    Section 03 - Controls                                                    [CTRL]
    
    Point and click. That's it. When you see a hand, that means you can move. A
    hand holding a wrench indicates an action can be taken. A hand holding a 
    magnifying glass indicates that you can examine something. The game allows 360 
    degree rotation by moving the mouse around. Try not to get motion sickness.

    Section 04 - Level One                                                   [LVL1]
    
    The game begins with a cutscene. (Get used to the bad voice acting; it's there
    through the entire game.) Once Holmes enters the mansion, the game begins.
    
    [FOYER]
    Examine the sarcophagi. Note the dates of the eras.
    
    The door to the next room is locked, so we should look for the key.
    
    There are two lions at the entrance, one on each side of the door. Examine the
    one on the left (when you're facing the door). A secret panel pops open.

    Go over to the stairs and get the key.
    
    Walk over to the door and unlock it. Before entering into the next room, turn
    around and look in the potted plant. You should find a seal of Anubis.
    
    Now enter the next room.
    
    
    [KHAEPASETH MUMMY ROOM]
    Turn to your left and walk towards the door.
    
    Take the seal of Thot from behind the statue.
    
    Move over to the mummy of Khaepaseth.
    
    Look straight down and you will see a toolbox. Open it.
    
    Grab the oil can, hammer, and screwdriver.
    
    Walk to the door that was to your right when you entered the room.
    
    Turn to your right and grab the tie pin from under the stool.
    
    Go through the doors on your left (the ones you're right next to).
    
    
    [AMENOPHIS STATUE ROOM]
    Walk up to the statue of Amenophis and turn left. Take the seal of Selket,
    located on the floor betweeen the statue of the dog and the display case.
    
    Walk towards the doors and take the bandage from the one in front of you.
    
    Go back to the Khaepaseth Mummy Room.
    
    
    [KHAEPASETH MUMMY ROOM]
    Go straight and walk through the doors in front of you.
    
    
    [EGYPTIAN GODS ROOM]
    At the far end of the room is a really big rock with heiroglyphics on it. Walk
    over to it and take the seal of Bes from behind it.
    
    Behind you are sarcophagi. Walk over to them.
    
    The one right in front of you slides over. Move it to reveal a locked storage
    space. The lock is old, so you could just break it... 
    
    Use the screwdriver to break the lock.
    
    Open the compartment and take the key.
    
    Oil the lock of the door that is to the right of the big rock.
    
    Use the key to unlock the door. Enter the room.
    
    
    [DUSTY ROOM]
    Ooh, a mirror! Let's have a look, shall we? Hey look, a mummy. Anyway...
    
    To the right of the mirror (your right when you're facing the mirror) are some
    boxes. Walk over to them.
    
    Use the hammer on the box closest to you.
    
    Take the big gear, medium gear, small gear, seal of Nout, and the wood from
    the top.
    
    Walk over to the cupboard and use the tie pin to pick the lock.
    
    Take the whiskey bottle and leave the room.
    
    
    [EGYPTIAN GODS ROOM]
    Leave the room.
    
    
    [KHAEPASETH MUMMY ROOM]
    Head to the room with the Statue of Amenophis.
    
    
    [AMENOPHIS STATUE ROOM]
    The door on the left and the end of the room has four seals on it. We have five
    seals. Time to solve another puzzle...

    Enter the next room.
    
    
    [STUDY]
    To your right is a desk with a telephone on it. Go over to it.
    
    Take the newspaper and the magazine.
    
    Now walk over to the other desk.
    
    Take the matches from on top of the books and use them on the candle.
    
    Go over to the heater.
    
    There's a weird box with gears on it next to the heater, but it's missing a few
    gears. Put the big gear, middle gear, and small gear on the box to finish the
    chain.
    
    Open the heater and put in the newspaper, wood, and whiskey. Light the heater
    and watch the cutscene.

