     [I0] INTRODUCTION
    ===============================================================================
    
    Dragon Quest Monsters is a spinoff series that was inspired by the ability to
    capture and raise monsters in Dragon Quest V.  Joker 2 is the fifth instalment
    of the Monsters series.
    
    If you've played other Dragon Quest games, then many of the monsters and skills
    will already be familiar to you.  If not, then don't worry!  DQMJ2 is a fairly 
    easy RPG with a low learning curve, so you'll get the hang of it in no time.

     [I2] MONSTERS
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    There are a little 311 types of monsters in this game, all with their own 
    unique characteristics.  Here are some things you should know about monsters.
    
    --- GENERAL ---
    
    Family:  There are seven families of monsters: slime, dragon, nature, beast,
             material, demon, and undead.  This comes into consideration during 
             synthesis.  Some special monsters don't belong to a specific family.
    
    Rank:    A general measure of how good a monster is.  Possible ranks are 
             F, E, D, C, B, A, S, X.
           
    Value:   A hidden number that is unique to each type of monster (1 to 311).
             This comes into consideration during synthesis.
    
    Size:    How many slots a monster takes up.  You have three slots on your 
             active bench, and three slots on your substitute bench.  Monster 
             sizes can be Small (1 slot), Medium (2 slots), or Large (3 slots).
    
    --- INDIVIDUAL ---
    
    Level, HP, MP, Attack, Defence, Agility, Wisdom:  A monster's vital stats, 
             just like in a typical RPG.  Stats can be increased by leveling up 
             or by consuming seeds.
    
    Synthesis count:  A tally of how many syntheses were done to create a monster.
             On the status screen, this is shown next to rank.  If you synthesize
             a +2 monster and a +3 monster, the result will be a +5 monster.
             The level cap for +0 to +4 monsters is level 50.
             The level cap for +5 to +9 monsters is level 75.
             The level cap for >+10 monsters is level 100.
    
    Charge:  Positive, negative, or neutral.  On the status screen, this is shown
             next to rank.  This comes into consideration during synthesis.
    
    Traits:  These are passive characteristics.  Most traits are innate to 
             the type of monster and cannot be inherited via synthesis, but 
             some traits can be learned from skillsets.
    
    Skillsets:  This is where most of the customization is done.
             These contain active spells and abilities, as well as passive 
             stat boosts and traits.  Skillsets can be innate to the type 
             of monster, inherited via synthesis, learned via synthesis, or
             learned from books.
    
    
    ===============================================================================
     [I3] BATTLING
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    The game features a pretty straightforward turn-based battle system.
    
    What's important to know is that buff, debuffing, and psyching up are key 
    aspects of the battle system.  You should become familiar with these spells.
    
    Oomph: increase attack            Sag: decrease attack
    Buff: increase defence            Sap: decrease defence
    Accelerate: increase agility      Decelerate: decrease agility
    Ping: increase wisdom             Dim: decrease wisdom
    
    Insulate: increase resistance to fire/ice breath attacks
    Magic barrier: increase resistance to magic spells
    
    There are also attack abilities that can cause these stat changes.
    
    Psyching up increases a monster's tension, which will increase its stats by
    a certain percentage.  There are five levels of tension: 0, 5, 25, 50, 100.
    There's a 50% chance each time of actually reaching 100.
    
    
    ===============================================================================
     [I4] SCOUTING
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    A scouting attempt basically consists of each of your monsters launching a 
    normal attack against the enemy monster.  The amount of damage done is related 
    to the percentage of success.
    
    So anything that increases the damage done by normal attacks will help, namely 
    psyche up, oomphle, and sap.  It is also possible to get critical hits when
    scouting.
    
    Percentage of success can also be increased by using the beastie bites item, 
    and by a few rare monster traits.
    
    Percentage of success is lower if you already have a monster of the same type
    in your party or in your pen.
    
    
    ===============================================================================
     [I5] SYNTHESIS
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    Synthesis is the process of combining two monsters (parents) to create one
    new and better monster (child).
    
    First of all, the parents must be level 10 or higher, and must have different 
    charges (positive, negative, neutral).
    
    After selecting the parents, normally three possible children are displayed.
    
