-------------------------------------------------------------------------------'

First of all, start up the game. It will have all the Game Freak and Nintendo
credits. Then it will have the intro video. It's quite boring and not very
informative, but it's still way better than Fire Red/Leaf Green's intro! Then
it will show a 3d model of Parukia (Diaruga if you are on Diamond). Press Start
or A. Then press Start or A again to start a new game. The following dialogue
will display

"Welcome to the world of Pokemon! My name is [Professor] Nanakamado!"

Then just press A until a list of questions comes up. The first one is Button
Layout, the second one is just info on your story in Japanese, and the third one
is Start Game. Here is some translated information.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
3x.	Button Layout |

                                                                               |
Directional Pad: Used to control your character and select options on the menu |
                                                                               |
A Button: The main action button. Use this to talk to people, read signs, etc. |
                                                                               |

                                                                               |
X Button: Brings up the menu |
                                                                               |
Y Button: Activates a selected item from your bag for easy access |
                                                                               |
                                                                               |
If, while a message box is active, two squares appear at the right side of |
the box, (the top one is white and the bottom one is red) this means that the |
touch screen requires you to do something. |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------'

After you select "Start Game", just press A to go through the dialogue, until a
Pokeball appears on the touch screen.

When the two squares flash, touch the circle in the middle of the ball.

The screen will flash and Munchlax will emerge
next to Nanakamado. Keep skipping through the dialogue until the male and
female protagonists appear on the screen.

Use the arrow keys to select which one you'd like (the girl looks WAY better),
and press A. Then it will ask you to confirm, so press A again. Then it will
ask you for your name.

The keyboard on D/P is controlled on the touch screen. The 4 yellow buttons
are: (from left to right) Hiragana, Katakana, English, and Numbers and Symbols.

Touch the letters of your name, and press Start, or touch the purple button in
the top right.

If you make a mistake, press the B button or the pink button in the top right.
When you have dome that, it will ask you to confirm again, so press A.

Skip through the dialogue again, until the picture of a strange boy
appears on the screen. It will ask you to select a name for him
(Flashback of: "This is my grandson. He's been your rival ever since you were
babies. Err... What was his name again?" - Fire Red/Leaf Green LOL), so either
type in a new one or select one of the premade names.

I used "Akito", which is the third one
down, because it sounds cool.

Confirm again. Skip through the rest of the
dialogue, (Your very own Pokemon adventure is about to unfold!) until you
appear on the screen and shrink as usual. Let the game begin!

---------------------------------.
3a.	Your Journey Begins |
---------------------------------'

NOTE: From here on, the protagonist will be known as Sam.
NOTE: From here on, your second "rival" will be known as Akito

When your game begins, you find yourself, not in your room, but watching a
television news broadcast. It says something about Gyarados being at Fury
Lake. Press A after a few seconds and it disappears.

Then you find yourself in your room. And a message will appear saying that you
should go to Fury Lake for some reason. I noticed the Japanese word for "Next
Week" in the dialogue, but I'm not sure what that has to do with this. You can
explore your room if you'd like, even though it's not very interesting. The PC
doesn't work at the moment, so no potions.

Walk downstairs.

Your mother will walk towards you. She will say Akito is looking for you. When
you try to walk out of the door, she will stop you again. She says something
pointless about Pokemon.

Walk outside, and take your first look at Shinou. Enter Futaba Town.

			.-----------------------.
			| 3a-1. FUTABA TOWN	|
			'-----------------------'

You will notice that Shinou is set out in a sort of 3d way. The houses are
definetly 3d models (try walking to each side of a building and you can see
the walls), but the citizens are all 2d sprites. It's quite strange, but
it's a cool effect.

You can explore Futaba Town if you'd like, but there's not much to see. There
are four houses, set out in a square.

Go to the top left house.

Akito will burst out of it and scream (in very big letters) DONG!
Then he will realise that it is you (exclamation mark over head)

Then he will ramble on and say something about 100. Then he will run off, then
run back to you and say something else. Then he will run back into his house.

Walk inside and go upstairs.

Talk to Akito. He will be using his PC to transfer items. He will notice you
and ramble on and say something about 1000. Then he will run away. Again.

