Introduction

This is the first guide I have done for Game FAQs, so I decided to do it on a very awesome series of games. Pokemon is an RPG that takes place in different regions. Pokemon Black and White are the most recent games made by Game Freak, the company that started the Pokemon RPG series in Japan and the US. The series has had many spin-offs, some RPGs, some of other genres.

Battles

Black has mostly rotational battles and White has more triple battles. In both games there is one exception, the battle on Marvelous Bridge with the Ace Trainer. Also the Gym leader changes depending on the game, White its Iris and Black its Drayden. In N's Castle, one of N's pokemon changes depending on the game, in White its Reshiram and in Black its Zekrom.

Cities

In each version of the game there is a location specific to that version. In Black its Black City and in White its White Forest. In Black City there are more pokemon battles and item shops whereas in White Forest there are more pokemon to catch and some items to find. There is also a difference in the design if Opelucid City and Mistralton city.

Note

I used the official pokemon strategy guide as I went through the game, so my guide is roughly based off of it.

Nuvema Town

When you start a new game you will listen to the Professors speech. After that, you will be in you room with your friends. Professor Juniper has left the three of you a present. It is three pokemon, you and both of your friends get one. You get to pick first, whichever one you choose, Bianca will choose the one that is weak to yours and Cheren picks the one that is strong against yours.

Now that you have your pokemon, Bianca wants a battle, this should be pretty easy, just keep attacking until her pokemon faints.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Oshawott lv.5Snivy lv.5Tepig lv. 5

After your battle she heals your pokemon and Cheren also wants a battle, use the same strategy to beat him as used for Bianca.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Tepig lv.5Oshawott lv.5Snivy lv.5

After the battles you go downstairs and you mom gives you the Xtransceiver (see item list).

Now your friends and you decide to go see Professor Juniper, but first you need to go pick up Bianca. When you get to her house you see her dad angry about her going on a journey. When you finally get to Professor Juniper, she gives you the Pokedex and asks you to go on a journey to fill it up for her research. First before you leave you need to get the Town Map from your mom.

Route 1

When you first head out on route one, Professor Juniper teaches you how to catch pokemon and then gives you 10 pokeballs. As you walk in the tall grass, pokemon jump out at you. Try to catch as many different types as you can with the pokeballs given to you. As you head north, your Xtransceiver rings, it's from Professor Juniper. She is waiting in Accumula Town, so head north and go meet her.

Note

You mom can heal your pokemon if they get weak from wild pokemon battles

Accumula Town

When you arrive, Professor Juniper will teach you how to use the pokemon Center and Pokemart. When that's done, you should check the PC. There is a PC in every Pokemon Center. After you are done with that, go outside and there is a speech being given by this group called Team Plasma. After the speech, make sure your pokemon are fully healed and about level 6 or 7. A mysterious man named N challenges you to a battle. He has a level 7 Purrloin, a dark type. Just keep attacking with your pokemon, dark type moves won't do much damage. When you beat him, head west to Route 2 and on to Striaton City.

Route 2

When you start out on Route 2, your mom comes and gives you some Running Shoes (see item list). There are 3 trainers to battle on this route, battle them to level up your pokemon for the upcoming gym. Bianca will challenge you to a battle.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Lillipup lv.6Lillipup lv.6Lillipup lv.6
Oshawott lv.7Snivy lv. 7Tepig lv.

Use whatever pokemon you can to beat her pokemon. After the battle head north to Striaton City.

Striaton City

When you first arrive here you can't challenge the gym. Since the man in front of the gym said the gym leader just went to the Trainers school. First you should go to the dreamyard.

Dreamyard

When you get here, there are 2 trainers to help level up your pokemon. There is a girl near the gate on the east end. She gives you a pokemon depending on the starter you chose.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Panpour lv.10Pansage lv.10Pansear lv.10

Use the one you get to help in your upcoming gym battle. With nothing left to do here go back to Striaton City.