    1.  Family is same as 1st parent,
        Value is at least one higher than the more valuable parent
    
    2.  Family is same as 2nd parent,
        Value is at least one higher than the more valuable parent
    
    3a. Family is different from either parent (see table below)
        Value is at least one higher than the less valuable parent
    
    3b. Result of a special synthesis
    
    After selecting the child, you get to pick the skillsets it'll have.
    The child can inherit skillsets and learn new skillsets from its parents. 
    Skillsets that are innate to child's monster type will also be available.
    
    If you choose to inherit a skillset, then one half of the parents' skill 
    points in that skillset will be inherited too.  And one quarter of the
    parents' unused skill points will carry over.
    
    The child will start at level 1, but its stats will be one quarter of the 
    sum of its parents' stats.

     [W0] WALKTHROUGH
    ===============================================================================
    
    In this walkthrough I've noted the locations of important things, like red 
    chests (one time only), scout's stones, healing stones, and zip portals; 
    but not the locations of things that respawn infinitely, like blue chests, 
    leafs, minerals, and fossils (in Cragavation).
    
    So you should take some time to explore the regions.  I've only described how
    to progress through the game.
    
    Whenever you see something like (E,12) before a monster, that is the rank and
    level of the monster.
    
    
    ===============================================================================
     [W1] ALBATROSS
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    After the opening scenes, you'll find yourself hiding in a cargo box aboard
    the Albatross.  Press the A button to hop out, and then try to head upstairs.  
    You'll be forced to return to the box.
    
    Oh no you've been exposed! Your first task as rookie deckhand is to introduce
    yourself to everyone.  Lily, Melonie, and Eugene are on the main deck.  Archie
    is in the cargo hold.  Rory is in the engine room.  Once you're done, return
    to Captain Mayday on the bridge.
    
    Something goes wrong, so you'll have to head back down to talk to Rory,
    then head back up to talk to Captain Mayday.  Aaaand we're gonna crash!
    
    When you regain consciousness, you'll find yourself in a small outdoor area.
    Make your way towards the Albatross, climb up some vines, and head inside to
    check out the damage.  When you exit back outside, you'll meet up with Rory.
    
    Rory will allow you to take the last remaining monster in the pen.  Use the 
    computer to transfer that monster into your active party.  He'll also unlock 
    his red chest for you (it's in the engine room and contains a cypress staff).
    
    There are six possible starter monsters: bad egg, komodo, capsichum, platypunk,
    bag o' laughs, or ghost.  You'll be assigned one at random.  All the starters
    can eventually be obtained, by scouting and/or synthesis, so don't worry about
    which one you get.
    
    Outside the Albatross, Rory will get you to fight and scout a slime.  Then
    he'll head to the first region, Treepidation.  Before you exit to the world 
    map, be sure to check out the scout's stone and learn Zoom.

    Area 1:  Just head north, and you'll find a healing stone, which fully rests 
    your party.  These can only be used once per visit to a region.  The northeast 
    exit is blocked by a stream of water, so just take the north exit.
    
    Area 2:  You'll encounter Wormonger, a giant monster, for the first time.  It
    wanders around during the day, and sleeps at night.  For now, just avoid it.  
    Note that some monsters hide by burrowing into the ground, and you can fall 
    into these holes.
    
    Area 3:  Wait for the Wormonger to come by, and then fall into a hole created
    by a fleeing monster.  It will drop you into the cave, but on a platform with
    a red chest containing a copper sword.  Leave the cave to get back to area 3,
    then continue north.
    
    Area 4:  A swamp full of muddy hands.  At the north end, a mud mannequin blocks
    the way, and asks you to find its heart of mud.  Wait for the Wormonger to come
    by, and then pick up the bags dropped by fleeing monsters.  You'll quickly find
    the heart of mud, which lets you continue forward.
    
    Area 5:  You'll meet up with Archie and Rory, and then it'll become nighttime. 
    Nothing else to do here except enter the cave.
    
    Area 6:  Make your way through the cave from the northwest to the southeast.
    
    Area 7:  This area is a bit of a maze.  Look for vines (there are three) that 
    you can climb to get to the tops of the "maze".  During sunny weather, you'll
    find meddle slimes up there, which are like "fake" metal slimes.  They have
    2 HP and yield ~80 EXP, but are hard to hit and like to flee.  The west exit
    opens a path back to area 1, so this is a good point to take a break and
    return to the Albatross, if you want.  The north exit continues forward.
    
    Area 8:  The west exit will become accessible during rainy weather.  For now,
    continue north.
    