    Section 05 - Level Two                                                   [LVL2]
    
    Directly to your right behind a column is a big blue history book. Grab it.
    Notice how some bookcases have all one color book? We'll be using those for
    this next puzzle.

    GET BLUE BOOK.
    
    GO UPSTAIRS.
    
    REPLACE BLUE BOOK WITH GREEN BOOK (2nd shelf from bottom, far right side)

    GO DOWNSTAIRS.
    
    REPLACE RED BOOK WITH GRAY BOOK (2nd shelf from bottom, far right side)
    
    REPLACE GRAY BOOK WITH BLACK BOOK (2nd shelf from bottom, 4th from left)
    
    GO UPSTAIRS.

    Key in hand, head back up the stairs and unlock the door to your left.
    
    Enter the hallway.
    
    
    [HALLWAY]
    Walk straight through the doors in front of you.
    
    
    [LIVING ROOM]
    You're facing some doors. Why? I don't know. Sherlock seems to have walked into
    the room backwards... no matter. Turn to your left and examine the glass case.
    
    Momphis XI has gone missing... and left some sand in his place.
    
    Move over to the sofa and read the letter under the table.
    
    Move over to the picture of the tree and turn to the desk to the left of it.
    
    In the cabinet under the desk there is a pipe cleaner. Grab it.
    
    Leave the room.
    
    
    [HALLWAY]
    Go down the hall and enter the first door on your right.
    
    
    [STUDY]
    Turn left and grab the book from under the dresser. It's a fake register!
    
    Walk forward and... hey, why is there a fire lit? I thought this place was
    supposed to be deserted...
    
    Look out the window. What the...? There's a man jumping around on the roof!
    
    Turn around and take the letter of resignation from the desk. So everyone has
    resigned? Then who let us in...?
    
    Leave the room.
    
    
    [HALLWAY]
    Look down and to your right. You should see something shiny. Pick it up.
    It's a fork!
    
    Go back into the study.
    
    
    [STUDY]
    Walk over to the painting of the safari that's hanging above the fireplace.
    
    Examine the painting.
    
    In the bottom center of the painting, there is a small black splotch. It's
    actually a crack.
    
    Use the fork on the crack to reveal a hiidden area!
    
    Take the real register and the cane.
    
    Leave the room again.
    
    
    [HALLWAY]
    Take a right and enter the door on your right.
    
    
    [BATHROOM]
    Walk over to the sink and grab the soap.
    
    Turn to your left and... there's water in the bathtub. Investigate.
    
    The water is still warm! We shouldn't leave water lying around and nobody's
    using it now, so let's pull the plug. Look in the bottom of the tub.
    
    There's sand there. No doubt the same sand from the living room... let's leave.
    
    Leave the room.
    
    
    [HALLWAY]
    Take a left and head to the Living Room.
    
    
    [LIVING ROOM]
    Walk over to the Lion head and use the cane on it.
    
    Take the package.
    
    Open the inventory and click the package to unwrap it. You now have four oddly
    shaped pieces and a ribbon.
    
    Turn to your right and go over to the lavender drapes. Pull them back to reveal
    a locked door.
    
    Place the fake register under the door.
    
    Use the soap on the lock.
    
    Use the pipe cleaner on the lock.
    
    Take the key and unlock the door. Enter.
    
    
    [BEDROOM]
    Very Egypt-y. Go over to the bed. There will be a desk with an incomplete
    puzzle on top of it. Fit the wooden pieces in starting on the left and work
    clockwise.

    OPEN THE DRAWER.

    Take the letters from the drawer.
    
    Turn around and walk one step forwards. You should now be next to an Egyptian
    picture and Lord Montcalfe's hat. The hat is not important, but the picture is.

    POKE THE BIG EYE.
    POKE THE WOMAN WITH THE ANKH.
    POKE THE CAT.
    POKE THE MAN WITH THE STAFF.

    Take the scepter.
    
    Look up at the fan. There's something on its blade.
    
