-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Version 1.05 (1/18/06): Made a couple additions in regard to badges I missed
when I first wrote the FAQ (Item-Fan Badge and Dynamic Badge A). I also added
a slight tidbit about the Mrs. Thwomp fight, thanks to Robert Robles!

Version 1.0 (12/23/05): The walkthrough and all supplemental sections are
complete to my knowledge. If you have any information, particularly about
enemy drops and badges I may have somehow missed, please let me know!

Version 0.3 (12/16/05): The first version of the FAQ. Before anyone emails me
I know it's incomplete, since this is based on my second playthrough of the
game. I just wanted to get something out there for those who are still stuck
in the early parts of the game, with more updates to come later on.

-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Mario and Luigi's sequel to their team-up adventure has finally made it to
the Nintendo DS. In addition to the original brothers, you also get to
control their baby counterparts. Using both pairs, there are plenty of
innovative puzzles to be solved utilizing both screens. A slight complaint
with this game is that it was a bit too easy in that the game holds your hand
through it, especially in the early stages. Also, there is a great lack of
side quests, so there really isn't anything to do besides the main adventure,
and that is a shame. Despite that, this sequel proves to be another great
game for the DS, albeit simplistic, and would be worth your money if you are
a fan of Mario games!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

One blissful day in the Mushroom Kingdom, genius inventor Professor E. Gadd
constructed a time machine, which was fueled by the awesome power of the
Cobalt Star. Princess Peach was overjoyed with his creation, and immediately
set off to visit the Mushroom Kingdom's past. Of course, her faithful ward
Toadsworth was filled with such worry for his charge that he promptly
collapsed.

Shortly thereafter the time machine returned, but it was a wreck and it
brought back not only the princess, but a creepy alien of unknown origin.
According to the professor, Princess Peach was stranded somewhere in the
past! To top it off, mysterious time holes leading back in time began popping
up throughout the castle! Who better to answer the call to adventure than
Mario and Luigi? Nobody, that's who!

The mustachioed brothers leapt into action, plunged through a time hole, and
set off on a rescue mission through time. Once they arrived in the past, the
brothers met up with their childhood selves and formed the greatest team of
heroes in history. Can the brothers Mario overcome all obstacles and rescue
Princess Peach? Only time will tell!

=============
Timed Attacks
=============

Now, no battle in this game would be complete without the ability to use
Timed Attacks in battle. When you do it, you can cause added damage to an
enemy.

Jump - Before making contact, press the button again quickly. For a double
attack with the babies, press the corresponding baby's button upon
impact, then the adult's button before they hit afterward.
Hammer - When the hammer shakes, press the button to attack (only the babies
attack with the hammer). For a double attack, press the proper
button for the adult when the hammer shakes, then hit the baby's
button shortly after for a stronger attack.

============
Timed Dodges
============

As with the offense, there is also a defensive measure you can take to avoid
enemy attacks on yourself. Those are called Timed Dodges. If done right, you
can totally avoid getting hit by pretty much any attack! Please note that
every enemy attacks differently, so you'll have to have different timing for
each.

Jump - Simply jump when the attack is about to occur to evade.
Hammer - A moment before the attack, hold to charge, but release when it
shakes to pound the enemy/attack away.

You can also counter an enemy's attack, if you're quick enough. If you land
on the enemy's head when they attack, you'll cause them added damage; same
thing goes with using your Hammer.

===========
Bros. Items
===========

New to this game are the various special items you can use in battle as a
team. When you select this option, you'll see the list of items you have as
well as a diagram showing how it works, then you press the brother's button
whose turn it is to activate the item. There is a full list of Bros. Items
you can obtain throughout the game in the Items section of this FAQ.

================
Brother Pair-Ups
================

When both sets of brothers are working together, the babies are piggyback
riding on the adults, naturally. Of course, there will be plenty of times
where you have to split the pairs up to solve puzzles and progress. To do
this, press X/Y and the babies will be tossed down (or up onto the ledge in
front of you if it's possible).

If you enter a new area with the babies, you can track their progress on the
top screen and the adults on the bottom. If you want to swap control between
the pairs, simply press A or B to reactivate the adults, or X/Y for the
babies. To re-combine the groups, simply walk one into the other. Also, there
are blue blocks with the image of a green pipe on them; if the pairs are
split and you hit that block, the other pair will reappear right next to you.

This might not be needed, but keep in mind that both brothers in a given pair
must travel together! So, if you jump up a ledge with the Mario counterpart,
Luigi must also jump up or else you won't be able to move. It pays to get
used to pressing A/X and B/Y together when jumping with the pairs so this
never has to happen.

You can also double jump with the babies on your back. When you jump
normally, at the peak of the jump press the corresponding baby's button and
they will jump even higher. It will really come in handy when trying to reach
higher-than-normal blocks and such.

====================
Non-Battle Abilities
====================

Adult Abilities
---------------

Ball
Learned: From Toadsworth after clearing Yoob's Belly.
Description: Both brothers roll together to form a ball, which can be
rolled about the landscape. Its speed allows you to travel
up hills quickly and cross small gaps as you move.

Spin Jump
Learned: From Toadsworth after clearing Vim Factory.
Description: When selected, press B and Mario will jump atop Luigi's
back. Then, press the button again and the pair will spin in
the air for a few seconds. You can move in any direction in
this timeframe, to reach nearby ledges you can't normally
                 jump to.

Baby Abilities
--------------

Baby Cakes
Learned: From Toadsworth after clearing Gritzy Caverns.
Description: Have the adults use the Ball ability and roll over the
babies to flatten them. In this form, the babies can hop
around and fit through extremely low-ceiling passages. It
also allows the babies to float in the wind from a fan's
current. The effect wears off after several moments, though.

Baby Spin
Learned: From Toadsworth after clearing Gritzy Caverns.
Description: Simply have the babies stand around, then have the adults
use their Spin Jump. Hitting the babies will send them even
higher in the air, where they will then glide back down to
the ground. This is great for reaching higher ledges with
the babies and getting across wider gaps/spike pits.

Drill
Learned: After getting Hammers from Hammer Bros.
Description: Press Y and Baby Luigi will jump onto Baby Mario, press
again and the babies will drill into the ground. This is
useful for sneaking under gates or digging up beans hiding
under the X marks you may find. To reemerge from the ground,
                 simply press Y again.

Hammer
Learned: After getting Hammers from Hammer Bros.
Description: Use to hit wall switches, break obstructions, etc. Press X
                 to use it.

Introduction
------------

This game opens with an explanation of the story, talking about a creepy
mushroom-shaped planet in the universe which has apparently targeted the
Mushroom Kingdom as its new "home". Following this short opener, you are
taken to a scene inside Peach's Castle in the past.

Princess Peach's Castle (Past)
------------------------------

Inside the castle, you will be introduced to Baby Mario and Luigi for the
first time. They were brought to the castle to be playmates of Princess Peach
and are then directed to go forward to the next room. Go up into that room
and you will spot several Toads on the ground. At this point, Baby Bowser
will drop in with the kidnapped Princess Peach in tow. One of the Toads will
attempt to intervene but to no avail. This means Baby Mario and Luigi have to
face up against Baby Bowser in battle. It's a practice battle, where you
learn about timed attacks/dodges, so don't worry about it too much. Following
the battle, the castle is suddenly under attack by several UFOs which then
disappear, and the scene shifts to the present day.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

In the present day, you will hear the back-story of Professor E. Gadd and his
time machine powered by the legendary Cobalt Star. Everyone witnessed the
unveiling of the machine, and Princess Peach even tested it out by journeying
to the kingdom's past. The scene then shifts into a room in the castle where
everyone else is gathered. Toadsworth is worried that the time machine hasn't
returned, despite E. Gadd's reassurance that it will. One of the Toads will
ask you to find the Refreshroom in Toadsworth's room to calm him down. The
Lakitu will then introduce you to the map feature of the top screen, so pay
attention; it will come in great handy throughout the game! Finally, the Toad
will test Mario's jumping mettle as you would expect.

When all this is done, you have control of Mario only. So, head south out of
this room. In the next room you will see a heart block (hit it to fully
recover all character's health) and a Save Album. Use it if you want, then
continue south and west to reach Toadsworth's room. Inside, jump over the
wall to the middle area and hit the block to receive the Refreshroom.

Now, return the way you came to the room where everyone else is. The item
will be used and Toadsworth will recover. Also, the time machine will return
albeit in a battered state. However, a monster will emerge from the machine
and Mario will have to defeat it, of course. After this practice battle
against the Junior Shrooboid, which you actually get experience for, Mario
will gain a level.

Following the battle, the time machine is searched but Peach is not to be
found. Luigi then runs in with a report of a mysterious hole appearing in the
garden, so E. Gadd runs over there (check the map). After a demonstration of
Luigi's jumping (or lack thereof, heh), you have control of both brothers.
Head south 2 rooms to reach the garden. There, you will witness a time hole
opening up in the well, as the professor explains how this may be the key to
rescuing the princess. You jump into the hole and emerge in a village in the
past.

Hollijolli Village
------------------

When you emerge in this area, you are introduced to Stuffwell. He is your
suitcase which carries items and acts as your menu screen when you press
Start. After you test out its functions, you can continue (no way of skipping
this one, sorry). Once this tutorial is over, you will have control of the
brothers, so go ahead and save via the nearby Save Album, then head into the
east area.

In the next few areas, Stuffwell will give you various tutorials on how to
play this game. In this area, jump up the ledges and hit the blocks to get a
few coins, 2 Mushrooms, and a 1-Up Mushroom. Go right on the top plateau and
hop the gaps when directed to, then up ahead you'll see several M and L
blocks. As you would figure, the M blocks you must hit as Mario and the L
ones with Luigi. Do this now and the path leading up to the next area will
open up.

Going west in the new segment, a Toad will fall from the sky as a swarm of
UFOs pass by overhead. As the brothers run off, the UFOs will return to
capture that fallen Toad you just saw. Go up the hill and you'll encounter 2
Shrooblets which you must fight as part of the tutorial to learn how to
battle some more. After you beat them, fight a few more Shrooblets and go up
the hill. At the plateau Luigi will be hit, so you will now learn how to use
items to cure him.

Head up the hill some more and fight more Shrooblets, then once you reach the
top, go east into the village itself. There, you will witness the UFOs
causing much devastation to the village. When you have control, go into the
houses and hit the various blocks to get coins and Mushrooms. There is even a
Save Album if you're interested in using it.

Anyway, head to the northeast area of town and enter the mayor's residence
(the one with a sign outside). Go forward inside to the fireplace and you'll
find the mayor stuck; go under him and jump to free the mayor. When he's
free, the UFOs will capture him and there will be 3 Shroobs for you to fight.
Above you during this fight is a countdown from 3 to 0; when the timer hits
the zero, the UFO will attack and the battle ends abruptly. Try to attack if
you can, but don't worry about beating them since it's impossible; you have
to lose this fight.

Koopa Cruiser
-------------

The next scene will take place aboard Baby Bowser's ship, which is under
attack by the UFOs. Toadsworth will appear and take Peach to safety, which
leaves you with Baby Mario and Luigi to control. In the next room, go ahead
and a Koopa will explain to you the controls with the babies (same as the
adults, just use X and Y instead of A and B). Make your way all the way right
by jumping, making sure to hit the blocks along the way for some coins and
Mushroom variations. When you make it out of this room, you'll find a Save
Album. Use it before going into the room ahead.

At the ship's control room, Baby Bowser will shoot down the UFOs following
the ship. The pilots will spot the Shroobs attacking Mario and Luigi, but
Baby Bowser doesn't want to help. After Princess Peach throws a fit, Baby
Bowser will launch the Koopa Cannon to stop the Shroobs. The ship will then
land on a plateau near the village, and Baby Mario and Luigi are sent out to
investigate.

Hollijolli Village
------------------

With control of the babies, run down the hill and into the village area. Go
through the village until you meet up with your older counterparts. However,
there will be 2 Shroobs you have to fight as the babies. During this fight
you will learn how to use Bros. Items, courtesy of the Green Shells being
provided by Stuffwell. After you beat the Shroobs, you will witness a scene
with the UFOs causing massive damage to the past era, and Baby Bowser rushing
in to rescue Toadsworth and the Princess.

Koopa Cruiser
-------------

On board the ship following the story of baby Peach's rescue, you will
receive a transmission from the Queen Shroob, which is incomprehensible as
you can see. She apparently ordered an attack on the cruiser since a missile
is incoming and Baby Bowser has no ammo to stop it! Thus, the ship is hit and
makes a crash landing in Bowser's Castle.

Bowser's Castle
---------------

Upon arriving here, you will find that only Mario and Luigi are here;
everyone else must have ended up in other locations. Anyway, use the Save
Album and go east. In the first larger area, defeat some Goombas and hit the
blocks for plenty of Green Shells, among other useful items. At the path
split, continue eastward to reach the following area. In there, defeat a few
more Goombas and Boos, then jump up the steps to the red catwalk above.
Follow it all the way to the end, then head into the next room.

Here, go west and you'll spot Baby Mario/Luigi on a ledge high above. After
catching them as they drop to you, start to head onward, but Stuffwell will
stop you. He will explain how to travel with the babies on your backs, which
will become normal for the entire game. After that's done, continue up the
steps and jump onto the blue 4-person switch (you'll be seeing a lot of these
too) to enter the room ahead.

Head forward and to the east, and you'll come to a seemingly dead end. While
facing it, press X to toss the babies up to the ledge above, and have them
hit the warp block to make the adults reappear nearby. Move over to them to
piggyback, then continue. Use the 4-person switch to enter the next room. In
there, have the babies go under the gate to 2 blocks containing 100 coins and
a 1-Up Mushroom. Hit the other blocks in the room before stepping on the
switch leading onward, as you've been doing for the last several rooms.

In this next area, toss the babies to the upper ledge and hit the warp block
to the left. Backtrack slightly to use the Save Album, then toss the babies
to the high ledge. Hit the ! block and reunite with the adults to press the
4-person switch leading to the following room. Here you will face Kamek the
Magikoopa, who will put you through a couple real battles to demonstrate
fighting with the babies. After the fight, continue onward.

Go up the path, defeating some Boos and Boom Guys along the way. At the end
of the path, jump onto the 4-person platform to go down the pipe into a new
area. Once there, head east into the next rom. Go to the upper ledge you
can't reach by jumping and toss the babies up there, and have them go into
the room. Have then hit the ! block inside to make a bridge appear for the
adults. Leave the room and reunite with the adults, then cross the bridge and
hit the 4-person switch to open the door.