Go downstairs and out of the house.

Now you are able to leave Futaba Town. When you walk into Route 101, Akito
will be waiting for you. He will say something about the news report, and
then he will start following you.

Joy

Travel left, as it's the only way you are able to go right now. You will enter
"Shinji Vicinity".

How strange.

			.-----------------------.
			| 3a-2. SHINJI VICINITY	|
			'-----------------------'

Keep travelling left, then go up when the path ends. There will be a little
opening under a tree.

Walk into it, and Akito will start rambling on about Gyarados again. Then you
lmay enter.

The first thing you will see is Professor Nanakamado and the girl/boy (whoever
you didn't choose). They will be gazing out at the lake and rambling. They
deserve a ramblers badge. Skip all the dialogue, and they will walk away.
Akito has to back out of the path to they can get past.

Then Akito will notice that they have left their suitcase there...and he will
take you to it.

Skip through the dialogue, and two Mukkuru birds will fly towards you. Press
A to skip some dialogue, and then you may choose your first Pokemon!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
3a-3.	Pokemon Select |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
                                                                               |
This would have to be the coolest Pokemon selection screen ever. A 3d suitcase |
will open, revealing some books and 3 Pokeballs. Press A and a hand will |
appear over the first ball, and it will start to rock. |
                                                                               |
The Pokemon are (from left to right): Naetoru (Grass), Hikozaru (Fire), |
and Pocchama (Water) |
                                                                               |
       ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
                                Naetoru |
                                 Grass |
                                                                               |
                              Advantages: |
                                                                               |
Seeing as I only just got this game, I can't list many advantages, but i do |
know that you will fly through the first few gyms if you have this guy. He is |
super effective against them! |
                                                                               |
                            Disadvantages: |
                                                                               |
None known yet |
                                                                               |

									       |
                              Advantages: |
									       |
Not sure. He doesn't seem to be very good against the first gym (rock), but |
he would be very effective for the second gym (grass). He does seem a pretty |
good choice |
									       |
                             Disadvantages: |
								 	       |
He is SO UGLY!!! |
									       |
       ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
                              Pocchama |
                                Water |
									       |
                              Advantages: |
									       |
A very good Pokemon. I chose him because he looks so cute! He is great against |
the first gym, horrible with the second gym, but he has some good moves and |
is definetly recommended by me. Evolves at Level 16 and 30-something. |
									       |
                             Disadvantages: |
									       |
Horrible with the second gym. I failed this one so many times. |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------'

The battle with Mukkuru is very easy. You are level 5, he is level 2. Even if
you are a Pokemon novice, you should be able to do this pretty easily.

I'll explain the battle screeen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
3a-4.	Battle Screen |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
                                                                               |
Top Screen: |
									       |
This is where all the action takes place. You just have to watch this screen. |
									       |
									       |
Bottom Screen: |
									       |
This is where you make all your battle choices. I'll explain the buttons. |
									       |
									       |
Big Red Button in the Middle = Attack |
									       |
Touch this button to bring up the attack options. Then touch one of your |
attacks to perform it. |
									       |
									       |
And the three Bottom Buttons are (from left to right): Items, Flee, and |
Pokemon. These are not available at the moment, because you don't have any |
items or Pokemon, and you can't flee. |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------'

So, after you've finished your first battle, and received a pitiful 16
experience points (not even enough to grow a level!), Akito will start rambling
again, so skip through that.

The boy/girl (whoever you didn't choose), will come back and realise that
they've left the suitcase there (a little slow), and I also think he realises
that two Pokemon have disappeared from the case.

He takes the bag and leaves.

Akito says some more things, and then you both walk away.

Back outside, Akito will start following you again. So walk back the same way
you came, until you see Nanakamado and the boy/girl.

Akito will say something, and Nanakamado will walk towards you. I think he knows
that you have one of his precious Pokemon. And I think he will let you keep it!

He walks away, and, after saying something, so does the boy/girl.

Akito will say something else, and then you will be magically transported to
your house. Your mother will say something to you. It's quite a long
dialogue, so skip through it.

She will then give you the running shoes!!! WOOT!!!