Striaton City (2)

After you get back to the city go to the trainer school and battle Cheren when you get there.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Tepig lv.8Oshawott lv.8Snivy lv.8
Purrloin lv.8Purrloin lv.8Purrloin lv.8

Use the pokemon you got in the dreamyard to beat his first pokemon and then your strongest pokemon on his Purrloin. When you beat Cheren go and challenge the gym.

Striaton Gym

There are only two trainers to battle along the way to the gym leaders. You must step on the panel that is the type advantage over the type shown on the curtain. When you get to the gym leaders, they will decide who you face depending who you picked for your starter.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Lillipup lv.12Lillipup lv.12Lillipup lv.12
Pansear lv.14Panpour lv.14Pansage lv. 14

To beat Lillipup you just use your strongest pokemon to beat it. Use the pokemon you got in Dreamyard to beat the gym leaders second pokemon. I would have your pokemon at level 10 or higher. After you win you get the Trio Badge and Tm83-Work Up.

Straiton City (3)

Go to Fennel's house after winning and you will get HM1-Cut. She wants you to go to the dreamyard and get some Dream Mist for her.

Dreamyard (2)

You can use this map to navigate-http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/989552-pokemon- black-version/faqs/62587, this is not my work, all credit goes to the author. When you get here Bianca and you go to the back and see Team Plasma Grunts bullying a Munna. Beat them to help the Munna. When you do beat them, Ghetsis shows up and tells the grunts off. It turns out it was Musharna creating an illusion. Fennel shows up and gets the dream mist left behind by Musharna. Now go back to Striaton City.

Striaton City (4)

When you get back go to Fennels house and get the C-Gear from her. You can also save your data through the Game Sync. You can use that to transfer your pokemon to the Dreamworld. During you conversation with Fennel, a girl named Amanita will give you the Pal Pad. Also the second floor facilities in the pokemon centers are now open to use. Next you need to go to Route 3 and take it to Nacrene City.

Note

You can heal your pokemon at the preschool as many times as you need

There is a day care center where you can leave your pokemon and they will level up as you walk but you have to pay for it. You can also fight your first double battle, which is where you have two pokemon battling at the same time. After that Cheren challenges you to a battle.

If you chose SnivyIf you chose TepigIf you chose Oshawott
Tepig lv.14Oshawott lv.14Snivy lv.14
Purrloin lv.12Purrloin lv.12Purrloin lv.12

Just use the same strategy as the last time you battled him. After the battle you see Team Plasma run away, a girl then comes running up with Bianca saying that Team Plasma stole her pokemon. Now you can find pokemon in rustling grass, they are rare and you should try to catch them if you can. With that, you need to go to the Wellspring Cave and fight Team Plasma.

Wellspring Cave

You can use this map to navigate-http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/995081-pokemon- white-version/faqs/62324, this is not my work, all credit goes to the author. When you enter the cave you will need to battle them. The second battle will be a double battle. Cheren will join in to help you. There is one item to collect and once that is done head back outside and return to Route 3.

Route 3 (2)

Now if you go into dark grass there could be two pokemon you encounter and if you want to capture one you must defeat the other. Head back to the preschool and restore your pokemon's health. Then head south and then west to Nacrene City.

Nacrene City

Cheren will lead you to the pokemon center and gives you Chesto Berries. The second house to the right of the pokemon center, on the second floor you can trade a Cotonee for a Petilil. Also in the second house to the left of the pokemon center you can get and item for your starter. If you tell her Snivy you get Miracle Seed, if you tell her Tepig you get a Charcoal, and if you tell her Oshawott you get a Mystic Water . When you are about to enter the gym, N challenges you to a battle, he has a level 13 Pidove, a level 13 Tympole, and a level 13 Timburr. If you have it use an electric type or rock type on Pidove. On Tympole use a grass or electric type on it. On Timburr use a flying or psychic type if you have them. After that heal your pokemon and head out to Pinwheel Forest Entrance to level up your pokemon and catch a fighting type.

