allow you to use it easier. Make sure that you read the Contact Me section if
you intend to email me, or there is a high likelihood that you won't get a

My name is Ketay (well not really) and I'm currently 17 years old (as of
November 2005). I'll be a senior in high school this year and... Yeah that's
about it. I'm writing this FAQ because I think that this game is very deserving
of all the FAQs it can get. The game isn't that complicated in its nature,
being a racing game and all, but its nice to have something to fall back on if
you're striving for the perfect three star score on every track but just can't
quite reach it. So hopefully you'll find this FAQ useful, and remember that if
you ever need to contact me, feel free to read the section below!

The organization of this FAQ is hopefully straightforward. However there are a
few things that could be confusing. For example, there may be some repeated
information in a couple of sections, such as hidden character information in
both the characters section and the secrets section. This is intended, and
helps those people who come here looking for specific information to be able to
find it in all the obvious places (and it saves me many emails saying I'm
missing XXX from the YYY section).

As time goes by the guide will be updated with more and more information on how
to get lower times on tracks, and how to beat missions faster, as I find the
methods out, and as they are sent to me via email. So if you find anything that
I'm missing or have a tip to submit, feel free to read the Contact Me section
and send me an email (okay, I kind of hope since this is like the millionth
time that I've referred you to the Contact Me section that you'll actually read
it and not just email me out of the blue with a random mail that I'll have to
delete).

Before you even begin to think about contacting me, READ THE CORRECT SECTIONS
ALONG WITH THE FAQ AT THE END. That means that if you're looking for help on
Quest 5 of Act II then look at that section in the journal and see if that
helps you. You can also look through the walkthrough around that point and see
if it helps. And DEFINITELY go to near the end of the guide and read the
"Frequently Asked Questions". That's what it's there for. Questions I get too
often will get placed there, and then I'll stop answering emails that ask me.

Also, if you're going to email me, please try to make it readable and specific.
Something like "How do I defeat the boss in the first level of missions, he
won't fall off!" is a LOT more specific and readable than "help me with the
boss PLZ!" Even if it doesn't contain every single possible detail about it,
the more specific you are the better.

And finally be sure to place your name in your email. And if you want me to
email you back at a different email than what you are using, place a reply
address also (although emailing me from where you want a reply is easier since
then I can just hit reply *wink wink hint hint*).

So now... What you've all been waiting for... (Okay probably not but hopefully
you read everything before this in this section)...

ketay [~AT~] comcast [~DOT~] net
(Sorry, I had the wrong email in earlier versions of the guide.)

And if you don't know anything about computers... Be sure to replace the [~AT~]
with a @ and the [~DOT~] with a period to make it like a normal email. Gotta be
safe and try to block out my email from being picked up by spam bots (not like
I don't get enough email spam that it starts pouring out my moniter on its own).

Mario is a racing game for the Nintendo DS. However, rather than being the
typical racing game filled with cars, car parts, and boring old races through
the city, Mario Kart lets you take the role of a famous mario characters (or in
a few special cases such as Donkey Kong, the role of another famous company's
character). Then you are put in a race with other characters, all inside of
special karts specially designed for the character. But a huge twist is added
to the races; you are given a variety of items to use at your disposal, whether
it be for speeding you up, turning you invisible, or just whacking the brains
out of your opponent.

Mario Kart DS is the fifth game in the series of Mario Kart. It all began back
in the days of SNES with Super Mario Kart, which immediately hooked gamers.
It's unique racing gameplay was one of a kind at a time, although now there are
hundreds of games very similar. This game introduced all the familiar game
modes that have survived throughout the years: Grand Prix, Time Trial, and
Battle. Then Mario Kart 64 was released, which was a huge jump from the small
MODE 7 tracks with 2d character sprites, to beautiful 3d levels and detailed
rendered character sprites. This was then followed by Mario Kart Super Circuit
for GBA, and Mario Kart: Double Dash! for Nintendo Gamecube. Each game has
introduced a new set of levels, but for the most part kepts the same cast of
characters.

However, in the newest addition not only do we get the expected set of 16 new
levels, but they have also chosen 16 of the most popular tracks from previous
games and put them, giving us a total of 32 tracks to traverse with glory (too
much poetry in Creative Writing class...). Also, in addition to the new tracks,
we get new hidden characters to unlock, 8 player wireless gameplay, two
different battle modes, and the ability to play online against anyone in the
world in a 4 vs 4 free for all.

So in comparison to the last 4 games, this appears to be the most action packed
Mario Kart game so far, so if you don't have the game yet, be sure to go out
and grab it as soon as possible.

Mario Kart is a pretty basic game at heart, but it has a few things that make
it more than the average racing game. When you start you are given the option
of Singleplayer, Multiplayer, or Wifi Play. For more information see the
section on Online Wifi Play in the Miscellaneous section. In Singleplayer you
are given all the game modes to play, and choosing any of them will give you
more options for that specific mode. For information on the modes see section
3.x.x of the guide.

The Multiplayer though has two different ways of playing. The first way, Normal
Mode, allows you to play using all the tracks and characters in one of three
different modes (VS, Balloon Battle, Shine Runners), and using all unlocked
characters. For this method all players must have a copy of the game. To do
this, choose one person to be the leader. That person should go into the
Multiplayer, click "Create Group", and choose Normal. Then all other players
should go into Multiplayer and choose that character's name on the list. As
each player joins the group their name will be added to the list. Once all
players have joined, the leader should click cut off to start thegame.

The second method requires only one player to have a copy of the game. For this
method, the leader should go and create a group and choose Simple mode. All
players who DO have a game card should go into Multiplayer and choose the
leader's name on the list. All players who do not have a game card should turn
off their DS and turn it back on. In the menu choose DS Download Play andthen
choose Mario Kart DS on the list and the game will be downloaded to their DS
and they will automatically be entered into the game.

Note that players without a Mario Kart DS card will not be able to choose any
character other than Shy Guy.

@ Characters You Begin With @
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

[ Name ]: Mario
[ Weight Class ]: Medium
[ Game Description ]: Mario is familiar to racers oneand all. With a balance of
all abilities, he is a racer suited to all suituations.
[ Other Description ]: Mario is a character who has been in games even before
the first Nintendo console was released. He made his debut back in 1981 in an
arcade game titled "Donkey Kong". However, each new console system released by
Nintendo has debuted with a Mario game, and other games featuring Mario have
been released along the way, including Mario Kart, Mario Golf, and Mario
Tennis. Recently, Mario has extended his gaming career to include other sports,
such as soccer, baseball, and even dancing (with the release of Dance Dance
Revolution: Mario Mix).

[ Name ]: Luigi
[ Weight Class ]: Medium
[ Game Description ]: Mario's younger brother Luigi is ready to race. His
superb traction makes it harder for him to spin out.
[ Other Description ]: Luigi has always been a back character to Mario, rather
than his sidekick. He has been left out of many games completely, and it wasn't
until Luigi's Mansion was released for the Gamecube that he actually got his
spotlight (or flashlight for that matter). Luigi typically has abnormally good
jumping abilities, and looks like a green mario with more height and less
stomach.

[ Name ]: Peach
[ Weight Class ]: Light
[ Game Description ]: A generally genteel princess, the heart of a competitor
burns deep within her. She is adept at drifting.
[ Other Description ]: Peach is the heart of Mario's travels, as she is
constantly being snatched up by Bowser, keeping Mario from getting a good
nights rest.

[ Name ]: Yoshi
[ Weight Class ]: Light
[ Game Description ]: While Yoshi is usually ridden by Mario, this time he's
ready to race. Yoshi's traction is excellent.
[ Other Description ]: Yoshi is a character who has changed drastically over
the years. For the first part of his career he acted as a mount for mario, but
as of recently, he's been his own character as none of the latest mario games
have given you the option of using Yoshi as a steed (unfortunately... I
particularly liked the yellow one from Super Mario Word).

[ Name ]: Toad
[ Weight Class ]: Light
[ Game Description ]: Toad uses his tiny stature to his advantage as he
skillfully weaves in and out of traffic on the track.
[ Other Description ]: Toad has always been a character that never gets what he
deserved. In all the games he acts as someone who provides you with
information, much like a slave. But in Mario Kart he gets his chance to blow
away all the other racers with his light weight and great agility.

[ Name ]: Donkey Kong
[ Weight Class ]: Heavy
[ Game Description ]: DK overwhelmed opponents with his jungle instincts. He
drifts through corners like a mad-man...or a mad-ape!
[ Other Description ]: Donkey Kong, although being a star in all the Mario Kart
games, is actually known most for his role in the Donkey Kong series produced
by Rare, and not by Nintendo. However, his first appearance was in the same
game as Mario made his first appearance, Donkey Kong for arcade. Over the past
few systems, Donkey Kong has starred in many games involving him collecting
bananas, and is one of the larger characters in the game.

[ Name ]: Bowser
[ Weight Class ]: Heavy
[ Game Description ]: Mario's arch-enemy is superb at using his drifting skills
to race through curves.
[ Other Description ]: Bowser spends most of his time stealing Princess Peach
from Mario, causing mario to go on one wild goose chase after another. For the
most part he only stars as the boss in mario adventure games, but he has had
roles in other games such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, wreaking havoc with his
spikey shelled fury.

