"It may sound odd but this game is HOT."

Wheee Snow Bros. is FUN, I loved to play this game on Arcades, it was one of my favourites, it is one of those games everyone likes to play one time and another, one of those games that are as simple as fun.

Gameplay 10/10:
Probably Snow Bros. was made because of the success of games like Bubble Bobble, because the gameplay is very similar.
The game has 50 stages and in each one our mission is to exterminate all the enemies on the screen. If in Bubble Bobble we were able to “shoot” bubbles here our snow brothers are able to throw shiny things (I say things because they aren’t snowballs as you may imagine) that turn enemies into snowballs, but we need to throw a nice amount of these things, it is not like in Bubble Bobble where one bubble was enough to get them. Once they become snowballs we can kick them and kill other enemies with them to obtain items, or kill them only by turning them into snowballs, but that way we wont get items.
The stages are made in the same way than in Bubble Bobble, there are platforms where the enemies walk doing their things and we have to go up and down avoiding their attacks.

Something different from Bubble Bobble is that here we have more items to help us, the most important items are the potions, as the Game Boy lacks colours, the potions in this version aren’t green, red, blue and yellow, this time they have a different shape, it is a bit hard to identify them correctly, but their effects are the same, we have one that enhances our shoots so that the enemies turn into snowballs more quickly, then another one that makes us move faster, another one that increases our shoot range, and with the last one (the green one in the Arcade version), we become a big and invincible floating snowman and we have to kill as much enemies as we can while the effect lasts. There are some other items but they only give us points.

Also unlike Bubble Bobble where there was only one boss, here there is one boss after ten stages, they are smaller due to the Game Boy limitations, but they are the same from the original version.

Something different from the Arcade version are some weird drawings shown after defeating a boss (they probably explain the game's plot, but I don’t know exactly because I have never beaten the game entirely due to the difficulty). Also there is a little bonus game that it wasn’t in the Arcades, these are minor improvements anyway, the main game remains unaltered because all the stages are the same from the Arcade.

Graphics 7/10:
The graphics are good, they are very similar to the Arcade version only that without backgrounds, the Arcade game didn’t have remarkable graphics, they were simple but very nice, and the same happens with this version, simple but good enough.

Music 5/10:
The music is again somehow similar to the Arcade version, it is nice but sometimes gets a little bit annoying because all of them are very similar and only change after clearing ten stages, there is not that much variety, but it is ok anyway.

Conclusion:
I don’t know why people underrates this game so much, the original version was extremely entertaining, and this Game Boy version, even if it lacks the wonderful two player option, is a perfect game for the system, it is very fun and addictive and the challenge is excellent, if you liked Bubble Bobble you will love this game because I think that it is even better, deeper and more entertaining. An unfairly underrated classic.

”My lack of vocabulary and grammatical errors (if there’s any) are because I’m not from an English speaking country, sorry about that.”