    Area 9:  There's another healing stone here.  Climb up the ladder and head
    east into the cave, where you'll find a red chest containing stone claws.  
    During the night, there are more meddle slimes down there.  Back in area 9,
    take the west exit.
    
    Area 10:  Watch out for the boss troll that patrols the area.  Near the
    entrance you'll find a stone square.  That's a zip portal, and there's one in
    each region.  Once activated, you can use Zip to return to the portal. Also
    nearby is a log, which leads to a red chest containing a seed of skill.  
    Exit north into the cave.
    
    Area 11:  Along the way you'll find a scout's stone that teaches you Zip.  
    Head right up into the sleeping Wormonger.
    
    Area 12:  The boss is just at the end of this tunnel.
    
    Area 13:  Return to area 8 when it's raining, and you'll be able to cross the
    log that leads to area 13.  There's some pretty tough monsters here.  At the
    south end is a red chest containing a sludgehammer.

    Back in the Albatross, you can now open Archie's red chest, which contains
    machine parts.  Deposit machine parts into the box next to the item vendor.
    They upgrade the item vendor, so that it offers more items.

    Area 1:  Right away you'll meet this region's giant monster, the Missing Lynx.
    It flies around at night, and sleeps during the day.  Run out of the way as 
    it swoops by.  Quickly find and enter the cave around the northwest of the 
    area.  During the day, there are meddle slimes in this field.
    
    Area 2:  A twisty cave with an exit to the west.
    
    Area 3:  Near the entrance is a pocket with a healing stone.  This is a great 
    opportunity to scout a healslime.  During the night, there are meddle slimes 
    in the southern tunnels.  And in the very southeast corner is a red chest 
    containing an iron lance.  Exit is to the northeast.
    
    Area 4:  Outdoors again, so watch out for the Missing Lynx.  Head southwest
    through one of the exits.
    
    Area 5:  For now, follow the red arrow.  There's a hades condor nest to the 
    north.  Just go around to the southwest exit.
    
    Area 6:  Head clockwise around the area to find the Zip portal and the exit.
    
    Area 7:  There's a cave to the north, but it's blocked by a mole right now,
    who tells you to head back to the moles den.  Backtrack to area 5, and in
    the southeast corner you'll find the den entrance.
    
    Area 8:  Later in the game you'll be allowed into the cave.  There's a 
    pocket to the southwest that has a red chest containing a metal ticket.
    
    
    ===============================================================================
     [W4] ARENA
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Red chests: Seed of skill
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    This isn't really like the other regions.  In the first room you'll learn about
    the difference between red chests and blue chests.  The red chest here contains
    a seed of skill.
    
    Now let's save Eugene and beat up those moles.  It's not a difficult fight. 
    The moles just attack, so bring a dedicated healer and possibly a monster
    that knows buff for an easy win.
    
    Afterwards you'll meet Don Mole, who administers the Monster Scout Challenge,
    and Dr. Lump, who assists with monster synthesis.  For now you have to talk to 
    Eugene and return to the Albatross.  After resting it'll become daytime.  
    
    Dr. Lump can now be found at the monster pen in the Albatross.  Before you 
    jump into synthesis, consider going to Iceolation first to scout some new 
    monsters.  Also, monsters need to be level 10 or higher before they can be 
    synthesized.
    
    In the back room you'll meet Martha, the mud mannequin you helped out earlier.  
    She administers the Monster Scout Proficiency Test, which is designed to teach 
    you about different aspects of the game.  It's worthwhile to keep up with this
    sidequest.
    
    To reach the next region, Iceolation, you have to clear rank F of the Monster
    Scout Challenge.  So head back to the Arena and clear it.  It's pretty easy.
    Rank E is also available and shouldn't be problem.  Eventually you'll have to
    clear all the ranks of the Challenge.  For more details, see the sidequest
    section.

    Area 1:  After shimmying along a ledge, climb down the vines into the northeast
    corner, there's a red chest containing a seed of defence.  Follow the winding 
    path and you'll meet up with Lily.  Save her from the hellhounds.  They can be
    tough to beat, but luckily you'll find a healing stone after the fight.
    
    Area 2:  First, head north into area 3 and then continue onwards to area 4.
    There you'll find a scout's stone that teaches you Heal All.  Backtrack to
    area 2, and to the west you'll find a pile of firewood and an ice wall.  Talk 
    to Lily, and she'll light the fire.  A giant monster, Bjorn, will come stomping
    through, breaking the ice wall.  Exit west to area 5.
    
