WWF War Zone
Review by Ollie The Magic Bum
"It's no wonder Acclaim is out of business now..."
You have to love Acclaim. They're the company with a ton of wrestling games and 2 (technically 3) engines. You'd think they'd come up with something new after a while. Nah, they didn't. That could explain why they're bankrupt now. This game is identical to the other portable wrestling games that they have produced.
Graphics
---
They're black and white, and they're not pretty. (Although I suppose if you use a GBC to play this it'd be a little bit better...) The wrestlers don't resemble themselves at all. Kane doesn't even have a red tint to him or something resembling a mask. The wrestler select screen displays the Acclaim standard nice pictures of each wrestler. They look good for being in grayscale. The finishing move animations look good for what they are. The regular moves don't look as good, but they work. (They're all used in ECW Hardcore Revolution too.)

Gameplay
---
Boy oh boy... this game is DAMN frustrating. When you're on the mat rolling around, the CPU will corner you and repeatedly stomp you into oblivion. There's no way out of it. In a very rare occurrence, you'll stand up, only to be met with a clothesline. It's annoying. As usual, this is on easy. Thanks a lot for this one Acclaim. The finishing moves are complicated to pull off, in true Acclaim fashion. The cage matches feel like a confined singles match. There's nothing really special about them at all. They're just like any other match, except there's 2x the annoyance.

Sound
---
There's no reason why you'd want to hear the repetitive crappy music coming from your GameBoy. I truly believe that if you listen to it long enough, your ears will bleed. It's atrocious. And to make things worse, it's the SAME annoying song throughout the game and menus. GAH

Replayability
---
Simply put, there isn't any. You can take each character through Challenge mode, but that's it. Don't know why anyone would wanna play it more than a few times.

BUY OR RENT?
---
Neither one. GameBoy games can't be rented, and this game just sucks. Don't waste your time or money on it.