    Ignoring all common sense, you can't use the scepter to get the object on the
    blade. However, you CAN turn the fan on...
    
    Use the scepter on the white button on the fan.
    
    Oh no, the jar that was on the fan blade broke! Go investigate.
    
    Get the scarab beetle from the floor.
    
    Leave the room and go back into the hallway.
    
    
    [HALLWAY]
    Go to the Study.
    
    
    [STUDY]
    Walk up to the desk and click on the left side (with the white circles on it).
    It will swing open.
    
    Use the scarab beetle on the wheel closest to you, then turn the T-bar.
    
    Click to reveal another hidden area!
    
    Read the two letters and try to get the last item, which Sherlock doesn't want
    because he is not familiar with it.
    
    Turn to your left and walk to the hallway door, but do not leave yet.
    
    To the right of the door is a small box. Click on it.
    
    Ah, an infamous sliding puzzle! The easiest way to do this is to break the
    puzzle in half and do half at a time. I will do the top half then the bottom
    half.
    
    NOTE: for this puzzle, I am going to use the following numbers:

    09 10 11 12
    13 14 15 16
    The numbers correspond to the spaces where the boxes go, not the boxes
    themselves. For example, at the start, clicking on 12 will move the box to 16.
    Clicking on 12 a second time will do nothing because there is no box there.

    originally, and it's better than the other walkthrough I read that said "Do
    it on your own. :)"
    
    Get the key.

    Use the key on the cupboard.
    
    Get the fake scepter.
    
    Leave the room.

    Go over to the "not ancient" statue.
    
    Use the scepter and the fake scepter on the statue.
    
    Click the statue and watch the cutscene.

    [WINE CELLAR]
    To your right is a wine rack, seven squares wide and five squares high. We'll
    call that "Rack A." Next to Rack A is another rack, four squares wide and five
    squares high. We'll call that "Rack B".
    
    The squares of Rack A will be numbered

    Get the stick from the top-right corner of A27.
    
    Grab the bottle of Spain Vine from the middle of A28.
    
    Walk forward along the rack one step and grab the bottle of Bourgogne from the
    middle of A11.
    
    Directly two shelves to the left of that at A09 is a bottle of Touraine. Grab
    it.
    
    Turn left. On the top right shelf there is a bottle of Bordeaux at the middle
    of B4. Grab it.
    
    Walk forward one more step along the rack.
    
    Turn left and walk one more step.
    
    On the far left shelf, second from top (at eye level) is a bunch of Liqueur.
    Grab a bottle and you'll also get a bottle of Gin that was hidden among them.
    
    Go over to the table that is to the left of the door you entered.
    
    Grab the matches and water flask from the table (the water flask is to the
    right of the plate, next to the brown round thing).
    
    Look down and you'll see another stick next to the stool.
    
    Walk between the kegs (I mean WINE CASKS... yeah... >.>) and grab the hammer
    from between the two on the bottom on the far right that are against the wall.
    
    Go back to the table and lift the matress.
    
    Use the hammer to bash open the trapdoor.
    
    Grab the statue.
    
    Go over to the board with holes.
    
    On the side of the board facing the wine rack, there is an empty bottle halfway
    down on the right side. Grab it.
    
    Walk over to either side of the board and look inside. Grab the rag.
    
    Go to the other side and grab the other rag.
    
    Go back to the shelf where you took all of the Liqueur.
    
    SAVE YOUR GAME.
    
    Place the Bordeaux on the shelf, then the Bourgogne, then the Touraine, then
    the Spain Vine, then the Liqueur.
    
    The shelf will descend and another puzzle will pop up.
    
    IT'S ANOTHER SLIDING PUZZLE! YAY!
    
    NOTE: This one's only 3x3. I'll be using the numbers

    Use the rag on the stick, then use the gin on the stick, then use the matches
    on the stick. You now have a torch!
    
    Walk over to the kegs and use the torch on the wall next to the kegs.
    
