Top 10 Lists : The Top 10 Lies Told By Characters. *Spoilers*

Let's face it. We feel the need to lie sometimes, maybe to our friends, or even to our family members. Well in the fictional world, lies work the same way pretty much. Maybe lies can lead to a greater truth, or they can just be for fun, or plain bland that if anyone fell for it then their common sense is questionable. We can separate this top ten list to three subjects: the situation, the lie, and the result.

The Situaton: Your sister Tooty has been kidnapped by the evil witch! Your off to rescue her in this extremely large lair of self-absorbed selfish nature. *Seriously, the face of the owner is what the lair is on the outside.* As your travels lead you to various worlds, the witches words can enter your mind.

The Lie: Gruntilda claims that Tooty is fine being with her, and that if you'll leave her lair she'l set her free. Okay, well, this was certainly unexpected. If Banjo could perform a facepalm, I'm sure he would do that after hearing that quote.

The Result: Honestly there really is no result to this lie. Banjo continues unflinching into the self-absorbed lair and rescues his sister, smashes Gruntilda and traps her under a rock. Hey, it was worth a shot, wasn't t Grunty?

The Situation: You accidentally activate the new weapon, metal gear rex, and you have no idea why it happened! And then you get a call from your old friend Master Miller.

The Lie: It turns out that Master Miller was really Liquid Snake, your obsessed and strange brother, as well as, oh, only your arch-enemy. So you managed to slip so far as to let your own main bad guy slip into your codec list, diguised as someone else you know, while the real Master Miller you know has already been dead for three days.

The Result: Well Snake, your in a pickle aren't you? Well maybe not you, rather, the whole world. Liquid managed to not only fool you into thinking he was Master Miller, but he even got you to activate his nuclear weapon for him. If you had paid attention to certain parts of the game whenever you called Master Miller then maybe it would have been a bit more obvious. What, did you think he was in a moment of 'privacy' while times he didn't answer? Who cares about privacy, your in a battlefield! Call him, and if he doesn't answer, question it later. Liquid's little lie that grants him a nuclear weapon earns his place in this spot.

The Situation: The pirate Johnny loves woman, namely the cute ones. He finds one during his story mode and hits on her.

The Lie: As the title says, the lie is about the gender. The person Johnny is hitting on is in fact a boy. But the lie is only dragged on when the boy, Bridget, does not even bother to correct Johnny about his own gender. For this particular game, it takes another character from the game to tell him that he's really hitting on a guy.

The Result: Utter confusion. Johnny doesn't even realize that the person talking was referring to the 'girl' he was hitting on. He tries to ask before the fight, but no one bothers to correct him again. Johnny leaves, only to gain nothing. But hey, in his case, he may have been better off not knowing.

The Situation: It seems that our hero, Carl Johnson, is at the mercy of the officer controlling him, Tenpenny. With a shotgun in his hand, Tenpenny is about to finish off Carl and get away with all the drug money. Was does Carl do to save himself? Lie.

The Lie: Quite smart on Carl's part. He simply looked behind Tenpenny and yelled, 'Sweet!' His brother's name. This forces Tenpenny to turn around to check, but realize he wasn't even there. Frustrated, Tenpenny then shoots at Carl, who's lie gives him a chance to dodge.

The Result: For absolutely no reason at all, Tenpenny is so frustrated that he just sets the building on fire and runs off. You know if I were Tenpenny, I'd keep shooting at Carl while he still can't arm himself properly. Don't get mad just because you got fooled so easily, because getting mad affects your judgment, and guess what happens? Carl lives, Tenpenny doesn't. All because of one little fib.

The Situation: The smithy gang has taked over Bowser's keep! Desperate to win it back, Bowser teams up with Mario and friends to get his keep back. But in order to understand everything, we need to get to the bottom of the truth. How did Bowser, the mighty evil king of mushroom kingdom, have his own keep easily taken over under him?

The Lie: Bowser claims that he and his troops were on vacation. Come on, is that really the best you can come up with? I mean, I know its obvious to the player AND mario and his group, but let's think for a moment. How did Bowser think this excuse could even cover for the fact that he and mario were fighting just a few seconds before his keep got took over by smithy's gang, with peach as a witness?

The Result: Bowser hangs onto his massive pride as his lie succeeds, *or so he thinks* and he continues to support the group in restoring the world. Perhaps knowing how his keep was taken over wasn't really a big deal anway, likely just how to get it back was the main concern. But come on Bowser, maybe you could have said what really happened, and maybe someone would get some important information from it. What, your afraid of looking pathetic infront of mushroom kingdom? Who cares? Just kidnap the princess and all the toads will easily forget the fact that you actually opened up infront of your rival because they'll be running around in circles, panicking and screaming. Even Mario doesn't really care, he just wants you to stop kidnapping the princess. The cycle continues.

The Situation: After listening to the speech of the last boss while she slowly but surely dies, Leo is then confronted by a mysterious Orbital Frame.

The Lie: Leo asks if the pilot of the mysterious Orbital Frame is the boss of their organization. Offended, Nohman, the pilot of the Frame in question, replies negatively. Then, after a brief time/space teleport, and an evil laugh, he finally admits that he is indeed the 'boss' of the organization.

