Tetris Blast
Review by OOPRCT
"Ever thought that in Tetris, the lines blow up instead of dissappear? They do now."
Tetris Blast, another game based of Alexy Patrinov's creation, Tetris. However, unlike the other horrible remakes (Tetris 2? Ick), this game isn't bad, in fact, I like it better than the original Tetris, but this game is quite obscure so you're going to need some Ebay to find this game.
Graphics: 7/10
Tetris Blast was released for the monochrome GB, and it's Tetris, Tetris doesn't need good graphics, saying Tetris needs good graphics is like saying the Final Fantasy plot is always different.
Sounds/Music: 8/10
The sounds for Tetris Blast are good, it has the flipping and rotating sounds, and it has some catchy music too, nothing special, however, but you might get a song or two stuck in your head while playing this on a road trip or a long wait.
Gameplay: 10/10
If Tetris set the bar for puzzle games, Tetris Blast broke the bar on it's amazing features, which included Tournament Mode, where the blocks are predetermanatly set on the field and you have to clear it off, I like to think Tournament Mode as a mode where someone messed up your field and you have to fix it. Then there's practice mode. Practice mode is a perpetual mode where it plays like the original Tetris, except that you still have to clear lines with bombs, which brings me to my next point. Lines in Tetris Blast aren't cleared because you filled a line, you need bomb peices for it to dissappear, so if you had no bomb peices in a line, it'll stay there. But, if you just have one or two bomb peices, the line still wont dissappear, so you'll ned about four to six bomb peices, if you make a 2x2 bomb peice, you'll make a big bomb, which clears more spaces. Finally, there's Battle Mode, where you have a critter on your feild and you have to destory it by either blowing it up, crushing it with tetrads, or clearing the field, however, this is not an easy task as the creatures can go through blocks, eat blocks, eat bomb peices, and add lines. This mode is excellent and challenging, and there's one creature that has a suggestive move where it craps (yes craps as in fecate) blocks onto your field.
Overall:
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 8/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Overall (averaged) - 7/10
Closing Statement-
Get Tetris Blast if you loved Tetris and wanted something more in it. Tetris blast with soothe the needs for wanting more in a Tetris game