[ Name ]: Wario
[ Weight Class ]: Heavy
[ Game Description ]: As his name implied, he's the anti-hero to Mario's
heroism. Other than acceleration, he has no fail.
[ Other Description ]: Wario was a character created to be the "evil" side of
mario, to be very similar, but with everything inverted. He has had his own
adventure games, and has gained popularity just like mario, which has caused
his character to branch out into other forms of games also. He is a pair with
Waluigi, who is the "Anti Luigi".

[ Name ]: Shy Guy
[ Weight Class ]: Light
[ Game Description ]: Shy Guy stares out from behind his mask, his gaze
revealing the hidden weaknesses of his opponents. Shy Guy appears only in DS
Download Ply matches.
[ Other Description ]: Shy Guy is a small character in the Mario world, and was
only chosen to force players without the game to play as him. He is an enemy to
mario in most games, but is always defined as simply another monster in another
world, never posing much threat.

Mario Kart DS allows for a variety of items to be picked up and used at the
player's disposal in both races and battle mode. Each item has a unique
ability, and they all help you gain the upper hand. Note though that the
further back you are in a race, the more likely you are to get better items,
such as lightning bolts. This allows the people who fall behind to have a
chance to catch up (but can be annoying when you're ahead the entire race and
you only lose because your friend got 4 lightnings in a row).

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Banana ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
Bananas are the basis of simple road obstacles. The most obvious way to use
these are to just tap X and drop it behind you, hoping that an enemy will hit
it, but in reality there are much more useful ways. With the addition of the
map on the bottom screen, you can use the local map to line yourself up so your
opponents are directly behind you, and then drop the banana. You can also line
yourself up behind an enemy, and then hold up and press X to throw it in front
of you, hopefully landing straight in front of them. This is especially useful
for a last ditch effort when you need to pass that person in first.

Also, although not as useful as the Fake Item Box, you can lay one of these
right under a real item box, or right past it, so that your opponents can't see
it and they hit it as they grab an item. But I personally find that the most
useful way to use these are to lay them on a very small path, so they are
almost unavoidable, such as a bridge or the beginning of one of those small
jumps before a mud puddle. This causes your opponent to either hit the banana,
or slow down drastically by going through bad terrain.

Finally, these items can be a great help for saving your butt from a shell. If
you hear or see a red shell coming behind you, just hold it out and drag it
behind you so that it hits the banana and not you. This becomes invaluable in
battle as you can keep your backside safe, and still grab another item in the
process.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Triple Bananas ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
Triple Banananas are just like the normal Bananas, except that when you use it,
you will automatically drag 3 bananas behind you. You can keep them there for
protection, or you can lay them out one at a time. A useful way to do this is
to drag diagonally and lay them so that it covers the entire pathway,
preventing your opponent from getting through. As with normal bananas, these
will cause your opponent's kart to flip over.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Green Shell ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
Most people label Green Shells as useless compared to other items, but with a
bit of aim they become just as good as red shells. These double as backside
protection as you drag them along, or you can shoot them in a straight line in
front of you. Unlike in the previous games though, these will not bounce
forever, and after a few hits to a wall it will crack and disappear.

A useful way to get the most out of these is to take an opponent head on in
battle and drive straight towards them, as if you were playing chicken, and
then shoot it at the last second. Just be sure to check your bottom screen to
make sure they don't have their own shells, or worse, a star.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Red Shell ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
The Red Shell is probably the most useful of items in battle, and is almost
equally as useful in races. As with the Green Shells, these double as
protection, but when you shoot them, they will home down the person in front of
you. This lets you get an easy lead over other players without having to worry
about aiming. However, in battle mode you have to be careful, because if it
doesn't pass near a player, it will continue straight until it hits an obstacle
or falls off.

The main thing you have to worry about with these is you need to shoot them
into open air. If you aim them too close to a wall, they will hit it and
disappear, because the homing doesn't immediately kick it.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Triple Green Shells ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
The Triple Green Shells serve the same purpose as normal green shells, except
they also act as an almost inpenetrable barrier, blocking outside attacks from
reaching you. Hitting X once will make 3 of them rotate around you, and each
successive press of the button will shoot one of them away. These work great
for shields because they will block attacks against you from all sides.

Be sure to not get too cocky though, because some attacks will sneak through
your shells and hit you, and things such as a star won't be able to be blocked
by your shells.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Triple Red Shells ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
Just like the Triple Green Shells, but each one is homing. This is probably the
most useful item to get when trying to take out enemies in Battle mode.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Spiny Shell ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
This shell flies straight towards the kart in first, regardless of what
position you are in when you shoot it. Once it reaches the first place kart it
will spin and shoot down into the kart, causes a large blue explosion. Any
karts within the blast radius will also be knocked out, so don't take the
person in first getting blown up as a chance to ram into them, as this is
harmful to anyone stupid enough to get near it.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Fake Item Box ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
Once again, this items work as a shield for behind you, but it also acts as an
improved banana. Instead of being instantly recognizable as an obstacle, it
takes the form of an Item Box without the question mark, fooling people who
aren't too careful. If you lay it out in the middle of nowhere, it will be
pretty obvious that it's not real, but if you lay it carefully within, or on, a
group of other item boxes, people will be more likely to mistake it for a real
one.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Bob-omb ] - Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------
This item is a mixture of a Banana and a Spiny Shell. When you throw it, if it
collides with another player, it will instantly explode, creating a large blast
radius hitting anyone near it. However, if it doesn't hit anyone, it will stay
for a pause, and then blow up on its own. Because of this, you have to be
careful not to be close to it, because even if you don't touch it, the blast
radius can still hit you.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Mushroom ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

The Mushroom is the basic speedup found in all mario kart games. Using it will
cause you to have a temporary boost of speed, allowing you to catch up with the
karts ahead of you easier. However, the boost isn't too big, and there are a
few tips to using it so you get the most out of it.

The best place to use it is to cross bad terrain. For example, if you could cut
a corner, but would be forced to go over mud or grass which would slow you
down, cut the corner and boost over the grass. It lets you quickly sneak around
opponents without giving them a chance to run you off.

Also, be sure to use it wisely around speed boosts. Don't use it directly
before or after a speed boost, as it'll be wasted. Make sure to give it ample
times to burn out, so you get the most out of it.

And finally, if theres a box of items coming up, use it right before you hit an
item box, so that you can still get the help of the boost, but also can nab an
item when you're there.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Triple Mushroom ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

The Triple Mushroom serves the same purpose as the normal mushroom, but you get
three of them. The biggest mistake people make with these are to immediately
use all three at once, which is a bad thing to do because the effects don't
stack. If possible, use them all spaced out so that each one gets a chance to
burn out so that you average velocity over the useage of the three stays higher
in regards to a larger time period.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Golden Mushroom ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

The Golden Mushroom once again acts as a normal mushroom, but this time you get
an infinite amount of them. That's right, you can boost yourself until the sun
don't shine. Unfortunately, once you use it the first time you have a very
limited time before it runs out. So unless you can speed the game up to an
infinite amount of frames per seconds and press X once every frame, I don't
think you're going to be using it forever (reference to Zeno's Paradoxes...
Kind of). Anyway, be careful in using this because taking turns can be hard at
high speeds, and on a level such as Rainbow Road you may end up flying off
again... And again... And again.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Bullet Bill ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

Bullet Bill acts pretty much like a star, in that it speeds you up and makes
you invincible. However, as a bullet you'll travel quickly along the track,
making it easier to run people off the road.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Blooper ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

The Blooper is a new addition to the weapon arsenal of the game, and it
provides you with a way to impair the other players' vision. When you use it,
it will fly to an opponents screen and cover it with ink. While inked your
upper screen will have large black blobs on it, making it harder to see the
track. For the most part it won't hurt you, but in a fast paced race where ever
second counts, a late turn could be the different between a win and a lose.

One thing about this though, is that the addition of a map on the bottom
screens allows you to ignore the effect and drive using the map. Just be sure
that you hit Y/Touch Screen to make sure you're on the local map if you're on
the global one because the local one allows you to clearly see your
surroundings, while the global one is useless for the most part when you're
inked.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Boo ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

Boo is a classic item that has been around since the beginning. It's also one
of the "different" items, in that it doesn't speed you up or give you a way to
harm your opponents. However, it does make you invisible temporarily, which
allows you to sneak up on enemies and smash them with a green shell (especially
useful in battle). Also, when you use it Boo will fly from you to an opponent,
steal their weapon, and then bring it back to you. This comes in handy when
you're in 2nd and someone behind you has a really good item you need, since
being so far in front of the others will cause you to end up with sucky items
most of the time.

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Lightning ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

Lightning is the major game breaker, in that it can completely turn the tide of
the race around. When you use it, all other players will spin out, drop their
items, and shrink. While they are small their carts max speed is significantly
lowered, allowing you to cruise right by them. After using it, players will
begin to unshrink one at a time, beginning with the people further behind, and
moving towards the front, so that the person in 1st stays small the longest.
This is a subtle way to help even out the race, but for the person who used the
lightning, it gives them a HUGE advantage. Better save up on your stars, since
if you're invincible while one of these hits, you'll save your kart, your item,
and your size (which seems to be a big issue among guys these days ;]).

-----------------------------------------------------
[ Star ] - NOT Draggable
-----------------------------------------------------

The Star is the mascot of Mario, and it's what Mario had a whole game based
around. However, unlike in Super Mario 64 where these babies would unlock doors
leading to Bowser, these will temporarily turn you invincible, protecting you
from items and players, and will increase your speed while invincible. Also, if
you hit any players while the Star is in effect they will be knocked over.
However, the best reason to use this is for the shiny effect and the classic
music.