    
    [LAB]
    Walk over to the center table and examine everything.
    
    Walk to the table against the far wall and read all the notes.
    
    Grab the chair and place it to the left of the desk.
    
    You need two keys to open the drawer...
    
    Walk over to the door to your right. Look down and take the sand.
    
    Go over to the table with the green gunk and the test tubes on it. Read the
    notes, then walk toward the cupboard.
    
    Look down and to your left and you should see a key in a box. Take it.
    
    Walk over to the door.
    
    Next to the cupboard and the door is a small pot. Break the pot with the
    hammer.
    
    Take the key.
    
    Turn right and walk forward.
    
    Look under the center table and grab the oil flask.
    
    Go over to the desk and stand on the chair to get a third key.
    
    SAVE YOUR GAME.
    
    Examine the drawer.

    PLACE THE YELLOW KEY WITH THE "G" IN THE RIGHT LOCK.
    PLACE THE YELLOW KEY WITH THE "C" IN THE LEFT LOCK.

    Incidentally, if you mess up, the drawer explodes and you die.
    
    Use the oil flask on the door to the left of the drawer.
    
    Use the last key on the door to the left of the drawer.
    
    
    [STORAGE ROOM]
    You should be able to see a really tiny speck of orange. Walk towards it and
    take it... it's an oil lamp!
    
    Go back to the door and turn right so that your back is to the tattered cloth.
    
    Walk along the shelving until you see an oil flask behind another big rock with
    heiroglyphics.
    
    Use the oil flask on the oil lamp.
    
    Note the urns that are decorated with cobras. If you've ever seen The Fifth
    Element, you're about to reinact the scene where they save the world using 
    the elements and the stones.
    
    For those of you who haven't seen The Fifth Element, I just spoiled the second
    coolest scene in the movie (the first being the shootout). Sorry... >.>
    
    Anyway, the urns are arranged like this:

    PLACE THE SAND IN THE TRIANGLE URN.
    PLACE THE MATCHES IN THE FLAME URN.

    Grab the statuette of Anubis from under the flame urn.
    
    Leave the room.

    Enter the door to the right of the desk.
    
    
    [ROTATING ROOM]
    Click in the center of the room until you can reach two of the statues.
    
    Click on the statues and then click in the center of the room until you get to
    the other side.
    
    Click on those statues. Once you have reached all four statues, a panel will 
    pop open, revealing yet another Anubis statuette.
    
    Click towards the center of the room until you actually are at the center of
    the room. Then click between the two statues that are parallel to the door you
    came through (they'd be to your left when you entered the room).
    
    Turn around and read the gold plate.
    
      It is better than God
    It is worse than the Devil
         Poors get plenty
           Rich need it
        If we eat it we die
           What is it?
    
    The answer, of course, is "nothing."
    
    Leave the room.
    
    
    [LAB]
    Enter the Storage Room.
    
    
    [STORAGE ROOM]
    Use the Brahman seal on the middle urn (the one with "nothing" on it).
    
    Leave the room.
    
    
    [LAB]
    SAVE YOUR GAME!
    
    Go back to the Rotating Room.
    
    
    [ROTATING ROOM]
    Make your way back to the door with the gold plate and go in.
    
    
    [DUSTY EGYPTIAN ROOM]
    Walk over to the big tub of water to your left.
    
    Click on the tub and two vials wil appear on your screen - one that can hold
    5 units and one that can hold 3 units. Guess what you get to do? Get 4 units!
    Die Hard 3, anyone?
    
    NOTE: click on the vials to put the buckets down. To empty a bucket, click on
    the crack between the tub and the scale.

    Click on the knob of the barrel that is directly behind you (the one that fell
    over).
    
    Use the bag to collect the gunpowder (after you remove the note from the bag).
    
    Walk up to the table and grab the lantern.
    
    Turn around and take the paint brush from the top of the keg closest to the
    thing that looks like a closed-up doorway.
    