In the next room, toss the babies into the upper room again, and hit the !
block inside. This will make a bridge appear, so cross it with the adults.
When you come to the set of blocks, Stuffwell will explain how to hit them.
After the adults hit the blocks, a lower platform will appear in the top room
where the babies are. With them, go right and defeat the Goombas, then jump
to the blocks and hit them. This will lower one of the platforms by the
adults. With the babies jump to the right and follow the path south to a
ledge outside. Hit the two blocks there to make a bridge appear below. Now,
switch to the adults and have them jump up the ledges to the east.

Drop the babies down to the lower area when you see them, then continue to
the 4-person switch and hit it to access the next room. In there, head to the
northwest corner of the room and toss the babies into the room atop the high
ledge. This next part will require cooperation between babies and adults to
progress. When you're in the dark room with the babies, have the adults hit
the Shine Block depending on the letter displayed, which will make a blue
block appear above the babies; hit that and the paths will illuminate for a
few moments.

Light up the path with the adults and maneuver it with the babies until they
reach the other end. Outside of the dark room, have the babies drop into the
enclosed area and hit the chest to receive a sparkling shard which may have
more meaning later on. After this, the door ahead and the gate behind you
will open, so bring the adults in to piggyback the babies onward. In the next
room, step on the 4-person switch to ride the elevator.

In the new area, use the Save Album and head northeast to the next room.
Simply jump up the ledges here and step on the 4-person switch to enter the
final room. Here you will find Toadsworth and Baby Peach seemingly safe and
sound. You will also find the next time hole in this room, and thus everyone
will jump into it despite Toadsworth's objections.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

Back in the present-day castle, go south to the courtyard. Stuffwell mentions
that you should go visit the Professor since you're back. Use the Save album,
then go west and north to the professor's location on the map. When you meet
up with E. Gadd, he will be surprised at the adults' younger counterparts.
Also, he will inspect the shard you just received, and determines it as being
a Cobalt Star shard. The shard really bothers the monster in the holding
chamber, so the professor suggests that finding more shards is key to success
here. The shard will also open up a new time hole, and you will be sent to
check it out.

You will also learn how to check on the Cobalt Star shards you've collected,
as well as the introduction of Badges (complete with a free Salvage Badge to
boot). When you're ready, feel free to go east 2 rooms to the Shroom Shop,
where you can buy all sorts of equipment and items (the inventory increases
as you progress in the game, so check back often). Upgrade your clothing at
this point, then make your way to the southwest segment of the castle by
using the map. When you arrive at the guest room, jump into the time hole.
You will watch a quick scene where the older and younger Toadsworth see each
other, and the younger one thinks the older version is a bad guy. Anyway,
your party has warped to the past to your next destination.

Toadwood Forest
---------------

When you arrive in the woods, use the Save Album and go to the east area. You
will find 3 large stumps with holes in the middle. Toss the babies into each
hole to hit the blocks inside, and to fight some Koopeleons. To escape, have
both babies jump onto the trampoline. When you're done here, go north to the
next area. In this area, you will go forward to meet a Toad tied up to a
tree. He will tell you about Peach's trip to the past and how the Shroobs
captured her. He also explains how the Toads are being drained of their power
by the trees into the nearby Vim Factory, which may contain a shard that you
need.

So, explore the stump here and continue to the east. Here, defeat some Boo
Guys and Koopeleons as you continue to the southeast. The path to the north
is blocked, so you can only go southwest to yet another area. In this area,
you will see several empty blocks and thin tower-like structures. In the
southwest corner, there is a tree stump, so toss the babies in. In this
circular path, defeat the enemies and hit the fire-filled blocks to fill the
blocks above ground.

After you make it around the entire circuit, jump back out and have the
adults hit all the fire blocks (6 total) to fill the large center block.
Then, hit the large block and the fireball will clear the way to the north.
Exit this area and make your way all the way north past the burnt shrubbery
to the now-accessible section. Go forward and step on the 4-person switch to
ride the elevator down.

When you reach the next area, use the Save Album and continue north. In this
area, jump into the tree stumps and collect the Unarmed Jeans, and fight the
Elasto-Piranha you find in another stump. When you're ready, head to the
north to reach the next area since you cannot progress in the west just yet.
In this central area, you'll see the saucers flying into the factory, but you
can't get in just yet, so head east.

Here, defeat the Elasto-Piranha and hit the coin block, then toss the babies
into the tree stump. Move the adults onto the red platform, then with the
babies, hit the arrow block to move the platform in the designated direction.
Move to the east, stopping them at the first platform (have the babies hit
the block again and the platform will stop) to collect a Wallet Badge from
the block. Continue riding the platform to the second platform, then have the
adults get off and head north.

In the next area, hit the warp block to reunite everyone. You'll see a really
high block in the air; stand below it and jump, then press the corresponding
baby's button to jump even higher to hit it. Four blocks will then appear, so
hit them in order and the first tower will be powered up. Now, continue north
into the following area. There, go north and west to a tree stump, and toss
the babies into it. Move the adults onto the red platform to the south, then
have the babies hit the block to move the platform all the way right (make
sure the adults jump to avoid the obstacle along the way).

At the far right, hit the ! block to make a second step appear by the ledge.
Have the babies move the platform back to the left, then reunite everyone and
go up the steps to the west area. Here, double jump with the babies to hit
the high block, then hit the 4 blocks to charge that tower as well. After
that, go south to a spike-filled area. Toss the babies into the stump and
have the adults wait on the red platform, then have the babies hit the block
to move the block to the south. There are plenty of blocks to the south and
west you can hit, all of which contain coins, various items, and even the
Wild Trousers. Your goal is to reach the southeast ledge, though. When you
get there with the adults, go east into the next area.

With the adults still, continue north into another area where you'll find a
warp block; hit it to reunite everyone yet again. Now that you have access to
the factory, go north and up the bridge into the entrance. Inside, jump onto
the 4-person platform to ride down into the factory.

Vim Factory
-----------

Inside the factory finally, hop onto the 4-person switch to enter the room
ahead. Here, you will meet two Hammer Bros and witness the now infamous 1337
scene. Following this is a boss battle of sorts, so check out that section
should you need help winning. Following this battle, the Hammer Bros will
lose their helmets and talk normally again (what a shame, heh heh). They will
reward the babies with Hammers, and then proceed to teach you how to use it.
You'll also get the Drill ability from this, so get through the tutorial
using both new abilities.

When you're done, you'll be in the room by yourself, so use the 2-person
switch (the one on the left) and enter that room. Pass under the gate with
the Drill ability (this is how you get under gates, don't forget this).
Hammer through the crates ahead and go into the following room. Head to the
northeast and drill under the gate over there, then hop up the steps. Walk
along the top of the wall to the south, and drop into the closed room and
hammer the wall switch. Hop back up the steps and head west, jumping over to
the other side. Fall into that enclosed area and hit the wall switch there as
well. Then, drill under the gate and hop up the colored steps to reach the
western room.

Here, you will find some Spiny Shroopas, and will learn how to use Hammers in
battle since jumping is useless on them. Make your way south through the
room, battling some more of those enemies. In the next room, there are two
gates you can pass under. If you take the left one, you can reach the
southern room and hit a few blocks, one of those contains another pair of
Unarmed Jeans. The gate to the right will take you into the east room, which
is where you need to be.

In there, you'll see a tree with 4 glowing orbs connected to it. Use Baby
Mario's hammer to bust them up, and the adult Mario and Luigi will fall out
of the tree. You will then be faced with Spiny Shroopas, and a demonstration
of sorts on how to attack with Hammers with both adults and babies together
for added damage. After the fight, go east and toss the babies to the upper
ledge, and hit the wall switch with the hammer. Drop back down and go through
the doorway to the first chamber once again.

This time here, jump onto the 4-person switch and enter that room. In that
room, defeat the Spiny Shroopa and Dr. Shroob enemies, as well as a Lakitufo.
Head into the room at the other end, and jump onto the 4-person platform to
reach a new room. Down there, use the Save Album and continue northward. In
this room, have the babies go under the gate and hammer the wall switch.
Defeat the Spiny Shroopa in there, as well as the Laktufo and another spiked
enemy outside the gate, then head into the eastern room.

In here, go east and toss the babies onto the upper ledge and have them go
into the room. Defeat the Spiny Shroopa and pound the wall switch; this will
clear the barrier blocking passage in the main room. Have the adults continue
onward and hit the 2 blocks they come across, causing a bridge to appear in
the room where the babies are. Switch control to them and continue eastward.
When the babies come to the gate, drill under it and hit the wall switch,
then drill back out and continue onward.

Have the adults continue to the right and stand under the 2 transparent
blocks, then switch control to the babies. Have them hit the 2 blocks on
their side, then let the adults hit the last two. This will make a step
appear for the babies, so have them jump up it and continue right. Exit the
room and make your way all the way west atop the wall, breaking the crates on
the way. At the end, pound the 2 wall switches and use the warp block to call
back the adults. Reunite with them and go into the east doorway (the west one
leads to a dead end room where you double jump to a coin box and hit each
brother's block when it glows to get a lot of coins).

Defeat some enemies in the east corridor, then go through the doorway at the
end. In the next room, toss the babies onto the ledge and have them go into
the room up there. Have the adults stand on the red platform, then use the
babies to hit the block, thus moving the platform for the adults. Move them
to the right, stopping the platform so the adults can hit the ! block. Ride
the platform all the way right, then get off and take control of the babies.
Go across the bridge that was formed before, then switch back to the adults
and hit the 2 blocks to make another bridge appear for the babies. Make the
babies move all the way right and out of their room, meeting up with the
adults.

Once everyone is back together, step on the 4-person switch and enter the
room ahead. Use the Save Album inside, then hop on the next switch to reach
the final room. Inside, you'll see a giant caterpillar drinking some liquid,
which in turn fuels the flying saucers used by the Shroobs to attack the
kingdom. The babies knock over the drink by accident and the caterpillar gets
upset, then battle begins. Read the Bosses section for help defeating the
Swiggler.

Following this battle, the boss will explode, leaving behind another Cobalt
Star shard for you. Immediately after collecting it, Baby Bowser will appear
and steal the shards from you, then he runs off. Stuffwell then suggests
returning to the present day to regroup for the next adventure, and that's
where you will go next automatically.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

Back in modern times, grab the babies and head to the room where the
professor is waiting as usual. Talk to E. Gadd and you'll find that 4 more
time holes opened up throughout the castle. He also asks you to check in the
courtyard because someone was running around with a baby earlier. So, head
all the way south a couple rooms to the courtyard (use your map if this is
hard to do on your own).

In the courtyard, you'll find both Toadsworths entertaining the young
princess. They will perform a "Toadsworth Twist", which Luigi is particularly
amazed by. A tutorial then begins where you are taught the Spin Jump ability
for Luigi. Complete it and you'll now have a new trick to mess around with.
Pay a visit to the Shroom Shop for the latest clothing upgrades, then make
your way upstairs via the stairs you'll see on the map. Just jump onto the 4-
person switch atop either set of stairs to enter the second floor area.
Regardless of the side you went up, you'll be at a Save Album, so use it if
you want. Then, go to the middle room (use your map).

In the library, jump upon the bookcase via the step next to one of them. Toss
the babies off and take control of the adults only, then Spin Jump to the
next bookcase to the right. If you want, make the rounds to all the blocks in
the room to get a Super Mushroom, 1-Up Super, and a Training Badge. Spin Jump
to the northern ledge and use the warp block to bring the babies to you. Take
them and jump into the nearby time hole to reach the next area of the game.

Yoshi's Island
--------------

From the start here, simply go east across the bridge to the next area. In
this village segment, check the first hut to the east to find a Save Album
and a Shroom Badge in the regular block. Then, enter the second hut and
you'll encounter a Koopa Troopa who takes your picture. She introduces
herself as Kylie Koopa, a reporter of sorts. The scoop here is the giant egg
in the village has been broken, most likely by the Shroobs. When prompted,
have the babies jump on the trampoline to find a hidden room where the Yoshis
are hiding. Some banging is heard outside and all the Yoshis run out in a
panic.

When you go outside to investigate, a giant robotic Yoshi called Yoob is
standing atop the hut, and proceeds to swallow up all the Yoshis you just
met. After it leaves, exit the hut and you'll meet up with Kylie again. After
she leaves, go into the second hut to the right and you'll run into Kamek the
Magikoopa, who is gathering up Yoshi Cookies for Baby Bowser. Once he runs
out, you'll see a scene where Yoob tries to eat Kamek, only to spit him back
out. Kamek will then open the door leading out of the village, so exit the
hut you're in and go through the same doorway. In there, use the Save Album
and take the back exit outside, then go west across the bridge to a new area.

Here, have the babies bounce up into the clouds and hammer down the block
that's there. Let the adults hit the block to get 100 coins. Bring the babies
back down and continue to the west. As you enter the hut ahead, Kamek will
exit from the back. Inside, you'll see the pile of Yoshi cookies that were
stolen for Baby Bowser. Continue out through the back and head north to the
next area. There, jump on the 4-person platform to sink to a new section.

You will meet up with Kamek again here, who makes 4 fires appear throughout
the region. There is a pool of spring water, where if you toss the babies
aside and put Baby Mario in front of it, he'll start filling up with water.
Keep an eye on the number above him during this, the maximum is 9. This
represents how many times water can be spit out by having Luigi smack him
with a hammer from behind. With that said, fill Baby Mario with a couple
shots of water here and head across the bridge. Put out the first fire by
spitting the water at it.

Now that the fire is gone for now, spit out any excess water and piggyback
with the adults to the north area. Beat the Pidgits here as you go up the
hill leading to the following segment. You'll be at a path split, where you
can only really go east for now, so do that. Pass the second fire you see,
and toss the babies so they can use the trampoline. In the cloud area, defeat
the Gnarantulas and hit the blocks to get some coins and the Heart Pants.
Then, fill Baby Mario up with a water droplet, and go to the hole that an
arrow in the clouds is pointing at. Spit the water in that hole and it'll put
out the fire below.

