel free to continue on. Enter the second one on your right. on the second floor, next to the television, you'll find a Wide Lens. The woman on the first floor is looking for a Pokemon with a particular trait. Once you're done here, leave the second building.

Continue north along the road and enter the building on the left of the path. On the second floor is a man who'll give you a Sitrus Berry if you talk to him. Do so, then leave. Continue on and enter the final building, on the right side of the road at the T-junction. The woman on the bottom floor will let you choose a Pokemon and will return a name of another Pokemon in your party. It's unsure what the relationship is between the input and output, but it will be added in future updates. Exit the building when you're done.

The sign on the north-west corner of the T-junction shows a Trainer Tip. You might want to read it to help you within the Pokemon world. Once you're done, you can either choose to head north and enter Join Avenue and then Nimbasa City or head west and explore the rest of Route 4. This walkthrough assumes that you will explore the rest of the area. If you don't want to, simply skip ahead to Join Avenue.

Along the road leading west is a patrolling Policeman. If you move into his vision, he will challenge you to a battle.

You can enter it and talk to the woman inside to heal your party whenever you wish. From there, move back east and walk down the steps to the south of the road.

You're in another sandy area. Move south and go up the stairs leading west when you reach them. Move north between the partially-constructed building and ridge until you reach the end of the thin path. Click 'A' when you're adjacent and looking at the final tile to find a Red Shard. Go back and move back down the steps. Move east, then south. There's another Policeman to battle here.

Just before the stairs is a secret item. Turn your Dowsing MCHN on and move until you're on it, then move to a tile adjacent face the tile and press 'A' to find a Hyper Potion. The final items are through a gap in between the fence on the right and some girders, a little before the Hooligans.

Walk through the gap and into the deep sand. Turn your Dowsing MCHN on and use it to find the second last item, a Yellow Shard. Now move a little further east in this deep sand area. The Dowsing MCHN will show up yet another item. Move over to it and press 'A' on the tile it's on to find some more Stardust. If it's Thursday today, head east from the two Hooligans. That's it for the entirety of Route 4! From here, you can head back to the house with the lady who heals you Pokemon and then choose to either head north past the house into Desert Resort or head back east, before taking the path north at the T-junction and heading to Nimbasa City. If you want to skip straight to there, click the internal link, otherwise continue on to the walkthrough covering Desert Resort!

Route 4 - Pokemon Black Version 2 - Surf Required

Once you've obtained Surf, you can return here to do a little more exploring. Enter Route 4 from its southern Castelia City entrance. Remember that the Pokemon Breeder at the beginning of the entrance will want to battle you. If you wish to, feel free to move in front of her. If not, move past her as far west as you can (ie. move past her one tile east of the Hiker). Once you're past, move off into the sand taking you west between the two buildings. Move north-west through the sandy area, then head down the stairs and you're at the water! There's no items or the like to get, but feel free to Surf around on the water and enjoy yourself.

If you're going back through all of the previous areas that required Surf back before you had it, the next area to explore is Lostlorn Forest - Surf Required! Fly to Nimbasa City and head out through the north-east exit to get there! You'll be in Route 16. If you don't remember how to reach Lostlorn Forest, or if you haven't yet explored it, use the Route 16 section as a guide to reach it.

Once you're done here, backtrack to the main road and instead take the path north. Make sure you're prepared for a battle before venturing forward.

Now head north, down the stairs. Follow the path along to the Twins. Instead of taking them on immediately, head into the Deep Sand to their west. Turn on your Dowsing MCHN and use it to find the Red Shard hidden around here. Once you have it, head into the small building to your north-west.

Inside you'll find a woman that will mimic a Pokemon's cry and ask you to identify which of your party Pokemon's cries she emulated. If you guess correctly, you receive a Poke Toy. Wonderful! Once you have it, head back outside and head back over to the Twins. Move in front of them and they'll ask you to battle.

Once you've taken it, backtrack to the intersection. Head north up the stairs and onto the proper road. You'll see a male Backpacker walking in circles here. He's as good as any for a battle!