Hold B while walking to activate the running shoes. In Shinou, you are able to
run anywhere, which is a big improvement. In previous games you were only
allowed to run outside, which is a big inconvenience.

Anyway, go back outside, and go up to the route that you were on before, except,
this time, go right. You may now enter the grass!

			.-----------------------.
			|3a-5. ROUTE 201	|
			'-----------------------'

			Pokemon Available: Mukkuru, Bippa

I suggest that you keep battling Pokemon in Route 201 until you reach Level 10
(which I know is hard, but it's worth it!).

If you need to heal your Pokemon, just go back to Futaba Town, talk to your
mother, and she will heal them for you.

After you reach Level 10, keep moving right, until you reach the next town.

			.-----------------------.
			|3b-1. MASAGO TOWN	|
			'-----------------------'

The boy/girl will approach you, and he will lead you to a building. This is
Nanakamado's Office.

Akito will come out of it and scream DONG! Again. Then he will realise that
it is you. Again. He will run away after rambling, and then the boy/girl
will say something, and you both walk into the office.

Nanakamado will say some things to you, and then he will ask you if you want to
give a nickname to your Pokemon. Yes is the top option, No is the bottom one.
If you press Yes accidentaly, just press Start and it will keep it's original
name.

Then he will ask you to confirm this choice. Press either Yes or No.

Now he will ramble on some more, and the Boy/Girl will say something to you.
Then back to Nanakamado. Just skip through all the dialogue, and when a choice
appears, press A. You will receive the Pokedex!!!

Just skip through the rest of the dialogue. The boy/girl will leave, and you
are free to move again.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
3b-2.	Pokedex |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
									       |
The Pokedex option now appears on the top of the menu. |
									       |
You control the Pokedex with the touch screen, while the information appears on|
the top screen. |
									       |
To change your Pokemon selection, either spin the Pokeball at the right of the |
touch screen, or use the up/down arrows. |
									       |
To go to the first entry in the Pokedex, press the top Blue Button in the |
centre. |
									       |
To go to the last entry in the Pokedex, press the bottom Blue Button in the |
centre. |
									       |
To search, press the green button with the magnifying glass on it at the top |
left. |
									       |
To view the selected Pokemon's data, press either the green button with a book |
on it, or press the A button. |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------'

Leave Nanakamado's Office. Boy/Girl will be waiting for you. He/She will talk to
you, and lead you on a tour of the city.

You will see the revamped Pokemon Centre (looks awesome!), the revamped
PokeMart (Looks very cool), and that's it.

Then he will say something, and he will walk away, out of the city.

I have checked, and none of the residents of Masago Town give you any presents.
Which is very stingy in my opinion.

Go and heal your Pokemon and the Pokemon Centre, and you can buy some Pokeballs
at the PokeMart if you'd like.

Head south, you will reach some sand, so keep moving until you reach Route 219.

			.-----------------------.
			| ROUTE 219	|
			'-----------------------'

This is not going to be considered a section, because the only thing we're going
to do here is get an item. Head southwest, and you will see a small Pokeball
on the sand.

Pokeballs like this will appear all over the game, they contain items

Walk up to it, and press A. It contains an antidote.

Head back north to Masago Town, and out into Route 201

--------------------------.
3b-3. Back to Futaba Town |
--------------------------'

Just run back through Route 201. It is a good idea to catch Mukkuru and Bippa
with the Pokeballs that you just bought.

Enter Futaba Town and go to your house. Talk to your mother, and she will heal
your Pokemon. And she will give you the "Venture Note", which you will put in
your Key Items Pocket.

She will ramble on for a bit, and then Akito's mother will enter the house.

I think she says that she doesn't know where he is. She will give you some
"Delivery Goods" to take to him, which you will also put in your Key Items
Pocket.

After she finishes rambling, and leaves the house, head back to Masago Town.

Leave Masago Town by heading North, and enter ROUTE 202

			.-----------------------.
			|3b-4. ROUTE 202	|
			'-----------------------'

			New Pokemon Available: None

Boy/Girl will be waiting for you there. He/She will show you how to catch
Pokemon, which is something I forgot to explain.

Just watch the video, it's quite simple.