Here I will post a list of each of the karts, along with their main driver,
their name, and their statistics.

I have placed the data in large ASCII meters so that you can quickly scroll
through and match them up and see how they compare, something you can't do with
simple numbers on a scale from 1-100. This way you'll be able to find a kart
that has the stats you need.

Also note that as you change characters for the karts you'll also change their
weight, but it won't change anything major.

that sometimes they'll even go out of the way just to hit bananas and fake item
boxes lying in the middle of the road. Sometimes (such as in the case of short
5 lap tracks) you'll find yourself overlapping one, two, or even all of the
enemies.

However, once you get into 100c the enemies start getting more challenging, as
they'll begin to dodge your bananas, and start ramming you off the track. This
starts to be become a problem especially on tracks such as Rainbow Road, where
there are places where the smallest tap can send you off. The best way to
counter this is to sacrifice your lead and break so you don't get rammed off,
or attempt to ram them off first.

And finally, there is 150c. This is where the CPU players seem to speed up to
keep up with you, regardless of having no mushroom, and they seem to be perfect
players. However, as you begin to get down the tricks of racing, such as power
drifting and mushroom cutting you'll find that they are actually beatable, and
you can learn to stop complaining about the computer cheating.

Grand Prix is also the main method you'll use for unlocking different game
secrets. For example, beating all 4 50cc Nutro Cups will gain you Dry Bones as
a racable player, and beating all 4 50cc Retro Cups will get you Daisy.

Here I will list some tips that should help you get through beating the
computer players. Note that I won't list general tips, and you'll have to have
to refer to 2.4.0 (tips) to get those tips. Here I will list tips that are
specific to beating computer players, as some of their tactics are predictable.
If you have any tips to add, feel free to send them to me!

-----------------------------------------------------
Rainbow Road Breaking
-----------------------------------------------------
When playing the Rainbow Road track, the computers will often attempt to pass
you, but in the process, will ram you off the track. There are a few ways to
get by this. One way is to ram into THEM as they pass you, not giving them a
chance to hit you. You can also hit your breaks as they pass so you fall behind
before they can hit you. This can give you a quick advantage to use a shell to
hit them, or to use a mushroom and ram them off.

More coming soon!

Missions are a great addition to the game, and will normally give you a
challenge to beat, rather than a race. The challenge can be anything from going
through numbered gates, to collecting all the coins, to destroy fish with
stars. Each challenge is timed, and the faster you complete the challenge the
better the grade you will get. The grades are as follow:

*** - Highest
**
*
A
B
C - Lowest

Here I have a walkthrough for each of the missions, but if you have problems
with a specific mission, feel free to contact me and maybe I can explain it
clearer. If you have alternate methods to easily getting a triple star score,
also feel free to send me that, and I'll be sure to add it.

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-1
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 5 numbered gates in order!
Character: Mario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This is the first mission, and because of that, they give you one that is easy
to master a triple star score. When you begin, be sure to start out with a
speed boost (hold the A Button RIGHT as the BEEP noise for 2 ends) and then
just drive straight through the first gate. Then continue straight until you
near the second gate, and then slowly turn, collecting the third mushroom from
the left and boosting through. Continue to turn slowly, simply tapping the left
D-Pad quickly, don't turns too quickly or you'll lose speed. Also, don't power
slide, because it takes extra effort and isn't needed. As you near the third
gate, collect the second mushroom from the left, speed through, and continue
your slight turn. Collecting the second mushroom from the left and zoom through
the fourth gate. Finally, just head straight towards the third mushroom from
the left, which will take you through the last gate, earning you a triple star
score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-2
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 15 coins!
Character: Peach
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level seems to give a lot of people trouble if they havn't mastered
drifting. There's no need to power drift in this, as long as you time
everything correctly. When you begin, speed boost straight through the first
two coins. Then, BEFORE you collect the next two, start drifting, so that you
drift through the two coins, around the corner, and into the 5th coin. STOP
drifting before you collect the 6th coin though, so that as you hit it you are
straightened out from your drift. Then, for the rest of the track, SLOWLY ease
yourself around corner, turning just enough so that you can collect the coins.
If you hold down the D-Pad you'll lose speed, so just tap it so that you slowly
go around corners. If you continue it without losing speed, you should be able
to finish with over 19 seconds left, earning you your second triple star score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-3
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Destroy all 10 item boxes!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This is an especially easy level, as it doesn't require you to drift, power
slide, break, or anything. When you begin, start with a speed boost (although a
*** is easily attainable without one) and go around the track, slowly turning
(tap the D-pad to turn, don't hold it). As you get the mushrooms, use them
immediately, except for the ones in boxes 6 and 7. Once you get those, wait
until you go over the speed bursts and have slowed down. Then use the mushroom
to boost yourself into the next speed boost. Then, for the rest of the way,
continue to use the mushrooms immedately, and turn slowly, and you'll be able
to get another triple star score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-4
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Get the Star and use it to hit 5 Cheep Cheeps!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is annoying because if you try to do them from start to finish
you'll continuously end up missing them, or they'll hope over you. However, a
good way to do this is to take it backwards. Begin with a power boost and the
quickly drive to the end of the level without using your star. Drift to the
right to turn yourself around quickly and line yourself up with the last Cheep
Cheep. Then use your star and slowly (but quickly enough to get all 5 in one
star) make your way down the beach, taking the Cheep Cheeps out one by one
until you get back to the beginning. However, you have to be careful to not let
them hop over you, so try to anticipate where they'll be, and go towards that
point, not the point they're at currently. After completing this you'll be
halfway done with the first level!
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-5
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 6 numbered gates in order!
Character: Toad
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level takes place on the giant floating DS. When you begin you'll be
facing the first gate you must pass through. Speed boost to start and go
through the gate. Then continue straight on up, but when you near the top, do a
quick drift to the left, sharply turning through the second gate, and ending up
facing the third gate. Continue down through it, and then immediately hop and
drift to the left to turn sharply. Continue straight through the fourth gate,
and then go straight. For the last gate, don't power slide into it, or turn
sharply, or anything complicated. Simply drive through it diagonally, because
it's the last gate it won't matter that you would normally fly off the edge by
doing that. This will net you your 5th triple star rank.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-6
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive out of the mansion... backward!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Another easy level, this one just becomes hard when you don't realize that you
have to press the B Button to drive, and not the A Button, since you are going
backwards. Just hold the D-Pad to turn, as you won't lose speed when you turn
hard while going backwards. When you turn a corner though, be sure to turn
quickly right near the corner (without hitting it of course), and then stay
near the wall for the next corridor. For the third turn, don't turn as quick,
as there is a large white obstacle that you'll hit if you don't go far enough
out. After each turn, line yourself up quickly straight, and don't turn
yourself back and forth, or you'll lose precious time.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-7
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 20 coins!
Character: Donkey Kong
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
For this level, you'll obtain three mushrooms at the beginning. So start by
speed boosting into the item box, and then using your first mushroom to grab
the first line of coins, and then immediately using your second and third as
the previous one runs out. The beginning is the best part to use them because
you drive straight so there is no need to attempt a turn while boosting. As you
get to the turns, return to your old tacting of slow turning, just tapping the
D-Pad, so that you don't lose speed. All the coins are easy, and you can simply
stay in the middle of the track (no need to go mole hunting) and easily get a
triple star score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 1-8
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Perform 4 power-slide turbo boosts in 1 lap!
Character: Mario
Required Time: 19:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is the first of many to test your power sliding skills. The level
itself has 6 corners before the finish line, leaving you with one power slide
per corner and two extra. To powerslide, hop as you turn a corner, and then
beginning to drift. Then hold the opposite direction temperarily, and then
press the way you're turning, hold the opposite direction temperarily, and then
press the way you're turning. (For example, if you're taking a left turn, hold
R and left to drift left, then hold right for a second and hit left, and hold
right for another second and hit left). The first time you do it you'll see
blue sparks, and the second will net you red sparks. Once you have red sparks,
if you let go of R you'll get a boost forward. Many people say just to wiggle
left and right back and forth, but doing that takes more motions back and forth
than if you hold it for a second. Once you get the timing down, you can hold it
for just long enough to allow you to get sparks, but not so long that you waste
time.

So, when you begin the level, start by power boosting, and immediately hopping
into a power slide to the left, and boost out of it. Then continue forward to
the next turn, and do it again. It's simple to do four of them, but to obtain a
3 star score you'll need to do one at each corner, and two at the last corner.
The more you can fit in the more boosts you'll have, and ultimately the less
time you take. The last turn is very important though, so try to do the boosts
quickly, and as soon as you let go of R and start boosting, jump into another
one. Overall you'll want to get at least 7 power boosts in on the level to
obtain a triple star score. However, if you find yourself in trouble and only
being able to get 3 stars, trying cutting off the boost at the first corner and
taking it sharply. If dont correctly, it can lower the time it takes for you to
complete the track.

[ Update ]
It seems that a few people have been having trouble getting a triple star score
with this level no matter how hard they try. So here's a walkthrough of what I
did on each corner to get through.

Behind by power boosting at the beginning, and holding left, just sharp turning
normally. Be sure to drive OVER the red and white line to cut the corner as
close possible, as every single milisecond counts.

Then, drive straight towards the next corner, keeping close to the sand on the
left. When you powerslide, try to slide staying RIGHT next to the inside of the
corner, letting go of your boost at the very end.

Then, on the next corner power boost normally, but try to end your slide so
you'll end up on the right side of the road, since the next turn is in the
opposite direction.