Drop back to the ground and reunite with the adults, then hit the red ! block
to make the giant red block appear in the central area of the map. Now that
you have somewhere to go, head west and use the red block to jump to the
ledge leading westward to yet another new area. Jump up the northern ledges
and have the babies drill under the gate to enter that cave. Defeat the
enemies in there, and fill Baby Mario with 2 water droplets. Spit the water
into both holes leading downward in the lower pit area (you can't miss them)
and both fires outside will be put out.

Next, have the babies drill under the gate to exit, but don't reunite them
with the adults just yet. Instead, have the adults go to the entrance of the
room and Spin Jump across the platforms that were extinguished. On the far
left ledge, hit the green ! block to make that block appear in the center
area. Get the babies and head east out of this room. Use the green block as a
stepping stone to reach the next high ledge. Defeat the Pidgits you come
across and continue to the east area. There, hit the block to get some coins,
then just keep going to the north.

In here, you'll see the blue block, a blue pipe block where the water will
fall into from above, and 3 other pipes that will redirect whatever passes
through them to another direction. With that said, hit the top-right one
twice, the bottom-right one three times, and the bottom-left one once. Then,
toss the babies and have them jump into the clouds again. Fill Baby Mario
with just one water droplet and spit into the blue hole to put out the fire
below. Drop back down and reunite with the adults, and hit the blue ! block
to make the final block appear outside.

Now, backtrack 2 areas to the center section. This time, jump to the north
ledge via the blue block and head west. Defeat the Coconutters you encounter
and continue onward to the next area. Jump onto the 4-person platform to
reach another section of the island. Use the Save Album where you emerge and
go north some more. In this area, toss the babies and have them go all the
way west, defeating the enemies on the way. Jump on the trampoline and hit a
couple blocks in the clouds, then drop down the northern hole. Have the
babies beat the Pidgit and jump up the ledges to reach the north area.

Switch back to the adults now and have them jump up the ledges where they
are. You'll come to a whirlwind; Spin Jump into it and you'll be able to
launch even further, allowing access to the ledge you couldn't reach
otherwise. Spin Jump to the west and you'll find Kamek, who runs ahead as you
would expect. In the second area, spin with the second whirlwind to reach the
ledge ahead. Jump up the ledges and meet up with the babies, then go north.

In this area, defeat the Coconutters and toss the babies aside, then Spin
Jump through the whirlwind to the high ledge. Hit the ! block to make one of
the platforms lower, revealing a gate. Switch to the babies and have them
drill under it. Inside, defeat the Gnarantula and trampoline back up at the
other end. Kill the Pidgit with the babies and give Baby Mario 1 droplet of
water. Drop off the ledge and spit it at the fire to put it out. Combine with
the adults once more and go north to the following area.

Here, defeat the enemies as you head to the west side of the room. Have the
babies jump up the trampoline into the clouds, where they will find several
blocks and enemies. Kill those enemies and drop down the hole to the far
right, which leaves them off by the 4-person switch. As for the adults, Spin
Jump into the whirlwind when it comes near and move all the way east. Reunite
with the kids and step on the switch to go through that door in front of you.

Over here, use the Save Album, then go ahead to find Kamek and Baby Bowser.
After a scene where Baby Bowser refuses to give up the shards, and your
babies eat the entire cookie pile, Baby Bowser will run off, leaving Kamek to
face you guys. You have to enter a boss battle, so read that section for help
winning if you need it. After this, continue east to catch up with Baby
Bowser. When you corner him, Baby Bowser swallows the shards in front of you!
Following that, the flying saucers will appear and will shoot an enlargement
beam at Yoob to make the Yoshi robot into a giant. Yoob then swallows every
person here, and then remains stationary on the cliff side.

Yoob's Belly
------------

After everyone falls into the giant creature, you'll find that the path
leading out is currently blocked up. That means you have to go the other way,
so have the babies bounce up the trampoline and hit the warp block to bring
up the adults as well. Here you'll also find a lone Yoshi struggling to push
a boulder into the hole you just came from, and wants you to find the other
Yoshis scattered around the area.

Let's begin by searching this central hub, by tossing the babies into the
stump holes around. One of them will have a block containing a piece of fruit
(the one closest to the yellow Yoshi); make sure you get this! With the
fruit, talk to the yellow Yoshi and revive him with the fruit. The Yoshi will
then go help the green one with pushing the boulder. Now you need to explore
the rest of the rooms to find all the Yoshis, so let's start from the western
room and make our way across the central chamber.

In the first room, you'll walk in on a RC Shroober and its robot assistant of
sorts. When prompted, press A to destroy the robot, then you'll have to fight
the RC Shroober. Defeat this enemy and you'll free the red Yoshi. Head to the
second room where you'll find a Dry Bones to fight. Defeat it, then walk over
to the sealed door and toss the babies aside (leave the adults here). Go to
the northeast part of the room and you'll see 2 colored orbs which you can
hammer to alternate the colors from red to yellow to blue. There is a small
diagram above showing how the colors should be, so replicate it by hammering
the orbs, and a gate will appear to the left.

Drilling under the gate, you'll enter a long room with plenty of colored orbs
to bang upon. Briefly switch control to the adults so you can see the diagram
above that door (that's why I said to leave them there), then switch back to
the babies and pound it out accordingly. If you look at the diagram, the
correct matches flash so you know what still needs to be worked on. Once you
solve this puzzle, the door will open. Get the babies out of the room, and
reunite them with the adults, then talk to the blue Yoshi to free him.

Going back to the central chamber, enter the third room from the left. In
there, defeat the Bully enemies you find roaming around. Also, be sure to hit
the blocks to receive various items, including the Puffy Trousers. There
appears to be no Yoshi here to rescue, but it was worth it to stop here, so
head onward to the fourth room. In the spike-filled room, have the babies use
the trampoline to reach the upper level. Up there, defeat the Bully and drop
into the third hole from the right at the top half of the room. Doing this
will drop the babies onto the ledge with the pink Yoshi.

Have the babies hammer the orb on the wall to form a bridge, thus freeing yet
another Yoshi. Now, onward to the final room on this floor. In the eastern
room, have the babies drill under the gate and enter the back room. There,
fill Baby Mario with water and go down to face the 2 openings in the wall. If
you spit out water, it'll shoot into the front room where a flying saucer is
moving about. The idea is to press the Y button at the right times to shoot
water at the saucer. You have to hit it twice for it to crash, opening up the
wall for the adults. Get the babies back out via the gate, then go around the
wall and fight the RC Shroober. Once he's dead, the light blue Yoshi will be
freed.

Back in the center room, the Yoshis will collectively push the boulder into
the first hole, opening up the passage you couldn't get through before. Take
the babies with you and drop into the hole. Follow the path going west, but
this time you'll run into Dry Bones and more RC Shroobers as you navigate the
path. When you reach the end go into the next room and use the 4-person
switch to go downstairs. As soon as you arrive, use the Save Album, then go
into the south room.

As you enter here, you'll see a giant machine where the Yoshis are being
turned into eggs. You have to stop it of course, so go around the room
defeating the various enemies. Hit the blocks you find to get some random
items, then go to the southwest corner by passing under the conveyor belts to
reach the next room. In the next room, there are 2 blocks with eggs sitting
in them to the right. Toss the babies aside and have them jump on the nearby
trampoline. Fill Baby Mario with the maximum amount of water, and move to the
right ledge. Back to the adults though, have them hit one of the egg blocks.
This will send the egg in the air, passing in front of the babies. The idea
is to hit an egg up, then spit water at the egg which will knock it into the
wall and then on the ground, hatching the Yoshi.

Do this until you free both the blue and pink Yoshis, then unload the rest of
the water and drop down again. Reunite with the adults and the Yoshis will
push the second boulder down a hole. Drop down the hole as well into that
room. In this larger room, make your way to the east side while defeating the
Dry Bones and RC Shroobers wandering the area. There is a small room to the
south where the Yoshis are waiting to become free. Talk to some of them and
you will get some items, and even the Drain Badge. Back in the main room,
you'll come to a 4-person switch, so step on it to enter the north room.

In this room, you'll meet with a Toad who is watching a bunch of Yoshi eggs.
He is known as Toadbert, but his memory is wiped from that time machine
disaster. He does give you a rather vague drawing, however. He'll talk for a
while about the eggs and a monster in the back area, which you agree to go
kill. When you get control again, go into the room ahead. In there, use the
Save Album and heal up before continuing into the final room.

You will come across a giant egg monster in the room ahead. Toadbert will run
in to intervene, but that doesn't really help at all. One of the eggs
surrounding this creature hatches, and it turns out Baby Bowser was stuck
inside. You will then be attacked by the boss, and battle will commence, so
read the Bosses section for help defeating Sunnycide.

Following the battle, a hole will open up and all the Yoshis will jump out to
their freedom, finally! Toadbert will go to gather the remaining eggs, so all
you have to do is drop down the hole to escape the giant Yoob.

Yoshi's Island
--------------

After falling back to the island below, all the eggs and Toadbert will fall
as well, and head back to the village. Stuffwell will also recommend you
return to the village, and that is where you automatically end up next. When
you regain control, go through the hut in front of you to reach the main area
of the village. You'll see a scene with Baby Bowser trying to take credit for
your work in saving them before. Of course Mario and Luigi enter the scene to
set the record straight, leaving Baby Bowser to eat all the cookies for
himself. This causes him to throw up the Cobalt Star shards, which knock Baby
Bowser away and allow you to collect them once again. You will now return to
the present-day castle.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

Back in the castle's library, drop down to the lower level and exit the room.
Press the 4-person switch to reach the stairs, then head down to the first
floor. Use your map if needed to reach Professor E. Gadd once more. Talk to
the professor and he will point out a new time hole on the third floor, but
you can't really do anything with it at this time. He simply tells you to
continue looking for more shards, and we will do that shortly.

Before you go, make sure to visit the Shroom Shop as they have some new items
(they update their stock after you complete a given region, so check back
between adventures). Buy the Shell Slacks and Egg Pants for your group, and
possibly a couple Cure Badges if you're so inclined. After you're done here,
you should go to the castle courtyard where the Toadsworths are entertaining
Baby Princess Peach. They will teach you the Bros. Ball ability for the
adults, so complete the tutorial to learn it.

With your new ability, Toadsworth will point you to a room where you can test
out this new move, so head there. It's in the door leading north from the
base of the west staircase. In that room, you'll find a machine with a gear
that can be spun, so toss the babies aside and use the Ball ability with the
adults to spin it. When the meter fills, a 4-person platform atop a pipe will
appear in the room. If you go down it, you can enter the castle's dungeon.
It's a fun area to explore for some good items, but it's irrelevant to your
mission at the moment (we'll return here later, don't worry).

For now, head upstairs to the second floor of the castle. Up there, go north
to the yellow hallway room, and enter the north room at the center of the
hall. Hit the block with Luigi to get a 1-Up Mushroom, then go left to find a
! block. Toss the babies aside and hit the block as the adults, and a 25
second timer will appear onscreen. You have to race to the top of the room
and hit the second ! block within that timeframe. To do this, use the Ball
ability to roll up all the stairs. Hit the block at the top to open the gate,
and enter that room. Use the warp block to bring the babies up here quickly,
then hop into the time hole in front of you.

Gritzy Desert
-------------

Out here in the desert, go north to the next area and use the Save Album you
find. Toss the babies onto the ledge where you can hit the M block to get an
Ultra Mushroom. Jump onto the 4-person switch to attempt entering the dome,
only to be chased out by a massive army of Shroobs! You'll run to the
southern area and hide from the Shroobs, but of course the babies and Luigi
mess that plan up. After a chance meeting with Kylie Koopa who conveniently
appears during that chase, you'll learn of a secret entrance to the dome, and
that it involves activating the statues in the desert.

Once Kylie leaves and everyone is back together, head west to the following
area. Here, defeat the Pokeys and Shrooba Divers scattered throughout the
region, making sure to hit all the blocks you find along the way. You'll also
come to the first statue, facing the east, along with 2 blocks in front of
it. The way these work is you have to hit the 2 blocks in front of one
statue, but then you have a few seconds to hit the 2 blocks that are in front
of the opposing statue to activate the beam between them. For now, worry
about clearing the area of enemies with both the adults and babies, and head
north.

In the northwest area of the desert, clear away a bunch of enemies here as
well. There is a pipe you can toss the babies into, where they can hit a
block containing Secret Jeans. Once you clear the enemies out of this region
as well, that leaves both of the statues in the west half of the desert
relatively unprotected. With that, toss the babies aside and have them go
south an area to the east-facing statue. Once they're standing under the
blocks, switch back to the adults.

With the adults, go east to the cactus patch and hit the ! block to start
another race. You have 18 seconds to reach the other block, of course. So,
use the Ball form to roll around the path (east, south, west, south, east,
and north). At the end, unravel and hit the ! block to open the gate. Go
south from there and enter the next area. Make your way to the statue in this
area, fighting any enemies you come across if you want (or you can avoid them
and fight with the babies to gain experience more evenly).

Anyway, when the adults get to the west-facing statue, have them hit the 2
blocks there. When the timer starts to count down from 9, switch to the
babies and have them hit their blocks, and the statues will now be linked by
their beam. Move the babies north an area, and have them wait in front of the
southeast-facing statue. Switch to the adults and head south to another area.
Make your way to the southwest corner of this area, where you'll find the
other statue. Hit the 2 blocks on the adult side, then switch to the babies
and have them do the same.

Now that both pairs of statues are active, the casing that blocked access to
the block near the dome is now clear. With the adults, head southwest to the
next area. Spin Jump into the whirlwind to cross the brambles, then hit the
warp block in the northwest corner of the section to reunite with the babies.
If you want to go east across the thorny patch, there is a cannon set up next
to the pit. Toss the babies into the nearby pipe, then use the adult's Ball
ability to roll into the cannon. Have the babies hammer a wall switch in the
pipe room to launch the adults.

Either way, now that you're all back together, feel free to explore the areas
of the desert where you needed the babies in order to access, or want to kill
all the enemies out there with them in tow. If you go exploring, you may be
able to find the Big-POW Badge in one of the pipes. The best way to reach the
east side with both adults and babies is to take the north path through the
cactus patch on your map. After you did that race to the gate, the path will
stay open, so use that.

