Top 10 Lists : The Top 10 Plot Twists. (SPOILERS)
Plot twists have always been a major driving force for a story. They have either brought the story forward, created a new enemy, changed your view on the game world, or changed your enemy entirely. So I bring you the top ten plot twists.
The least surprising plot twist on the list (especially after the other one in Bioshock, higher up on the list.). Atlas reveals that he is really Frank Fontaine, and was just using you to eliminate Ryan. He later decides to kill you and becomes the primary antagonist by the end of the game.
At the end of Gears, it is revealed that the humans are invading the Locust world and not vice-versa. It changed my view of the humans, Locust, and the whole war. The only reason this doesn't go any higher is because the story was relatively weak other than the twist.
There are two major truths about Sin which are revealed in the game. The first is that the being inside of Sin is Yu Yevon, the god whom everyone praises. The other is that Sin is a fusion between Yevon and the Final Summoning, the only thing that can destroy Sin.
Throughout the game, Karin reminds Yuri of his mother Anne. In the end of Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Karin is warped to the past, where she is found by Yuri's father. This twist is very debatable. Is Karin Yuri's mother? I'll let you decide.
Near the end of God of War, it is revealed that Kratos was tricked by Ares to kill his own family. With his family's blood on his hands, his family's ashes were bounded to Kratos' flesh. With his family dead, and army under Ares control, he did the only thing he could do: Seek revenge.
This was unexpected in every way. At the beginning of Chapter V, it is revealed that the universe is really an MMORPG known as the Eternal Sphere. The reason that this twist is not number 1 is because it seemed to have nothing to do with the rest of the story.
At the beginning of Metal Gear Solid 2, somehow, Liquid begins to control Ocelot via his arm. This was officially the weirdist plot twist I head ever seen.
Throughout the game, Revan is known as one of the most powerful Sith Lords ever. It is also told that Bastila killed him, after his apprentice, Malak, betrayed him. After your first battle with Malak, he explains to you that you are Revan and that the Jedi wiped your memory. It adds one more reason to hate Malak, and one more to hate the Jedi.
The second plot twist from Bioshock is more surprising than the first. Apparantly, Jack was the son of Andrew Ryan and a hooker. When he heads onto the plane in 1960, he is two years old but with the physique of a 20 year old. He also hijacked the plane and crashed it. He is also being controled by Atlas with the words "Would you Kindly". This helps you realize who Jack is, and gives you motivation to stop Atlas.
Here we are. The mother of all plot twists. At the end of Metal Gear Solid 3, EVA betrays Snake. That would have been a big twist on its own but EVA later explains that The Boss was set up by the U.S. government. Also in the ending: Naked Snake is promoted to Big Boss, and Ocelot is revealed as a triple agent. The ending changed my whole view of the story, as well as helped me understand the reasoning behind Big Boss' betrayal. That is why this is the biggest plot twist of all time.
So there you go, the top ten twists of all time. You may disagree with me. You may have other twists that I don't have, but this was my opinion and mine alone.
