GameFAQs Help: Most Common Problems and Issues **READ ME FIRST**

I try to log in, and nothing happens. What's going on?

If you enter your username and password, but the system does not log you in or give you an error message, then you are either not storing or not sending cookies to GameFAQs.

You must have cookies enabled to log in to GameFAQs. Some browser security settings can stop your browser from using cookies, so you may need to adjust your system settings.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer, in the Tools menu, select "Internet Options", go to the Security Tab, and on the Custom Settings screen make sure that "Allow per-session cookies" is enabled.

In Firefox, in the Tools menu, go to the "Privacy" menu, and on the "Cookies" tab, make sure that you have not disabled cookies or that "gamefaqs.com" is not in your blocked cookies list.

Additionally, having your computer's time and date set wildly incorrectly (i.e. several months or years ahead of the actual date) can cause problems staying logged in.

Why doesn't my activation key work?

Some e-mail programs can cut off the last digits of the URL, and that entire URL is required in order to activate your account. Try copying and pasting or even typing in the URL by hand, making sure that you enter the entire string in order to activate your account.

If you are still having problems, please visit this Registration Issues help page for additional information.

What do I do if I forget my password?

Use the Lost Password form to have your username and password mailed to you.

What do I do if I forget my e-mail address?

If you know your universal username and password, you can simply log in using your username instead of the e-mail address. If you cannot remember the universal username or your e-mail, but know the GameFAQs board username and password, then you can use the Forgotten E-mail Feedback form to retrieve your login e-mail address.

What do I do if I forget my username/password and my e-mail address?

You must have access to one or the other. If you have forgotten both login your e-mail address and your username/password combination, there is almost no way for you to prove that you are indeed the original account owner.

I no longer use the e-mail listed on my account. Can you still send me my password?

Unfortunately, no. The only way to confirm that an account belongs to a particular person is through the private e-mail address they have listed on the account. If you choose not to keep that information up to date, there is no way we can verify that the account actually belongs to you.

I got an e-mail or IM from someone at GameFAQs asking for my password. Should I give it to them?

Nobody from GameFAQs will ever ask for your password, under any circumstances. If someone claims to be from GameFAQs in e-mail or IM and is asking for your account information, it's more than likely that it's someone trying to break into your account.

I had a GameFAQs account several years ago, but I can't log in now. What's wrong?

GameFAQs changed its user registration system in 2005, and gave users 10 months to upgrade their accounts. Accounts that were not upgraded before September 30, 2005 cannot be upgraded, and you will need to re-register a new account in order to access the site.

How can I stop getting redirected to GameFAQs Mobile every time I visit GameFAQs?

This will happen if your browser is being detected as a mobile browser based on the "User Agent" information it is passing. Simply click the "Disable GameFAQs Mobile" link at the bottom of the page, and as long as your browser is accepting cookies, the redirection should be blocked for the next 60 days. If you are not using a mobile browser but keep getting redirected, you should fill out an Error Report Feedback ticket to explain the problem.