Otherwise, if you're not up for exploring, head north from where you should
be, and then go eastward. When you end up in the area east of the east-facing
statue, continue north and you'll be at the dome. Since you can't enter it
from the front, head to the left and you'll spot the ! block on the high
ledge. Toss the babies up and hit the block to make a step appear in the
wall. Reunite with the adults and jump up the steps to walk atop the dome
wall. Collect the items on the different tiers up here, then go into the dome
itself. Hop onto the 4-person platform in front of you and you'll go inside.

Koopaseum
---------

Down here, use the Save Album, then jump on the 4-person switch to enter the
room ahead. There, you will meet Kylie Koopa who apparently followed you guys
in. She'll tell you about the celebration that's about to commence below with
the Shroobs and Princess Shroob. You won't be able to understand anything
that's being said, though. You will then see the captive Princess Peach, who
the Shroobs feed to a giant piranha plant!

The scene will then revert back to Mario and Luigi, where you'll see Kylie
Koopa being taken captive as well. You'll also have control at this point.
First, go into the east room and double jump to hit the coin block if you
want. Have the babies go under the gate to a hidden room where you can
collect coins and items, including the Hit-POW Badge. Go back to the main
hall again and enter the west room this time. There, Spin Jump from the upper
ledges to the ! block. Hit it to form some steps along the back wall. With
the adults, go up the steps and use the Ball form to enter the passage.

In this maze, going down is actually quite simple. As soon as you enter,
unravel and use the Spin Jump to cross the gap. Then, use the Ball form to
navigate the rest of the way down. When you make it out of the maze, use the
warp block to bring the babies down here, then enter the east room. Here, hit
the blocks to get 2 Cannonballers and 2 Refreshing Herbs, then toss the
babies onto the ledges to the right along the back wall. Have them go into
the back room, then switch to the adults. When you hit the Shine Block, it
illuminates the path in the dark room for a few moments, which at that point
you have to hit the block again with the designated adult to continue. If you
hit the Shine Block with the wrong character, the babies have to start from
the beginning, so be careful!

As you navigate the dark room, be sure to hit all the blocks you can to gain
such items as the Pep Badge and the Adult Trousers. Once the babies reach the
end, have Baby Mario use the hammer on the wall switch to open the door
below. Reunite the pairs and enter that new room. Hop up the steps in here
and use the Save Album, then jump onto the 4-person switch to ride an
elevator upstairs into the arena. You'll get a scene with Princess Shroob,
and then you'll have to fight a Shrooboid Brat. Visit the Bosses section if
you're having trouble here.

After the battle, the Shroobs will break open the floor, dropping you all
into the caverns below the Koopaseum.

Gritzy Caves
------------

When your group falls into this area, use the Save Album nearby. Then, toss
the babies and give Baby Mario 1 bit of water from the fountain, and spit it
at the fire. Go to the cracked wall once the fire is gone and hammer it to
open a secret passage. Head into that room and you'll find the Monty Mart,
which is the same as the Shroom Shop, but with different goods. They don't
really have anything you'd need, rather the moles carry the oddities. Leave
here and reunite with the adults, then go to the east area. There is also a
path leading to a southern room, where you can have the babies drill into a
gated room and collect the Dire-Free Badge. Otherwise, this route leads to a
pipe taking you out to the desert.

Here, defeat a bunch of Dark Boos as you cross the room. You'll spot a hill
with a ! block above it; go up and hit it to make steps leading to the upper
path appear. Toss the babies aside and have the adults go up the steps, then
roll across to the eastern room. In the next room, you'll witness Kylie Koopa
being fed to the giant piranha plant here. After the plant goes back into the
ground, hit the warp block to get the babies back, then go south.

In the south room, follow the path as it goes to the west, while defeating
another set of Dark Boos and a Snifaro. In the room ahead, toss the babies
and drill them into the room behind the gate. Fill Baby Mario up with as much
water as he can take, then line up facing south in front of the ledge below
with stars on the walls. Switch back to the adults and use the Ball to turn
the gear. For this game, you have an item moving on the screen where the
adults are, and another one moving along that ledge by the babies. When both
items match, you have to spit water at the item as it passes by. Make 3
matches and the bridge will be formed to the south.

Take the babies back under the gate and reunite them with the adults, then
cross the south bridge and enter the west room. There, hit the ! block and
you'll open a shortcut back from the entrance to here, should you need it. Go
into the southeast room and jump onto the 4-person platform to reach the next
floor.

Down here, save via the Save Album and go into the next room. Go ahead to the
gate and toss the babies to the upper ledge, then have them enter the room.
Defeat the Bob-omb in here and go right to a ! block. The race will then
begin, giving the adults 20 seconds to reach the far side of the room and hit
the other ! block. When the timer begins, go into Ball form and roll to the
right along the hills. After the second uphill curve, revert back to normal
and Spin Jump to the right ledge. Roll up the hill and jump to hit the !
block to open the way forward. Go back left and onto the ledge you passed
during the race to find a Big-DEF Badge in one of the blocks.

Either way, continue rolling down the hill to reach the now-open east room.
Hit the warp block to get the babies back, then take them and go southwest
into another room. In this long hallway, as you go west you'll be faced with
a bunch of Elite Boom Guys, usually caught off guard by their shots. At the
end of the ground path, there is a wall switch, so have Baby Mario pound that
one to make steps appear. Go up the steps and have the adults Spin Jump to a
platform to the east. Also, have them Spin Jump around the wall to the other
ledge for a few more blocks, one of which contains a Big-POW Badge. If you
can't make it, just go all the way right and up the hill, then roll with the
Ball form across the small gaps.

Anyway, when you're done collecting the goods in here, go into the west room.
Make your way south through here, defeating the Elite Boom Guys and Snifaros
you encounter. In the southeast room ahead, toss the babies onto the upper
ledge and have them go into that room. Have the adults use the Ball ability
to turn the gear, which moves the red platforms in the upper room where the
babies are. Have them jump from platform to platform, hitting the M and L
blocks to progress. Each time a block is hit, the platforms move faster, so
be cautious as you reach the east end. Once you hit the third block, a ledge
will lower in the main room below.

Have the adults Spin Jump across the pit using that newly lowered ledge. Use
the warp block at the other side, then take the babies into the next room.
Make your way south through yet another room full of Elite Boom Guys shooting
at you. There are 2 exits to this room; if you go east you can hit a couple
blocks to get an Ultra Drop and 2 Super Drops. If you want to continue, then
go into the west room and use the 4-person platform to go down the pipe.

On the bottom floor, go into the room ahead and use the Save Album. Now is
also a great time to use Mushrooms to fully heal your party. Also, hitting
the blocks in this room will get you several of the better Bros. Items. Head
up the hill and jump on the 4-person switch to open the door leading to the
boss room. Here, go forward and double jump to hit the coin block, which
triggers some rumbling, followed by the giant piranha emerging from the pipe
below. Hiding from it proves to be useless, as you now have to fight Petey
Piranha. Read the Bosses section for help defeating this boss.

Following the battle, you will collect the third Cobalt Star shard. Kylie
Koopa will also be freed, and will show you a giant key she found while being
held captive. She also mentions that Princess Peach was inside the giant
plant and should be free now that it's dead. After Kylie leaves, go to the
north wall and have Baby Mario hammer it down at the cracked spot. In the
room ahead, send the babies under the right gate. As they approach the
switch, you'll hear someone calling to you through the gated doorway.

Hammer the wall switch to open that gate, then have the adults use the warp
block. Collect the babies, then go into the next room. You will appear to
have found Princess Peach here, but for some reason she has a mushroom on her
face. You are then warped back to the present day.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

Back in the castle, you'll be in the Princess's room, where they're trying to
figure out what happened to her face. The Toadsworths will take Baby Peach
away, then shortly afterward you'll be outside the room. So, make your way
south a room to the Save Album. Go downstairs and head to the courtyard to
visit the Toadsworths. Out there, you'll see them doing the Toadsworth Twist
yet again. They will then teach you the Baby Spin, which is a variation of
the Spin Jump where you hit the babies to send them spin gliding even higher
in the air. You'll also learn the Baby Cakes technique where the adults in
their Ball ability roll over the babies to flatten them, thus allowing them
to get through even smaller passages. Just try the tutorials for yourself to
understand it fully.

Once you have these abilities, you'll see the Baby Princess Peach float over
the high wall nearby that's gated shut. Now is a good time to practice the
Baby Spin to send the babies over the gate. Have them pound the wall switch
to let the adults in, then do the spin again to send the babies onto the
wall. Go into the small room up there and jump up the series of steps to find
the princess.

After reuniting her with the Toadsworths, go to the east area. Use the Baby
Spin to send the babies onto the upper ledges to the north, where they can
hit the L box containing the Item-Fan Badge. Go back to the courtyard and
continue into the northern room. You'll hear some sort of commotion followed
by a Toad in a frenzied state rushing to the royal chambers upstairs. Go
upstairs and into the Princess's chambers where you are pointed at on the
map. When you go into that room you'll find that the adult Bowser has
returned to kidnap Princess Peach, as you would expect. The fungi on Peach's
face will shoot itself at Bowser, who tries to eat the blob and ends up
getting sick. While Mario and Luigi are dazed from this, Bowser runs off.
During the getaway, he ends up breaking the yellow bridge, causing himself
and the princess to fall into a new time hole.

Of course, you have to go after them to save the day once more. So, head
downstairs and to the northwest corner of the castle, where you'll find this
new time hole. It's just north of the western stairs, if you're somehow
having trouble with this. In the time hole room, jump up the steps and toss
the babies aside. Have them stand at the edge of the plateau, then Spin Jump
with the adults to glide the babies across. Have them go into the time hole,
and the adults will follow automatically.

Thwomp Volcano
--------------

In this new area, go into the area to the north and use the Save Album there.
You'll find a couple of Toads to talk to here, one of whom points out the
blocks in the wall. For the regular block atop some steps, use the Baby Cake
ability to hop up the steps and hit the block to receive the Ultra Mushroom.
As for the hole with the ! block, use the Spin Jump and hit the babies to
float them high enough to reach it. Hitting the ! block will move the blocks
and give you access to the next area.

In the following section, go across the bridge and fight a couple of Thwacks.
Then, make your way up the hills and use the Baby Spin to send the babies
onto the upper platform. As for the adults, use the Ball ability to cross
over the small gaps. At the other side, use the warp block if necessary, then
go north to the next area.

Here, defeat another couple of Thwacks and go forward to a sign on the wall.
It will blatantly hint at what you need to do here. Toss the babies aside and
flatten them, then have the babies jump onto that low platform and slip into
the passage in the wall. Move over the fan to float upward, then drop onto
the right ledge and use the trampoline to emerge on an upper ledge. Go left
and hit the ! block with Baby Mario's hammer to make it fall. Then, switch
back to the adults and have them go up the hill and across the bridge, and
north to the block.

Have the adults hit the ! block, and an opening will appear in the wall at
the peak. Send the babies through it since they're up there, then hit the
warp block in the next area to bring the adults up as well. Jump onto the 4-
person platform to reach a new area. There, use the Save Album if you want,
otherwise go across the bridge to the west area. Defeat a Tanoomba here, then
toss the babies ahd do the Baby Spin to get them across the spike pit. Switch
to the adults and let them Spin Jump over. After that, piggyback the babies
again and jump up the steps to the following area.

In this area, use the Baby Cake trick and have the babies jump into the small
hole in the wall. Float up the ledges by using the fan currents below in that
back room. Once the babies are at the top, hit the ! block to make steps for
the adults below. Have the babies exit the room to emerge at a higher point
in the area, then switch back to the adults and have them catch up by jumping
up the ledges. Once everyone is at the top platform, use the 4-person switch
to open the wall leading to the next room.

Up here, make your way to the east while defeating the Thwacks and Red
Coconutter enemies you will encounter. There are a few beans and the Counter
Badge to be had if you flatten the babies and have them venture under the
walls to the west, and then drop down to the ledges below. Either way, go up
the hills and take the north path into the next area.

Over here, flatten the babies and have them go into the hole in the wall.
You'll notice a horizontal gear in the wall outside; move the babies so
they're floating in the fan's current, then have the adults perform a Spin
Jump next to the gear to spin it, thus causing the fan to produce a stronger
gust for the babies to fly in. Float all the way up to a cloud on the right
side, and hit the ! block there to make a bridge on the east side of the area
below appear. There are a couple clouds on the left side and a couple ledges
you can stop at to hit blocks if you want. Either way, drop to the ground
with the babies and exit the room to reunite with the adults, then go east
and north along the bridge.

In this next section, go up the hills while defeating all the enemies you
come across. When you come to the section where there are several small gaps
and blocks in between, toss the babies aside and use the Baby Spin to get
them onto the upper ledge. Let the babies defeat the Red Coconutter and drop
off the right side of that platform. As for the adults, their Ball ability
will let them roll across the small gaps ahead. Reunite the pairs and
continue up the hill to the following area. There, simply jump onto the 4-
person platform to reach the next portion of the mountain trail.

Use the Save Album in this next area, then go up the hill to the next area.
Continue to the east until you reach the gear and a hole. Flatten the babies
and send them into the hole, then when they are floating above the fan, have
the adults Spin Jump to rotate the gear. The babies will then fly all the way
up, spotting a moving cloud. Ride the cloud to the right and wait for the
pancake effect to wear off, then jump to the ! block and hit it. The yellow
wall in the way outside will now be lowered. With the babies, drop to the
ground and exit the room, then reunite with the adults and go east to another
area.

In this rather straightforward area, follow the hills up to the plateau. Up
here you'll find Tanoombas and Red Coconutters to do battle with. Then, jump
up the steps and go north to the next area. Here at the volcano opening, you
will spot Princess Peach's tiara on the ground. After some deduction, it is
thought that maybe she and Bowser fell into the volcano. At that point, the
volcano erupts and the area is raining debris. You can't do much else here,
so head east to the next area.

Basically, all you can do is go down the hills and collect the easy items
from the blocks on the way. When you reach the Save Album area, save your
game. If you use the 4-person switch on the pipe, you'll return to the start
of the trail at the bottom. As for progressing now, toss the babies aside and
control the adults. You'll see the lab's door is shut, and the gear on the
left side isn't moving. Spin Jump and move next to it, causing the lab to
open up, so go inside.

In the lab, you'll meet a young version of Professor E. Gadd, then known as
Elvin Gadd. As you're talking to him, the volcano erupts and red Thwomp
blocks come crashing into the lab, including a giant one that's on fire. You
have to put out the fire to avoid an explosion, and that will require some
teamwork between the adults and babies. As the adults, Spin Jump near the
faucet in the northwest corner of the room. This will start the water
fountain nearby. Fill Baby Mario up to the maximum of 9 shots, then go to the
giant Thwomp block and let loose. All 9 shots are required to put out this
fire.

