I dedicate this FAQ to anyone who truly loves this game. It is one that I
have flip-flopped on through out my video game days, liking it some years
and hating it the next. I can now appreciate the challenge, but it really
was a shamelsss way to cash in on the name of Donkey Kong! God bless old
Nintendo, as they sure know how to milk their characters!

Also, for Cougar, Howler, and Koonce. I miss you, and I hope you are living
it up in the afterlife as you did in this world. You will always be in my
memories, and you will never be forgotten.

--------------------------------Introduction--------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) The following story is my own approximate take on the game, so hopefully
it will come close to mirroring the real story created by Nintendo.

Stanley the garderner arrived at the greenhouse early one morning to see
that a giant ape had taken over! Even worse, he recognized the giant ape as
none other than Donkey Kong himself! Once Donkey Kong spotted Stanley, he
became enraged and started to throw coconuts at the gardener while he
stirred up the normally docile insects, sending them out of their homes in a
blind rage! Stanley knew he must do something, so he grabbed his own
special formula of bug spray and headed out to take care of the enraged
primate and the stirred up insects!

Not exactly the strongest premise, but it is pretty fun once you get
going on it. Mindless arcade action comes to mind when playing, so it
will be an intense gaming experience!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) This section will look at the all the tricks you can use to outwit all
   of the enemy operatives.

LEFT : Moves Stanley to the left.

RIGHT : Moves Stanley to the right.

DOWN : Moves Stanley down one ledge in the level.

UP : Moves Stanley up one ledge in the level. Also, if he is on the
highest ledge, this will allow him to jump into the air, getting a
bit closer to his target before spraying his can.

B Button: Shoots Stanley's bug spray.

A Button: Shoots Stanley's bug spray.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) This section will look at all the enemies that Stanley must endure as he
takes care of the angry Donkey Kong.

                                o--------o
Beespy
                                o--------o

Found in the very first level, these guys are very non-aggressive in their
movements downwards. They will just gently fly down towards the flowers,
plucking one up to go take it back to the hive. They can fire projectiles
only when they have a Flower in their clutches, so be aware at that point.

Not a particularly dangerous foe, they can prove to be annoying if you
ignore them to the point where they can reach Stanley and touch him. They
disappear in level 9, so they will not be around for very long.

                               o----------o
Buttifly
                               o----------o

Found for the first time in level six, these guys are very similiar to the
Beespies as they do not shoot unless they have a Flower in hand, but they
are a tad more aggressive in going towards Stanley.

Again, not a very dangerous foe, they have this ability to sneak up on
Stanley at times. They are a short lived enemy as well, since they
disappear in level 9, never to reappear.

                                o---------o
Buzzbee
                                o---------o

An upgrade on the Beespies (literally, they actually replace the Beespies,
starting on Level 9), they are faster, a little more aggressive in going
after Stanley, and they pluck the flowers much faster.

They will never go away, so get ready for a lot of there moving downwards
towards Stanley, trying to touch him, followed by their Flower stealing,
meaning they can fire projectiles as they flee.

                            o------------------o
Creepy The Snake
                            o------------------o

Perhpas the most irratating foes in the entire game, these guys can not be
defeated with regular bug spray (only the Super Spray is able to defeat
them). If they get shot with bug spray, they will be stunned momentarily,
making them a real danger if they block the spray route to Donkey Kong.

To deal with them, spray them before they get towards the centre of the
screen, stunning them so they will not interfere. They are a frequent
nuisance in your quest to get rid of Donkey Kong.

                              o-------------o
Donkey Kong
                              o-------------o

The main man for the opposition, he rests on two vines in the centre of the
screen near the top. He will continually slide downward, trying to reach
the area below, spelling instant doom for Stanley. He will also hold his
position to throw a coconut on occasion.

To beat him, you must simply spray him continually with the bug spray, as it
will force him up the vine (strong bug spray I know!). Note that if he
stops to hurl a coconut, spraying him will not move him nor stop him from
throwing the missile.

He must be forced up the vines to end the level, so he should be your
primary target while playing every level. Only leave him to go after other
targets if he is high enough up the vines to not be a concern about hopping
off.

                                 o-------o
Moths
                                 o-------o

Flying in very erratic patterns, these baddies will home in on the gardener
in a very quick manner. They are tough to shoot, which makes it tougher to
avoid them swarming Stanley.

They do have projectiles, with or without a Flower in hand, so be really
aware as they guys come pouring out of their hives.

                               o-----------o
Queen Bee
                               o-----------o

A large bee that take two hits to kill! Adding into the evil that is this
bug is that when it is killed, it will explode in a deadly form of bug body
shrapnel!

If you choose to kill this bug, try to be directly underneath it when
delivering the final blow as the shrapnel flies out on four diagonal paths
(two to the left, two to the right).

                              o-------------o
Stag Beetle
                              o-------------o

Appearing about a dozen levels into the game, they will remain for the
entirety of the game. They fly downwards till they end up level with
Stanley on a horizontal line, which is when they choose to fly across the
screen in an attempt to get Stanley from the side!

Try to take them out as they come towards Stanley, though if they do get
past your bug spray, try your best to bait them into flying across the
screen, at which point you should drop down a level or two to avoid them.

-----------------------------------Items------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) This section will look a the Items within the game.

                                 o---------o
Flowers
                                 o---------o

Lined up across the bottom fo the screen (five of them), these are the
targets of most of the descending insects (barring their obsession with
stinging Stanley of course). They are Bonus Points for clearing a round,
with an added point score for keeping all five from the insect's clutches.

                               o-------------o
Super Spray
                               o-------------o

Located up on a vine with Donkey kong, force Donkey Kong to hit it off the
vine by spraying him. It will remain on the ground till you choose to
collect it, unless you die (at which point it will always appear on the
vine, whether it was used or not). Once it is collected, your spray will
become more powerful, forcing Donkey Kong up the vine faster than normal, it
will pass through an insect to kill others behind the one that was shot,
and it will kill off Creepy The Snake!

Note that it will last for about 2-3 levels, depending on how quickly you
eliminate Donkey Kong from the screen.

5) This section will look at the points gained through all actions in the

The two hives are the source of the insects while the leaves that touch the
layered platform are how Creepy the Snakes will get at Stanley. This level
is relatively simple, requiring little more from Stanley than jumping to the
top area and spraying like mad to send Donkey Kong scurrying.

However, as the levels progress and the bugs become far more dangerous,
shooting from the center platform of the three is recommended as it allows
for easier bug killing while avoiding their initial charge (you get more
time to shoot them this way).

Although this would seem like it is a straightforward level, you actually
have a really present annoyance to deal with; Creepy Snakes! They guys will
crawl across the vines stretched between the trees, so jump up to the top
tier to shoot Donkey Kong a few times, then move to both sides to stun the
appearing Creepy Snakes, and then return to the centre to shoot Donkey Kong
up to the hive above to get him covered in honey!

Note that insects from the hives are less numerous in this level, but they
too will come down occasionally, so be ready for their advances.

Similiair to the first level type you see, the removal of the middle
platform ledge makes it play completely differently. The insects will
still appear from the hives and the Creepy Snakes will still come down the
leaves to get onto your ledges, but you will have to work your way up to the
highest ledge by taking the side path.

Just be ready to drop down if the bugs become too much to handle, as it is
better to let Donkey Kong come down the vines a little bit than it is to
die.