Once again, take a quick right speed boost turn, staying as close to the corner
as you can.

Then on the last turn, slide longer than normal, and do only one power boost,
reaching the goal line with over 19 seconds to spare, earning the hardest ***
in the first level set.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Boss Stage
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Use Mushrooms to crash into the Big Bully and knock him off the
stage!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Without knowledge of how to take the level on quickly you can end up spending
minutes and minutes trying to get him off the edge, only to find that three
mushrooms isn't enough, seeing as he likes to come after you, putting in the
middle of the stage for the most part. However, there are a couple of ways to
take this on and do it in under 10 seconds.

When you begin, power boost foward and smash into him without turning. This
will push him back and reveal the item box that was sitting behind him. Now go
forward again and collect the three mushrooms and ram him once more. Now,
quickly turn to the left to go around him, and then drift to the right in a
large circle until he is on screen again. If done correctly he will have
followed you to the edge and then started to turn around. This will put him
next to the water so that as he comes into view you can go straight at him and
use your first mushroom to push him back, your second mushroom to push him
further, and your third to send him into the water. If you're able to get
around fast enough before he turns, you'll be able to get him out with only two
mushrooms, raising your time.

Regardless though, with such a quick time you'll ensure yourself an easy triple
star score, making your Level 1 score come out to a perfect ***.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

On the first boss, if you play chicken with him, and turn off at the last
second, you can snag the box with a slide, and he'll be near the edge. Just
three mushrooms later and you've won.

Mission 2-1
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Crash into all 10 wooden crates and destroy every one!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
The goal of this level is to drive through it as fast as you can, but as you do
you have to ram into the 10 wooden boxes. Once you hit them, it'll bring you to
a complete stop, but they will shatter, so that you can continue. As you start,
speed boost into the first one, and then slowly turn around the corner, hitting
the second and third boxes. However, when you see the fourth one on the bridge,
SKIP IT. Drive onto the bridge, passing the first two boxes you see, and
hitting the box at the end. Then, use the R button to hop and turn around
quickly and go into the box on the bridge. Then continue up the bridge and
continue the one at the top that you skipped before. Quickly drift to the right
to get back on track and continue down the road, hitting the three boxes you
come to. Then drift quickly onto the bridge, and then hop and drift once more
to the right through the hole in the fence. Continue straight into the last
box, completing the mission.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

On mission 2-1 if you aim for the sides of the crates, you won't come to a
complete stop, in some cases you'll barely even slow down. This makes it a lot
easier to get a triple star rating.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-2
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 10 coins!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
You have to thank Nintendo for the easy missions here. This one is super
simple. When you begin, instead of speed boosting, hold B so you drive
backwards. Right before you hit the coin (check the map), hold A, so as you
slow down, collect the coin, and start going forward. Then, just continue
forward, slowly easing your way around corners (which are very light turns),
collecting the 9 coins that wait for you in a plain sight.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-3
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 5 numbered gated in order!
Character: Donkey Kong
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is a bit harder than the last, but really doesn't take much skill.
Begin by speed boosting, then slowly easing your way around the corner. Go
through the first gate and across the bridge. When you get to the corner, drift
boost forward, but make sure you end up going through the mushroom, over the
grass, and through the gate in the middle of the shortcut. Then, drift around
the corner, and go through the gate while still drifting, and then boost out
after the corner. Continue to the next gate, mushrooming yourself through, and
drift around the corner to the left. Then drift around the corner to the right,
collecting the mushroom, and finishing your mission as you cross through the
5th gate, while still drifting to the right. Your time should earn you a triple
star if done correctly.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-4
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Destroy all 5 item boxes!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
As you begin the level, 5 item boxes will be floating in a circle. As it counts
down they will float away out through the level, and it's your job to chase
them down and collect them all. Each one will give you a mushroom as you
collect it, which you can then use to speed up. Speed boost to start out, and
then slowly ease your way around the corners, but instead of taking wide turns,
cut the corners quicker, and get the boxes. When you get the mushroom, use it
to catch up to the next one. Your fourth box should be gotten while going down
the downhill slope into the mansion, and the fifth box gotten as you turn that
corner, earning you three stars.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-5
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 20 coins!
Character: Peach
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is simple as long as you have good turning abilities. Boost out of
the starting area, and just continue down, collecting coins on your way. As you
go through the stone half-cave, slowly turn, being sure to stay in the middle
collecting the coins. Try to turn a bit early and quickly so that you don't end
up missing coins because you turned too wide. Then, line yourself up straight
with the rainbow jump, because if you take it on at an angle you will end up
missing the coin in midair, and shooting out to the side. As you land, you can
just continue ahead to collect the final coins, earning you yet another 3 star
score. The biggest tip on this level is to take the turn before the rainbow
thing quickly and sharply, so that you can aim at the rainbow jump straight on.
As long as you do that you should be good to go.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-6
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Use Bob-ombs to destroy all 5 Pokeys!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level pits you in the desert and forces you to collect Bob-ombs from item
boxes and throw them at Pokeys (the pokey cactus ball things). When you begin,
speed boost straight forward, and then break so that you stop exactly on the
item box directly in front of you. Then, using the R button, hop and turn
(staying on the item box) and destroy either the left or right Pokey near you.
Then, being on the item box, another should pop up right on you, so immediately
use the R button to hop and right to the other Pokey and take it out. Then,
before you move, make sure an item box pops up and gives you a Bob-omb, and
then drive forward and kill the third Pokey by driving straight at it and
shooting. However, don't get too close or the Bob-omb's blast radius will hit
you also. Finally, drive to the final set of item boxes and grab the one on
right, stopping on top of it. Using the trick from before, hop left and right
with R and shoot the final two Pokey's, completing the mission.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-7
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 10 numbered gates in order!
Character: Toad
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level can get confusing due to there are multiple gates that you can go
through, but only one of them at a time is the one you need. When you start,
simple drive forward through the 1 gate and over the boost. Ahead will be
another gate, but simply drive to the left of this gate and continue towards
the set of two gates. The one on the left is the 2 gate so drive through that
one and continue onward to the next set of two gates. Seeing as the last one
was the left gate, it's only logical that this time you will be going through
the right gate. Continue forward through the next single gate, the 4 gate,
marking you as halfway through. Then, as you get to the rainbow panels on the
ground up the slope, drive up to them and follow them along, trying to stay in
the middle, and you will find that you'll go soaring through the 5 gate. When
you finish, go over the rainbow speed boost after it and continue forward. As
you slow down, use the mushroom you collected from earlier to zoom through the
6 gate on the right (a red gate indicated that you've already been through it).
Then turn slightly to the left and grab an item box and boost your way through
the 7 gate and up through the 8 gate. Turn a bit to your right and continue
through the 9 gate in sight. Now, go to the first rainbow boost, and boost to
the second one up UP the hill to the upper level, and diagonally through the 10
gate, earning your triple star score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 2-8
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Perform 6 power-slide turbo boosts in 3 laps!
Character: Princess
Required Time: 20:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
What is up with the power sliding levels being so much harder than the other
levels? This level requires you to have perfect sliding through all 6 turns to
be able to complete it with having at least 20:00 left. Now, when you turn, you
should exactly the opposite of what you think. Instead of taking the inside box
and sliding around, you should take the outside item box. However, each turn
should go as follows:

1. Line yourself up towards the outside box on the outside of the track.
2. Before you get to the box, hop with R, and then start drifting while holding
left.
3. As you collect the item box, hit right, and then go back to the holding left
to get your blue sparks.
4. Drift as close as you can to the inside of the corner, and then hit right
and left and then left go of R to boost, and then use your star right as you
let go.

However, the only difference is that on the first corner, while still
maintaining and perfect power slide, use your star as soon as you can. Then,
using these tactics you should be able to get a triple star score and continue
onto the boss, Eyerok.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Boss Battle
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Hit the Eyerok's eyeball 3 times with shells!
Character: Mario
Required Time: 4:30:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
In this level you are faced up against a pair of hangs with eyeballs on them.
Each time you go through it will point one hand at you, eye showing, and the
other will bunch up and try to smash you as a fist. When you begin, power boost
straight through them, and collect the item box at the other side, power
sliding to the right. Turn back towards him immediately, and go straight at his
eye and shoot it. Then continue forward around the fallen hand and collect the
item box. Turn around and you'll see him coming back together for another
attack. While he's doing this, try to get in front of him so when he opens his
hands you don't have to wait for him to turn around and face you before you can
attack him. As soon as he opens it, drive towards him and shoot his eye with
another shell and continue past, collecting another one. Now just turn around
and watch as he pounds the ground, and then wait for him to open up. Drive at
him a third time (a bit repetetive no?) and smash the shell into him, taking
him out once and for all, earning you a triple star on level two of the
missions mode.

Mission 3-1
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Destroy all 5 item boxes!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: Waluigi's Pinball
-----------------------------------------------------
I have to admit, this has to be one of the most annoying levels. Not only is it
a problem that there are obstacles in your way blocking your view so it is hard
to find the item boxes you need to hit, and not only are they moving, but
you're playing on the bumper section of Waluigi's Pinball meaning there's a
million bright moving objects to distract you. Because of that, there isn't
much I can do to give a straight walkthrough for this level. However, the level
isn't that hard to triple star with a little bit of careful driving skills.