After you seemingly put out the fire, you'll watch a scene where the young
professor realizes what you just did, and causes his older self in the
present day to come up with new ideas. The next scene will show everyone
outside the now-destroyed lab. After the young E. Gadd leaves, you'll get a
message from the present day version informing you of his new Hydrogush 4000,
which will put out a volcanic eruption. He'll demonstrate this by shooting
the water through the time hole, effectively stopping the eruption.

Since you can now explore the volcanic crater, save with the Save Album again
(you really should, there's a battle coming up). Then, run back up the hills
to the peak where you'll meet the Thwomps. After some dialogue explaining how
the Thwomps are angry you put out the volcano eruption, you enter battle
against Mrs. Thwomp. Read the Bosses section for help defeating her.

Following the battle, your group will tell Mr. Thwomp about your plight, and
so he agrees to drop you into the volcano.

Thwomp Caverns
--------------

When you get down here, you'll see a scene with Bowser holding Princess Peach
captive at the bottom of the volcano. Baby Bowser will also appear and the
two will start bickering. The scene ends and you'll then have control again
(if you want to exit, use Mr. Thwomp again). Now it's time to get moving, so
head east to the next area. In this side-view room, use the Baby Spin and
direct the babies into the whirlwind. Press Right to get them moving, then
they will simply glide downward. Along the way down, feel free to follow the
coin trails for added loot. There is a ledge on the left side of the room on
the way down, with a block containing Red Peppers, should you want them. Once
you reach the bottom, go into the next room.

In the next area, hit the warp block to bring the adults in here, then you
can continue. You'll find some Gold Koopeleons in this room; they have very
high defense and run from battle quickly, but if you can kill one, you'll be
greatly rewarded. If you toss the babies into the openings at the top of the
room, you can get some coins and fight a Thwack Totem. When you're done here,
go eastward into the next area.

Here, go right and use the Ball ability to roll the adults into the cannon.
As for the babies, there is an opening in the background they can go into to
reach a hidden room. You will have to play a minigame in here courtesy of the
Thwomp that blocks you in here. When the adults are in the cannon, have the
babies pound the wall switch to launch them to the top of the room, which is
comprised of many small ledges and gems situated in certain locations. Move
the adults through this, collecting as many gems as possible. Once the adults
reach the bottom, the babies will get control again. They can spin the wheels
equal to the amount of gems collected by the adults. Here is a list of the
prizes won for lining up 3 of the same pictures:

3 Mushrooms = 20 Coins
3 Flowers = 50 Coins
3 Stars = 1 Bean

Regardless of how you do here, just as long as you play, a bridge will open
leading southward in the main room. You can also come back to play this game
at any time, so you know. If you return later, you can play the Extra Heft
mode, which will yield 5 Beans if you get 3 Stars in a row. Anyway, have the
babies reunite with the adults, then cross that bridge. In the next couple
areas, all you really have to do is go down the hills hitting blocks to
collect items. In one of the areas, you'll have more Gold Koopeleons to deal
with, and a Thwack Totem in one of those holes you throw the babies into.

At the bottom center area on the map, you'll get a scene with Stuffwell. He
points out the Thwomp block you can stand on, with the 4-person switch logo
atop it. Before you go, if you continue to the next area you can take a pipe
to the entrance area, where you can hit a ! block to open a bridge to this
pipe. This can act as a shortcut if you need to exit or reenter later on.
When you're ready, use the Thwomp elevator and go down to the second level.

Down here, you'll notice a green block preventing you from going down
further. When you have control, use the Save Album first of all. You'll then
have the option of going left or right. In the right room, you can fight more
Blazing Shroobs and Gold Koopeleons, and toss the babies to a high ledge
where they can hit a block containing a Lucky Badge. There is a ! block that
will lower the spikes on the bridge, which leads to a high coin block. Back
in the elevator room, take the west path and head into that area instead.

In this area, throw the babies into the hole to the left, where they'll find
an arrow block. Move the adults onto the red platform to the south, then have
the babies control the platform's movement. You need to go to the southmost
area of the room, but there is a side area to the west you can direct them
towards. In that side room, there are several enemies to defeat, and a block
containing the POW-Peak Badge. Also, going up the hill and dropping off the
other side acts as a way back across the lava pit in the previous room.

Either way, once the adults get to the south side of the red platform room,
hit the warp block to bring the babies over as well. Take them and go into
the east room (the west path leads to a dead end for now). Use the Baby Spin
to send the babies gliding downward through this large coin-filled area. If
you want, steer them toward the left side of the room where they can land on
a platform with a block containing Golden Pants. Once they reach the bottom,
the babies can either go west (through a pipe, then hitting a ! block leading
to the top of the room they just came from), or east. In the east room, go
down the hill and use the warp block to reunite with the adults.

With both pairs together again, defeat the Blazing Shroobs in this room. At
the bottom, go west and double jump to hit the green ! block to lower the
Thwomp elevator to where you are. If you want, go into the west room and hit
a couple blocks for more Bros. Items; otherwise ride the Thwomp down to the
third level.

Down here at the third tier, you are blocked by a red block, as you can see.
You can also go east or west once more. If you go west, you can take the blue
pipe to the entrance area and hit a ! block leading to the entrance for
easier access should you return here later. Also, if you go into the green
pipe, you can hit a ! block which forms bridges leading to the level you just
came from, so you can return here later easily.

When you're ready to continue down into the volcano, take the east path from
the Thwomp elevator. In this room, you'll have to play another minigame to be
given access to the red ! block high above. Use the Baby Spin to toss the
babies into the whirlwind, then sending them downward through the room. The
goal is to collect 30 gems, so be quick to move back and forth in the air to
collect as many as possible. Once you hit the bottom, if you collected the 30
gems, the Thwomp will let Baby Mario hit the red ! block. On the way down,
there is a ledge on the right side of the room; if you manage to fall onto it
and enter that room, you can hit several blocks to obtain plenty of nice
items, including the Dynamic Badge.

As with the first minigame, you can return again later to try again. On
subsequent tries, if you manage to grab all 50 gems, you'll be rewarded with
the Simple Badge. Should you fall short, you can hit the block to get 20
coins. Anyway, now that the red block is removed, go back to the center room
and ride the Thwomp downward some more. At the next stop, if you go west you
can take the final blue pipe up to the entrance and hit a ! block to form a
bridge leading back and forth from here.

In the elevator room, you can simply hit the blue ! block to remove the final
block underneath your Thwomp ride. Make sure you use recovery items so all 4
of you are in top shape, then use the Save Album and ride downward to the
bottom region. Down there, you'll watch a scene where Princess Peach is
seemingly left unguarded. Then suddenly, Baby Bowser and the adult Bowser
will appear and engage in battle. So, read the Bosses section for help
beating this duo.

Once you defeat them, the Thwomp elevator they both lay upon will shoot out
of the volcano. Adult Bowser will be knocked off by one of those flying
saucers, then on the way back down, Baby Bowser and the Thwomp will fall onto
the mother ship. The ship will then appear in the volcano, knocking a hole in
the outer cliffs, and sending a hose inside to retrieve Princess Peach.
Seeing this, Mario and Luigi and their baby counterparts will jump into the
beam and thus end up inside the mother ship as well.

Shroob Mother Ship
------------------

In the initial room here, use the Save Album as it's a good idea to do so. If
you want, hop up the ledges along the back of the room to reach a M block
containing a Max Mushroom. Then, go south to the next room. Here, toss the
babies onto the high north platform, then have the adults Spin Jump their way
to them. Use the Baby Spin to send them to the top ledge, where they can hit
the L block containing 2 Ultra Drops.

Going into the east room, head to the right and you'll encounter a couple of
Guardian Shroobs. There are a couple ledges where you can send the babies, or
even use the Baby Cake trick to slip them under a low opening behind the
gates. When you reach the bottom end of the hill at the far side of the room,
send the babies to the left to hit a hidden block containing Drain Badge A.
Then, continue into the east room, as it continues around the ship's
perimeter.

In this area, send the babies onto the trampoline, and you'll see a line of
wall switches that if hit, cause the corresponding lights below them to turn
on. As the adults, hit the ! block and it'll move to another location in the
area. Follow the block's shadow to where it moves, then have the babies hit
the switches until the light shines upon the block, allowing you to hit it.
Do this a few times and a bridge will be formed up ahead. When you hit the
block for the last time, the east wall will lower, allowing you to progress.
Drop the babies down the hole at the end of their path, then reunite with the
adults and enter the following room.

In here, you can hit another ! block to make a bridge appear leading to the
entrance rooms. It would be a good idea to return to the first chamber in
this fashion so you can use the Save Album. When you're ready, jump onto the
4-person switch to enter the room in the back. Inside, you'll meet Princess
Peach again, but it turns out to be a mere hologram. Suddenly, you are
surrounded by Shroobs as the supposed Princess Peach with the fungus on her
face enters the room and reveals herself as the Princess Shroob. After this
encounter, one of the Shroobs will defect and clears the room for you. It
turns out this Shroob was Kylie Koopa in disguise! She then leads you onto an
elevator of sorts in the next room.

During this elevator ride, you'll hear Kylie talk some more about her big key
and Princess Shroob's plans to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom. At the end of
the ride, you'll exit the elevator. In the new chamber, hit a block to find a
1-Up Super and a Save Album, so utilize the opportunity to save now. Also,
healing up would be a great idea at this point, for there is a battle coming
up shortly.

In the final room, you'll see Kylie Koopa who tells you to look at the giant
keyhole in front of her. She uses her key, which appaers to power up some
machine. It then promptly drops all of you into a pit; Kyle seems to hang on
to the key but is soon surrounded by Shroobs and the Princess Shroob herself.
They end up knocking her into the pit as well. Meanwhile, on the roof, Baby
Bowser breaks a hole in the roof and drops in. The next scene shows where
everyone who fell into the pit and thus out of the ship ended up. Kylie falls
back to Yoshi's Island, while the rest of your group lands in the ruins of
Toad Town.

Toad Town
---------

Upon your arrival here, Stuffwell will come out and suggest you check out the
nearby shop for signs of life. So, go into the shop and you'll find Grammy
Red and Green running the usual shops inside, complete with new badges and
clothing for you to buy! Now is an excellent time to upgrade your clothes, so
make sure you do that. When you're done here, go back outside and use the
Save Album before continuing.

Since Toad Town is in shambles, there are plenty of enemies running around,
so be ready for anything when wandering the town. Wander the streets here
fighting the Shroids, then make your way to the south end of town. If you
take the south path to the next area, you'll find 2 blocks that you have to
hit quickly after the first set on the other side are hit. You've done this
before in the desert, so you should know how this works. Leave the adults
here, and take the babies to the east portion of the first area. Drill under
the gate of the house with a bridge on the second floor leading eastward.
Inside, jump up the ledges and exit via the bridge, then continue to the next
area.

In this next area, you'll get to deal with various new enemies, including the
Skellokey and Love Bubble. Fight some enemies as you lead the babies
southward to the next area, where they will find the other 2 blocks in the
set you left the adults at. Have the babies hit the first 2 blocks, then the
adults get the last 2; doing this will open the gates to the south. Stuffwell
then comes out and points out the Cobalt Star's actions relating to Star Hill
being near. Stuffwell also suggests staying separate from the babies for now,
so take his advice and go west with the adults.

Here, fight some more enemies and take the southeast exit to the following
section. Over there, continue moving about the area, defeating any and all
enemies you come across. There are several item blocks atop high perches you
can reach by hopping up from the lower ledges and Spin Jumping your way
around the area. There are two paths you can take in this section of town; if
you go to the west area, you can Spin Jump between a few platforms to reach a
block containing Para Slacks. If you go east however, you'll reach another
set of those blocks you need both pairs to hit them all in order to open the
gates.

Leaving the adults below the blocks, switch back to the babies and send them
southeast to their new area. There, defeat some enemies, then have the babies
drill under the gates to reach the second half of the room. Beat some more
enemies in there before heading onward to the next area where the other set
of blocks are. Hit all 4 blocks starting with the adults, then to the babies,
and the gates below will open. Send either set through to the south area,
then hit the warp block to bring the other pair over quickly.

With both sets of brothers together again, use the Save Album. If you're up
for treasure hunting, run back to the west side of Toad Town with both sets
of brothers together. Send the babies into the yellow houses and hit the
blocks inside to get the Dynamic Badge A and Max Mushrooms, as well as some
coins. If you want a shortcut to the castle's dungeon, double jump to hit the
! block. Otherwise, jump on the 4-person platform and go down the pipe to
Star Hill.

Star Hill
---------

When you arrive in this area, Stuffwell will point out the Cobalt Star going
wild and becoming hard to control. When you're ready, go east to the second
area. Simply follow the linear path as it zig-zags upward through the area,
while defeating the Love Bubbles and Handfakes along the way. Eventually you
will come to a gear, a gate that can only be exited from the inside, and a
low opening. Toss the babies aside and flatten them with the Baby Cake
ability, and send them into the low opening. In the back room, let them float
in the fan's current, then have the adults Spin Jump to turn the gear.

When the wind blows the babies upward, have them land on the left ledge and
drill under the gate to exit this room and make progress. Outside again, hit
the warp block to reunite with the adults. Now, you can take either path
upward to the following area, or you can take both to get the items from both
blocks. In the next area, go to the west and east sides collecting items from
the blocks. Also, make sure to use the Save Album along the path going north.
Up there, you'll run into the Commander Shroob who will summon a whole group
of Shroobs to attack you. However, a giant bomb is dropped on them, leaving
only 3 Support Shroobs behind. You'll now have to fight them, so read the
Bosses section for help with winning.

After the fight, go north to the next area. Here at the summit, you'll see a
vision of the completed Cobalt Star's sprite, who tells you to find the
remaining shards as they are key to defeating Princess Shroob. When the Star
Sprite leaves, a bridge will be formed to the right, so follow it to the next
area. Go all the way along this bridge to the following area, where you can
use the 4-person platform to go down the pipe leading into the Star Shrine.