The Result: Nohman catches Leo off guard while his Frame completely overpowers Jehuty. Well, it would not have made a difference since Nohman's Anubis is already a hundred times better than Jehuty at this point of the game. Still, joking to the one who is constantly disrupting your evil plans seems to leave off a happy feeling. But come on Nohman, give Leo a break. I mean, he's just a kid. No need to be so ruthless and such a bully at the same time.

The Situation: In the midst of a life or death sneaking mission, Raiden finds a dirty book. He then recieves a call from Snake, one of his codec crew members.

The Lie: Snake asks what Raiden is holding right now. Raiden, looking down at the dirty book, claims that nothing is in his hand. Snake sees past his lie, but doesn't seem to blame him for lying.

The Result: An awkward moment. Our lives are on the line and we're actually bothering to worry about the fact that we picked up a dirty book. Hey, look at it this way Raiden, at least you can use it as a means to distract a guard so you can walk past him while the guard is absorbed into the girls on paper. Heck, you could even keep it as a souvenir and take it hope to remember your dangerous mission by- oh that's right you have a girlfriend. Well if you still plan on bringing it home I suggest you max out your rations before you finish the job. Some body armor wouldn't hurt either.

The Situation: Your best friend Colette seems to be acting strange. She's barely eating, not sleeping at all, and now she can't flinch whenever someone touches a serious bruise she gets. Maybe she's just stressed out from transforming into an angel slowly, so let's give her a nice drink and have a friendly discussion.

The Lie: Lloyd offers her a hot drink. He stresses how hot it is. Colette agrees. Lloyd then claims that its actually ice cold, having Genis make it cold for him. Colette stutters, but agrees yet again. Lloyd confirms that the drink is actually hot. So yeah, not smart on your part Colette.

The Result: Lloyd confirms that Colette has lost the ability to feel, as well as several other human needs mentioned earlier. Upon learning this he is outraged, and is even more so when Colette tries to dodge the questions with giggles and fake smiles. Also, you ruined a perfectly good mug, Colette. What if that was a gift from someone? Don't drop it just because your best friend just played you for a fool. Also, if your going to hide something, make up one story and stick to it.

The Situation: Dr. Light's robots start to go on a rampage! According to a video, shot by Dr. Wily, he even tries to convince Wily to join him in his quest for world domination!

The Lie: The whole video is a flat out lie. That isn't Dr. Light, its a machine that Dr. Wily made. Also, when the Robot Light offers to dominate the world with him, Wily claims that he's changed his evil ways.

The Result: Honestly, if I were Megaman or Roll or anyone else in Dr. Light's house, I'd say forget about the robot masters for now, just go for Wily. Come on, this is the 9th time that the world is being threatened! And who was one hundred and one percent responsible for the other 8 times? For crying out loud, there's no other villain out there who bothers to try to take over the world with robots in that world. Yet everyone outside Dr. Light's house seems to have completely fallen for Wily's lie, and even gets Dr. Light arrested. Only in the end does everyone realize that Dr. Light was innocent and Wily was, yet again, responsible.

Well we have a personal message for you, Dr. Wily! Fool us Nine times, shame on you. Fool us Ten or more times, shame on us! ...Wait a second.

The Situation: Marona's job was to clear the monsters out of Verdant Guardiana, so that the person whom requested the job to her could use the island to expand his medical business. After some exploring, she learns that the island is actually a home to innocent and mistreated creatures called Putties, who were transforming into monsters to protect their only home. Ironically enough, Marona could compare herself to the putties, being innocent yet mistreated all her life due to her powers. She does not complete the job, and has no choice but to report to the head of the medical business. Upon her arrival, the boss askes if she cleared the island of all the monsters. Not knowing what to say, has a brief moment of silence.

Being completely pure and honest, you would think that Marona would speak about what she found, and reveal why she felt the need to protect those putties, and hope the boss would grow a heart.

The Lie: Instead, Marona claims that the island was infested with extremely dangerous dragons. She claims that she nearly got eaten by the enormous beasts of the dragon infested island, and barely returned with her life. Heck she even threw in some examples, like three-headed lightning breathing dragons, etc.

The Result: Terrified, the boss gives up on using that island to expand his medical business. Nah, he didn't bother sending out a professional squad to examine the island, well not until way later. Instead, you could have just taken a close look at the person you hired when she came back. Did she look like she was gravely attacked? Does she have teeth marks or any other injuries? Also, she claimed that she was nearly eaten. You'd at least smell the bad breath of the dragon on her, after you would notice if there was dragon drool on her clothes. Way to let yourself be fooled by a 13 year old girl, who is literally the reincarnation of the term 'self-less' and any positive emotion, and her very first lie in her entire life.

No matter how many lies we tell, the truth always comes out one way or another. But just because we lie does not mean we're bad people. Same goes for video games. Sometimes we lie to protect something dear. Maybe we'll lie to trick our foe in the midst of battle. If it is a matter of life or death, you cannot consider yourself a bad person just because of a lie. If you do it for absolutely no reason for the laughs, then yes, you are a horrid person and people should hate you. Thanks for reading!
