Top 10 Lists: The Top 10 Ways To Defeat A Ghost In A Video Game
When walking down the street and one has an encounter with the likes of the spirit kind there is only one question that needs answered. That questions is, “what should I do?” The answer to that question is simple that is to defeat the ghost, but in real life it would next to impossible. Video games are a whole other story. When you meet an unhappy spirit in a video game defeating them is no problem. To help the general public I have put together a list of the ten best ways to defeat a supernatural baddie. Before I begin let me point out what I meant by defeat was anything that removes the ghost from battle, inflicts damage, rendering the ghost incapable of continuing a fight, and whipping of a ghost not necessarily the destroying or soul destruction of a ghost. With that stated let the fun begin with number ten, a classic.
Ok, the classic. When encountering the likes of many ghost and there is no trap near by this has to do. Most everyone knows that Ghostbusters was a horrific game on the NES, but I am referring to the Genesis game which was quite fun and definitely the one of the better of the Ghostbusters games. The Proton Pack not only added a long range weapon it was a great way to defeat a ghost that was trying to give you the chills. The Proton Pack sent them back with a shock and pulse. Great weapon and definite earner of number ten on this list.
This is our first example of defeating them does not mean to kill them off all the time and in Metroid Prime this item was extremely helpful. When you begin to get jumped by a Chozo Spirit for the first time you can not see it very well at all and odds are you tried to use the Thermal Visor to see it only to find out that the spirit has no heat until it shoots at you, so here you are fighting a ghost without any possibly way to see it without taking a bunch of damage. Odds where that you would avoid these nasty spirits in fear of losing a bunch of life until you found the X-Ray Visor which made it possible to get them back. This visor made it possible to track the spirits and when you could see them kicking them around was no longer a problem and most likely you when around hunting for those now push over spirits, because instead of having to wait for their attack to shoot them you could see them move and blast them before they materials to take a shot a you all thanks to the X-Ray Visor.
This is one of my all time favorite Kirby games and the Chef Power made it even funnier. Your probably wondering how did this defeat ghosts. Well, simple this power was a one shot power that all enemies on screen, other than bosses and sub-bosses, would jump into a large cooking pot and get cooked into food that you, Kirby, could pick up and eat to regain a little bit of life. When the Kubos, name of Kirby game ghosts, where around this power made them no problem. Simply use it when a bunch of annoying ambushing Kubos came after you and make lunch out of them. After the Chef Power use these annoying ghosts where now instead of taking your life they you giving you life. The Chef Power had only three defects which were it could only be acquired from a Chef mini-boss after defeating one and swallowing it, it had a one shot use so after using it is was gone, and it did not work on bosses. Other than that it was a ghost buster of the game when you could get it.
This is a classic way to remove the undead and likes of the supernatural kind. The good old cure spell that hurts ghost a lot more than most black magic spells and physical attacks. White Magic is great for keeping the party in good health and for making the baddies of the underworld hurt really bad. When a White Mage reaches higher levels it can cast the mighty Holy spell that can defeat the villains of the spirit kind wish that they were more careful in life because death is nothing that any self-respecting ghost would approve of.
The killer egg is capable of removing some Mario game villains from existence from a long distance. The killer egg also is capable of defeating and damaging the likes of giant Boos with ease. It is a rare thing that an egg and beat a ghost and other supernatural baddies before they take off with Baby Mario, and if they do cause you to lose him simply use the egg to save Baby Mario and defeat the ghost or ghost-like opponent that tried to snatch him. The killer egg leaves giant Boos with egg on their face, and out of the way.
The simple fist is probably one of the most used ideas to defeat a ghost and one of the least practical methods. The way it works is simple just run behind a Boo and punch him in the back and then at that moment he is history and all that is left is a coin that can be used to fill one piece of your life. In order to punch a boo, however, you have to get behind him and looking at the Boo without him seeing you look at him then simply punch him, not really creative or difficult to figure out. Other than it not being much of a mark of originality it is quite fun to finally be able to kill those Boos with a bare hand, I wonder if this idea was in the Nintendo 64 Super Mario 64 I do know that it is included in the DS version.
