SAWARU! MADE IN WARIO

INTRODUCTION
===============================================================================

Nintendo said it best - touching is good. And hence, Sawaru takes one of the
best games ever and applies something good to it. Hence, we can use mathematics
to determine that Awesome + Good = Godly. And that is what we have with Sawaru.
Many people are skeptical about the DS - the touch screen, the two screens, the
microphone and the lack of batteries dying. Sawaru proves them all wrong, it
alone has justified the DS for me. This is a game that comes as close to
perfection as is possible.

What is Sawaru? Sawaru is, like the other Made in Wario games, a collection of
little minigames. Each takes a few seconds. That's it, a few seconds for each
game. The objective is to, well, have fun. Clear as many games as you can. The
basic layout is simple, you select a set of minigames (or a lone minigame) and
try to clear as many as possible without losing horribly. That's it. Really.

The aim of this FAQ is not to write a walkthrough - that's impossible. It's
here to try and get English speakers through a Japanese game. Because this is a
game worth playing, it is horrendously fun, and the worst thing I can think of
is not being able to do part of it because you don't know what the hell you're
doing. This game demands to be played.

Enough wittering on my part. Let's do this thing.

What's a search code? It's a way of jumping straight to the information you
want. Open up the Find function on your browser (Ctrl+F in most common Windows
browsers) and put in the five digit code. Search, and assuming the file has
fully loaded you should be right where you want to be in a couple of clicks.

GAMEPLAY, CONTROLS & MODES OF PLAY (XAGCM)
===============================================================================

Forget the buttons here, folks. You won't need buttons. At all. The entire game
is controlled using the touchscreen and, uhh, making a noise. That's it. It
should go without saying that as this game is a collection of vastly varied
minigames, there's no one control method. Each game is controlled differently,
but all of them use either the touchscreen, the microphone, or very rarely both
of them in unison, but I'll explain how each game is controlled in it's little
section. Ain't I nice? The only other control you need is the start button (if
you use the stylus with your left hand) or the up arrow key (if you use your
right) to pause the game.

When you load up the game, tap the screen to skip the intro and hit the big
blue button marked Start (in Japanese) that appears at the bottom. You'll be
asked which hand you favour when using the stylus in games, hit the left button
if you favour the left hand and *gasp* the right button if you favour the right
hand, then just hit OK to confirm. You'll then be forced to enter Wario's level
so skip ahead and go read that. But afterwards, you'll be presented with the
menu and 4 or 5 buttons at the bottom. Let's just run through them.

The first button is "Game", and it's blue. In this mode, you'll be presented
with the various characters in the game. Each one is tied to a set of themed
minigames, like microphone-based games, dragging touch, etc. Simply tap the
character on the touch screen to bring up a two-item menu. The first option in
blue, "Hajimero", begins their set of games, and the second in red, "Yamero",
is the cancel button. The characters have a habit of walking around the screen,
so you can use the orange button at the bottom right, "Seiretsu", to move them
back into formation. Unlocked bonuses will also appear here, but we'll get onto
those later.

Once you begin a character's level, you'll be thrown into a series of minigames
to complete. Each character has different minigames to their name, and you'll
have to complete a certain number of minigames randomly chosen from their "set"
- followed by a "Boss Stage" - in order to complete their level. After having
completed their level, you can replay it over and over to try and get the high
score. Bare in mind, however, that you only have 4 lives. If you screw up 4
times, you're out, though you can get extra lives by successfully completing a
Boss Stage.

Second button is "Zukan", in red. It's essentially your library for played
games. Simply select a character to view their set of games - games you have
played will appear in the menu that appears, whereas games you haven't will be
marked by a question mark. Simply use the touch screen to move the slider at
the bottom (or hit the arrows at the top) to view the various games. Selecting
a game will bring up a confirmation "Hajimero" button - hit it to begin playing
the minigame, or select a different one. To leave the menu, hit the "Modoro"
button underneath the character's icon.

Third option is the "Gocha Room". This is where all your unlocked bonuses are
found. After meeting certain objectives, Orbulon's spaceship will appear in the
"Game" menu. Hit it with the stylus and it'll drop unlockables, or Gochas. Tap
them in the game menu and you'll find three options, "Hajimero" to play it,
"Katazukero" to move it to the Gocha Room, or "Sonomama" to quit out. Simply
hit "Katazukero" to move it to the Gocha Room for storage. The same options
apply when selecting a game in the Gocha Room, except the second option is
changed to move it back to the "Game" menu, where it gets in the way and acts
as a general nuisance. =P

The various Gochas are nothing more than fun little distractions, most of them
just little fun things that exploit the various technologies of the touchscreen
and the microphone. Some of them actually have a point (like unlocking MORE
Gochas if you do well) but most are semi pointless. Good fun though, and a nice
waste of time.

Fourth option: Options. The first option here, "Epilogue", allows you to replay
each character's outros. Yawn. Second option lets you rechoose which hand you
want to use for the stylus - though you'll have been forced to set this up on
startup anyway so what's the point? =P. Third option is the data clear. Select
the left hand options at the prompts to confirm it. The final option goes back
to the title screen if you want to have fun with that.

Overly long explanations of game functions out the way, let's get this show on
the road.

===============================================================================
MINIGAMES AND LEVELS (XBMGL)
===============================================================================

The minigames. The blood, the flesh, the tasty morsels of the game. What you
really want. This section tells you about each minigame, what you have to do,
what changes on each level, and what scores you need to unlock things. The same
also goes for the character levels, what scores you need, what you unlock, how
many minigames you have to play, etc. Simple, eh?

The information will be layed out as follows. Each character has a certain
genre of game, which will be listed, along with the "Stage Layout" (how many
games you need to beat in order to complete the stage). Also listed is when the
game will "speed up". In addition to this, gocha unlockables will be listed, as
well as the requirements to do so.

For each minigame, information on how to actually play it will be listed, along
with how the game changes on each difficulty "level" (which increases after you
beat a Boss Stage on repeat plays), and the score needed in order to get a rose
for each game on Zukan mode. Bare in mind, though, that which games and the
order you play them in are random. They won't appear in the order listed here.

So, let's begin with everyone's favourite title character...

GOCHA ROOM (XCGOC)
===============================================================================

The Gocha Room is your new best friend. It's where all the fun little minigames
and side stuff gets stored if you're sane. When you unlock something new it'll
appear on the Game menu and from there you can move it to the Gocha Room and
back at your leisure, but real men keep everything in the Gocha Room.

Most gochas have very little point. At all. You unlock them, you play about
with them, and they do something mildly distracting. And that's it, you don't
get anything for doing them, they're just there for a bit of a laugh and to
show off the DS's amazing stylus and microphone powers and all that. Biased?
Me? Who'dathoughtit.

When listing the gochas, they'll be listed in the order that I obtained them in
originally, along with which of the two Gocha Rooms they appear in, what you
actually do with them, and what if any point there is to them, along with how
you actually unlock them in the first place. Sound good? Good. Good.