When he is finished, he will talk to you, and he will give you 5 Pokeballs.
Which is very nice of him, in my opinion.

Head west, and then north, and there will be a boy standing there. Walk in
front of him, and an exclamation mark will appear over his head. This means
he's about to start a Pokemon Battle with you.

A Trainer Battle is exactly the same as a wild Pokemon battle, the exception
being that you can't catch trainers Pokemon.

If your Pokemon is up to Level 10 like I said before, you should go through
these battles really easily.

Anyway, this trainer is called Yuuta, I believe, and he has a Level 5 Mukkuru.
He will give you 80 Yen if you beat him.

Continue walking east. You will battle another trainer, Miniskirt Rimi (¿?),
who has two Level 3 Bippas, which will give you 36 Experience Points each, and
you will receive 48 Yen for winning.

Keep travelling North, and you will meet another trainer before long, called
Katsumi, who has a Level 5 Korinku, and Electric type Pokemon. Just hit it with
Tackle a couple of times. You should receive 63 Experience points and 80 Yen.

Now travel west, past the sign, until you reach the Pokeball in the grass. The
boy standing there isn't a trainer, btw. The Pokeball contains a Potion.

Turn back and head north at the sign. Enter Kotobuki City

			.-----------------------.
			|3b-5. KOTOBUKI CITY	|
			'-----------------------'

Boy/Girl will walk up to you and start talking to you. After that he/she just
walks away.

Heal your Pokemon and buy some supplies at the PokeMart if necessary.

Let's see what there is to do in Kotobuki City. First, there is the Pokemon
School, which has nothing of interest except Akito. More on that later

There is also the Poketchi company's HQ here, you will be receiving a Poketchi
soon. More on that later, too.

But for now...

Enter the building that looks like a school opposite the Pokemon Center.

You will see someone standing at the blackboard, with their back to you.
It is Akito. Talk to him, and he will give you the Town Map. Then he will say
some more things and run away again.

Now we must set the Town Map onto Y for easy access. Go to X Menu - Bag (third
option down, see Translation Guide).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
3b-6.	Bag |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
                                                                               |
The bag is controlled with the touch screen. On there, you should see a |
Pokeball, and several circular buttons surrounding it. The buttons are (from |
left to right): |
									       |
General Items; |
HP/Healing Items; |
Pokeballs; |
HM/TM; |
Berries; |
Mail; |
¿Battle Items?; |
Key Items |
									       |
You can change your item pocket by touching the icon. You can change your item |
selection by spinning the Pokeball or pressing the up/down arrow keys. |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------'

Select Key Items, and Town Map should be the second item in the list. It has an
icon of a blue case with a yellow tab at the top. Press A, or touch the button
in the middle of the Pokeball, and move to the second option on the list. Press
A again. A small Y symbol should appear next to the item name.

Press B and exit the Bag

Now press Y, and the Town Map should activate.

Take a look around Shinou for a bit if you'd like.

When you're done, press B, and leave the School building.

Walk north up the road between the school and the Pokemon Centre. You should
see a man with brown hair and wearing purple clothes right in the middle of the
road just north.

He will see you and walk towards you. He will start explaining about Pokemon
Watches, or Poketchi. You can skip through his dialogue. You must now talk to
the three clowns in the city. Their locations are:

In front of a building just north of the fountain

Near the Poketchi HQ, just west of the above building

Between the Pokemon Centre and PokeMart

When you talk to them, and option will come up. Just press A and you will
receive different key Poketchi items

Once you have all three parts, go back and talk to the guy again.

After some rambling, you will receive the Poketchi! It automatically appears
on the bottom screen. The border colour is Pink if you are the girl, and Blue
if you are the boy. Let's take a look at it.

--Poketchi--

The Poketchi has several different options. These can be changed by pressing
the red button next to the clock.

Option 1 - Clock
Just a standard clock.

Option 2 - Calculator.
Calculator controlled with the touch screen.

