Top 10 Lists: The Top 10 Most Strange Yet Loveable Characters Ever

It has happened to all of us. We have been through a game that is great, but then all of a sudden we come across this extremely strange and bizarre character. They make no sense whatsoever and if a person like this were to be met in real life, most people would turn their heads in disgust, yet in the game, we learn to love these characters. This Top 10 list is in honor of those characters.

Honestly, did they really need to stereotype THAT much when creating Barret? It helps when he is a big, strong man who doesn't seem to understand anything that is too complicated, and he curses so much that he would make everybody else cower in fear. To add to this he even is censored for some cuss words when other characters are not! AND WHO THE HECK HAS A GUN AS PART OF THEIR ARM? Barret struck me as a strange character from the first time i saw him all the way to the end.

She was huge. She couldn't even fit in her own throne. She had a creepy grin. She was a good guy (or girl I suppose) as well. Seeing her gave me nightmares, yet she was always there for a good laugh.

A male fairy in tights that don't even fit him. He doesn't have wings, he has an ugly nose and has a protruding belly. Don't forget that he is 30+ years old and is really human! He is very very strange but the reason why he isn't higher on the list is probably because he was more frightening to most people rather than loveable. Kooloo-LIMPAH!

Ah yes the great Wario, who has become a well known Nintendo character. In his debut in SML2, he was similar to Queen Bean, so fat, yet had such a tiny throne. He took up a good amount of the screen and it was a wonder Mario was able to defeat him at all. Wario's vulgarity and teachings of negative morals (greed for example) is very different from Nintendo's norm, yet everybody loves Wario. How can you not? He is yellow after all and his moustache beats Mario's anyday.

He had a voice that could be annoying, he was a big headed alien (easier to kill accidentally), he was small so his head would always be in your line of sight, yet if he ever talked, you would fall in love with him. Any alien who makes jokes about the size of his own head must be commended.

Honestly, for how depressing Xenogears was, it is understandable to have some sort of comic relief, but a pink happy go lucky furball that bears a very close resemblance to a Furby? Was that necessary? Yet you couldn't help but love the little thing. And this may be a *!!spoiler!!* so be warned, but seeing the cute little creature grow to monstrous size and pummel some gears was exceptionally odd. This strange little puffball very much deserves its spot at number 5.

He is a smart-mouthed alien who goes around with the objective of obliterating humanity. Why do we love him then? Is it his glroiously strangely destructive yet extremely satisfying weapons? Or maybe it is his witty comments? How about his strange uses of telepathic powers? It is likely a combination of all of these powers, but most people fell in love with Crypto from the moment he starting talking to the leader on the Mothership, and how can one not?

Almost everything in M&L:SS was hilariously strange yet awesome, but Fawful was just exceptional. His wit was beyond hilarious, and yet he never seemed to have any real significance besides just being a henchman. He was never completely evil, just insane, and that was just more reason to love him. Fawful most definately deserves the top 3. I HAVE FURY!

This was a hard decision, to decide between Luigi or Toadsworth. I finally decided for Luigi, just because he was around much more so he had more funny moments. Luigi is frankly, the biggest scaredy cat ever, and he would likely be dead if not for his brother, yet he has great potential as well. Something must have happened to him around the Luigi's Mansion time period that had just turned him into this great big wimp, yet he always sticks by Mario's side (rather reluctantly at times). It is a wonder at first how he became like that, but couple with his being scared from Luigi's Mansion onwards, he probably traumatized his poor baby self. He never fails to be clumsy and yet he is a great fighter. How does this work? Who knows and who cares, it is Mario's brother after all...that...green guy, what's his name now? In the words of the great Luigi himself: BYE BYE!

Anybody that knows about HK-47 understands why he is number one. His strangeness is beyond comprehension but so is his loveability (if that is even a word). A droid who compulsively wants to kill anything that moves, and likes to call living creatures 'organic meatbags.' His comments never cease to amaze and even though he is so violent and 'evil,' one can't help but love him. There is not a moment that I have seen him without laughing. HK-47 will always hold a special place in my heart.

I must admit coming up with all of these characters was difficult, more like narrowing them down was difficult. I had about 30 in mind for the top 10 and many more in mind that qualified under the category of 'Strange yet Loveable,' and this is only from my limited game library as well. I would like to give a special honorable mention to Poo from Earthbound, since he was VERY close to making the top 10. Otherwise I hope everybody agrees (and disagrees) with my list, and hats off to the creators of all of these characters, you guys (and gals if it applies) are brilliant.
