Top 10 Lists: The Top 10 Cats To Ever Grace A Game

Cats are amazing creatures, no not because they are fiendishly cute, nor the fact that they have nine lives Cats are also powerful predators and are a force to be reckoned with within the animal world. Egyptians also understood how important cats were and worshiped them. Cats can bring good and bad luck and are a favourable creature for budding witches. The appearance of cats in certain special titles has certainly brightened them up. These are the Top 10 Cats to Ever Grace a Video Game, ever.

Ok, to start off the list, a cat that gets more criticism than praise. It's Bubsy the Bobcat. Bubsy is a bobcat that tried to compete with Sonics speed. Unfortunately Busby’s gameplay was more frustrating than actually fun, as levels were rather ugly and uninspired. Bubsy, though, was quite a charming, yet a more repulsive than an endearing type of character, who had plenty of corny taunts, poses and more than enough catchphrases and gags to die for. It was a shame that his nine lives were used up so early on.

Evil the Cat is the ultimate evil cat. In fact he is evil incarnate; the embodiment of evil; the evilest of all evil entities to ever grace the world of video games. All he wants to do is cause pain to Jim and rule the world. He is one sadistic kitty and really knows how to dish out the dirt it out to our hero. Evil isn't afraid to leave his caws where they hurt the most either.

Felicia is a sexy female with the features of a cat. Felicia was an interesting character that could summon a bunch of cat girls to help as a special move. She's cute and cuddly, but I like her for her speed. Felicia is easily just as good a fighter as some of the toughest characters that dominate the world of fighting games. Chun-li, Sarah Bryant and Sophitia better move over because this cat won't pull any punches. Just watch out for her powerful swipe.

Juliette is a kick ass bear killer and mother, with mad shooting skills and razor sharp claws that would slash any opponent into kitty food. She's cool but has a short temper and is rather stubborn. She battles against a horde of dim witted bears and fiendishly tough puzzles in order to save her husband Claude and her children. Talk about complete devotion and love for her family. This kitty is the John Rambo of the cat world. Or should I say Juliette Rambo.

Red, or Nanaki, is the ferocious cat/lion from Cosmo Canyon. Red is a strong member of you team with amazing limit breaks and a strong attack and defence. He gained the name Red XIII from a scientist named Hojo who had been experimenting on him. Red faces many trials and learns many things on his journey with Cloud and is a valuable member and character of FFVII. Red also gets goody points because he can talk to humans and is rather intelligent. Not many other game cats have that privilege.

They had to be here. It is a game purely about raising cats after all. Yes, if you like cats and advanced tamagochis then this is the thing for you. You get to do all the hard work of raising the cat without the bad smells, and it’s cheaper, too. Oh, and when you get bored you can shut your kitty up by turning off your DS. Now that isn't something you could do with a real cat, so Catz already has one major benefit. Plus if you get sick of one cat, you can easily raise another, no extra cost.

First appearing in Suikoden IV and subsequently Suikoden Tactics. Technically, Chiepoo is a Nay-Kolbold, but he looks like a cat. Chiepoo ran away from his hometown when he was young because he aspires and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest merchant. Chiepoo is a very likeable character, and has decent magic power to boot. Chiepoo is a formidable character and is always useful right up until the end of Suikoden IV, and so he deserves to be listed as one of the greatest cats of all time. Chiepoo is the only character on the list to realise his dream.

Mimi was just an ordinary kitten in Shenmue. She doesn't have killer claws, or guns, and she can't run on two feet or talk. Shenmue gave you a chance as part of a small side quest to look after an injured Mimi. Mimi was very realistic; she looked like a real kitten, acted like a real kitten and was just as cute and delicate as a real kitten. You actually want to buy food for her, pet her and talk to her. If you follow the Mimi side quest, you can watch as Mimi gets better. Everyone has to love Mimi.

Kapu Kapus are the only dim-witted, mean cats on the list, but mice are vermin so are they really that evil? The Kapu Kapus terrorise the poor little Chu Chus (mice). Kapus job is to eat the Chu Chus in order to stop them from fleeing the planet on their rescue rockets. Kapu Kapus maybe dim witted, but they have a stomach the size of an abyss. Ever have mouse problems, call in a Kapu Kapu and watch as they chomp away and soon your rodent infestation will be no more. Mouse Mania is their favourite moments of the day. It's a time where they can feast on many hundreds of mice at one time. Now that is a cat I'd want in my home. Good kitty.

Pocket Monsters have the most awesome kitty critters ever to grace a game. You catch them and they'll do anything you ask them to. Unless you’re lacking in your trainer skills then they'll ignore you like the plague. There are many catlike Pocket Monsters in Pokémon, but there is one pocket monster that deserves all the praise and is by far the most recognised. Meowth is a special Pokémon that can battle, talk, walk on two legs and works for an evil criminal organisation hell bent on stealing and manipulating poor Pocket Monsters to get them to do their evil deeds. If that isn't enough, Meowth has the awesome ability 'Pay Day' that allows you to steals an opponent’s money. With a Meowth by your side you'll never go hungry.

There are many super cats of the gaming world, these are just a few. This list just proves that cats can not only be cute, but also collectable, fiery, crazy, vicious, dark, twisted, dim-witted, aggravating, smart, cool, suave, charming, sadistic and a whole lot more adjectives to boot. These cats make these games more alive, more vibrant and really add an energetic flavour to the mix. Cats are amazing creatures and deserve all the praise they claim. In the words of the great Tony Tiger, “They’rrrrrrrreeeee Great!"