Option 3 - Pedometer
Pedometer used to measure how many steps you have taken. Touch the C to reset
it

Option 4 - Party Stats
Just a quick look at the health of your party members. Touch the Pokemon to
hear them cry

More options will be available in the near future
------------

Now go to the mansion north of the PokeMart. Talk to the woman with two
Pokemon, and she will give you the Teacher's Nail (very strange)

Go back to the school (the nail doesn't belong to the teacher there),
and go to the right end of the place, with the two students sitting
on a mat. Battle them both by talking to them.

The one on the left side is called Naeto, and he has a Level 6 Abra.
You will receive 96 EXP and 120 Yen.

The other one also has a Level 6 Abra. 96 EXP and 120 Yen again.

Now continue talking to the student on the left side, and
you will receive HM 10!!!

Exit the school building

Head east, out into ROUTE 203. You're almost at your first badge!!!

			.-----------------------.
			|3b-7. ROUTE 203	|
			'-----------------------'
		New Pokemon Available: Korinku, Subomi

Akito will be there. Talk to him and he will battle you!

---Begin Trainer Battle - Akito---

Naetoru Hizokaru
Hizokaru	Pocchama

900 Yen Received
---End Trainer Battle - Akito---

He will talk for a bit, and then run away. You might want to go back and heal
your Pokemon.

You can head north up the grass if you want to get the Pokeball (Pokeball
received), and on the way, you can battle the trainer there.

Head east up the stairs, battle the trainer, go up the next flight of steps,
battle the next trainer (Miniskirt Sayuri) who has a Level 4 Bippa, a Level 4
Subomi, and a Level 4 Mukkuru. 64 Yen.

Keep heading east. Battle the trainers if you'd like, or you can go through the
grass and head west until you reach some more steps. Go down there to get a
Pokeball (Repel).

Go into the cave opening in the east wall. Enter Kurogane Gate.

---KUROGANE GATE---

New Pokemon Available: Zubat, Geodude

Not going to do a section on this as it's very quick. Walk east, and you will
be stopped by a Hiker, who will give you HM 06 - Rock Smash!!!

Teach it to a Pokemon by selecting it from the TM/HM pocket and selecting
the first option, and pressing A. A list of your Pokemon will appear.

The Pokemon that you are able to teach the move to have an exclamation
mark at the end of the sentence on their little blue tablet thing.

Run east through the cave and battle both the trainers.
Then head out through the opening and go to Kurogane City!!! First Badge!!!

			.-----------------------.
			|3b-8. KUROGANE CITY	|
			'-----------------------'

Travel east, and at the bottom of the stairs, the boy will stop you and take
you to the Gym. Akito will be standing in front of it.

Talk to him. He will tell you that the Gym Leader is at the Coal Mines.

Head east, and then south along the path, down the stairs, and into the mine.

---COAL MINE---
New Pokemon Available: Machop, Onyx

Walk east to get the Pokeball (Defender), and then head down the path into the
next room.

Head south. Talk to all the construction workers. Some will battle you.
Especially talk to the person in the red hat at the south of the rock thing.

Make sure to collect the Pokeball (Potion) on the east side of the big black
square thing.

Now head back out of the coal mine
---------------

Head back to the gym, and you will see that you can enter it now!

Stock up on any healing products that you think are necessary, and make
sure that all your Pokemon are full health.

Walk inside!!!

			.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.
			|3b-9. STONE BADGE	|
			'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'
The first thing you will notice is that the gym has a 3d perspective. It's
pretty cool.

Anyhow, the two trainers just have Geodudes, so nothing major there. You can
skip them both pretty easily if you'd like.

Walk over the bridges and things until you reach the guy in the red hat that
you saw earlier. Talk to him and begin your first gym battle!!!

-----Begin Gym Battle - Hyouta-----

Hyouta is pretty easy. Rock type, as you can imagine. Here are his Pokemon:

Geodude - Level 12 - 187 EXP
Onyx - Level 12 - 277 EXP
Zugaidosu - Level 14 - 297 EXP

He has a Potion that he will use, so be warned.

1680 Yen!!!
-----End Gym Battle - Hyouta-----

After this, he will talk for a bit, and he will give you the Stone Badge!!!

The Stone Badge will enable you to use HM 10 - Rock Smash - Outside of Battle!
So now you can use it to smash rocks in caves, on grass, etc.

And now