Pinwheel Forest (Outer)

You can train your pokemon here for the gym and you can catch a fighting type to help. There are three possibilities, Timburr, Sawk, or Throh. Once you have captured one of them and trained your pokemon to a level you are comfortable with go back to Nacrene City and take on the gym.

Nacrene Gym

There are 3 trainers throughout the gym that you battle and will help raise your pokemon's levels. You have to find books, the first two clues are pretty easy, but the last one is hard, you just have to keep tying until you get it. When you get to Lenora, the gym leader, she has a level 18 Herdeir and a level 20 Watchog. Use a fighting type if you have it. If you don't have one use your strongest pokemon against her. After beating her you get the Basic Badge and TM 67 Retaliate.

Nacrene City (2)

After beating the gym, Team Plasma steals the dragon skull from the museum. Outside you see the Castelia City gym leader Burgh. He and you will go to the west and check for Team Plasma in Pinwheel Forest, but before you go Bianca wants to give you the Dowsing Machine. With that in hand head off to Pinwheel Forest.

Note

There is a nurse at Pinwheel Forest Entrance who will heal your pokemon after you beat her.

You can use this map to navigate-http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/989552-pokemon- black-version/faqs/62323, this is not my work, all credit goes to the author. To the south of the entrance before you go into the forest, there is a challenge rock that you can smash if you have a fighting type pokemon in your party and get a Star Piece. Now is the time to head in to the forest, but first heal your pokemon with the nurse.

As you explore the Forest there are 4 Team Plasma Grunts to battle as well as 9 other trainers to battle. Battle all of them to raise the levels of your pokemon for the nest gym. Once you have defeated all of the Plasma Grunts you get the Dragon Skull back. One of the Seven Sages named Gorm comes and leaves after talking to you. Lenora will come and give you a Moon Stone for retrieving the Dragon Skull. Head east until you reach a paved road, there are some trainers there to battle. After you are done exploring, battling and collecting items, head north to the Skyarrow Bridge.

Skyarrow Bridge

The skyarrow is an extremely large bridge and the view as you cross it is magnificent. Crossing it will take you to the monster city of Castelia City.

Castelia City

There is so much to do in this city. I would start off with going down as you enter the city. If you talk to the man he will give you an evolutionary item depending on what pokemon you got in the Dreamyard. If you tell him Pansage, you get a leafstone. If you tell him Pansage, you get a Firestone. Finally if you tell him Panpour, you get a Water Stone.

Next head to the GAME FREAK building, in the lobby, there is a woman telling a boy a story about Zorua, this is how you register Zorua in your pokedex. After that head up to the 22nd floor to talk to the creators of this game.

On the second floor of the pokemon center there is a man who will give you items based on how many people you have traded with. If you have traded with 5 or more you get Wide Lens, if you have traded with 10 or more you get an Everstone, if you have traded with 20 or more you get Zoom Lens, if you have traded with 30 or more people you get a Choice Scarf, if you have traded with 40 or more people you get a PP Max, and if you have traded with 50 or more people you get a Master Ball, this is one of two that you can get.

In Studio Castelia, there is a man who will give you berries for showing him certain pokemon each day. Do this for 6 days to get all of the berries he offers. On Narrow Street, the third street to the west, there is a man with sun glasses will pop out and give you TM70 Flash. On Mode Street, the second street to the west, go to the Battle Company, on the 55th floor, you can battle the Janitor and get the EXP. Share if you win. There are only two of these available in the game.

If you go to Passerby Analytics HQ on Mode Street, you can become the statistician and receive survey requests. If you go to the center area, there is a dancer named Mickey. He wants to put together a dance team. One of the dancers is on Narrow Street and the other is at Unity Pier which is straight across from Narrow Street. You have to battle each dancer before they will join the dance team. Once you have gotten both dancers head back to the center area and Mickey will give you an Amulet Coin.