When you start, drive ahead and around the bumper, and follow the box in sight.
Now, use your minimap to locate the closest box, and go after it. Don't use
your star until you are on a straight part that you can drive quickly into the
box. Also, try to slow down as you near the box so you can make sure you get it
even if it decides to turn around a corner. Then, continue the process, being
sure to check your minimap when needed, and you should be able to complete this
level.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

Mission 3-1, guide yourself with the lower screen till you're close, then use
the upper screen to snag a box. Continue and it should get you a triple star
rating pretty easily.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-2
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 5 numbered gates in order... backward!
Character: Bowser
Required Time: ?
Level: Delfino Square
-----------------------------------------------------
Yay, another level backwards! This level is simple as long as you know which
fork to take. As you start, make sure you're holding B, and just continue
through the level as the basic backwards speed. Take the corners as quick as
you can, since you won't slow down when you're going backwards. Also, remember
that controls are inversed when you are going backwards.

Once you get after the second gate you will come to a fork. Although the gate
on the right is hard to see if it is the right one, but it is, so continue
straight and don't turn left. Then just continue backwards through the last 2
gates to earn another really simple triple star.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-3
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 15 coins whil avoiding the Chain Chomp!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: 18:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level can get annoying because it seems that Luigi has the worst turning
for this. Whether you try drifting or turning normally you'll end up turning
too wide and missing a coin or two. When you start make sure you start out with
a speed boost and continue straight through the first coins. When you start to
turn, you'll have to continually take your finger off the A button and put it
back on so that you can accelerate only a little at a time so that you turn
straight through the coins. This may take a few times but once you get the
amount of speed you need you'll get it down and getting a triple star is easy.
However, if you miss a coin you might as well restart because going backwards
or turning around wastes far too much time.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

On mission 3-3, a single powerslide will never work, but you can hop into a few
different slides, and make it in one loop.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-4
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before Yoshi!
Character: Peach
Required Time: Under 30:000
Level: Yoshi Falls
-----------------------------------------------------
When you play this level you'll see how INSANELY easy it easy to wipe Yoshi in
this level, but when you get your score you'll notice it takes a bit more than
just toodling along in your Mushmellow to get a triple star. When you begin,
turn slightly to the right after you speed boost and take the TOP item box from
the waterfall. Then let the water push you down so you're near the cliff, and
use your star. Stay on the very bottom near the cliff and go through the next
waterfall, not leaving the edge of the cliff. Then drive up to the left and use
your items. Then as you go over the speed boosts stay towards the middle of the
track, just far enough to the left to go over the boosts. As you cruise through
the finish line you should end up with a time below 30 seconds, earning you
another perfect score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-5
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 8 numbered gates in order!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
At first glance this will look like a confusing and hard track, but once you
realize that they layed it out in a manner that makes it easy to do it's
actually really fun and quite easy. When you begin just go straight forward
through the 1 gate, and the gate following it. Continue straight and go through
the pipe, and you'll pop out and bounce through the 2 gate. Immediately drift
to the right and power boost through the 3 gate, and then turn to the RIGHT
lightly to go through the 4 gate. Then go through the pipe and you'll end up at
the bottom and you'll go through the 5 gate. Up ahead to your right you'll see
the 6 gate, so drift through it and continue your drive until you are aimed up
the ramp, and then let your speed boost go so you go flying through the 7 gate
and off the edge of the upper level towards the middle of the level. Then just
drive through the 8 gate to finish it up. If you do all this without hesitation
you'll easily earn yourself a 3 star score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-6
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Hit Monty Moles with shells 5 times!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level has to be one of the hardest levels so far, but with a good strategy
and a little luck you can scrape by with a three star score. To start, speed
boost into the LEFT item box, and stop on it so you continuously get green
shells. Now, face your kart at the fence on the right side of the level. Angle
yourself so that when you shoot the shell it bounces back and forth on the
fence, and goes over as many mole holes as possible. Then just sit shooting
shell after shell and sooner or later, if you've aimed yourself right, you
should hit 5 moles.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

Mission 3-6 is a tough one, but getting the timing right, and you can get a
triple star easily. For my tip, boost straight forward, stopping on the item
box, and aim at the closest hole slightly to the left. When the moles head pops
out the first time, put the shell behind you (hold L or X) then, when it
pounces, right before the peak, let go. the shell will hit when it's coming
back down. From my various attempts to get the timing right, I learned you can
still miss about 3 of them in this way to get a triple star.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-7
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Perform 10 power-slide turbo boosts in 1 lap!
Character: Toad
Required Time: ~18:000
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Wow, this time the super power slide drift level isn't the last level, however,
it isn't any easier this time. When you start, power boost out of the starting
gate. On the first time, complete your first power boost starting right as you
pass the car on your right. Then do your second one and boost around the car to
the left, and then do the third one very close to the wall. Try to cut them as
short as possible. The next turn don't do it immediately, as the first part of
the turn isn't very sharp, wait a bit and then do one of them. However, watch
out for the truck that appears in the right lane as you turn the corner,
because if it hits you you're out of the running the a *** score. On the next
turn, do two power boosts around the car and onto the straightaway. On the next
curvy section, do a boost to the left, and then one to the right, and enter the
tunnel, being careful of the two busses. The first turn of the tunnel take
lightly, and then drift around the next one. However, continue drifting around
for a long time all the way around the corner until you see the right turn.
Then boost forward and do another boost to the right. Then, on the last part of
the level, simply do a boost to the left and then a boost to the right and go
towards the finish line, completing the level.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

mission 3-7 and every single boost level, if there's a long curve or turn,
suggest multiple slides, they don't really help you, but they are just
insurance if you happen to make a few mistakes.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 3-8
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 20 coins!
Character: Mario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This is another level that can seem confusing at first, and you can end up
going around in circles trying to figure out where the coins are that you
missed, but there's a path that gets you through it quickly and even if you get
slowed down for a second, you can still triple star it. When you start, get the
coin in front of you and then turn to the left and grab that coin. Then, drift
out of the door on the left, and to the right (being careful not to slide off
the edge), and then slide into the next room, collecting the coin, and then
power boosting to the right, straight into the coin right before the stop
fence. Then, hop around quickly and go out into the previous room, and then
straight out to the outside and turn right. Go forward, around the banana,
collecting the coin, and go into the room, getting the coin in the middle.
Then, turn left and collect the coin in the next room, and turn sharply again
to the left, outside. Go around the corner, collecting the coin, and then go
forward and get the coin after the banana. Turn into the room on your right,
and go around the stop signs and collect the coin in the back, drifting in a
circle, and then collect the coin in the front of the room and head back out,
turning right. Continue forward and collect the two coins next to three
bananas, and then go around the corner. Go into the romo on your right,
collecting the coin in the middle of the room. Then go into the room on your
left, and starting with the coin on the right, collect the coin in a
counterclockwise motion, finishing up the level.

-----------------------------------------------------
Boss Battle
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before Goomboss!
Character: Toad
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Finally, a level where you don't have to beat your opponent by a mile to get a
three star score! This level pits you up against Goomboss, a large goomba who
will turn around every once and awhile and throw either a goomba or a mushroom
at you. However, as long as you can dodge the goombas, and collect a mushroom
every once in awhile, you'll be able to beat him with no problem. Take all of
the turns very quickly close to the edge, just like the mission that tells you
to do 6 turbo boosts on this level. Also, if there's any mushrooms in your
path, grab them to help speed yourself up. If you manage to beat him quickly,
you'll earn yourself a three star rank for the entire 3rd level. Great job!

Mission 4-1
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before Donkey Kong!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level pits you backwards on this level racing against Donkey Kong. The
level is relatively easy in itself, but the occasional snowman to the face or
smashing into a snowball can slow you down quite a bit. When you begin, simple
power boost and then start to power slide just as your boost runs out and then
speed around the corner, but watch out for the snowmen. Then, when you get up
to the "jump", SLOW DOWN so you can go over the speed boost and grab an item
box. If its three mushrooms, be sure to use them quickly before you get to the
next set of item boxes. It's also possible to get a star, so use that also.
Then, continue on and use the item you get in the next item boxes. Later on
you'll get to some cliffs that look scary. However, bite your fear and be sure
to speed boost around them, and not just normal turns. If you can't power boost
without falling off, do some practice. If you get mushrooms on the item boxse
on the cliff, quickly turn right and speed through the trees in the snow (don't
go too far right or you'll hit a red fence). It'll give you a significant boost
that can help you time. Overall this level is super easy to defeat Donkey Kong,
and not much harder to earn yourself a perfect score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-2
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Blast 20 crabs!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
At first glace this seems to be a hard level, but once you realize you have a
huge amount of time to kill the crabs it gets easier. When you start, drive
through the item boxes and get your items. If you get a Bob-omb and have good
aim, go ahead and shoot it at a crab. If there's a group of them, go for them
because then you can take out more than one. If you don't have good aim, simple
hold down and press X to place it behind you so you don't have to worry about
aiming. If you get three green shells, try not to take out crabs that are all
smushed together, because those are best taken out with a bomb. At the
beginning you'll have to go further out to get the crabs, but as time goes by
they'll start coming closer and closer so you can access them easier. Just
simple go for the ones closest to the middle and you'll have this level done in
no time.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