    Area 5:  Here you'll find another pile of firewood and ice wall, but you need 
    a torch to light it.  Head into the cave to the south.
    
    Area 6:  In the northeast corner there's a red chest containing a silver sliver
    and a metal slime.  This is a real metal slime, which has 4 HP and drops around
    ~1000 EXP.  The north exit leads back to area 2, the south exit leads onward.
    
    Area 7:  You'll find a bonfire here.  Grab a torch and return to the pile of
    firewood.  Along the way, avoid enemies as best as possible.  Three encounters 
    and the torch will blow out.  After lighting the bonfire in area 5, Bjorn
    will stomp through and break the ice wall again.
    
    Area 8:  Oh look, another pile of firewood and an ice wall.  The east exit 
    leads to a section of area 3 where you can find a metal slime.  The north exit 
    leads forward to area 9.
    
    Area 9:  Here you'll have to save Lily from hellhounds again.  There are three
    instead of two this time.  After the fight, there's a healing stone and another
    bonfire.  Grab a torch and return to area 8.  You know the drill.
    
    Area 10:  Head around to the northeast exit, into a cave.
    
    Area 11:  There's a healing stone, a zip portal, and a red chest containing a
    yggdrasil leaf here.  When you're ready, leave through the northeast.
    
    Area 12:  First time here, you'll face a boss fight.  But you can return later 
    and explore.  The southwest exit leads to a section of area 3 where you can 
    find a metal slime.  The southeast exit leads to area 4, which leads back to 
    area 1.

    After beating the boss, you'll automatically return to the Albatross.  To 
    unlock the next region, clear rank D of the Monster Scout Challenge.  Details

    This region has lots of twisty paths and walls to climb.  Just keep an eye on 
    the map.
    
    Area 1:  Head up the ladder to the east.  The northwest exit leads to a hades
    condor nest and a dead end.  The northeast exist leads forward.
    
    Area 2:  Follow the path up north.
    
    Area 3:  To the east is a small cave (area 4), where you'll find a healing 
    stone, a red chest containing a metal ticket, and something else of interest.
    When you're done there, just continue north.  You'll see Melonie and Captain
    Mayday on the other side of the area.
    
    Area 5:  It's optional, but if you want to get to that western section of
    area 3 you just saw, make your way through the cave to the southwest exit.  
    You'll find a metal slime and some goodies there.  Once you're satisfied, go 
    back through the cave and take the north exit.  Oh, and the middle pocket of 
    the cave has a red chest with a jumbo insulade.
    
    Area 6:  Another winding path.  The exit is to the northeast.
    
    Area 7:  Go around to the zip portal here.  Take the exit near the zip portal 
    to area 8, where you'll learn Nose for Treasure from a scout's stone.  Then
    take the northeast exit in area 7 to area 9.
    
    Area 9:  Follow the winding path to the northwest exit.  There's a healing
    stone along the way.  At the exit you'll run into Jamirus, the mini-boss.
    
    Area 10:  This is the summit.  The final boss is at the top of the nest, which
    you'll have to climb up to.  But before you do that, take the south exit back
    to the northeast section of area 9.  You'll find a metal slime and a red chest
    containing a phoenix sceptre there.

    Area 1:  Walk towards the Countessand you'll get in a fight with a Tentickle. 
    It's tougher than a normal enemy, but not really that difficult.  It'll try to 
    stick status effects on you, so be prepared for that.  You'll be fighting more 
    of them, and they all drop machine parts.  Exit is to the west.
    
    Area 2:  Climb down the vine and fight another Tentickle.  Then climb up 
    the other vine and search behind the southern rock for a red chest that 
    contains an yggdrasil dew.  Exit to the west.
    
    Area 3:  Go fight another Tentickle.  The southwestern corner has a red chest 
    containing a metal ticket.
    
    Area 4:  There's a healing stone here.  Then climb down the vine and fight yet
    another Tentickle.  Climb up the other vine, and you can find a metal slime
    around here.  Exit to the east.
    
    Area 5:  There's lots of bona constrictors here.  Just continue on.
    
    Area 6:  Climb the northern platform to find a metal slime.  Exit is to the 
    northwest.
    
    Area 7:  The zip portal is here.  Climb down the ladder and fight the last
    Tentickle.  Follow the water to the southeast, there's a red chest containing
    a war hammer.  While still in the water, find the hole to the northeast and
    climb down.
    