Once you are done exploring the city, head to the gym on the street the farthest street to the west. When you get there, Cheren comes out having just beaten gym and Burgh is right behind him. Burgh wants you to go to Prime Pier because Team Plasma is there. Prime Pier is across from Mode Street. When you get to Prime Pier, you find out that Team Plasma has stolen one of Bianca's pokemon. You find out that the Team Plasma base is directly across from the gym, how did that happen!?! Well anyway there are a few grunts to beat inside. Once you have beaten them Ghetsis will lecture Burgh at first but eventually back down and returns Bianca's Munna. After Bianca gets her pokemon back, she makes Iris her bodyguard. As thanks Iris gives you a Yache Berry. As soon as you have your pokemon at a comfortable level and a fire or flying and water or rock type pokemon. You can get a flying type Pidove in Pinwheel Forest or you can get a fire type Darumaka on Route 4. Also you can get a rock type Roggenrola back in Wellspring Cave or the only water type you can have right now is if you picked Oshawott as your starter.

Castelia Gym

There are 4 trainers to battle throughout the gym to help the levels of your pokemon. When your pokemon are fully healed, you can challenge the gym leader. He has a level 21 Whirlipede, a level 21 Dwebble, and a level 23 Leavanny. Use Flying or fire on Whirlipede and Leavanny and use water or rock on Dwebble. With a little luck and strategy you will win and get the Insect Badge as well as TM76-Struggle Bug.

Castelia City (2)

After you beat the gym, Bianca calls you on the Xtransciever and challenges to a pokemon battle on Route 4 to the north of Castelia City. Head to the gate and Bianca comes from behind when you enter the gate.

There are trainers that you can battle to get your pokemon ready to face your next gym leader.

After beating Cheren, Professor Juniper calls you on the Xtransiever and tells you that she will be waiting at the gate to Nimbassa City. But first head to the Desert Resort to train your pokemon.

There are quite a few trainers to battle hear as well as items to collect. You can enter the relic castle, but you can't get very far in it.

There is a backpacker on the west side of 1F who will give you either the Cover or Plume Fossil depending on which you want. After you get your fossil return to Route 4 as you can go no further in here.

Route 4 (2)

Head to the gate and get some Ultra Balls from Professor Juniper and head into Nimbasa City.

Nimbasa City

The first thing to do is go help the Day Care man being attacked by Team Plasma Grunts. After you win, he gives you a Bicycle. After that is done, you see Bianca and see tells you about how there are many facilities here and she is going to the Musical Theater. Head over to the Battle Subway, which is just a little north of your current position. As you are about to enter, a woman jumps out and gives you a Vs. Recorder. At the Battle Subway you can battle trainers and get BP(Battle Points) which can be exchanged for useful items. Also at the Battle Subway is a Train that takes you to Anville Town.

Anville Town

On weekends you can trade items with the people here. The depot agent will give you Items depending on how many win streaks you have at the Battle Subway. You can get up to 10 items at once.

Nimbasa City (2)

To the west of the pokemon center there is the Battle Institute where you can take a Battle test after you beat the game. In a house to the North side of the Battle Institute there is a man who will give you the HM Strength. You can visit the Big Stadium in the north part of the city and the Small Court on the left. You can train your pokemon here for you upcoming Gym battle. You can head over to the Prop Case from the owner of the musical theater, with that in hand you can now participate in the musical theater if you so choose. When you leave the musical theater you meet Bianca's dad, he's worried about his daughter, during the ensuing argument, Elsa, the Gym Leader, comes and settles the argument.

Head over to the Amusement park on the east side of town, you see N there, he asks you to take a ride with him, during the ride he reveals that he is the King of Team Plasma. He will now challenge you to a battle. He has a Sandile Lv. 21, use a water, grass, fighting, or bug types to beat it. He also has a Lv. 22 Darumaka, use water or ground on it. He has a Lv. 22 Sigilyph, use Dark, Bug, or Ghost. His last pokemon is a Lv. 22 Scraggy, use Bug, Fighting, and Flying.

