Cell phones have come a long way. From the times when they were huge bulking masses strapped to your back during war times, to the crisp, clean "Retina Display" of today's iPhones, the cellular device has almost been a necessity for humanity. With the ever growing population commuting to and from work, school, and all over the place, people have been turning to their phones for entertainment on those rides as well. Sure, you could always watch a dog skateboarding on YouTube, or watch all the seasons of Roseanne on Netflix, or even zone out to the tunes on your iPod. Nothing helps you escape those long times of nothingness, though, like a good game. That is why if you have iOS, you shouldn't be without these 10 iOS games

Honorable Mention: Superbothers Sword & Sworcery EP - This is one of the most beautiful games ever. The soundtrack is epic, the concept is tremendous, and the overall experience is truly breath taking. The only reason it is not included in the top ten is that I recommend only playing it once as it is truly a once in a life time experience.

A long time staple of wasting time at home, at work, or on the john with your gameboy, Tetris made it's way over to the iPhone to satisfy those desires to destroy lines of blocks everywhere! from the ever familiar theme song to the addictive nature of crushing blocks, the additions of power ups such as spike balls, bubbles, hammers, and much more fit right in. This was the staple time waster for many years, and for many, it still is numero uno!

Rock Band was the epitome of rhythm based time wastes for many during college, but they could only do it in the comfort of their own dorm rooms. How does one tap away to a fake instrument to some of the best music this side of Hollywood? Enter: Tap Tap Revenge. With thousands of songs to tap your fingers to, it is no wonder why the rhythm franchise kind of died out in homes. It is on your phones now!

The iphone is home to many famous flightful creatures now. Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, Air Penguin. But none of them are chilaxin' as Tiny Wings. This little guy just wants to sleep and fly. The object is to get as far away from the setting sun as possible by sliding down steep hills, then launching your self into the beautiful sky and launching again. Repetitive? Sure. Aren't all games though? This game is no exception to being fun for hours doing the same thing.

How could anyone possibly take a huge horror game and possibly make it any good on a portable system, let alone a phone? This is where a lot of the dread came from with the announcement of what many thought was a sequel mobile cash in. Taking place between the first Dead Space and second Dead Space, this game is incredible. What might be one of the greatest action games on any portable device, Dead Space was able to capture the space zombie filled aloneness perfectly.

What the console based first person adventure lacked was nothing. But, what about those that wanted to take a perfect console adventure on the go? Taking the console perfected first person mode, and changing it into the portable perfected side scrolling mechanic. This game is essentially the perfect adventure game for the iOS and it has some of the most well done music and beautiful character models for the iOS.

What do gamers love? Games. What do gamers know about the creation of games? Generally, nothing. Game Dev Story allows you the chance to control a video game company and create the ultimate game. This The Sims  variation gives you the reigns and make the best action animal ninja game ever, lets you go to all of the game conventions, takes you through the yearly game awards ceremonies, and ultimately become the best game company ever, in the palm of your hands. It also has some of the cutest sprites who are worked too hard ever!

This heralded tower defense game only makes sense on the go. Inorder for you to survive, you deploy you army of flowers, vegetables, and sprouts to stave off the zombie apocalypse just one more day. In this too cute rendition of the end of the world, the games are the perfect amount of time for that 15 minute break at work or that 35 minute adventure to the store (preferrably while you are the passenger). Plus, there are so many unlockable plants for your army, and so many new variations to your enemies the farther you get, you will probably be playing this one until the real end of days.

Angry Birds started a revolution on the iOS. With the addictive formula of destroying those evil pigs, these puzzles are the perfect short term escape while you have nothing else to do. The screams of the birds being flung through the air to destroy the evil pig armies stronghold to get your eggs back is the reason many people started gaming on the iOS, and it remains to this day, one of the reasons to stay with this more action oriented sequel to the original.

THIS IS THE PERFECT PUZZLE GAME! The too adorable Om Nom is left on your door step, and you have to care for him (her?) by feeding him (her?) all sorts of junk food. The food is dangled above or floating below Om Nom, and it is your job to get the snacks to him (her?). The mind bending challenges will keep you entertained forever. Side note: this is the only award winning game on the iOS.

This is truly the greatest iOS game ever created. The gorgeous aesthetic is on par with some of the best console games, and the lightning fast action that takes place in this medival sword swinging epic is enough to keep you drooling on the subway for many, many rides. The story is also really good here as well. You are set to take out the king and replace him, and if you don't, your journey continues with your ancestors. The story forks off into different directions as well and has many different endings that will keep you going. With the recent multiplayer added, and the ability to customize your character with your sword, shield, aromor, rings, and helmets, you will want to keep this one on your iPhone forever.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this list and hope this sways you to play these tremendous games for many years to come and as always, keep on gaming!