    Area 8:  There's another healing stone in the southeastern pocket.  You'll
    fight the boss in the middle of the area.  After, check the northwestern
    pocket for a red chest containing a plus sceptre.

    The other regions have somewhat linear paths, but the Bemusoleum has an
    organized structure, clearly divided into east and west sides.
    
    In the entrance room (area 1), you'll find two locked doors,
    a red door to the east (unlocked by pressing two red buttons) and 
    a blue door to the west (unlocked by pressing two blue buttons).
    
    In the large central room (area 3), there are teleporters that connect to
    other areas: two areas on the east side, two areas on the west side.  Each
    side has a red button and a blue button.
    
    During sunny weather, you'll be able to access the two red buttons.
    During rainy weather, you'll be able to access the two blue buttons.
    
    Area 1:  Start by going up the stairs and exiting west.
    
    Area 2:  Just a straight corridor with an interesting painting and a red
    chest containing a metal ticket.
    
    Area 1:  You're back in the entrance area.  Head north to find a healing 
    stone and the zip portal.  Then press the two yellow buttons on the north
    wall to open the large yellow door.
    
    Area 3:  Right away you'll meet the boss monster, but it's protected by 
    some sort of barrier.  Anyways, let's start with the west side.  Take the 
    southwest teleporter to area 4.
    
    Area 4:  Climb down the ladder in front of you into the aqueduct, and then 
    exit northwest.
    
    Area 5:  Around the corner you'll find the ladder back up.  Make your way
    clockwise around the room, and press the red button on the west wall.  There's 
    also a south exit that goes back to area 4, where you'll a liquid metal slime.
    It has 12 HP and drops ~10,000 EXP.
    
    Area 3:  Now Zip back to the central room, and take the northeast teleporter 
    to area 6.
    
    Area 6:  Head east a climb up a ladder to the upper walkway.  Head south, and 
    climb back down.  Then climb down into the aqueduct and exit south.
    
    Area 7:  Round the corner and climb up the ladder.  Press the red button 
    on the east wall.
    
    Area 1:  Now Zip back to the entrance room, and go through the newly unlocked
    door to the east.
    
    Area 8:  The mini-boss is here.  Defeat it to disable the barrier around the
    final boss in area 3.
    
    Area 3:  Fight the final boss and then exit north to area 9.  Move forward
    and grab the Medal of Merit.
    
    Return to the Bemusoleum when it's raining.  The aqueducts will fill with
    water, enabling new pathways.
    
    Area 3:  This time take the northwest teleporter.  Next to it is a red chest 
    containing a multi medicine.
    
    Area 5:  Make your way clockwise around the room, and take the south exit.
    
    Area 4:  Again, a liquid metal slime is here, great for grinding.  Now walk
    across the boxes and press the blue button on the west wall.
    
    Area 3:  This time take the southeast teleporter.
    
    Area 7:  Follow the path and along the way, open the red chest containing
    an yggdrasil leaf near the northwest corner.  Exit to the northeast.
    
    Area 6.5:  Shimmy across to find a liquid metal slime and another red chest 
    containing a metal ticket.  Shimmy across to the northwest exit.
    
    Area 6:  Press the blue button on the east wall.
    
    Area 1:  Now Zip back to the entrance room, and go through the newly unlocked
    door to the west.
    
    Area 11:  There's a scout's stone in the second section of the area, which
    teaches you Vanish, a highly useful skill to have.

    Area 1/2:  Just follow the winding path.  It'll go through most of area 1, 
    then through part of area 2 (along the way is a liquid metal slime), briefly
    back into area 1, and then through the rest of area 2.  Step on the green
    teleporter in the northwest corner.
    
    Area 3:  Head around to the southeast, then take the stairs down.  Step on the
    green teleporter in the northwest corner.
    
    Area 4:  You have to move counter-clockwise around this room.  At the bottom,
    there's a green teleporter and a purple teleporter.  Step on the green one to
    access the section of area 3 with a scout's stone.  Then return to area 4
    and take the central elevator down.
    
    Area 5:  Just follow the path.  In the large southwestern chamber, there's a 
    hidden door that leads to a small area, where you'll find red chest containing 
    an obsidian sword.  Look at the walls closely for the panel has red eyes.  In 
    the next large chamber, there's a purple teleporter that lets you skip ahead.
    Or you could take the exit to area 6.
    