Go to the Route 16 gate on the north east side of town where you will get a Macho Brace from an Infielder. The last thing you have to do is to train your pokemon to a level your comfortable with. The gym leader's pokemon are 25, 25, and 27. When you are ready, head to the gym on the east side of town.

Nimbasa Gym

There are four trainers here that you can battle to raise your pokemon's level as you travel the gym. Once you make it to Elsa, be prepared for her two level 25 Emolgas and her level 27 Zebstrika. On the Emolgas use ice or rock type moves as they are immune to ground type attacks. On her Zebsrtika use ground type attacks to take it down. If congrats, you have earned yourself the Bolt Badge and the TM 72-Volt Switch.

Nimbasa City (3)

After the battle head west, with Elesa as your guide, the drawbridge is lowered, you can cross it, but before you do that, train your pokemon and collect items.

Driftveil City

When you enter the city, the Gym Leader Clay will ask you to find team plasma because the ones he caught escaped when the bridge was lowered. There is a move tutor that will teach your starter pokemon one of the three combo moves. If they are used in conjunction with another one in a triple or double battle, they will become stronger. The house is the second one to the north. In a house to the left of the pokemon center, if you show her the right pokemon, she will give you a Heart Scale. You can use them to have your pokemon re-learn a move in Mistralton City. A man named Charles, he will teach you about rotational battles and let you battle him using this new format. After you're done exploring the city head to Cold Storage to the south of the city.

Cold Storage

You can use this map to navigate-http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/989552-pokemon- black-version/faqs/62347, this is not my work, all credit goes to the author. There are three trainers you can battle before entering the storage building and there are also a few items to collect. When you approach the west end of the storage building, Cheren shows up and says he will search the storage building with you. Some parts of the floor in the building are covered with ice which makes them hard to navigate. There are more pokemon trainers in the storage building for you to battle. Team Plasma is hiding in a container to the west side of the storage building. There are eight Team Plasma Grunts in the container, Cheren takes four, leaving you four to battle as well. After you beat them, Clay will come in and take them away. You can now challenge the Driftveil City. Head back to the city, heal your pokemon, and challenge the gym when you feel ready.

Driftveil City (2)

When you arrive in front of the Driftveil Gym, Ghetsis comes and demands the return of his Plasma Grunts. Ghetsis threatens Clay and he is forced to return them. After that is done, Ghetsis leaves. Now you can enter the gym now.

Driftveil Gym

There are five trainers scattered around the gym. You use elevators to navigate and eventually reach Clay. When you do reach him, he has a Lv.29 Krokorok, a Lv.31 Excadrill, and a Lv.29 Palpitoad. They are all weak to grass, especially Palpitoad. Krokorok is also weak to fighting and bug. Excadrill is also weak to fire, fighting, and ground. If you defeat him, he will give you the Quake Badge. He is the only gym leader that doesn't give you a TM right away. He gives it to you at the entrance to Chargestone Cave.

Driftveil City (3)

After you exit the gym, heal you pokemon and head west to Mistralton City. Along the way Bianca will challenge you to a battle

Note

You can heal your pokemon at the house in the northwestern part of the route.

There are 6 trainers on Route 6 for you to battle. Also be careful of some items you try to pick up because it could be a Foongus. In the northern part of the route there is a season research center that is conducting research on Deerling, which changes its form depending on the season. If you show them a Deerling in all four forms they will give you a Leaf Stone. When you are done exploring the route head to the westernmost part of the route and enter Chargestone Cave.

Note

On the B1F a doctor will heal your pokemon after you beat him

You can use this map to navigate-http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/989552-pokemon -black-version/faqs/62354, this is not my work, all credit goes to the author.
