"The aliens are back!"

Space Invaders was a classic arcade game made back in 1977. It makes for a decent Game Boy game as well, but it does feel a little dated.

Graphics: 4/10

Nothing spectacular. It's just the same old graphics from before basically, with very little changes, if any. Also, don't even try to play this game on a monochrome Gameboy. It's just too difficult.

Sound: 5/10

Nothing that great here either. They try to mimic the ones that were used in the arcade version, but they don't do the best job of doing so. It's not really worth listening to, and you'll probably find yourself turning the volume down (I hear it saves battery power anyway.)

Gameplay: 7/10

It's the same classic game you remember playing in the arcades all the time as a kid (not that I did, I'm just making a statement. Work with me here!) You have a swarm of aliens coming down to destroy you. The are all nicely lined up, with the ones giving you the least amount of points in the front, to the ones giving you the most points in the back. You must destroy every single alien to reach the next stage. They can shoot at you, and they can close in on you. The aliens move side to side. Once they reach the edge of a side, they move down a notch. You must blast them down before they reach you. The speed of the aliens begins to increase after you kill more and more of them. Each level shortens the length between you and the aliens, and it also makes the aliens move faster right from the beginning. It's a pretty addictive game, and a nice travel game if you have a Gameboy Color.

The challenge is very high. The game is pretty difficult from the start, and the levels don't get any easier as you go along.

The replay value depends on how much you like the game.

Overall 6/10

Galaga/Galaxian is a better bet, but if you can't find it than this game should be good enough