This is a marvel of humor that has made ghost hunting sound good, due to the ghost busting gear that is used to get ghosts can also clean floors. Luigi’s Manson had all the humor and gear needed to capture many spooks and Boos throughout the game. This item of ghost capturing comes with many needed features to make busting ghosts to seem more like and art then a survival thing. This vacuum is fitted with a flash light that can be used to paralyze ghost in place making them easier to nab in dark places. The vacuum can also be put with element meddles that allow the vacuum to pick up the ghosts that had elemental power and use the power of that ghost thus making this vacuum cleaner a grand cleaner of ghost. Very few things can out class the humor of this vacuum cleaner and number three is more than capable of beating number four.
This is defiantly better than the vacuum cleaner and for several reasons. First this is again an example that defeat dose not necessarily mean the killing of or the annihilation of something. In the Ocarina of Time there is about three or four bottles that can be used to hold and store many things like potions and fairies, but it can also be used as a sick form of touchier for a ghost like a Poe. These ghosts usually use a fire attack to burn you, but I heard that if you are fast enough with a bottle you run the chance of trapping that fire in a bottle for uses else where also it is suppose to work better on the blue fire. Other then that the bottle is an excellent example that it is not how the ghosts get defeated it is what happens to the ghost after words and in this game they do not get to disappear without you getting to either let it go or to put it in a bottle, cruel treatment. When you bottle a Poe Spirit you can take it and trade it for things and after trading it what happens to the poor unlucky spirit is left in the mercy of some weird spirit trader guy and what he does with them we have no idea or do we care.
This was probably an idea that seemed to much like a spin off to sound worthy of being put on a top ten list about ways to defeat a ghost, but when one would step back and think about it long enough they would come to the conclusion that if this gun could not make this list then very few things can. The Ghost Gun not only is more than capable of devastating an unlucky ghost’s afterlife it also can with the Ghost Goggles which made it possible to see ghosts wherever they hid. The gun itself fire a red color ray that puts ghosts out of their misery and obliterates them from the level, and with the Ghost Gun ammo is no problem do to it runs on some sort of power core that is infinite so you do not have to worry about reloading or finding ammo, I wish I could say the same for this games other weapons. The Ghost Gun is also in multi-player mode, but instead of killing ghosts it makes opponents into ghosts, kind of handy to have in a match with some one who gets a heavy weapon fast and dose not know how to evade to well. As far as I know there are very few things capable of out classing this weapon and the number one spot certainly leaves this weapon of ghost defeating in the dust.
This probably has people thinking that I am some kook, but lets be completely honest I bet the first time you played you had no idea that this could be a great ghost killer. Lets recall the event with the Phantom Train and if not let me mention that the fight with that train was a long and grueling battle unless you came prepared and instead of fighting the whole battle like a moron you used one Phoenix Down on the Phantom Train and revived the train you would kill him off on the first turn of the fight in a matter of seconds. The Phoenix Down could do more than reviving allies and killing the Phantom Train it can be used on every ghost type monster and nine time out of ten, or so, it will kill the ghost off instantly, and unlike most quick kill methods you got full experience for it also. Now maybe you are thinking, “Were can I get this wonder full item in Final Fantasy VI.” That another big plus for this item because unlike almost everything on this list where things has to be found in a special place this item can be bought at almost every Item Shop in the game so when you go enough money and you want to go ghost hunting you better go stocking up on these little items, which the max you can carry is ninety nine. Hint why that the Phoenix Down is number one on way to defeat a ghost in a video game.
That concludes the top ten ways to defeat a ghost I hope you all take this info to heart and the next time you go looking for the supernatural you are prepared to deal with the nastiest of the underworld with the best ways to defeat ghosts. With all that stated their remains only one slight problem, that problem is that none of these methods will work on real ghosts, but it is the thought that counts after all so at least they work in video games which is not a total lose.