Mission 4-2, stay near the boxes and just keep turning with R and firing.
You'll hit all you can, and get a triple star without hardly trying.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-3
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before the red car!
Character: Mario
Required Time: ?
Level: Mushroom Ridge
-----------------------------------------------------
Well, someone is a really bad driver. When you start you'll be passed by a
speeding red car. Your goal is to finish before it. However, regardless of its
speed, beating it shouldn't be too complicated. Speed boost out to start (you
should have gotten the hang of this by now) and then boost around the corner.
Continue on, being sure to boost around all the corners possible. However, when
you have mushrooms, don't use them around corners. Always speed boost around
corners and use the mushrooms on places when you're not turning. The big thing
to do is watch out for cars coming after, and be sure not to drift into them.
You should easily be able to finish with over 40 seconds remaining, earning you
three stars.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-4
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 7 numbered gates in order!
Character: Wario
Required Time: 20:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is one of the better gate levels so far, as it doesn't just require
you to stay in the center of the track. Begin with a power boost and go
straight through the first gate. If you can, get a perfect power boost so it
lasts until you're through the first gate, but it's not required to beat it
with a perfect score. Power boost around the corner and get three mushrooms.
However, save them and then you'll see that the second gate is through the
sand. Use two of your mushrooms to get across the first pit of sand, taking you
through the gate, and then your final mushroom across the next area of sand,
taking you through another gate. Continue through the next gate and grab three
more mushrooms out of an item box. Take the next corner SHARPLY, and go through
the fifth gate. Then use your three mushrooms to go OVER the sandy hills (don't
go on the track and around the hills, because then you'll waste time and miss
the 6 gate). Finish up with the level with the 7 gate and get a triple star.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-5
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 15 coins. If you get squished by a Twhomp, you fail!
Character: Bowser
Required Time: ?
Level: Bowser's Castle 2
-----------------------------------------------------
This level takes some quick timing and a nice boost at the beginning. When you
start, simple speed boost out of the starting gate, and go straight through the
first row. As long as you boost you'll be able to get all of them without
getting squished. The next part is easier if you got a perfect speed boost, but
is possible otherwise. As you get to the last coin or two on the first row,
start drifting to the left, and quickly turn around after you get the last
coin. Now, before the Thwomps smash down for the second time, try to collect 3
(or maybe 2) coins before stopping, and wait for them to smash down and go back
up. Then simple drive forward and collect the rest of the coins and you'll have
another three star score.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-6
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Break all 10 item boxes while avoiding the Fake Items!
Character: Donkey Kong
Required Time: ?
Level: Choco Valley
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is easy, as long as you have the ability to check the bottom screen
every few seconds. All this level takes is driving through and making sure that
you don't hit the bad item boxes. If you check your bottom screen as you
approach some items, the bad ones will show as red dots, and the good ones as
blue dots, so you can check which one you need to hit before you actually get
to them. However, here is a list of how they go, with the X's being bad ones,
and the O's being the good ones.

1: XOXX
2: XOX
3: XOXX
4: XXO
5: OXXX
6: XXO
7: XOXX
8: XXO
9: XXOX
10: XOX

As long as you position yourself for the next one and make sure to steer clear
of the boulders in the cliff section, you should be able to ace this level no
problem.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

Mission 4-6, and all other breaking box while avoiding fakes. The fake boxes do
not rotate at all. Look for the one that is changing shape, it's the right one.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-7
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 10 gates!
Character: Toad
Required Time: 20:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
If you don't realize the change in wording in this level's description, you
might get confused in the beginning. As you begin you'll see that the gates
don't have numbers, which could cause you to think you'll have to figure out
the order, but in all actuality, you can drive through them in any order. The
problem this poses is that you have no idea which order is the best, but that's
what I'm here for! To guide you through in all your difficult times! Anyway,
when you begin, boost through the first gate, and then continue forward, but go
around the bumper in the middle, making sure to go around on the right side.
Then, go through the gate in front of you, missing the moving bumping just a
small margin. Go to the left, and go through the gate there and continue in a
clockwise circle and and go through the next three gates. Now go back in the
direction you came from, and this time go to your right, around the outside of
the beginning, going in a clockwise circle this time (kind of like going in a
figure 8). Now simple go in a large circle around the outside and you'll end up
passing through the rest of the gates. Simple once you get the order down.
-----------------------------------------------------
Tip By Andrew Polk:

Mission 4-7, boost forward, take a slide to the left going down through that
first gate, then go into the gutter, drifting around at the bottom to the two
down there, then get the two at the first set of moving bumpers, and begin the
slide for the last 4. (I'm not that good at drawing a mental image.)
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 4-8
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Perform 9 power-slide turbo boosts in 1 lap!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: 17:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Once again the powerslide level takes the place as the 8th mission in the
level. However, this level is easier than the other powerslide levels by far.
When you begin, turn quickly around the first corner, staying close to the
right, but don't powerslide. Powerslide on the next turn, watching out for the
puddles. Then quickly powerslide on the next turn to the right, once again
trying to stay close to the inside when you do it so that you can cut time off
of your lap. Powerslide to your left around the next turn, and then on the next
2 right turns be sure to powerslide some more. Then powerslide on the sharp
turn to your left, and then the sharp turn to your right, hugging the curb.
Then simple go straight on the bouncy part, don't feel obligated to waste time
turning left and right. If you go in a straight line through this part, you'll
save a lot of time. Then at the end of the wiggles, powerslide left around the
really sharp U-turn corner, and then make your final powerslide to your right,
and go straight onto the finish line.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Boss Battle
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect 60 coins while avoiding King Boo!
Character: Peach
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This is an annoying boss level not only because there are 50 coins and you
can't dodge him, but also because you're not exactly fighting a boss. However,
the level isn't only annoying, it's actually a bit difficult if you don't have
any idea what you're doing. When you start off, go straight, collect the two
coins, and then get the coins on the circle in front of you. It's easiest if
you simple powerslide in a circle around it. Then you will be hit by Boo and
you'll have to chase him to get the coins back, but there's a trick to it.

After he hits you you can drive around and he'll automatically move so he is
always the same distance away from your cart. The best thing to do it make it
so he's positioned inside a piece of lava, because then he will have to take
time to move out of the level and onto the land, and during that time you can
position yourself so that he sees you in front of him when he comes on land,
thus making it so you can get your coins back.

However, if you can't do that correctly, then you simply have to chase him down
and hit him in the back to make it so you can get your coins back. Don't forgot
that there are circles on this level and powersliding is one of your abilities.

Continue to do this, collecting coins and then reclamining them until you have
all of them. Trying to get all the coins on a circle (and don't leave a few)
before getting hit so that you don't have to leave them and have to come all
the way back for them. If you're able to capture your coins back quick enough,
you should have no problem getting a triple star rank on this.

ALTERNATE BOSS STRATEGY
Submitted By rush60002

Lava-Reset Method:

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DONT MISS A SINGLE COIN!!! Ok, so at the
beginning get a rocket start and go straight ahead. Collect the two coins and
then powerslide in a clockwise fashion and collect the rest. Once you have
collected all the coins on the ring King Boo should be about ready to charge
you. So after you collect the last coin jump into the lava in the center.
This should not only reset King Boo, but also it will place your cart in the
appropriate position for the next part. Once you have been placed on the
ground, accellerate, preferably with another rocket boost, and turn right,
collect all the coins on the ring, moving in a CLOCKWISE fashion again, using a
power slide and also keep going around the ring even after alll of the coins
are collected. Then there should be a line of three coins about a quarter of
the way clockwise around the circle from where you started, grab those and hop
into the lava in the center of the ring in front of you, again to prevent boo
from stealing your coins (and resetting him) and placing you in the right
position for the next part. Once you hit the ground, accellerate, preferably
another rocket boost, and once again turn right. Once again collect the coins
by powersliding in a CLOCKWISE fashion, and keep going around the circle and
collect the three lined up coins. This time instead of jumping into the lava
infront of you, collect the coins on the ring by powersliding in a
COUNTER-CLOCKWISE fashion. Collecting the last coin can get kind of close
sometimes, but if you do it fast enough King Boo should not hit you and you
should get the 3-star rating. I personally average about 4:15 left on the
clock when I use this method, plus it doesnt require chasing King Boo all over
the place.

Mission 5-1
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before the stray Chain Chomp!
Character: Peach
Required Time: ?
Level: Peach's Garden
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is a simple race that only gets complicated if you manage to smash
into the Chain Chomp and get your mushrooms strew from here to New Mexico.
Boost out of the start and grab the middle item box and power slide to the
left. Continue forward, and when you get to the flowers, use your first
mushroom to simply cut across. If done well, you should be ahead of him by now,
and should stay that way. Continue onward, and in the next set of flowers,
don't use your mushroom, just simply cut around it in the small space it
provides. Then, on the final flower patch, use your second mushroom to smash
through it. Then, when you get to the path that has the moles on it, in the
beginning there will be a green patch of grass that you can use your final
mushroom to boost across. Simply powerslide around the corners and you should
end up with a triple star score.

Mission 5-2
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive backward and collect 15 coins! If you hit a snowman, you
fail!
Character: Donkey Kong
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level, simply put, is ridiculously easy, as are all the drive backwards
ones. Begin by holding B and driving through the coins. Now go in a
countclockwise circle, being sure you never let go of the B button and never
hit a snowman. As long as you collect all the coins in one pass you'll easily
end up with three stars, giving you a nice break from the last few
semi-difficult levels.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 5-3
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Destroy all 5 item boxes!
Character: Toad
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level gives you floating boxes that attempt to run away from you. However,
they will follow a set path so there are a few ways to tackle this level
without problems. The way I found the easiest is to begin with a power boost
and then a power slide. Now, ignore the fact that they boxes will go out into
the ocean, and drive ahead to where they come in. Try to collect the first box,
and then STOP right where you collected it. The other 4 boxes will then
automatically hit you if you stand still. If you take a bit of time to take out
the first one, then you can speed up the process by going backwards with B and
using your minimap to steer. It sounds difficult, but it is a lot easier to
execute. Once again you have another triple star.