That's it for the entirety of Route 4! From here, you can head back to the house with the lady who heals you Pokemon and then choose to either take the path to Roland's west, leading to Desert Resort or the path to his right, leading to Nimbasa City via Join Avenue. If you want to skip straight to Join Avenue or Nimbasa City, click the appropriate link, otherwise let's head into Desert Resort!

Route 4 - Pokemon White Version 2 - Surf Required

Once you've obtained Surf, you can return here to do a little more exploring. Enter Route 4 from its southern Castelia City entrance. Follow the path along, north then west. Remember that the Pokemon Breeder here will want to battle you. If you wish to, feel free to move in front of her. If not, you can move through the Deep Sand to her south to circumvent her. Once you're past her head down the stairs to the west and you're at the water!

After moving under the highway north of the shack of the lady that heals your Pokemon, the landscape will change rapidly, leaving you in what feels like a vast desert. This place is quite ironically known as Desert Resort. Follow the path past the two people until you reach the gate. Enter it and continue through to the other side. The Deep Sand before the gate contains slightly different Pokemon than within the Desert itself, so be aware of this.

You should get a reading on your Dowsing MCHN again. Follow it to find a Ground Gem! On this dune also resides the entrance to Relic Castle - Desert Resort Entrance. Join Avenue

Before you reach Nimbasa City, you must first visit Join Avenue. This place replaces the normal gate that you'd find before a city. Join Avenue acts as a hub for the avatars of people that you battle online, so as soon as you play a battle online, this place begins to have a use. Until then however, the building remains empty.

As I haven't yet had the chance to play online, this section isn't yet complete. Check back in the future for detailed information on what you can do in this area.

Once you enter for the first time, there's a bit to do, even if you haven't yet played online. Move forward to be greeted by a suited man surrounded by some girls. After conversing for a while, the man will ask you a question. Answer 'Yes' to it and the dialogue will advance. After you continue talking to him, he will eventually ask you to name two things. The first is your favourite phrase and the second is something you'd say when you're impressed.

After that, one of the girls will perk up and talk with the man. Two of the girls and the man will then leave, leaving you with a blue-haired pair. They'll ask you what you'd like to be called whenever you're in the Avenue. Once you do, conversation will end and you'll be free to go! Exit to Nimbasa City!

Nimbasa City

Move forward, up the steps into the city itself. At the junction, take the path west. Continue until you reach the Pokemon Center. Feel free to heal yourself and do whatever else you need to. Make sure to talk to the man to the right of the Nurse's counter, as he'll give you a Red Shard. Now it's time to explore Nimbasa City!

Attempt to enter the building to the left of the Pokemon Center and a girl will come out and stand in the doorway. This building's the Battle Institute, but cannot be entered until for quite a while yet. For now, move around so that you're behind the Pokemon Center. Now move down to the left side of it. You'll notice that your Dowsing MCHN is picking up a reading. Pick up the Thunderstone left next to the Pokemon Center. Move north and enter the building to your left, the one at the end of the street. Go up the stairs onto the second floor. Talk to the old woman and if the first Pokemon in your party is happy enough, she'll give you a Soothe Bell. Exit this building and enter the one next door.

Go up to the second floor of this one and talk to the blue-haired guy. He'll give you a Sun Stone. Exit the building. Now go back to the Pokemon Center and take the path east. You'll see a person standing in front of a building to the north of the path. The person is the main character that you didn't pick to play as (ie. the one of the opposite gender). The character's standing off against two men, one in white and one in black. Go up and talk to the person. They'll ask if you wish to help her fight these two men in a 2-on-2 battle to gain access to the Subway. If you're willing, answer 'Yes' and the battle will soon commence.

After beating them, you'll converse with them. They'll leave, then you'll converse with the character. From them you'll receive the Vs. Recorder! You can use that to record online battles and such, so it's nice to have! The character will then enter Battle Subway, also known as Gear Station.