    Walk over to the huge mess of broken wine bottles and take one of the bottles.
    Shame about all that wine... *sob*
    
    Turn around and face the brick wall that used to be a door.
    
    Examine the door.
    
    Use the paintbrush on the keystone (the big one on the top) to reveal the
    number 3. Time to get out of here.

    Go halfway up the stairs and use the lantern on the unlit space to the right of

    It is called (according to my logic puzzle magazines) "logic art"  the numbers 
    tell how many of the spaces and how many in a row/column  are filled in.  for 
    example:  if the number next to a row is 25,  then there will be one long row 
    of 25 squares filled in.  if there are two or more numbers like 13, 4, 4,  then
    there will be one string of 13 in a row and two more of 4 and 4 always with at
    least one unfilled square in between them.
     
    the strategy to this game is to work logically from what you know to what you 
    don't know.
    tatoeba: if there are 25 squares in a row and the number on the side of the row
     is 20.
    first count from the beginning of the row till you reach there twentieth 
    square.  that is the limit that it could be to the left.   then do the same 
    from the right.  all the overlap squares definitely have to be filled in.  In 
    this case we would have 15 squares in the middle filled in.  from there we can
    look at a column and use one of those filled in squares to extrapolate some of 
    what can and can not be true. again, if the columns have 25 squares apiece and 
    the only number is 8, then the filled-in squares cannot stray more than seven 
    from that one we already filled in.   and so forth.

    very dangerous to disturb the rest of
    the dead Pharaohs as a spell will be cast

    against such a spell. However, the
    power of the spell is often limited by
    the power of the priest who cast that
    spell.
        Some legends tell us about desecra-
    tors that were haunted by nightmares or
    by ghosts of dead people from the
    tomb. Usually they died very soon
    after.

    under the bandages of Khaepaseth mummy and the guilty
    one on the crime place, probably pillaging his uncle's
    collection...
    
    
    Letter 31: Newspaper
    Unsolved case
    Scotland Yard has announced that they found a statue,
    which was stolen during a reception at the Egyptian
    embassy. Everyone remembers that during the attack,
    a servant was killed. Moreover the statur, a gift from
    Lord Montcalfe, was not valuable. Sir Jonathan Parkey
    was first accused, according to the description
    provided by the dying servant. He provided three
    witnesses that confirmed, he was playing bridge whilst
    the crime was being committed.
    The mystery stays unresolved for now.

    Section 10 - Summary                                                     [RATE]
    
    Perhaps "Summary" is the wrong word for this section, but "Rating" seemed a bit
    misleading even though that's what this really is. "Impressions" would also be
    appropriate and misleading. In any case, I will be rating the various aspects 
    of the game on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being perfect and 1 being absolute junk. 
    For ease of rating, I will only be using whole numbers.
    
    Story - 8/10
       Ancient Egypt is always interesting.
       
    Controls - 4/10
       Movement was horrendous. Just trying to get across a room was a pixel hunt
       and the camera turned too quickly. The environment needed to be more
       interactive.
    
    Voice Acting - 2/10
       Laughable at best. Accents were terrible and Holmes' voice was annoying at
       times.
    
    Sound - 9/10
       Sound did everything it was supposed to, but didn't really rise above
       expectations. Small glitch during the last cutscene, but I think that was
       my disc, not the game itself.
    
    Difficulty - 10/10
       The game could have used more direction. Several times, I was stuck simply
       because I had no idea what to do next. The puzzles were challenging, but
       not impossible.
    
    Cutscenes - 7/10
       Except for the beginning and the ending, the cutscenes were rather
       unnecessary.
    
    Tiny Unimportant Details - 1/10
       Despite taking place in 19th century London, the characters did not have
       British accents, the American spelling of words was used, and the last
       four items in the real register were "found" in 1998, 100 years after the
       game takes place!
       
    Overall - 5/10
       General Opinion: meh :-/ Should have borrowed it from a friend.
