"The game that started it ALL......................"

The game that started the video game revolution just HAD to be none other than Super Mario Brothers. This game is a legend, a tradition, and the very first game ever printed, after the Atari games, that is. I purchased Super Mario Brothers over eight years ago when I was five, and to this day I am still trying to beat Bowser in the eighth world. This game is reason enough to buy the NES, if not for the price, which is approximately $5 in my area.

GRAPHICS: Considering the technology the guys over at Nintendo had when this game was made, these graphics are top notch. Although no Sonic Adventure or NFL2K, the graphics in SMB are pretty darn good, I love the graphics at the end of the levels, like 1-4, 2-4, etc.! The Koopas are pretty well-designed, same with the Goombas, not to mention whenever you stomp on either one.

SOUND/MUSIC: The only two bad parts of the game. The music is consistent throughout the game, and after ten or fifteen minutes, gets mighty annoying. The sound is more decent than the music, mainly because there is a wider variety of sounds. There separate sounds for everything, and the sounds the game makes when you step on a Koopa or Goomba can get pretty repetetive ande tedious.

STORY: Classic NES story. Bowser kidnapped the Princess Toadstool and the rest of her friends, and you, Mario, the little plumber, must save her. Short, if not non-existent, but a simple and excellent plot.

CONTROLS: The simplest and I've ever seen, so simple a baby could learn to control Mario before learn to breathe. One button jumps, one button dashes, and of course, the directional pad moves you left/right or makes you look up or crouch. Case closed.

DIFFICULTY: EXTREMELY difficult! I have started this game over eight years ago, and still haven't beaten it yet. The main reason for this difficulty is the fact that the game fails to have a memory card. If it had a memory card, I would've beaten it in twenty minutes :-)

OVERALL: Possibly the best video game ever made for any of the fifty-something systems on the market now. If you have a choice, definitely buy this game, because you'll never get any satisfaction out of it if you rent it. Besides, you don't really have much of a choice, because it is physically impossible to rent it anymore, and pretty darn hard to buy, too. Let's get to the reviews:

GRAPHICS: 9/10

SOUND/MUSIC: 7/10

STORY: 9/10

CONTROLS: 10/10

DIFFICULTY: 10/10

OVERALL: 10/10 (not an average)

FINAL THOUGHT: Alone, this game makes NES by far the best game system out there, despite the fact that it is so old.
