Top 10 Lists: The Top 10 Sonic Songs

Sonic the Hedgehog series are known very well for their great songs. Some people say that, since Sonic Adventure, music and graphics are the only good thing about the games, as they dislike the gameplay. For me, the games are fine both in gameplay and other aspects. Below I present you with the Top 10 songs from Sonic the Hedgehog series. *WARNING: SPOILERS*

"Do you remember me? Capture you or set you free! I am all, I am... all of me!" This song - the main theme of Shadow the Hedgehog marks the beginning of dark music for Crush 40, the band the does most of Sonic songs. The hard rock makes you go on and fight even the biggest of bad guys... which isn't hard, since this song also plays during the final boss battle with Devil Doom!

"Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom! Save the planet from disaster!" This rather simplistic lyrics actually had a great impact on the game. Known only in American version of Sonic CD, sang by the band Pastiche at the title screen, became so iconic, that it was featured in Super Smash Bros Brawl for Wii, among other Sonic songs. The song wants you to run faster and faster, to save your friends and the world, while still keeping the "cool" attitude.

"Catch me if you can! You can't fathom that... Wonders you can't have." - The theme of Babylon Rouges, sang by the band Runblebee was good in the original Sonic Riders - a fast-paced song. The remixed version in Zero Gravity is even better. It was a bit hard to decipher lyrics in the original, but now, the song is slower and actually, very enjoyable.

"’Cause every night I still lay awake and I dream of an absolution." - Theme of Silver the Hedgehog from this VERY mediocre Sonic game, is a beautiful song, sang by Lee Brotherton aka Bentley Jones from Remix Factory. It describes Silver's feelings toward his close friend, Blaze the Cat. It has a classic disco feel, and when you sing it, you may want to change the past to alter your mistakes... if you ever made any, that is.

"Seven rings in hand, arrowed hearts catch fire now!" - Main theme of Sonic and the Secret Rings was written by Runblebee and performed by Steve Conte. The lyrics may be confusing in some places, but generally speaking, they describe the world of Arabian Nights and Sonic's journey through it. And, yes, it does play during the final boss battle ;) Just remember; "Make real of all that seems."

"Try to reach inside of me! Try to drain my energy! Let me show you just what I'm made of!" - The song that plays ONLY during final boss battle with Metal Overlord is a prelude to the dark music later developed by Crush 40 in Shadow the Hedgehog. As the song plays, you (Super Sonic with Tails and Knuckles) fight against the boss, trying to show him your power and "explain" to him "who I am and what I'm here for". Great song. Nuff' said.

"I see it, I see it. And now it's all within my reach! Endless possibilities!" - Sang by Jaret Reddick, the main theme of Sonic Unleashed is describing Sonic's perspective over his world. This fast song is extremely enjoyable when, for example. you're riding in train past vast plains - makes you wanna start humming or sing this song. An interesting fact: this song only plays during credits, but its orchestrated version plays during the finall boss battle with Dark Gaia.

"Live and learn! Hanging on the edge of tomorrow. Live and learn! From the works of yesterday." - Undoubtly one of Crush 40's greatest songs ever made, Live & Learn is the main theme of Sonic Adventure 2/Battle. This plays during the final boss battle with FinalHazard, where you control Super Sonic and Super Shadow, trying to stop the creature from colliding Space Colony ARK with Earth... If any Sonic song deserves a "masterpiece" status, this is one of main candidates!

"Close my eyes and feel it burn - Now I see what I've gotta do. OPEN YOUR HEART, IT'S GONNA BE ALL RIGHT!" - Probably the most recognizable Sonic song of all, Open Your Heart. The song's lyrics are somewhat character driven as it embodies the epic final battle between Super Sonic and Perfect Chaos. Johnny Gioeli's thundering voice is leading the band through the song, all for your hearing pleasure.

"As I sit, and as I stand, by the table I command my kingdom! I'm the Knight of the Wind!" - You may wonder, how come this song beats "Live & Learn" and "Open You Heart", as the best Sonic song? Simple - Crush 40 is back! They did had several song covers before SatBK, but in this game, they return in full glory. Actually, if it would be possible, I would make half of the list with songs only from SatBK, but as you probably know, it's impossible. All songs in the game are great, but this one stands above all. You can hear "Knight of the Wind" (or its fragments) throughout the game, and it's very enjoyable, and like many Sonic songs, it becomes even better when listened in motion.

So, there you have it. I hope you enjoyed the list. Have a nice day (if by any chance, you're listening to any Sonic song, enjoy it to the fullest) :D
