"This game makes me glad I never saw the movie..."

Cliffhanger is just plain bad. Really really bad. I'm not joking when I say this. Bad graphics, bad controls, bad story, bad everything. Well I can't say bad everything. There is one semi good point to the game but you'll have to read on to find out what. Anyways like I was saying Cliffhanger was a waste of 25 of my grandmother's dollars. I was at the mall with her and complained until she bought it for me. I'm gonna pay her that money back some day because this game was a big waste. Anyways enough of my rambling and on to the game. The basic story is that you've been dropped into some mountains or something. I don't even know. Go watch the movie if you really want to know. On to the review...

Gameplay 1/10: Ouch. This hurts. When I review Gameplay in a game I review how fun it is and how difficult it is. Well this game just bombs in both categories. It's difficulty is through the roof! Tedious jumps, rabid dogs, and snow balls make this game far to difficult and make it pointless to play. Every single jump is damn near impossible. Either the jumps are to far and it takes running out to the very edge of the cliff to make it or having to figure some way across an impossible gorge. Turns out you need to climb across the ropes but the ropes just look like wavy black lines going across the screen so you don't have much of an idea just what they are. I'll get more into that in Graphics. Anyways another part of the difficulty is the enemies. Birds, dogs, and assorted other baddies make things to difficult. You try and jump one of those impossible jumps and a bird flies into you! You try running to make a jump and a dog runs at you! With a difficulty this high the game just isn't fun. How is falling down constant gorges and getting hit by birds fun? It's just not.

Control 3/10: Oi yai yai. Not good. Like I mentioned earlier jumps are not easy nor fun. The controls are to stiff when you try and jump. Running and walking are but attacking and jumping is pretty pathetic. Kicking an enemy is pretty weak. His legs are to short for God's sake! The dogs will run straight through you before you can kick them! Same goes for the birds which if you haven't already figured out are my least favorite enemy. Oh well what cha gonna do?

Sound 8/10: Saved the game from getting a 1. Everything sounds semi well actually. Nice music makes up for the bad gameplay, controls, graphics, and replayability. Well then again not really. For an old Gameboy game this sounds pretty decent. Tunes aren't that repetitive and don't sound small. Sure these aren't wonderful but they aren't half bad. Well now that I've reviewed the only good part of this game back to the normal bad parts...

Graphics 2/10: He's small. The birds are small. The dogs are small. The spikes at the bottom of the pits are big! Noticing a problem? Everything is either completely undersized or completely oversized! Not to mention that a lot of things are out of proportion. The character you play as (I don't even remember his name. It's been so long sine I played this game and the cartridge is broken.) is only slightly smaller than the buildings! THE BUILDINGS!!!!!!!! Why is he only a little smaller than the buildings???????? GOD END THE INHUMANITY!

Replayability 0/10: If you've got enough stamina to actually finish the game then you're not going to want to waste another 3 years of your life playing it again. I never even finished it I got so aggravated! There's no save system! Argh no save system! NO SAVE SYSTEM! How can you actually want to play through this game once? Forget about twice.

Buy or Rent: Well I doubt you can rent it. I also doubt you'll be able to buy it. But if both were possible I would tell you to just avoid the game altogether. It's not worth 3 dollars for a rental or 25 dollars of your grandmother's money (sorry g ma).

Well everyone there you have it. A bad game that would've got a 1 if not for the sound...
