Intro

Welcome to my second in-depth FAQ for Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. This one is on the subject of the Pal Park, which allows you to get GBA Pokémon. Enjoy.

Unlocking Pal Park

To unlock Pal Park, you must first see all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. (The toughest is the D/P opposite-legend. Go to the big house in Celestic Town and read the book.)S

Afterwards, head to Sandgem Town and Surf south, then east, along the route. At the end of the route is a building, the Pal Park. Enter it and then it all is explained.

NOTE:

You'll need a Pokémon Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen GBA game and a Nintendo DS/DS Lite.

Again, NOTE:

You WILL need a Nintendo DS/DS Lite (no DSi/DSi XL/3DS) to do this. You'll also need a GBA Pokémon game.

Once in Pal Park, save the game. Turn off the DS and start up the GBA Pokémon game. In that Pokémon game, put the six Pokémon you want on the D/P/Pt game card into the PC. Save the GBA and turn the DS off. Start up the D/P/Pt game.

At the main menu, select the option "MIGRATE FROM ______", the blank being the GBA Pokémon game. Select this option and select the six Pokémon to be put on the D/P/Pt game card. Once you do, confirm this selection and both games will be saved. Start up your saved file.

On the D/P/Pt game, talk to the man blocking the way in the Pal Park. Start a Catching Game. You will now move around the area, shown in later sections, to find the Pokémon you had migrated. Note that one of your Pokémon may need to know Surf to get on the Pond and/or Ocean areas. In the next section, I will list the Pokémon locations.

Pokémon Locations

Here are the five Pal Park areas:

  • Field: Grassy area in the southwest.
  • Forest: Treed in area in the northwest.
  • Pond: Water in the northeastern area.
  • Mountain: Eastern area sandwiched between Pond and Ocean.
  • Ocean: Southeastern dark-blue aquatic area.

Infinite Daily Imports

If you migrate six Pokémon and then start a new file on the GBA, and get six more Pokémon in the PC, you can import even more Pokémon.

Infinite Daily Imports (2)

Despite the game having settings in place to restrict the amount of Pokémon migrated in a single day, these restrictions can be avoided and an infinite number of Pokémon transferred into Generation IV. If, once a Catching Show has been completed, the player turns off the game system and changes the date on the Nintendo DS to show one day later, and inserts a second Generation III game, he or she will be instructed to reset the time on the DS. This will prevent migration from the second game, but allow the original game that has already had six Pokémon transferred to send Pokémon into Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. Also, one can set the DS's clock to the time displayed in the GBA cartridge before choosing the Pal Park option to avoid the 24 hour period of waiting before transferring their Pokémon.
