How do I get to the Tower of Babil?

In the FAQ/walkthroughs, they state to walk west, then north. The west of Dwarven Castle is blocked by a sideways U shaped piece of rock, and if I go straight north, I dead end at all places, but complete 35-40% of the right side of the underworld map.

Help, please.

I can't go west--that's the problem. I'm blocked by this: http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/412/img0599km0.jpg, and I can't get around it.

"West, then North" is correct. If you find that a mountain is blocking your path, backtrack and/or go around it.

Head West until the land mass makes an obvious 90 degree turn to the north. Follow he path north until you run into a mountain, then go east a bit until you reach the path leading north again. You should see the base of the tower and the dwarven tanks at this point.
