Welcome to my guide for Rekishi Nendai Anki Point 240 ! This is a Game Boy Completion Project guide. The authors writing for the GB Completion Project hope to one day have a complete FAQ for every Game Boy game listed in the GameFAQs database. If you want more information, check out the stickied Game Boy Completion Project topic on the FAQ Contributors Board.
Although speculation, it appears that Rekishi Nendai Anki Point 240 is a game for teaching history, likely the history of Japan. The '240' within the name implies that there are a total of 240 important historical events that the game teaches about. The game is used to aid people in remembering years that particular events occurred, with either a hint for what the event may be accompanying each year given, or giving the event and requiring the player to provide the year that it occurred. Players must try and guess what the event is that corresponds with the given year. It uses a self-marking honesty system.
This guide intends to provide the reader with information on how to navigate the game. I hope it proves to be helpful and informative.
Once you reach the main menu, you have a number of options. The first option is 'Practise' where you can go over the 240 events in the game, including which year each occurred. The second is 'Set Test', where you can test yourself on a set of 20 events. The third is 'Custom Test', where you can test yourself on as many as you like. The fourth is 'Options', where you can change the background music, sound effects and the order in which information for a given sight word appears.
Pressing 'B' during any menu, except events cards, will immediately take you back to the main menu.
If you select 'Practise', you'll be asked which event card, between 1 and 241, you'd like to begin at. Once you've selected a number between 1 and 241, select 'End' and you'll proceed to that given card. Once an event card is displayed, press right or 'A' to move to the next card, or press left to move back to the last card. Card 1 follows Card 241, so the cards loop infinitely.
Practise cards display both the year, hint and information. The number indicates the year of the event. It it's preceded by numbers, it means that it's 'B.C.'. So if it displayed some characters followed by '776', that would indicate that the event occurred in 776 B.C. If no characters precedes it, it means that the year is in A.D. The line below the year is the hint and the lines below that are the actual information of the event.
use this mode to memorise events. If you want to exit back to the main menu at any time from an event card, simply press 'B' and select the 'Yes' option. You'll up wind back at the main menu. That's really all there is to it.
Set Test Menu
The 'Set Test' menu is a little different to the Practise one. You're shown 20 card sets. They are listed below:
|Starting Card in Set||Starting Year|
You'll only be able to see half the sets, but you can press right to see the other half. Select one and you'll open up the first event card of the set. Depending on what option you've chosen in the Options menu, either the year and hint or the event will be displayed first. Press Down to display the rest of the information, after guessing the year or event. If you get it correct, press 'A' to proceed to the next card. If you get it wrong, press left or right to turn the 'O' in the top right corner (meaning correct) to an 'X' (meaning incorrect) and press 'A' to proceed to the next card. Once all cards in the set have been attempted. Any incorrect cards will then be revisited continually until you've got them all correct.
Once a set is completed you return to the set menu and can select another set. If you want to exit out of a set at any time, simply press 'B' and select 'Yes'. Press 'B' at the set menu to return to the main menu.
Custom Test Menu
Here you can select a test of any given length. First select the card that you wish to start at (must be a number between 1 and 241) and then the card you wish to finish at (must be a number larger than the first one but still within the range of 1 to 241). Once you've done that, select 'End' and you'll be taken to your first card.
Testing works the same way to a Set Test, except that 'Incorrect' is selected by default and you must change it to 'Correct' if you correctly guess the event/year. Once you've tested yourself on the set cards, you'll be shown how you did. You'll be given a mark out of the best mark possible and the time in minutes and seconds along the bottom of the screen. You can then test yourself on another set of cards if you so wish to.
If you've selected to randomise the order of the cards by selecting to do so in the Options Menu, then the selected set of cards will appear in a random order. As always, if you want to exit out of a set at any time, simply press 'B' and select 'Yes'.
You have four options here. The first is the order in which you want information displayed in tests. The default order is the hint and year displayed first and the event information displayed after pressing 'down'. Changing the option causes the event information to display first. This allows you to test yourself on either whether you can remember the date of a particular event, or what event occurred in the year given.
The second option is whether you wish to randomise the card set selected when doing a 'Custom Test'. The default is not to randomise the cards. If you select to though, the selected set of cards will appear in a random order.
The third option is sound effects. Turning it on will mean that you can here the cursor move as you move between options on the various menus. If you turn it off, these sounds won't be heard. The final option is Background Music (BGM). You can either have it off, or choose one of the four tracks.
