Being a point-and-click with little way to lose progress, there's not much to
give in the way of sweet tips. If a reader has any good ones, drop 'em in my
lap and they may just end up here. <3
LIGHT IT UP! While smoking can give you throat cancer in reality, it's just
a good way to unwind in-game, and Jake will muse about what he knows up to
that point -- in short, he muses aloud for the player to get hints. If yer
ever at an impasse, and that's unlikely since the game's rather linear, one
flick of the lighter should provide a moment of clarity.
SAVE OCCASIONALLY! This isn't as important for the main Jake Hunter stories
since it's impossible to "die" in them, no matter which options are chosen,
but in the Jake Hunter Unleashed missions, failing a deduction will result
in a game over. They're awfully short so this may not be too annoying, but
it sure comes in handy on the really annoying ones like "Picture Perfect"!

Did you find the longer cases a bit dry, with too much running around and
menus? Well this should cure your doldrums. JHU is a series of short cases
with a decidedly funnier approach (as you can see by the art), so it's a lot
easier to get invested in.
Now, before the "Deduce" option should be picked, the crime scene and all
the suspects have to be interviewed. Since the interview part is all the same
questions, that part's omitted from below. If Jake says he needs to do more
inspecting, make sure to cover all the talk/inspect options!
NOTE: Unlike the other missions, if you fail the deduction part the first time
through, it's game over. Thus, save before doing that portion for time's
sake. Yulia's reaction to Jake's deductions can be used to gauge if he's
going in the right direction, for reference.
NOTE: Beating a mission will often let the player do new things a 2nd time
around, except the last one, it seems. Check out all five! (Oh man, I
feel like a pokemon collector...)

After trying to pass this off on Yulia, Jake has to investigate. Tee-hee...
When investigating, make sure to check the main entrance (where the shoes are)
and outside, where the broken glass is.

09) Picture Perfect [WK09]

Yulia screws up the pictures' order with her rocket punch (haha) and has to
put them back together. Examining the picture clues one into the time of day
Jake shot them at, seven in all. To do this right, pick the order (i.e. 4th)
and then the picture that goes in that slot. If y'screw up, pick 'Reorder
Pics' and change them all back to default. The correct order is:

If Yulia puts the pictures together right the first time, Jake will find the
8th picture ("H") in his pocket and ask Yulia to place it correctly. However
the new picture shows that Yulia misinterpreted the order before, and has to
do it again. And in case there's randomization to the ordering, here's the
listing without letter tags:

You can gauge how close you are to the real solution by how Jake laughs at
Yulia -- he'll point out specifically if 1 or 3 are out of place.
10) Behind Closed Doors [WK10]

Unlike the previous mission, this one returns to the other formula of looking
at all the angles (interrogations, scene inspections, etc.) and then deducing
the solution. The menial inspections are again omitted; just remember to do
them in their entirety.

The sixth and final JHU file opens after completing the other five. It'll
involve "the gang" trying to catch a thief in a fancy-schmancy hotel. Jake
can pick his partner to stake out the rooms while the remaining allies will
stake out the emergency staircase.
NOTE: There appears to be a glitch, where if one chooses Yulia as Jake's
partner, the mission can't be finished -- the option to 'Deduce' can't be
selected even after all info's collected. To be on the safe side, choose
someone else. [Although, I've tried it with Sam and still been unable to go
forth, so maybe this mission's not as bug-tested as the others...?]

After investigating, make sure to create the timeline! There's a lot of
snooping to do: all of the suspects rooms, 1F, the hallway, crime scene,
stakeout spot, etc, plus testimonies from all suspects and the two partners
in the stairway. Remember to do it all in an orderly fashion or y'may end
up forgetting something! [To avoid having to re-search places again for more
clues, get everyone's alibis first! You won't regret it.]

it will create a letter on the phone pad.

The code here shows a piece of paper with a gibberish letter sequence and a
number assigned to that row. For instance, the first line is "rmlgefr" and a
"2" is next to it. To find the correct word, move each letter 2 spaces forward
from their space in the alphabet.

Yulia's quest for choco donuts goes awry when the stand is pilfered. The
clue left behind is:
"The wayward monk's Cailour tome flapped brazenly like art imitating life.
Arbusta proclaimed 'I am a knight! For I am virtuous and true!'
The two were in love, a gold ring sparkling on her finger.
Fluttering superficially the butterfly's wings glow with a gallery of color.
Tonight the rays of the moon beam down upon the mossy statue."
The other note has times, being 1:20, 4:10, 9:10, 9:40, 2:30, 4:20, 1:50,
7:30, and 12:50. To solve, imagine charting the paragraph as if it were a
clock, with each the first number (1:xx) representing which word is used and
the second (xx:20) indicating which line is used. Thus, the answer to 1:20
would be "The" and 4:10 would be "am"

Yulia's chocoholism continues with a special cocoa. This time, there's a lot
of roman numerals to solve. Each number stands for a letter in the alphabet,
so the first one of "I" stands for 1, and the first letter is "A".

After an explosive creampuff fiasco, Yulia has another code to solve, saying:

The clue is "downward stairs". This one's a bit harder than the others as it
has to do with rearranging the letters into, what else, a staircase-shaped
formation. It should look like this:

As you can see, by reading the last letter in each line, it says "Eleven PM."
Doing this same method with each interior line will spell the rest of the code
out as well! Some lines will spill over, so making one string of them may
help.

The 'Password' feature will allow one to unlock bonuses. Passwords can be
found in-game, and are usually said as non sequiturs or by inspecting some
useless thing (such as a computer post-it note). There are twenty in all.
The only way to play the JHU bonuses is through this feature! Also, once
unlocked, there's no way to unring the proverbial bell.

[Q] - I can't 'Deduce' in Jake Hunter Unleashed #06!
[A] - Out of all the JHU episodes, this one seems to be glitchiest. If you're
sure you've done all the investigations (and there are a lot), it may
be a partner glitch. Taking Yulia as Jake's partner seems to affect the
Deduce option, but I tried doing it with Sam and it still happened. Try
Kingsley...that may work.
[Q] - How do I find codes?
[A] - Codes are often spoken/written in-game as non sequiturs or through
extraneous inspection, such as looking at articles that have nothing to
do with the case. A few are mandatory, such as one in 'The Red-Eyed
Tiger' so keep yer eyes peeled.
