Summer 2004: The Great GameFAQs Character Battle III

It's back...again!

In 2002, Link defeats Mario to take the first victory. In 2003, Cloud defeats Sephiroth. In 2004, it's time to decide once again who's the best video game character.

The users of GameFAQs have nominated 64 characters and it's time to let them battle it out. Starting August 1st, the third 64-character winner-take-all tournament will begin, using the Poll of the Day, and at the end of it all, we will have a champion.

Your task, should you dare to even try, is to get into the heads of the hundreds of thousands of GameFAQs visitors and try to guess in advance what characters they will pick. This is not a contest to see which character would be more powerful in a fight, or necessarily which character is best. This is a popularity contest, and it gets wilder every year.

For the first round of 32 polls, picking the correct game that wins that day's poll will score one point. For each successive round, picking the winner will earn double the points of the round before (Round 2: 2 points, Round 3: 4 points, Round 4: 8 points, Semifinals: 16 points, Finals: 32 points).