Move back to the Pokemon Center and take the path north, over the bridge. You'll see Big Stadium immediately north of you when you cross the bridge. You can enter the Stadium and battle trainers once per day but not during event hours (which vary from day to day). There are always at least three battles available and are usually against the sportspeople. The type of sportsperson that you're against depends on the day, and the level of their Pokemon is dependent on your badge count. Small Court, which is next to Big Stadium functions in the same way, but has different sports and different event hours. Check either of these sections by clicking on the link to them for information on which trainers you can battle on which day with your current badge count.

East of Big Stadium is the Musical Theater, where the player can partake in Pokemon Musicals. Information on Pokemon Musicals will be added in the future, but feel free to join in and try it out. You can only join in after defeating Elesa however. There is a TM in here though. Walk to your right and talk to the lady along the back wall, next to the Vending Machines. She'll give you TM49 - Echoed Voice. Everyone else are stingy bastards, so leave.

If you continue west along this strip, you'll reach the gate leading to Route 5. If you're looking to train before you face Elesa, this city's gym leader, this is one of the places to go as there are trainers that should be around your level. If you continue east along this strip, you'll reach the gate leading to Route 16. Route 16's trainers are a about the same level as Route 5's, but there are many more of them and the area leads into Lostlorn Forest, where even more trainers are, as well as some nice Grass- and Bug-types. Before you consider challenging the New Nimbasa City Gym, I'd seriously suggest training your Pokemon in these areas first. A recommended level of about 26 or 27 (or higher obviously) is suggested when taking on Elesa, the Gym Leader. If you talk to the Black Belt at the gate to Route 16, he'll give you a Macho Brace, so make sure you collect that off of him.

The only thing left to check out is the amusement park, which contains the Rondez-View Ferris Wheel, the Old Nimbasa City Gym and the new Nimbasa City Gym. Go and enter it (it's near the entrance to Nimbasa City). As soon as you enter, move south, off of the path. You'll find a Dropped Item. Well, me must find who the owner is! That will come later, though Move back onto the path and follow it east. Just past the Old Nimbasa City Gym are two Vending Machines. Next to them is a bin. Look in it to find a Revive. Follow the path along, past the Ferris Wheel.

When the path turns north, continue moving east, onto the grass. You'll see a giant Pokemon statue. To the right of it is an item. Move over and grab it to find that it's a Parlyz Heal. Now move back to the Ferris Wheel.

The Rondez-View Ferris Wheel is another daily event. Each day you can battle the trainer standing at the base of the ferris wheel once. The trainer you battle each day depends on gender and on what season it is. The possible battles are as follows:

To battle the trainer, talk to him or her and answer 'Yes' when asked. The battle will commence. After defeating a trainer, you will take a ride on the Ferris Wheel with them. Afterwards you'll be free to go on your way! As a suggestion, I'd recommend first tackling Old Nimbasa City Gym, then taking on Route 5 and Route 16 before finally challenging the New Nimbasa City Gym. This will allow you to train up to a standard that's able to defeat Elesa, the gym leader. Let's first head to Old Nimbasa City Gym. Skip over the following section covering Anville Town if you've already explored it, or don't wish to.

Anville Town

The only way to have gotten here is from the Battle Subway found in Nimbasa City. There's barely anything that you can do here, but there's still a couple of interesting things and a total of one item that you can grab! Head north-west from the train, up the steps. You'll be on a viewing platform overlooking a train on display, which trains from day to day. If you talk to the Worker on this platform and answer 'Yes' to his question, he will proceed to tell you about the train that's currently on display. It's all very interesting stuff.

Once you're done there, head east onto the grassy part with the three houses. Enter the south-eastern of the three houses and speak to the Depot Agent inside. He'll talk for a while then hand you a Rare Candy. Yay! Guess what? That's it! The only other thing you can really do is head back to the Depot Agent at the train, talk to him and answer 'Yes' when asked if you want to head back to Battle Subway. You'll end up back at Gear Station. Feel free to do what you want from there!
