Battletoads / Double Dragon
Review by Arguro
"It's Battletoads on the go!"
Battletoads & Double Dragon is a great cross over game between those toads that fight the bad guys and those dudes that fight those bad guys. You get five different characters to choose from thanks to the addition of Billy and Jimmy from the Double Dragon series. To make it better, it's the exact same game as the SNES game of the same name but on the Gameboy so you can play it on the go. It's also easier than the SNES counterpart therefore making it more fun.
Game Play
It's Battletoads. It's Double Dragon. It's Battletoads & Double Dragon. A combination of some of the era's favorite beat 'em ups. This time you are on a ship in outer space beating up the bad guys. There isn't a whole lot to describe here. It's done so flawlessly. Each level is a different aspect of the ship and you get to do different things. There are hidden one ups all over the place along with other bonuses so you never get bored playing. A simple beat 'em up on the Gameboy and it plays very well. The boss battles are challenging but not impossible which adds to the fun.

Graphics
The graphics are pretty good. The levels are detailed nicely. The enemies are varied and look evil. The battletoads (Rash, Zitz, and Pimple) all look different as well as Jimmy and Billy. They each have their own little animated finishing punch that looks pretty sweet. The backgrounds are detailed nicely and change with every level so it never gets boring to look at. Everything looks as it should with no "what the heck is that thing?" going on in the back of your mind. The graphics are on the high end for a Gameboy game.
Score 10
Controls
Nothing complicated here. One button punches, one button jumps. The controls are very responsive which is good because rapid punching will occur. The directional pad moves flawlessly as well. The controls are not overly sensitive. Nothing spectacular but not bad by any means. Not much can be said really.
Score 8
Sound
Gameboy games are not well known for their sound. Being a hand held that is over 15 years old, you can't expect much out of a Gameboy's speaker. This isn't exactly true here. The sound is decent but not spectacular. It's very repetitive. While it is clear and crisp, the music repeats. The punching sound effects get annoying after a while. After long sessions of playing this game, you will want to listen to anything but the music as it repeats too much.
Score 6
Definitely a must have for all beat 'em up fans as well as all Gameboy fans. Same game as the SNES version but much easier but not too easy. Grab this game if you have the chance.
Pros:
1. Great crossover series.
2. Easier than the SNES version
3. Looks just like the SNES version (without the color of course)
Cons:
1. Sound is repetitive
Final Score 8.5 rounded up = 9
