"What the hell is going on here?"

This game gets one point for booting up when I turned on the Gameboy switch...that's about it. I couldn't even make it off of the first stage in the first level because my stupid caveman couldn't jump high enough! There's only two buttons on a gameboy (well technically four, counting the select and start buttons) and NONE of them were making my job any easier. Start is your typical pause button, and select does nothing. Also one button serves as your attack, and the other as your jump. Maybe my problem was associated with my Gameboy, but I doubt it, as I played another game just fine right after I threw my copy of Chuck Rock across the room. Unfortunately, the game did not explode into a million when it made contact with my bedroom wall.

I'll tell you what I DO know about this horrible excuse for a game, just from playing the first level. You jump, and you hit(? -- I'm not sure if he was actually hitting the enemies, or just bashing into them with his stomach) strange little dinosaurs and extremely annoying hands that pop out of trees and throw rocks at your caveman. Actually, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't actually kill the hands, and therefore I ended up killing my caveman over and OVER and OVER again. On top of that, the monotony of trying to make the same jump over and over also began to grate on my nerves, and eventually, I gave up and cursed the gods above for ever setting this steaming pile in front of my eyes.

Whoever made this game was apparently smoking a pound of crack everyday, because nothing was right about this game...well, the first ''world'' -- sorry. If you ever see this game used, by all means don't waste your time on it. Don't even take it if you see it lying in a gutter...just leave it where it was and act as if you never saw it. You'll curse the day that you spent even 10 minutes playing this trash.

There is always the one simple rule to remember when making a video game, and the people who made the abomination that is Chuck Rock clearly forgot all about it -- cavemen just aren't meant to be heroes, especially on the Gameboy.

If you really want to play an action title on your Gameboy, you could certainly do a lot better -- play Adventure Island if you want a somewhat ''primitive'' flavor with dinosaurs and palm trees.