Mission 5-4

Description: Drive through all 10 numbered gates in order!
Character: Bowser
Required Time: 20:000 Remaining
Level: Bowser's Castle 2
-----------------------------------------------------
This level adds some new elements in to a gate level to attempt to make it a
bit more tricky. However, once you get the path you should take and the
powersliding techniques down, it shouldn't pose too much of a problem. When you
start, power boost, but immediately begin drifting. Within your drift, align
yourself to go through the first gate, then power boost into the arrow booster
on the ground, and go through the second gate. Powerslide around the next
corner and into the third gate. Continue on, going through the gates, but when
possible, take the Orange and Yellow boosts on the ground, and not the rainbow
jumps. This usually requires you to the make sharp turns around corners, but
it's not impossible. On the 9th gate, drift EARLY on, so that you can align
yourself with the gate better, and not hit anything. If you hit something in
the level, due to your sucky acceleration, you will lose your three star
ranking opportunity. Finally, for the 10th gate, go around the Thwomps if you
need, as it's easy to get through the gate even if you go around them.

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 5-5
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Complete 1 lap in the opposite direction within the time limit!
Character: Mario
Required Time: 19:000 Remaining
Level: Mushroom Ridge
-----------------------------------------------------
The directions in the level are definitely confusing, as the first time I did
this level I turned my kart around and started going backwards. When I passed
the finish line and nothing happened I knew something was wrong. But they've
already flipped the track backwards for you, so no need for you to turn around.
Anyway, the key to beating this level is to powerboost, and to get all the item
boxes. Most of the level is self explanatory, all you have to do is dodge the
cars while powersliding around the corner. Try to keep your powerslides as
tucked into the inside as you can, and you'll beat this level with flying
colors.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 5-6
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 18 coins!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This is another level that takes place on a battle level. However, this one is
simple because there is a quick laid out path that is there for you to use to
triple star this. Zoom out at the beginning and collect the two coins, and
quickly turn sharply around the cream puff and you'll see a row of coins.
Collect those, and go up the cherry and you'll get another coin. Now, collect
the two coins in front of you, turn around the puff, and get the row of coins
and go up the cherry once more. Repeat with the last row of coins and you'll
earn yourself a triple star on your first try, with no thought given to it!
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 5-7
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 8 numbered gates in order!
Character:
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level seems quite easy as first, and then as you progess into it, you'll
find that it seems a lot harder. However, after you go through it and triple
star it on your first try, you'll notice they've set it up to be not very hard.
(Is it just me or are these missions getting easier and easier the further we
go along). Zoom out, and then simple continue straight up the mountain going
through the gates. As long as you stay near the center, and go straight for the
gates without faltering, you'll be able to complete this without breaking,
turning, or slowing down for a snowball. All of them will go around you or by
you, and you'll be able to get through the level without problem. However, the
hardest part is that you'll have to position yourself on the bumps so that you
don't go flying off to the side. Also, for the rainbow boost, don't slow down
for it. Just fly over it at full speed and you'll be able to get through fine.
Another triple star for your record.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 5-8
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before Mario!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: ?
Level: Mario Circuit
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is one of the easier levels to beat the Staff Ghosts on, so when you
come into this you may be thinking, "This will be easy as pie." Well, you
shouldn't, because there's a catch to it. The makers amplified the enemies in
this, so instead of a couple goombas, you'll get armies of them, and instead of
flowers on the side of the road, they'll have taken over the middle. However,
once you get the hang of where they show up, you'll be able to dodge them with
ease. As you go around the corners of the level, POWERSLIDE WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
That's very important to being able to keep up a top speed. Also, make sure you
get both item boxes. Whether you get mushrooms or a star in the first one, be
sure to cut across the desert area with the large flower in the pipe. And use
your second item to cut across the small grass patches where the small flowers
are. Other than that you should be able to ace this level blindfolded (okay,
maybe not, but you get the point).
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Boss Battle
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Hit the Big Bob-omb with 3 Bob-ombs!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Does anyone else find that the music that plays on the mission select screen
when you're going to face a boss is really annoying? I sure do. Anyway, this
boss battle is far easier than the last. When you begin, two item boxes and a
bomb will drop down. Simply drive to your right and collect the box, then face
the Big Bob-omb and shoot it at him. However, don't make the mistake of doing
it while holding down, as you'll end up setting it right behind you.

The Big Bob-omb will be blown back. Simply drive over to him and wait until he
gets up, and two items and another bomb will come down. Grab an item box and
shoot a bomb at him before he throws the bomb at you, or make sure you get away
from the bomb if he manages to throw it before you get him. Now, after he gets
up he will jump far into the air. Follow him on the map and soon he'll stop in
midair and three bombs and an item box will appear below him. Quickly drive
through, collecting the item box, and then turn around and shoot it at him
immediately after he falls. If you wait too long he'll jump back up and repeat
the process. If that happens, just wait until he comes back down and shoot him,
because you won't need to collect the item box this time.

Do this quickly, and you'll end up with another easy three star level in the
bag.

Mission 6-1
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive backward across the spinning bridge! If you fall, you're out!
Character: Bowser
Required Time: ?
Level: Bowser's Castle
-----------------------------------------------------
My theory that the missions are getting easier as you go along has finally been
proved. This level requires no skill, just two eyes (or even one will do).
Start out by going backwards, and continue going backwards. If the wheel starts
to turn right, hold right until you're going up enough that you won't fall off.
If it starts going left, hold left so that you turn right. It will most likely
change direction once while you're in the middle, but you should be able to
finish before it changes again, earning you a triple star.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-2
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Get Stars and run over 15 Rocky Wrenches!
Character: Wario
Required Time: ?
Level: Airship Fortress
-----------------------------------------------------
Okay, I changed my mind about the missions getting easier. It seems the
missions jumped from being so easy that it's annoying, to being so hard that I
want to cut my head off. This level requires quite a bit of luck, along with a
bit of skill. The point is to use stars and run over the little moles that poop
out of the ground. The level is simple so there's not much of a walkthrough,
but here are some tips that should be able to help you:

DON'T go into the dead end places. Those take too much time to turn around and
you end up wasting precious seconds.

Don't start with a power boost, start just fast enough that you can use a star
before hitting the one right in front of you.

If you see like a row of 4 of them go down in front of you, try to get one
around you, and then go back and get the ones that just went down as they'll
all pop up again soon.

If you see that one or two has been up for awhile, don't go after them, as
they'll go down before you get there.

And finally, try to drive over closed on as you go towards where you're going,
as if they pop up as you're over them they'll die and you'll get another quick
point.

All I can say for this level is... Good luck! ;)
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-3
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 30 coins.
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: ?
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
This level gives you piles of dirt and grime and expects you to smash through
it without slowing down, all while collecting a total of 30 coins. When you
begin, boost out of the starting gate, and continue straight through the coins,
through the mushroom, over the mud, and through more coins. Then, drift the
corner, and collect the coins, and continue. Each corner requires you to drift
around it if you want to collect the coins without slowing down. However, be
careful when you turn in the mud as you'll slide a little. When you get to the
area with the bumps, collect the coins by going in between the bumps, don't go
over them. If you're able to master drifting at the right time, you'll be able
to pick up three stars in no time.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-4
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Destroy all 10 item boxes!
Character: Mario
Required Time: ?
Level: Block Fort
-----------------------------------------------------
Here you are placed on a battleground and are forced to collect all 10 item
boxes, each of which continue a mushroom. This level is hard to walkthrough as
if you get off by even a small amount, you'd have to start over. However, when
you start, boost forward, and turbo boost around the corner and collect the box
you saw run away. Then, turn left and mushroom up the ramp, and turn SHARPLY to
the left around the corner, collecting a box, and use that mushroom to boost
straight forward into the box ahead of you. Then you can continue on however
you want, but the boxes are in the following locations:

1: Floating around the bottom, then around the red second level
2: Floating on the second level around the ramps in the middle
3: Floating around the second level of the blue fort
4: Floating up and then falling off the 3rd level of the blue fort
5: Floating around the second level of the green fort
6: Floating up to the third level of the green fort, then fall and floating
around the second level
7: Floating around the third level of the yellow fort
8: Floating around the second level of the yellow fort
9: Floating around the third level of the red fort
10: Floating around the top level of all the forts in a circle

If you work out a path you can follow through without fail, you shouldn't have
a problem with getting three stars, as they are very lenient on time.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-5
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Drive through all 8 numbered gates in order!
Character: Mario
Required Time: ?
Level: Sky Garden
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is fun because it gives you mushrooms and forces you to use the
"shortcuts" in the level. Start out by boosting yourself out and turbo boosting
around the corner, passing through the first gate. The second gate is on the
shortcut, so aim at the brown jump, and use one of your mushrooms from the item
box to zip over to it, and then use a second mushroom to get across the rest of
the clouds quickly. Power boost around the corner, and head through the next
gate, and then use your final mushroom on the brown jump, aimed at the next
gate, and go across the bridge, drifting through the gate and then power
sliding forward. Get the item box and continue through the fifth gate, and then
power boost to the right. The gate will be on your left, so aim at it and use a
mushroom to get across the clouds, and then quickly turn left. Pass through the
seventh gate, and then use your final two mushrooms to get you through the
eighth gate, earning you another triple star.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-6
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Perform 14 power-slide turbo boosts in 1 lap!
Character: Yoshi
Required Time: 13:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
When you read the description the number of power slides seems really high, but
after looking at all the turns in the level, you'll find that there's more than
enough to get 14 turns. However, if you're going for a three star score, you're
going to need to power slide at every chance, and make sure to stay out of the
grass. Also, when you power slide, be sure to hug tight to the inside of the
turn, but don't cross into the grass, because any slowdowns can hurt your time.
As long as you powerslide at every turn possible, and multiple times at the
large turns, you shouldn't have problems getting a three star rating on this
level.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-7
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Collect all 40 coins!
Character: Toad
Required Time: ?
Level: Tick Tock Clock
-----------------------------------------------------
As I first was doing this level, I labelled it as one of my worst favorite
levels, just because it was so annoying because of the coins scattered
everywhere (in a star shaped pattern at least). However, once I got down a
pattern to doing it, I found that it was actually quite simple (then again,
most of these are really simple once you get them down).