Star Shrine
-----------

Upon your arrival here, save via the Save Album, then go north. In the next
area, you'll come across the giant star gate. It will speak to you for a
while, before deducting that you cannot pass due to Luigi; however if you can
hit the Aurora Block, it will prove your worth and ability to continue.

If you look at the map, you'll see two paths you can take to reach the center
room at the north end of the map. Both paths are essentially the same, with
the same type of enemies and blocks to jump upon and hit for items. On the
east path, you can hit a block containing Shroom Badge A; that's really the
only highlight of the east side. In the northeast/northwest rooms, you will
have to toss the babies aside so the adults can Spin Jump between the high
ledges to reach the center room.

Regardless of what path you took, you should end up in the center room at
some point. When you get there, hit the warp block to bring the babies up to
where you are. From there, continue north to the following area. There,
you'll see a gear and two trampolines for the babies. Send the babies onto
the left one, and fill Baby Mario up with some water. Then, have the babies
face the opening to the right while the adults Spin Jump to spin the gear.
This will send the Aurora Block upward in the air. Switch to the babies and
spit water at the block when it goes up or down to knock it to the other
segment of clouds.

Drop the babies down the hole and have them jump up the right trampoline this
time, then hit the block to bring it down by the adults. Reunite the babies
with the adults, then double jump to hit the Aurora Block. This will send it
over to the star gate, so make your way back down to that location on your
map. Once there, you'll have another scene in which the gate totally
embarasses Luigi before finally letting him hit the block to prove his worth.
When all is said and done, the gate will open, so continue to the next area.
There, hop onto the 4-person platform to go down into a new part of the
shrine.

Down here, use the Save Album before continuing to the south. You'll notice
the next 5 sections are in the form of a star, and you have to visit each
one. In the first one (where you are now), defeat the enemies and double jump
to hit the red star block. Your job in this area is complete, and just
because that's how I went, let's go clockwise around this area.

In the second room, simply defeat the enemies and toss the babies into the
holes so they can hit the blocks, then continue on (don't hit the red star
block here just yet). At the third room, toss the babies onto the high ledge
and have them enter a room with 12 blue blocks, which change color depending
on who hits them. As for the adults, have them hit the ! block and the 12
stars on the floor will light up. This is the pattern in which you have to
hit the blocks with the babies in that room. Here is a diagram of that
pattern, for reference (G is green, R is red):

                        G G R R
                         G R G R
                        G G R R

If it's done correctly, the red star block will appear outside the room. Have
the babies reunite with the adults, and double jump to hit it. If you've been
paying attention to the map, you'll notice when you hit a star block that a
couple of colored beams partially appear in the center region. If you hit the
blocks in opposing areas after each other, it'll form the beam between them.
If you hit a block and it can't form a path with either of the partial beams
from the previously hit block, the first 2 beams will shut off and the ones
from the blocks you just hit will appear instead.

Having hit the third block, the red beam will now be formed. So, go back to
the second room and hit the red star block to make the green and blue beams
partially appear. Continuing in a clockwise fashion, head to the fourth room.
There, defeat the Piranha Planet and Wonder Thwack and hit the red star block
to connect the blue beams in the center. Now, continue to the fifth section.
Here, toss the babies onto the lower ledge and send them into that room. With
the adults, hit the Shine Block to make it so the babies can navigate the
dark room. One of the blocks in here contains a pair of Stache Jeans, should
you want to seek them out.

When you get the babies out via the other exit in the room, have them hit the
star block to send it down by the adults. Drop the babies down and reunite
with the adults to double jump, hitting the block. This will give you half
the yellow and green paths. Now that you've been to every room, let's go back
through and activate the remaining beams. Since you hit the block in the
fifth room, go to the second one and hit the block to finish the green beam.
Hit the blocks in the third and fifth rooms to get the yellow beam done.
After that, go to the fourth and first areas and hit those blocks to complete
the purple beam.

With all 5 beams active and forming a star in the center area, a bridge
leading to a pipe in the center. Go to the northmost area and take the bridge
to the center, and hop onto the pipe to reach a more complex area of the
shrine. In the room where you end up, use the Save Album, then go into the
next room. Continue through the next room, simply hitting the blocks to get a
couple Bros. Items.

In the room ahead, go forward and you'll find a Cobalt Star shard stuck in
the wall. Hop on the 4-person switch and the door on the upper level will
open, and the shard will fall to the ground for you to collect. Upon your
receiving the shard, Kylie Koopa and Toadbert are dropped in via Lakitu. It
turns out Toadbert has the final shard, but he runs deeper into the shrine
realizing you have the rest of the shards already. There's not much else you
can do but give chase, so go up the hills and enter the next room.

Here, head all the way west while defeating the Piranha Planets and Wonder
Thwacks in the way. At the far end, you'll see that the wall is full of low
passageways, good for the babies to travel when flattered. Use the adults'
Ball ability to flatten the babies, then have them jump into the wall maze.
Have the babies jump to go up the steps, and the fans to reach higher ledges.
Make your way up through the maze, taking side paths to collect items from
blocks, one of which will yield a Hit-Free Badge. If the babies revert to
normal size while in the maze, have them simply drop down to the ground and
let the adults roll over them again. Continue through the maze until you
reach a barred doorway, then drill under it with the babies.

In this back room, have Baby Mario hammer the wall switch to make a ledge
appear outside leading to the top section of the room. Have the adults jump
up all the steps going eastward, then Spin Jump to the west and continue
hopping across. At the last step, walk onto the upper plateau and kill some
enemies before going into the north area. There, hit the warp block on the
right side of the room, and use the Save Album if you desire.

There are two paths to the top of this room, as you can see. The left path
has more blocks containing items, whereas the right side has a single block
containing a 1-Up Super. At the top, jump onto the 4-person switch to reach
the next area. There, you'll see Kylie and Toadbert on the ground apparently
beaten by some monster up ahead. Toadbert will tell you to look on his sketch
to find the secret, so use the stylus to rub away the dirt in the bottom
right corner. When you achieve this, Toadbert will start to tell you what it
means, but then the Elder Shrooboid will bust into the room. The monster will
turn Kylie and Toadbert into mushrooms, before engaging in battle with your
group; read the Bosses section for help defeating this creature.

Once you beat the boss, you'll receive the fifth Cobalt Star shard. According
to Stuffwell, you'll now have access to the Shroob Castle. However, you can't
do anything about Kylie and Toadbert at the moment. So, go up the hill and
through the door to the final area. Hop into the time hole to return to the
present day.

Peach's Castle Dungeon
----------------------

Here in the castle's dungeon/sewer system, hop across the pipes to the right
and go north to the next room. All through this underground area, you'll face
Goombas but they are extremely weak, so don't worry about them too much. In
this second area, there are a couple blocks to hit containing a Super Drop
and an Ultra Drop. As you enter the room too, you'll see a figure creeping
around in the pipes. Move to the southeast part of the room and have the
babies drill under the grating to enter the pipes. In the passages they can
hit blocks to knock 100-coin pieces into the room above for the adults to
collect.

Lead the babies to the west, then northward to what appears to be a hidden
shop. Talk to the shopkeeper and you'll soon find out that it is Fawful (for
those of you who remembered the first Mario & Luigi game). In this game, he
runs Fawful's Bean 'n' Badge shop. After his ranting, you'll be able to trade
the beans you've collected throughout the game in exchange for rare badges.
Buy what you want here, then lead the babies back out of the piping. Reunite
them with the adults, then take the northwest exit to the next area (if you
take the southwest path, you'll reach a time hole leading to Toad Town; you
need to reach Toad Town via the other hole and open the gate in order to
access the town from this location).

In the next room, defeat some more Goombas and have the babies drill under
the gates to hit blocks within the piping. In the room to the north, you can
hit some blocks to get every type of Mushroom, and double jump to hit a coin
block. When you reach the final room to the west, use the Save Album and hop
onto the 4-person platform atop the pipe to enter the castle above.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

Back here, go east a couple rooms and visit E. Gadd in the throne room. Talk
to him and he will tell you to go to the third floor time hole to reach the
Shroob Castle. Before you go, be sure to stop in at the Shroom Shop to
upgrade your clothes, stock up on items, and buy some new badges if you want
(I recommend the Cure Badge A and Drain Badge A; both are great). When you're
set to go, take the stairs to the third floor of the castle.

Once you reach the third floor, hit the M and L boxes to get a 1-Up Super and
Wild Trousers. In the next room, you'll find the time hole. Use the Save
Album, then jump in to return to the past.

Princess Peach's Castle (Past)
------------------------------

When you arrive here, go forward to the gate. The Cobalt Star will open the
castle's gate for you, allowing access, so go north into the next room. Here,
defeat the Tashroobas and head to the part of this room. Hit the blocks to
the right, then toss the babies onto the left ledge and have them enter the
dark room. As always, have the correct adult hit the Shine Block according to
the letter displayed on it, to shine light in the room where the babies are.

Lead the babies to the ! block and hit it to lower one of the ledges leading
to the exit of this maze. Ride the moving red platform to the right side and
continue along the path, reilluminating the area as needed, until the babies
reach the end. Back outside, have Baby Mario use the hammer on the wall
switch to make the ! block in the main room come out of the wall. Reunite
with the adults and hit the block to make a bridge leading to the eastern
room appear. Take that bridge into the next room.

In this eastern chamber, defeat the Snoozorb and Tashroobas disguised as
blocks. When you get to the gate, have the babies drill under it. Pound the
wall switch to open the gate for the adults, then pick up the babies and hit
the blocks for some coins and items before heading to the room ahead. In that
next room, hop onto the 4-person platform to go down the pipe.

When you arrive in the next area, use the Save Album. You will notice 3
different paths leading out of this room, and a locked door to the north for
now. If you look at the map, each path leads to the other, and all the rooms
are chock full of item blocks and stronger enemies, including the Shroob Rex.
So basically, right now all you need to do is wander all the rooms on the map
and kill all the enemies you encounter. You'll probably gain a couple levels
in the process, which is great. If you have the Treasure Badge (or a few of
them), equip them as you do these battles for an increased chance at winning
the 100-Point Pants (the best gear for the babies) from Shroob Rex enemies in
battle.

Once you finally clear out all the rooms, you'll notice 4 rooms have giant
beam towers with the 2 blocks near them. If you hit the first 2 blocks, you
have 9 seconds to hit the 2 blocks at the opposing tower (northeast and
southwest towers match, as do the northwest and southeast ones). This means
you'll have to leave the babies/adults at one end, then send the other pair
to the opposing tower, then hit all 4 blocks together.

Either way, once you get both beams going, it will reveal a ! block in the
center room where the paths branch off from. Reunite both pairs of brothers,
then go to the center room once more. Use the Baby Spin to send the babies
onto the high platform where they can hit the ! block, opening the north
door. Go into that room and hop onto the pipe to reach the castle's second
floor.

Upstairs, save with the Save Album, heal up, then go into the east room.
You'll see a path going north to the yellow hall, but if you go there the
flying saucers will shoot at you, preventing access. For now, go back and
continue east into the library. You'll fight Shroobsworths/Intern Shroobs, as
well as Soul Bubbles and Snoozorbs inside. The Shroobsworth/Intern Shroob
drops the Supreme Slacks, which are the adults' best gear to wear. Hit the
blocks in this room, then go through the northern hole in the wall.

Walk under the awning to make it across the yellow hall room safely. In the
room ahead, hit the ! block and you'll have 23 seconds to race to the top of
the staircases and hit the second block to open the door. As in the original
castle, use the adults' Ball ability to roll up there quickly, making sure
not to hit the small obstructions blocking parts of the path. At the top, go
through the door to the next room. There, hit the blocks to get 5 coins and 3
Super Mushrooms, then use the Save Album. When you're ready to continue hop
onto the 4-person switch to open the door leading inside the giant flying
saucer parked on the roof.

Inside this saucer, it takes off into the air only to be confronted by the
enemy saucers. You now have to play a minigame of sorts to shoot down the
enemies. The babies and adults are lined up, each of them under a block.
There are gray blocks above the babies and Luigi, and you'll notice 3 giant
meters behind them. When the game begins, you jump with the designated baby
or Luigi to hit the block when the meter fills. Depending on how full the
meter was when you hit the block, your flying saucer will move up that much.
You'll have to repeat this with the other baby and then Luigi if you want to
achieve maximum height. At any time you can have Mario hit his block to shoot
a beam from the saucer, but this lowers its height to the bottom, causing you
to hit the gray blocks with the others from the beginning.

Although it feels more like a tutorial if anything, there will be several
rounds of flying saucers you must shoot down. The first couple sets don't
move, but the last 2 sets do, so line up your saucer by giving it just enough
height and time your shots well to do it successfully. Once you shoot down
all the flying saucers, you'll land back on the roof and exit the ship,
effectively clearing the saucers flying over the yellow hallway below.

Go back down the staircase room and down to the yellow hallway. With the
saucers gone, head west and north to the room with 2 pipes. Go up to the
first plateau to find the first pipe. This is the one you need to take, so
hop onto it to reach the third floor (the other pipe will lead to the
entrance).

On the third floor, use the Save Album and go into the east room. In here are
those 4 blocks you need everyone to hit quickly (you should be used to them
by now). There are also two paths leading to the southern chamber, so head
down that way. In that room, use the Baby Spin to send the babies onto the
north ledge. Have Baby Mario pound the wall switch to make one of the ledges
lower for the adults. With the adults, go right and hop up the steps, then
Spin Jump your way all the way left to the ! block. Hit it to lower the ledge
in the previous room.

Go back to the block room and toss the babies onto the upper ledge. Let them
hit the first 2 blocks, then the adults get the last set. Doing this will
open the door to the north, so head into that new room. There you'll get to
see Princess Peach on a monitor. She'll tell you that she's locked up in the
top of the giant statue, but then the transmission will end. Hit all the
blocks in the room, then hop onto the pipe on the left side of the room. A
small scene will take place as you're going down the pipes, where a Chain
Chomp knocks the piping out of line, sending you down into the basement
instead of to the upper floors.

Princess Peach's Cellar (Past)
------------------------------

Down here in the castle basement, use the Save Album and go into the east
room. Defeat the Shroobsworth/Intern Shroob combos, and the Ghoul Guys you
find down here. Use the Ball ability to flatten the babies, then have them
jump into the hole in the back wall and float in the first fan's current for
now. Move the babies to the far west portion of the room, going from fan to
fan. At the end, switch to the adults and Spin Jump to power up that fan,
sending the babies to the ceiling. If you want, after the babies ride the
westmost fan all the way up, move right above the next fan in the sequence,
then drop down to the area below it where another set of fans are blowing.
Move right from there to a hidden ledge with 2 blocks containing coins and
the Space Trousers. Anyway, when the babies reach the top area, continue
floating to the right and use the trampoline to exit the room.