    Area 6:  Just follow the path.  In the southwest corner of the corridor, 
    there's a hidden door that leads to a small which has two blue chests.  In the 
    larger southeastern  chamber, there's a red chest containing a metal ticket in 
    the northeast corner.  In the northernmost chamber, there's a hidden door that
    leads to another small area, which has a red chest containing an elfin elixir.  
    Exit back to area 5.
    
    Area 5:  At the end is a healing stone and a green teleporter.
    
    Area 7:  In the southwestern corner is a red chest containing an yggdrasil
    leaf.  Make your way to the green teleporter on the east side.
    
    Area 8:  Similar to area 4, but you have to move clockwise around this room.
    Along the way is a liquid metal slime.  At the bottom, just take the central
    elevator down.
    
    Area 9:  Make your way to the green teleporter to the north.
    
    Area 10:  Head straight forward to find the zip portal.  There's a healing
    stone next to the green teleporter to the north.
    
    Area 11:  Here it is, the final boss!

    to Rory.  You'll then find yourself battling Solitaire in the final round
    of the other Monster Scout Challenge.  The rules of the Challenge apply, so
    no orders, no items, and no substitutions.  You can only set tactics.  Still,
    if you were able to beat Malevolynx, you shouldn't have much problem here.  
    Solitaire has a gigantes and a mumboh-jumboe.  Afterwards, enjoy the ending

    First, head down to the cargo hold and check the box you hid in at the start
    of the game.  It's Solitaire!  She'll head over to the Arena.  If you talk
    to Don Mole, he'll tell you Leonyx wants to talk to you.
    
    Before you go, there's a few new things worth mentioning.  In the Albatross,
    there's a blue slime who can change time to day or night, and there's a liquid
    metal slime who sells metal tickets for 10000G.  And the metal menagerie now
    has liquid metal slimes.
    
    Return to the Necropolis and talk to Leonyx.  He'll give you the ability to
    scout giant monsters, and then he'll challenge you once again.

    In the room beyond the door, you'll see the ghosts of the previous inhabitants, 
    and an evil gem.  Smash it!  A voice will tell you to find and smash three more 
    gems.  Then head north into the next room.
    
    In this circular room, you'll find a healing stone and the door leading to 
    the final boss.  Of course, to unlock the door, you have to smash those gems 
    first.
    
    This place is a giant maze.  I'll just tell you the quickest way to get to 
    the gems.  Don't worry if you fall through a pit.  Just fall through the next
    pit to return to the first room.
    
    Head north, west, and west.  You'll enter a four-way room with an evil gem.  
    Smash it and return to the circular room.
    
    Head north, north, north, and north.  You'll enter a straight hallway with an 
    evil gem.  Smash it and return south one room.
    
    Now head west, west, and north.  You'll enter a straight hallway with an evil 
    gem.  Smash it and zoom back to the circular room.
    
    Open the door in the center of the circular room.  Here, make your way to the 
    northeast, then follow the path upwards, pulling levers along the way to stop 
    the cogs.
    
    Next is the boss room.  There's a zip portal and healing stone here for your
    convenience.  When you're ready, climb down the ladders.

    After beating Rigor Mortex, the Dark World map will change slightly.  Use the 
    touchscreen to look around, and you'll notice there are now eight cave exits 
    around the edges of the map.  They lead to seven "new" areas, and each area 
    is associated with one of the seven families of monsters.
    
    To get to the Land of Light, first, check the red pillar in the main circular 
    room of the Dark World.  It will say a pillar carved with a certain monster 
    family symbol is the key.  Go to the area corresponding to that family, and 
    look for that pillar.  Check it, and it can teleport you to the Land of Light.

    Zip to the portal, exit northwest.  The stone is in the north corner.
    
    Iceolation (area 10):
    Zip to the portal, exit south.  The stone is in the northern pocket.
    
    Cragavation (area 9):
    Zip to the portal, climb up to the summit, exit southeast.  The stone
    is on the little overhang.
    
    Unshore (area 2):
    From the start, exit west.  Climb down the vine, then climb up the other vine.
    The stone is near the other exit.

    Eugene is found randomly near any of the Zip portals, except in the Dark 
    World.  Eugene is probably the hardest challenge in the game.  All his
    mosters are quite tough and have very high HP (except the metal slime of 
    course); for example, that first Komodo has a little over 2000 HP.
    
    The reward for beating him is pretty awesome though.  After each encounter
    he will give you a monster from his library.