When you stay, speed boost to the right, collecting all the coins in a line
until the very end of that row. At the wall, turn around and face the line of
coins that were connected to the last coin you got, but wait until the red hand
goes by, then immediately go across and collect those. However, at the speed
boost at the end, MISS the last coin, and speed boost to the left, drifting,
and you'll end up at a bunch of signs. From the signs, there should be a line
of coins going to the left. Go through that line of coins, and then turn around
and wait for the hand to go by, and then go through the line that was connected
to that, and then turn around and you should only have the 6 left in the
middle. Get the three near you immediately, and then go around to the other
side and wait for the two hands to cross each other and then dive in the for
the last three.

It might take a few times, but once you get the timing down it becomes a lot
simpler to get a three star ranking.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Mission 6-8
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Reach the finish before Peach!
Character: Bowser
Required Time: Under 45:000
Level: Peach's Garden
-----------------------------------------------------
This level is another race that puts you up against an opponent in a level
designed around this, this time being Peach. You also have to go along the
level backwards, which may cause you to adjust your strategy. In the level
you'll have to pass through three flower patches, but you'll also get three
chances at items. I found that it is the easiest to do when you get a star for
the first item, and save it until you get the the first flower patch, and use
it then, and grab a second item in the maze with the Chain Chomps pulling the
boxes behind them. Be careful in the maze, and use the map, because most of the
routes are blocked off. Then use your second star before the next flower patch,
and it should last through the third one too. Then for the last item, turn left
after you get it, and then use it immediately, because the end of the level is
coming up. If you end up getting mushrooms, be sure to save them for the flower
patches, because you won't cut it if you go around them (and there are signs
blocking one of them).
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Boss Battle
-----------------------------------------------------
Description: Use Mushroom boosts to hit Chief Chilly and knock him off the
stage 3 times!
Character: Luigi
Required Time: 4:30:000 Remaining
Level: ?
-----------------------------------------------------
Remember the first boss where you had to knock the Big Bob-omb off? This is
like that, but only he's a LOT stronger, and you have to do it three times.
Also, when you've knocked him off 2 times, he'll start jumping to dodge your
mushroom smashes, sending you flying into the water. Ready to defeat him in 30
seconds? I hope so.

Start by holding B and Down+Left. You'll scootch out of the way, but only hold
it long enough so that you can start holding A and zoom right behind him. Grab
the box in front of you, and turn quickly to your rich. Go back at him and
pound him into the water with the mushrooms. Now grab a new box, but stay near
where he fell in so when you jumps out he sees you again. As soon as you hear
the noise of him seeing you, run quickly and drift in a circle to the middle
and turn around and push him in immediately.

Do the same thing again, grab a box and stay where he fell in. When he jumps
out, wait for him to see you and then get out of the way as he runs towards the
edge. Now go at him, but instead of pounding your mushrooms, HIT HIM WITHOUT
USING A MUSHROOM FIRST. Then pound a mushroom into him. If you hit him
normally, it'll stun him so you can mushroom pound him. If you do it without
first hitting him you'll end up going flying into the water because he'll jump.

There, simple, easy, and done within 30 seconds. You've now not only triple
starred all 6 missions, but now you've opened up a 7th one! Hope you're ready!

Time Trial is a mode that allows to the best to show off what they got. It is
only available in single player, and the point of the game is to get the lowest
time on each of the circuits. Each time you play through, it will add your high
score to the high scores list. However, the high score list keeps track of the
top 5 scores, along with the top lap score for every single level. So instead
of simply competing against yourself, if you have friends with the game, you
can send your ghosts to each other, and it will also send their ghost data,
adding them to the Time Trials top scores. That way you can make sure that
you're the best among all your friends, and you can always see what their high
score is.

Also, each time you race on a track, a ghost for that track is saved. The next
time you race on the track you can choose to race against your ghost (or
friends' ghosts) to challenge yourself and see how well you can do.

###############################################################################

Balloon Battle is the first of the two types of battle modes. The point of the
game is to use items, along with your wit and strategy, to destroy all of the
other players' balloons. To do this, you must hit them with a star, hit them
with an item, or have them fall off the edge (or kindly knock them off). When
you begin you will have one balloon over your head. Up in the corner you will
see you have 4 balloons in storage. At any time you get move balloons from your
storage and blow them up on your kart either by holding the select button or by
blowing into the microphone. If you try to accelerate while doing it though,
you'll end up having to start over with that balloon. The quickly way is to
while moving just let go of the A Button and start blowing into your mic.
Always remember though, that if you're down to one balloon and you have some in
storage, find a safe place to inflate your balloons, because if you lose all
your balloons, whether you have some in storage or not, you will lose the game.

###############################################################################

Shine Runners is a new addition to the game, and it lets you duke it out in
battle a whole different way. As the start Shines (golden sunshine shaped large
coins from Super Mario Sunshine) will randomly appear. The point is to try to
get the most shines, and to keep them for the longest amount of time. At any
one time there can only be 9 shines on the stage. Then, once time runs out, the
player (or players in the case of a tie) with the least amount of shines is
kicked from the game, and the time resets. This continues until there is only
one player remaining. If all players have the same amount of shines, time is
reset and you continue until there is an uneven amount of shines.

If at any time a player is hit with an item, a player with a star, or knocked
off the stage, they will lose a shine and it is discarded to the field so that
any player is free to pick it up.

[ Boost Start A Race ]
To boost you simply have to press and hold acceleration once the 2 starts to
spin out. As long as you hit it between when it starts to spin out and when it
stops you should get the boost. However, there seems to be an EXACT time that
you can press it and have the boost last longer, but it seems that it is rare
to do and isn't something you have to worry about in other players because it
is mostly luck. Also, once you get it down by sight, you can listen to where
BEEP is and use the sound to do it, so you can get a speed boost without even

currently have no specific information on routers, so the message board would
be better to ask that).

Question: Is it possible to dodge Blue Shells?
Answer: The only way to dodge a blue shell is to place a Bob-omb right behind
you before it hits you. This will stop it from hitting you, and you can finally
keep your place in first. (Thanks Derek Martinez and Kasim Siddiqui for the
correction!) You can also use a Boo to turn invisibile before it hits you!
(Thanks J T!) Just remember, when you're in first these items aren't very
common unless you have a high item rating.

Question: How do you change your emblem?
Answer: Go into options and choose edit. Then you can change your name or your
emblem.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: How do you unlock __________?
Answer: Check the characters section.
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: Is Goomba a raceable character?
Answer: Nope!
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: Can you unlock more levels in Simple Multiplayer mode or Online Play?
Answer: Nope!
-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: How do I unlock staff ghosts?
Answer: To do this, you have to come close to, or beat the staff's ghost time
in the first place (but you cannot see it, so you just have to do good). Then,
reload the level in Time Trial's and choose use the staff's ghost for that
level. You have to do this individually for each level, and be prepared,
because most of them are very difficult!

Question: What is Snaking?
Answer: Snaking is when you powerboost back and forth on a straightaway. To do
it, you find a straightaway, and then quickly do a drift to the side, and
powerboost forward, and immediately drift in the other direction and powerboost
forward again. You do this back and forth and never stop powerboosting. This
allows you to quickly get ahead in Grand Prix races, and is a godsend in Staff
Ghost races. As you get more skilled you can snake on most of the levels,
including some of the hard ones. Snaking is easiest when using a kart that has
a low drift skill and a high handling skill, but can be executed with any kart.
Some people look down on it, but it is not cheating, no matter how you look at
it.

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: How do I get stars by my name!?
Answer: Stars are determined by the scores you got on your Grand Prix races.
For one star you need to get at least a * on every Grand Prix cup (all engine
classes), for two stars you need a ** on every one, and for three you need a
*** on all of them.

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: How do people cheat? I keep seeing them fly off the edge and then
appear right back up in front of me!
Answer: It's lag, they aren't cheating. Plain and simple. This happens when the
information from your opponent's DS isn't sent to yours fast enough, so on your
screen their kart will continue as though it had no input, most often times
ending with them falling or you hitting them with something. However, they
never fell or were hit with something on theirs. That's why once the
information finally gets to your DS you see them magically appear just fine.

-----------------------------------------------------
Question: Why do my wins and losses seem to jump around by more than 1?
Answer: When you play an online match, you will get one win for EVERY person
you beat in that race and one loss for EVERY person who beat you in that race.
This allows you to rack up wins (or losses) quickly in 4 player games online!