Where the babies end up, use the hammer to pound the wall switch, causing
steps to form nearby. Have the adults go up those steps and reunite with the
babies, then head into the following room. Use the Baby Spin to reach the
whirlwind above, and have the babies glide their way to the bottom of this
coin-filled area. There's no minigame here, don't worry about having to
collect anything in particular. At the bottom, have the babies exit the room.
Hit the ! block to lower a bridge connecting the previous room to this one.
Have the adults enter via that bridge from where you left them.

When both pairs are in this next room, defeat the enemies and toss the babies
into the giant stump hole in the corner. Make the adults use the Ball form to
roll into the cannon, while the babies pound the wall switch, sending the
adults to a western platform. Over there, defeat the enemies, then hit the
warp block to call the babies over. Use the Baby Spin to send them east
across the spike pit to the next platform. You have another set of 4 blocks
to hit, so let the adults start it off, then the babies finish it off on the
other side. This will lower the bridge between the three platforms.

Send the adults across the bridge to reunite with the babies, then hit the
block above the second bridge to get 2 Ultra Mushrooms. Then, jump onto the
4-person switch to enter the north room. In there, simply hop onto the 4-
person switch atop the pipe to travel to a new area of the cellar.

When you emerge, use the Save Album before continuing eastward. In these next
several rooms, you'll have to navigate the pipelines in order to proceed.
Have the babies drill under the grating to enter the first set of pipes. Let
them explore the piping, defeating Lethal Bob-ombs on the way and hitting
blocks (one of the blocks contains a pair of Rocket Jeans, too). Drill under
the southeast exit to reach a new platform. Hit the ! block to form a bridge
to the first area and have the adults come across to hit the blocks
containing coins, Refreshing Herbs, and the Lucky Badge A.

Go back across the bridge with everyone and follow the pipes going into the
eastern room. In here, you'll see several paths branching out from this
central room. The southern area leads to 2 blocks containing coins and Blue
Peppers. The northwest and northeast paths lead around an empty loop, so
don't worry about those unless you want to dig up a couple more beans. With
that all said, take the southeast path onward. Double jump to hit the first !
block to form the first bridge, then continue on. As you approach the second
block, the Chain Chomp will eat it and then retreats into the pipes above. 4
blocks then appear in that loop of empty rooms you just came from, so return
there.

The idea behind this game of sorts is to hit any 2 blocks to form a beam
between the two, which will be launched in that direction at the pipes above.
If you look at the top screen, you'll see which pipe Chain Chomp is occupying
and where the blocks are, for a good idea on which ones to hit to make a
direct shot. Chain Chomp has 4 hearts on his meter, and after each successful
hit, he moves to another of the 5 pipes on the top screen. For the first
shot, the top/bottom blocks will work. The second one will use the bottom and
right ones. The third will use the left and top blocks. Finally, the last
attack gives you 5 Chomps to shoot at from the pipes. The one you want is the
one snapping its teeth the fastest, so aim for it.

Once you beat the Chain Chomp, the ! block will be spit out and sent back to
its original position. So, head back to the southeastern room and cross the
bridge to meet with the babies again. Double jump to hit the ! block and the
spikes will retract on the bridge above. Cross it and hop onto the pipe in
the next room to get back to the first floor.

Princess Peach's Castle (Past)
------------------------------

Up here, go into the west room. There, hit the ! block to open the gate
connecting this room to the rest of the floor. It will also open up a gate in
the back wall where the babies can slip under. Have the babies drill under
the gate and hop up the steps inside to reach the upper wall. Exit through
the hole and the babies will be able to walk along the perimeter of all the
rooms by following these walls. If you want to go exploring, there are blocks
that can be found with coins and items inside, and the occasional Ghoul Guys
and crates you can break with your hammers in your way.

Lead the babies to the room in the northwest corner of the map and drop down
to hit a wall switch. This will open the large gate that otherwise made this
room inaccessible earlier. Switch to the adults and hit the warp block to
bring the babies back. Next, drill the babies under the gate in the wall and
follow the wall perimeter to the northeast corner of the map this time. Once
the babies are there below the 2 blocks, switch back to the adults. Move them
to the northwest room since the gate is lowered and they can now enter. When
the adults get there, hit the first 2 blocks, then have the babies hit their
two. This will activate the beam which will unblock the pipe in the center
room.

Now, move either pair back to the north center room and hit the warp block to
bring the other pair back quickly. With both babies and adults reunited, hop
onto the pipe to use it. Back on the second floor, go to the west room.
Defeat the enemies in here, then go into the library to the west. Now that
you're able to access the east side of the room, hit the ! block to lower a
shelf making for easy access to this side should you exit the castle. Baby
Spin to send the babies atop the shelves to hit blocks containing a 1-Up
Super, Red Peppers, and Green Peppers. Go back to the previous room, and head
north this time.

Now that you're able to access this portion of the yellow hallway, hit the
block for 3 Refreshing Herbs before you continue northward. In that room, hit
the blocks to get some Super Mushrooms and regular Mushrooms, then hop on the
4-person platform to go down the pipe. On the third floor once again, hit the
blocks to get Red and Green Shells, then heal up and use the Save Album. For
an easy shortcut back to here, go into the west room and have Baby Mario hit
the wall switch to lower the gate. Also, be sure to hit the M block which
contains 2 1-Up Supers.

Head back to the previous room and hop up the ledges to start going up the
statue's side. As you go up the hills, you'll see a ledge in the air to the
right. Baby Spin onto it and hit the blocks to get an assortment of some
Bros. Items. Once you reach the top, jump onto the 4-person switch to enter
the statue itself.

Princess Peach's Castle Statue (Past)
-------------------------------------

Inside the statue at last, use the pipe in the top-right corner. Hit the !
block at the other end to form a bridge leading to the entrance area of the
castle for easy access. Go back into the statue and use the Save Album before
going into the north room. Make your way up the steep sets of stairs, hitting
all the blocks along the way for some recovery items. In the room ahead,
you'll witness a scene where the Cobalt Star parts ways with you, and you
hear the princess calling from up ahead. Continue your way upstairs until you
are stopped again by Stuffwell.

This time, Stuffwell will nag you to save your game since you won't be able
to return once you go through the door ahead. So, use the heart block to
fully heal your party, then use the Save Album. When you're ready, hop onto
the 4-person switch and enter the following room. Inside, you'll meet up with
the real Princess Peach who is surrounded by a protective barrier. After
talking to her for a bit, the Shroob mother ship will attack once more. To
counter it, you'll have to board a saucer atop the statue, so go into the
west room.

When you reach the Save Block in here, Stuffwell will tell you about a
development where he can take you back through time to the time before you
saw Princess Peach, in case there was anything else you wanted to do in
the world. If you want to go back, use this option (he drops you off in the
room before you met Princess Peach, so you'll be free to go down and exit the
castle from there. Either way, save with the Save Album before going
upstairs.

At the top, you'll board a flying saucer and will have to play the same
minigame you did earlier. The only difference this time is that the mother
ship sends out smaller ones that can collide with you. You and the ship each
have 4 units of health (look above the saucers to find this meter). You have
to shoot one of the smaller saucers which will bounce and hit the mother ship
if it's lined up properly. This is the only way to damage the mother ship.
Once you manage to land 4 hits in this fashion, the mother ship will crash
into the statue below.

When you land the ship, go back downstairs and use the Save Album once more.
If there's anything you wanted to do elsewhere in the world, now is the best
time to do it! When you're ready to continue with the end of the game, go
into the east room. The barrier around Princess Peach will be gone, and the
mother ship will appear to be dead. As you all approach it however, the door
opens and Princess Shroob emerges. After some taunts, it will engage in what
will become the final battle. Read the Bosses section on help with defeating
the Princess Shroob.

Once you win the first battle, it will appear that you beat the evil Shroobs
once and for all. After talking to Princess Peach and realizing she has the
final shard of the Cobalt Star, Baby Bowser will appear and puts the shard
into the Cobalt Star, causing it to become whole. However, the secret will be
out about why the star was shattered in the first place, and you'll now have
to fight Princess Shroob's twin sister, albeit much fatter.

After the final fight with Princess Shroob is done, watch the scenes and you
will then return to the present day for the last time.

Princess Peach's Castle
-----------------------

Here for one last time, go north 2 rooms. You will see Bowser laying there
from earlier when he crashed through the upper floor. After a quick scene
with the Princess Shroob mushroom that Baby Luigi was holding, Bowser will be
revived with its power and you'll enter a mock battle of sorts (you still
have to win it). Basically, use your jump and hammer attacks to hit/avoid the
fireballs being shot at you. These will in turn hit the cloud of Princess
Shroob on the top screen. When its meter is emptied, Bowser will return to
normal and the battle will end.

Following this mini-battle, watch the remaining scenes where the younger
counterparts return to the past. The game then ends here and the credits
roll, so congratulations on completing this game!

Hammer Bro (x2)
    Found: Vim Factory
    Experience Points: 160
    Coins: 70
    Item Dropped: Mushroom Drop
Strategy: This battle really isn't hard at all, since both Hammer Bros
have only one attack. The one brother will curl up into a ball
and the other one will hit him your way with his hammer. If the
hammer head falls off, don't jump to dodge it, but if it stays
on, be prepared to jump! Using Bros. Items, especially the Bro
Flowers, will help to defeat these guys quickly. When you kill
one brother, the other one will simply attack by throwing
hammers in the air which will hit the ground and bounce in your
direction (jump to avoid them). Other than that, they're easy
to kill off relatively quickly, so don't worry too much.

Swiggler
    Found: Vim Factory
    Experience Points: 784
    Coins: 140
    Item Dropped: 1-Up Super
Strategy: The giant drinking caterpillar here is accompanied by 2 Dr.
Shroob enemies, but don't bother killing them as they will just
keep coming back. Another important thing to note is this: when
the boss is red, do NOT attack it since that will result in a
counter attack in which you jump to avoid the shock waves
heading your way. The Dr. Shroobs each hold out a Mushroom
after a round of battle. Keep an eye out for the gray Mushroom,
and attack that Shroob to drop the poisonous fungi into the
drink. That way, when Swiggler drinks from the cup, it will
become poisoned, leaving it vulnerable to your stronger
attacks. Try not to hit a Dr. Shroob holding a regular Mushroom
as that will cure the boss. If you can't poison the drink after
the round, Swiggler will drink it normally and fuel up a couple
flying saucers which will shoot at you (jump to avoid the
blasts). Anyway, when you manage to weaken the boss, it would
be a great idea to use the Cannonballer Bros. Item for maximum
damage (I can usually pull around 65 HP when I use this here).
Even if Swiggler is still weakened, if a Dr. Shroob carries the
poisonous Mushroom, hit him to taint the drink again, so
there's no chance of there being a needless flying saucer
attack. It will take several rounds of doing this, but it
really is easy if you get the hang of poisoning the drink and
not damaging the boss until it's weakened. Also worthy of
mentioning is that if a Dr. Shroob is holding a Mushroom at the
end of the round, he will eat the Mushroom and shrink/grow,
then attack you, so be ready to counter that with your Hammer.
Swiggler also has a gas attack which you can Hammer away if
you're quick enough. Overall, the battle is simple but it can
either go quickly or take a while depending on how often the
              gray Mushrooms appear.

Kamek
    Found: Yoshi's Island
    Experience Points: 520
    Coins: 50
    Item Dropped: Ultra Drop
Strategy: Also known as Magikoopa, this boss can cast a spell that either
drops a spiked ball or a Mushroom on your head. To counter it,
use the Hammer but only against the spiked ball; don't hit the
Mushroom and you'll regain health! Kamek will often split into
5, but only one of them is the real thing. Now, you can either
jump on them one at a time to find out, or wait until they each
start casting the spiked balls in the air above you, and knock
them back at Kamek. The spiked balls will hit the real boss, so
keep an eye on where he is so you can really attack. The above
attack pattern is all that Kamek can do, not to mention he can
temporarily lose his broomstick. As long as you can knock back
those spiked balls successfully, you should have no trouble
              whatsoever here.

Sunnycide
    Found: Yoob's Belly
    Experience Points: 1040
    Coins: 150
    Item Dropped: Super Drop
Strategy: This egg monster, surrounded by 5 regular-sized eggs, has high
defense and won't really take damage if you hit it directly.
So, the battle plan early on is to concentrate on attacking the
eggs. They will not attack you, so don't worry. Sunnycide will
try to suck you into its body to heal itself at the cost of
your own HP, so use your Hammer for a timed attack to avoid
healing the boss. If you cause around 25-30 HP of damage to an
egg, it'll hatch, revealing a Yoshi who will run up and help
push a boulder off a ledge above the battle. You'll need to
attack and hatch 5 Yoshis in order to push the boulder off,
flipping Sunnycide on its side, literally. This is your chance
to really cause damage, so get ready with the Cannonballer
Bros. Items! You should easily get off 85-100 HP damage each
turn with this. While Sunnycide is on its side though, it can
pull a chain to drop one of you into a pit; when you see the
ground below one of the brothers starting to warp, jump to
avoid the pit. After a few rounds, Sunnycide will get back on
its feet and drop more eggs into the room. For now on though,
Sunnycide may try to target a brother and launch the eggs at
you, so jump to avoid those. You still need to hatch 5 of them
to drop another boulder on the boss to continue the attack
cycle. If you're strong enough, you should be able to end this
              in 2 boulder-dropping cycles.

Shrooboid Brat
    Found: Koopaseum
    Experience Points: 720
    Coins: 100
    Item Dropped: Max Mushroom
Strategy: This giant Shroob carries a giant lollipop, and uses it to
attack you. The brat may poll the audience, then whichever
brother's letter is picked the most (it doesn't always go by
color, be careful), the boss will throw a lollipop at them.
Later in the battle, there could be several votes in a row, so
be quick to catch them all so you don't get attacked off guard.
Another move involves Mushrooms and Fire Flowers moving along
the top of the screen in one of 2 rows, each bearing the letter
L or M. Poisonous Mushrooms will be transformed into regular
ones that can heal you, and vice versa; Fire Flowers will be
spit at you in the form of fireballs. That attack is executed
in reverse order (say you see 3 Mushrooms and they go to M, L,
then L; the first attack will be for L, then L, and finally M).
To avoid more frequent attacks in later rounds, you will want
to apply the beatdown early on with Bros. Items. As long as you
can dodge the voted-upon attacks, and inflict your own in a
timely fashion, this battle is a piece of cake.

Petey Piranha
    Found: Gritzy Caves
    Experience Points: 1440
    Coins: 250
Strategy: You get to fight the giant piranha plant here, and it will be a
fairly lengthy battle. Petey Piranha can jump up to a platform
on the top screen, then he jumps down to hit the ground. This
attack will send a couple of leaves your way, which you can
avoid. If he spins while jumping, you can clear both leaves
with a single jump with both brothers; if the boss drops
straight down, you have to make the brother jump over the first
leaf, and the other brother jump over the second shortly after.
Since Petey floats in the air, using the Jump attacks will be
required. Cannonballers and Trampolines are extremely useful in
bringing down the boss's HP quickly. After you cause enough
damage, Petey will sink into the ground with his teeth
overhead, making it so you can't jump anymore. Use your Hammer
attack, or Green Shells and Bro Flowers to attack. In this
stage, the boss can send a vine swinging back and forth between
the brothers; the vine first heads toward the brother whose
letter is on the block above; hammer the plant on the vine and
it'll swing to the other brother, so be ready to swat it away.
Another attack will be when Petey goes underground completely
and tries sucking you closer; jump quickly several times to
avoid that. Of course, after you cause enough damage in this
form, Petey will go back in the air. It gets annoying later in
the battle since he'll attack multiple times in the same round,
so concentrate on bringing this boss down as fast as possible.

Mrs. Thwomp
    Found: Thwomp Volcano
    Experience Points: 3200
    Coins: 0
Strategy: This giant boulder may take a while to defeat, but at least the
battle won't be too hard at all. Mrs. Thwomp also has two
phases which she will switch between after taking so much
damage. In the main phase as the giant rock, Mrs. Thwomp can
spit rocks straight ahead, which you can hit with your hammer
if they approach you. Those small rocks yield Bros. Items, so
it pays to hit them before they hit you and cause you some
damage. Another attack would be when Mrs. Thwomp jumps high in
the air, then comes crashing down to send a shock wave your
way, which can be jumped over. All attacks work well against
this boss, as well as Bros. Items (I recommend the Trampolines
here), so go wild with them. After she takes enough hits, Mrs.
Thwomp will split into 4 smaller versions. Each one will raise
one of their eyebrows (left for Mario, right for Luigi) and
then will roll over and drop onto the specified brother. Hit
them with your hammer to counter that. As you'd expect, 3 of
them are fakes and will crumble after you hit them a few times.
Clear out the fakes, then use a Trampoline or Cannonballer on
the real boss to cause real damage. An easy way of finding the
real boss is to remember what Mrs. Thwomp looks like normally,
even the details, and attack that one when she splits (all 4 of
them look different, pay attention). After this, she'll revert
back to her usual form and the cycle will continue. If
anything, this battle is more about dodging attacks while you
attack the boss, as there really aren't any hard parts to worry
              about.

Bowser/Baby Bowser
    Found: Thwomp Caverns
    Experience Points: 3280
    Coins: 350
    Item Dropped: Ultra Drop
Strategy: Starting off this fight, you'll appear to only be fighting
against the adult-sized Bowser. His attacks consist of spitting
fire at one or both brothers, which you can jump to avoid, and
jumping in the air to crash down to the ground, sending a
shockwave your way, which you can also jump over. After you
cause Bowser enough damage, Baby Bowser will start feeding him
Mushrooms, which will recover 100 HP each time. One of Baby
Bowser's moves will be to knock Bowser in shell form in the
direction of one of the brothers. Hammer the shell back at him
and he'll hit it again at the opposite brother. If you can hit
it back and forth a few times, the shell will cause Baby Bowser
some damage and will leave Bowser out of the fray for a few
rounds. Now's your chance to eliminate Baby Bowser, so use
Trampolines efficiently (these seem to cause the most damage
based on my experiences). If you can defeat the younger koopa
before Bowser returns, all the better; if not, then you'll have
to wait until he starts hitting Bowser's shell back and forth
at you for another shot at beating him. Once you beat Baby
Bowser, you'll be left with regular Bowser to fight without him
being healed every round or so. With that said, you're free to
pummel him with all your attacks while dodging Bowser's attacks
              until you win the battle.

Commander Shroob
    Found: Star Hill
    Experience Points: 3360
    Coins: 195
Strategy: This battle will put you against the commander and his 3
Support Shroobs, as well as a giant Shroob-omb they carry. You
must first dispose of the bomb and these Shroobs before you can
even attack the main boss. There is a trick to defeating the
Support Shroobs, in order to bring the commander out here. Kill
the back and middle Shroobs, then the bomb will squash the
front guy and roll back to hit the main boss. If you don't do
it this way, the bomb will roll towards you and cause damage.
The Support Shroobs will toss the bomb back and forth at you,
which you can knock back with your hammer. Another attack they
will use involves the Shroobs throwing the bomb in the air, and
then each one of them charges at you; jump to counter attack
them. When you get Commander Shroob to come out finally, it's
time to let loose with your strong attacks. Make use of the Mix
Flowers if you have any, along with Trampolines and Copy
Flowers, since they can allow for upwards of 200+ HP per shot.
The commander may call in a bunch of Shroobs which he'll spin
or throw in your direction, all of which you can knock away
with your hammer. After a while, he may call another set of
Support Shroobs and a bomb in to start the cycle anew. Deal
with them like you did before to bring the commander out again,
then continue the beatdown until you win.

Elder Shrooboid
    Found: Star Shrine
    Experience Points: 6000
    Coins: 400
    Item Dropped: Hit-Free Badge
Strategy: When you fight this red Shroob, do not use jump attacks as they
are ineffective. With that said, use Red Shells and hammer
attacks to cause damage to this creature. The Elder Shrooboid
will throw fireballs at one or both brothers, which you can
jump over. He has another move where he encases the brothers in
these bubbles hindering their jumping ability, as the boss
swings a metal ball with either a M or L on it. Jump quickly to
break out of the bubbles, then jump to avoid the metal ball
when he kicks it at the designated brother. The boss will then
slide in your direction, so jump over to avoid it. After you
cause so muh damage, a flying saucer with a countdown will
appear overhead, and the Elder Shrooboid will become giant-
sized. He'll still throw giant fireballs which you can jump
over, but in addition the flying saucer will periodically drop
a spiked ball on the brothers. Knock it back with the hammers
and it'll add another round to the saucer, plus it knocks the
boss on its face. This will allow you to jump to attack him, so
take full advantage of it and use Mix/Copy Flowers to finish
              him off.

Princess Shroob
Found: Princess Peach's Castle Statue (Past)
    Experience Points: N/A
    Coins: N/A
Strategy: The first of the last battles you'll face is against the
younger Princess Shroob. The princess starts off surrounded by
a giant forcefield, and since she's in the air you can only
attack by jumping. The quickest way of removing this barrier is
by using a Copy Flower or two, and getting enough hits in from
it. When the barrier is up, she'll have 2 laser guns which will
point in 2 possible directions before firing. Keep an eye on
where they point so you know which brother needs to jump to
avoid getting hit. When you destroy the barrier, Princess
Shroob has a couple attacks she can do to you. One will be to
send a star looping up to the top screen and then down towards
one of the brothers (which one depends on where her hand
points; just make both brothers jump to be safe), which you
must jump on to stop the attack. Another attack will involve
Princess Shroob moving directly above you in a giant pincer
like machine; jump to avoid the rings she shoots down at you,
and then have the brothers use their hammers to hit the actual
boss when she attempts to crush you. One last attack will
involve being shot at by her laser gun, which can be shot at
either brother or in a spray (jump to avoid these), or shot
from above (hit those back with your hammer to cause her
damage). After a couple rounds, Princess Shroob's barrier will
go back up, but as long as it's down, use Mix Flowers and other
useful Bros. Items to cause massive damage. Once the shield
goes back up, repeat the cycle again until you defeat her.

Princess Shroob Twin (Phase 1)
Found: Princess Peach's Castle Statue (Past)
    Experience Points: N/A
    Coins: N/A
Strategy: For this part of the battle, there will be flying saucers
floating overhead, and Princess Peach will be hiding behind the
central structure throwing stars at you every now and then.
When a star is thrown, you are given some moving crosshairs,
and when you hit the button the star will be launched in that
direction, knocking out any saucers in its way. This is the
only way to get rid of them, and it really helps since that
will stop them from healing Princess Shroob. Also, the flying
saucers can drop a spiked ball on the boss, who in turn tries
to hit you with it. Luckily, you can knock her back with the
hammer 3 times to evade this attack. The boss will also charge
at you, which means you have to block it with your hammer.
Another attack will involve a Chain Chomp being let loose
against your group; jump to avoid it. After several runarounds,
the Chain Chomp will run off, unless you can jump on it to kill
it off early. With everything you need to look out for covered,
you should make use of the Bros. Items, especially Mix Flowers,
to take down this form as quickly as possible. It'll get really
annoying when she starts recovering 120 HP from the drink one
of the flying saucers will give her, so try to counter that
with taking even more HP until the next phase of the battle
starts. Also to be noted is that every now and then, Princess
Peach will throw you a Mushroom instead of a star, so don't hit
              those away!

Princess Shroob Twin (Phase 2)
Found: Princess Peach's Castle Statue (Past)
    Experience Points: N/A
    Coins: N/A
Strategy: After you inflict enough damage on her first form, the fat twin
will become giant-sized with multiple targets. This will
include some tentacles coming from her feet, which she'll spin
around on the floor (jump over them) to attack. With her
regular tentacle arms, she will try to grab/squeeze you with
them (use the hammer to knock them back). You cannot attack the
Princess directly, so you have to follow a certain process
here. You need to first wipe out the tentacles and the feet; do
this with a quick Mix Flower, and then a couple regular attacks
to bring down the feet. You'll now be able to target the crown,
so use Copy Flowers and Trampolines to quickly disable the
crown. When this is done, you can really attack the main target
with your best jump attacks and Bros. Items. After each round
though, Princess Shroob will send a few flying saucers in the
air, only to shoot them down. Pay attention though; the ones on
fire will fall to Mario and the electrified ones will hit
Luigi, so use your hammers to knock them at the boss to counter
attack. After a few rounds, the tentacles and eventually the
foot will regrow and stab at you to attack, so be ready to jump
over those. Princess Shroob has this devastating attack where
she shoots an energy ball overhead, which comes crashing down
on one of the brothers (watch when the energy ball is being
formed with red/green balls; the color most used will be the
brother who gets hit). To deal with this boss, you have to be
able to kill off the tentacles and crown to make the main
target vulnerable quickly, and to attack strongly when you're
able to. Make use of the Bros. Items to inflict massive damage
quickly (Mix Flowers are your best friend here). All of this
will obviously take a while, so keep everyone alive and
healthy, while constantly beating down the boss, and you'll
              eventually have it won.

===========
Bros. Items
===========

Bro Flower
Use: Shoot fireballs rapidly to attack all the enemies. Tap the button of
the brother holding the fireball repeatedly to shoot (you will have
to alternate as the fireball goes back and forth).

Cannonballer
Use: Everyone will shoot up in the air and fall upon a single enemy one
at a time. Press the corresponding brother's button as they land to
         cause damage.

Copy Flower
Use: All the brothers are made into multiple copies, then they all run in
a constant stream to jump and attack the enemy. The brothers that
appear are totally random, and move quicker as you go on, so as long
as you keep up by pressing the right buttons as they impact the
enemy, the chain continues. If the selected enemy is killed with
this attack, you will automatically target another one.

Green Shell
Use: Kick back and forth between the brothers to cause damage to a single
enemy. If you have the babies with you, for added damage, press the
baby's button upon the shell's impact with the enemy.

Ice Flower
Use: Shoot ice balls rapidly to attack all the enemies. Tap the button of
the brother holding the fireball repeatedly to shoot (you will have
to alternate as the fireball goes back and forth). This may cause
some status down effects on the enemies, too.

Mix Flower
Use: The most powerful Bros. Item you can have in this game. All 4
brothers surround the enemies, with a red fireball moving between
each of them at random. For the brother currently holding the
fireball, you must press their button rapidly to build up the giant
fireball on the top screen. After several seconds of this, that
giant fireball will fall upon the enemies to cause massive damage.
Of course, the more shots you get in, the more powerful the blast
         will be.

Pocket Chomp
Use: A Chain Chomp is thrown into the area, which chases you back and
forth. When the brother appears onscreen and jumps, press his
designated button upon impact to cause damage to the enemy. If you
have the babies with you as well, one will ride atop the Chain
Chomp, and if you press their button they will swing their hammer to
further attack the enemy as they pass. The enemy targeted with each
pass will be random, so be prepared for a sudden change in target.

Red Shell
Use: Just like the Green Shell, you kick this back and forth between the
brothers to attack the enemies. The difference here is that once you
deal the deathblow to a given enemy, the shell targets the next
enemy and the attack continues until you miss kicking it.

Smash Egg
Use: Kick an egg at the enemies to make them dizzy. Press the button of
the character the egg is moving towards to kick the egg at the enemy
         again.

Trampoline
Use: Both the babies and adults will jump high in the air, then one at a
time will fall onto the enemy. In order to keep the chain going, you
must hit the designated brother's button as they hit the enemy.
After a couple of mistakes, the trampoline will disappear and the
remaining brothers will fall from above for a last chance at
         attacking the enemy.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

As of this version, the file contains all the information I know to date. If
it is a work in progress, give me time before bombarding me with emails about
things being missing. All I ask is that you READ THE FAQ before emailing me,
since that's what it's here for! Don't waste my time (and yours) by asking me
for information obviously covered in the guide. If it's in reference to a
side quest or item, chances are they can be found in another section besides
the walkthrough, so check the appendices as well.

If you have any questions, comments, or things to add that are not already in
this FAQ, feel free to email me. I usually do post submissions, credit given
of course, so long as I feel they are relevant to the game in question. My
email address is: dbmfaqs(at)gmail.com. Thanks for reading, and be sure to
check out the rest of my work at this URL:
