(May 3ird, 2005) Note for all:
I'm very sorry on not having the guide done within my one week policy. I try
to get a Super mario FAQ done a week. I was busy on the Monday to Thursday
as I was away on a harsh walking camp. I did over 90km of walking and it was
a very harsh walking track, the weather sucked. So Friday was my night off
and Saturday, well I couldn't be bothered really because I was playing the
     game through again.

Today, Tuesday, the guide was finally completed.

     Latest Update
Worlds 3-4 were completed and the guide finished.

     Dedication
This guide is dedicated to Humanvegetableonline for all the laughs and the
inspiration for me to get off my butt and write some guides!

     1. Introduction
Hello gamers from across the globe and welcome to my walkthrough for "Super
Mario Land" for the Gameboy. My name is Richard but I am also known as
"ImationM320". My first name should be sufficent.

I am currently writing guides for old games to fulfil a goal. Read about my
goal in the "About Me" Section.

I hope that this guide is of use to you and it helps you in a classic and
     fun Mario game!

     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     2. About the game
The plumber goes right into a hand held system! As usual you're off on another
adventure to save another princess. This time her name is Daisy and you're
not saving her from Bowser (dang. I was hoping to own him again)

Nope, this time it's a mysterious monster from outer space called Tatanga.
This Tatanga wants to marry the princess and rule the world. So poor old Mario
is off on another adventure to save the princess.

You'll be fighting through four worlds known as Birabuto Muda, Easton,
and Chai. Three phases in each. Adds up to 12 levels. Woo.

Now rather than be quick and fly to Tatanga, Mario's taking the long way and
he's collecting the cash as he goes. Hey he's a guy so who's to blame right?

So here we are. It's another world winning adventure. Don't fail us Mario!
     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     3. About Me
What can I say, I'm a 15 year old gamer with some free time and a strong will
     to play video games.

This game was made when I wasn't alive. But I'm the lucky one and purchased
the game when I was a little kid.
Why am I writing a guide for this game? I have a goal to fulfill on GameFAQs.
My goal is to write a guide for EVERY game that is based around Mario. No
Donkey Kongs or Donkey Kong JR but nearly ALL the Mario games from the 1980s
     to the year 2000!

Sounds like a crazy goal? Not to me. To me it sounds like a good opportunity
to show my apperciation for such a fantastic and entertaining game series!

Over time I will hope to have FAQs for the following Mario Games:

     Mario Brothers - Atari 2600
Super Mario Brothers - Famicom Disc System
Super Mario Brothers II - Famicom Disc System
Super Mario Land - Gameboy (Which you're reading now!)
Super Mario Land 2 - Gameboy
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land - Gameboy
     Super Mario Kart - SNES
     Super Mario World - SNES
Super Mario Brothers III - SNES
     Super Mario 64 - Nintendo 64
     Mario Kart 64 - Nintendo 64

As you can see that will take me quite some time and I will slowly be filling
     through that list.

     5. Controls
Below is the listing of controls for this game:

Directional Pad: Moves Mario. If you're big Mario, press down to duck. If you
any size Mario, pressing down on certain pipes allows you
to enter that pipe. Pressing left/right in mid air will allow
you too change your jump direction.

A button: + Jump, Hold it to jump higher.

+ Shoots Missiles/Torpedoes. Hold for continuous fire.

                + Shoot fireballs

+ Shoots missiles/torpedoes. This is only single shot fire though,
                  not continuous.

     6. Enemies
This game would be nothing without the enemies! These pests make the game hard
and fun! Below is a paragraph about each enemy. Many thanks to Efrem Orizzonte
for the awesome enemy information. He's a legend for it.

     ---------
     -Batadon-
     ---------

A flying stone statue. They come from above. It bounces over floors and the
platforms. It can even bounce through platforms if you're standing on the
     platform and he's below you.

They make appearances in World 3.1 and 3.3.
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with fireballs.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     --------
     -Bunbun-
     --------

A bee that flies around and stops regularly. It drops these vertical spears so
keep well away from the bee when it stops. However some will fly at ground
level so simply jumping over them can save you.

They make an appearance in World 1.2
To defeat them, simply jump on them or shoot a single fireball at them.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     ---------
     -Chibibo-
     ---------

A very small and very weak mushroom. Very slow too so they are easy to kill.

     They make appearances in World 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 2.1, 2.2, 4.1, and 4.2
To defeat them, simply jump on them or shoot a single fireball at them.
Killing one will give you 100 points.

     --------
     -Chiken-
     --------

This pesky bird flies towards you and moves in a circular motion to hit you
if he missed with its primary attack.

They make an appearance in World 4.3
To defeat them, shoot one missile at them.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     ---------
     -Chikako-
     ---------

An armoured bright thing in the way up in the clouds. It moves slightly up
     and down.

They make an appearance in World 4.3
To defeat them, shoot ten missiles at them.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     -----
     -Fly-
     -----

A fly (who couldn't have guessed?) that jumps back and forth. These things are
easy to kill but are annoying as they like to lurk underneath platforms.

They make an appearance in World 1.1
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     ---------
     -Ganchan-
     ---------

Falling rocks from the sky. They bounce off the floor so you can jump on them
for a free ride. Sometimes necessary to cross spike fields invincible. Handy.

They make an appearance in World 3.1 and 3.3
There is no known way to kill them.
They offer no points as you cannot kill them.

     -----
     -Gao-
     -----

A sphinx that does not move but shoots fireballs. It can aim up and down and
it can shoot behind itself. Quite annoying so stay away from them.

They make an appearance in World 1.3
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     ------
     -Gira-
     ------

Missiles shot from a cannon. The cannons come out of pipes and you can step on
the missiles to access new heights. There are always more than two in each
part so it makes things very frustrating. A good example is world 4.1.

They make an appearance in World 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, and 4.2
To defeat them, jump on them.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     --------
     -Gunion-
     --------

An octopus that doesn't move. It just sits there. If you hit it enough times,
it divides into two balls that will come at you.

They make an appearance in World 2.3
To defeat them, fire three torpedoes at them.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     -------
     -Honen-
     -------

A fish consisitng of just bones. It jumps out of the water in a vertical
movement. Far to easy to kill.

They make an appearance in World 2.1 and 2.3
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with one torpedo.
Killing one will give you 100 points.

     ------
     -Kumo-
     ------

A hairy spider that jumps around like the flies. Annoying and disgusting to
look at. They always show up on tricky jumps between narrow platforms.

They make an appearance in World 3.2
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     ---------
     -Nokobon-
     ---------

A small turtle who's shell is a bomb. Stomping on it will let the bomb explode
two or three seconds later. If you shoot it with fireballs, the bomb does not
explode. This is easily the most commonly found enemy as it appears in all but
     two levels.

     They make an appearance in World 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 4.1
                                      and 4.2
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 100 points.

     ----------
     -Nyololin-
     ----------

A snake that sits in the same position and spits out fireballs in every single
direction and the fireballs can go through platforms too. They are dangerous
as they are usually sitting upon higher platforms then the one you are on.

They make an appearance in World 4.2
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     ---------------
     -Pakkun Flower-
     ---------------

The traditional pirahna that pops out of various pipes. If you are in contact
with the pipe, it can not pop out.

     They make an appearance in World 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, and 4.2
To defeat them, shoot them with a single fireball.
Killing one will give you 100 points.

     --------
     -Pionpi-
     --------

Hard and annoying. From a glance they kind of look like people riding camels
so I'll just call them camel riders. They jump here and there in groups of
two or three with other enemies with it. Jumping on it will give points but
the Pionpi will regenerate. Only fireballs can kill it.

They make an appearance in World 4.1
To defeat them, shoot them with a single fireball.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     ---------------
     -Pompom Flower-
     ---------------

A large walking flower that routinely stops to spit out a fireball which will
fly vertically. The fireball can also pass through platforms.

They make an appearance in World 4.2
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot a fireball at them.
Killing one will give you 800 points.

     ---------
     -Roketon-
     ---------

A small plane that will shoot cannonballs at you. It can fire backwards if it
has too. They are not that dangerous but will attack in groups with other
enemies and it is possible to be hit in the chaos.

They make an appearance in World 4.3
To defeat them, shoot them with a single missile.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     -----
     -Suu-
     -----

A slow moving spider that will come down from cave ceilings. They come down
when you get near but can be easily avoided.

They make an appearance in World 3.2
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     ----------
     -Tokotoko-
     ----------

A stone statue that moves dangerously fast and charges at you whilst you're
still trying to see it. Quite dangerous.

They make an appearance in World 3.3 and 3.3.
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with a fireball.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     --------
     -Torion-
     --------

A fish that attacks in groups of three. They'll swim towards you. If you don't
kill them, they'll come back for a second attack.

They make an appearance in World 2.3
To defeat them, shoot them with a single torpedo.
Killing one will give you 100 points.

     ---------------------------
     -Upside down Pakkun flower-
     ---------------------------

A Pakkun flower that pops out from various upside down pipes. It will pop out,
even when you are directly underneath the pipe. Be very careful.

They make an appearance in World 4.1 and 4.2
To defeat them, shoot them with a single fireball.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     ---------
     -Yurarin-
     ---------

     A seahorse like creature.

They make an appearance in World 2.3
To defeat them, shoot them with two torpedoes.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     -------------
     -Big Yurarin-
     -------------

A big seahorse that appears out of the water or underwater pits. It will spit
out fireballs at devastating rates. They are annoying due to the angle the
fireball comes at. They cannot be defeated with fireballs.

They make an appearance in World 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3.
To defeat them, jump on them or shoot them with two torpedoes.
Killing one will give you 400 points.

     7. Items
Below is the full listing of each item that you can get during the game.

     "?" Blocks
Hit them from underneath you to discover the following items:
Coins, Power-ups, stars, multiple coins, or even a one up.

     Brick
Super mario or Fire Mario can break them if he hits them from below. They give
50 points each. Sometimes they release items if you break them. Now some of
them offer multiple coins if you hit them fast enough.

     Coin
Scattered everywhere in the game. In spaces and "?" blocks. Each coin gives
100 points and 100 coins will land you a free life.

     Hearts
Each heart gives you a free life. They are also known as 1-ups. They're rare
but there is usually one per level.

     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     8. Power-ups
There are three power ups to the game. Below is about each of the three.

     Super Mushroom
Turns Mario into Super (big) Mario. They're found in "?" blocks. It can enable
Super Mario to break bricks. If you a hit when you've used a super mushroom,
you turn back into small Mario. Each super Mushroom is worth 1000 points.

     Fire flower
Turns Mario into fire mario, which enables him to shoot fireballs. The
fireballs are effective against many enemies but have a short range and bounce
off walls, floors and the ceilings until they find an open space or will
     disappear.

     Star
Temporarily turns Mario into an invincible form. Found in "?" blocks or in
bricks. You can only die by falling down into a bottomless hole. It can kill
any enemy with a simple touch, if it can be killed. Mario will flash when
the star is in effect and it lands you 1000 points.

     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     9. World One
Here we go folks, the beginning of another walkthrough. It's the same layout
as all of my other Super Mario FAQs. A note that finishing on the upper exit
will take you to the bonus stage which is always the same on each level.

     -----
     -1.1-
     -----
Run forwards and smash the "?" block for the coin. Kill the lone Chibobo and
smash the next "?" block. It will reveal a super mushroom so grab it! Keep
moving and smash the next "?" block to get another coin.

Jump over the pipe and smash the next "?" block for another coin. Run along
and jump up, killing the Chibobo and getting the coins as you go. Wait for
the two Chibobos to jump down then kill them. Jump up and fall down, getting
every single coin as you go. Smash the "?" block and jump across the gap.

Hit the next block to reveal a fire flower! Grab it and go!

Hit the next "?" block and jump over the Nokubon or kill it. Shatter all of
the eight "?" blocks for eight coins. Jump the gap, hit the "?" block
and kill the Chibobo, then the fly. Jump down and kill the Chibobo.
Smash the "?" block to reveal a star! Grab it and charge fowards, killing
     all in your path.

If you want, smash the "?" blocks as you go. Climb the stairs and jump onto
the platform. Leap onto the one going from left to right and exit via the
upper way! Now try your luck on the bonus stage!

     -----
     -1.2-
     -----
Jump up the two platforms and hit the "?" to reveal a fire flower. Jump
across the two ledges. Dodge the Bunbuns or kill them, your choice. Kill
our friendly Nokobon, grab the coins and keep jumping. Kill the Chibobo,
and smash all of the "?" blocks. Get across the moving platform bit and keep
on moving. Dodge the bunbuns or kill them. Run up the steps and kill the two
Chibobos and hit the "?" block to reveal another fire flower. Get across the
moving platform field. Dodge the bunbun and hit the middle "?" block to reveal
     a heart!

Run across, dodge the remaining enemies and carefully cross via the moving
platform. Quickly jump twice to get to the bonus stage.

     -----
     -1.3-
     -----
Hit the "?" blocks and carefully jump across the pipe field, watch out for
the Pakkun flower as you jump. Keep moving and dodge the three Pakkun plants
and the falling brick as you go. Carefully guide your way across the pipe
section. There are Pakkun flowers in each pipe. Dodge the falling bricks and
hit the three "?" blocks. Kill the Gao and take the lower road if you are
small Mario. Grab every coin and bust the "?" block to become Super Mario.
Now hit the brick and keep going.

Jump over the gap and sprint across the unstable bridge. Kill the next Gao
and keep moving. Kill the final Gao. Boss time!

This is King Totomesu. Simply Jump over him and grab the switch thing to
beat him! Watch the message and see Daisy turn into a fly! We were tricked!
     Time to keep moving!

     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     10. World two
     Here we are, part two.

     -----
     -2.1-
     -----
Fish galore here. Jump up the platforms and bust the "?" blocks. Kill the two
Honens and keep moving. Kill the next two Honens and carefully jump down onto
the moving platform. Jump onto the next one and leap down onto the pipe.
Go down and grab every coin you can and go through the other pipe to exit.

Hit the "?" block and grab all five coins. Kill as many Honens as you can
and leap onto the narrow ledges. Kill the two Chibobos and bust the "?" blocks
open. The second one has a star in it! Grab it and kill the three Chibobos
and jump up the ledges. Grab the three coins and keep moving.

Carefully guide your way across the ledges as there are honens here. A lot of
     them too.

Dodge the Big Yurarin and keep going. You can go down the pipe but don't.
Grab the coins, hit the "?" blocks and watch out for the Big Yurarins as you
go. Run across the bridge and jump onto the platform. Take two big leaps so
you can get to the bonus stage.

     -----
     -2.2-
     -----
Kill the Mekabon and take a huge leap to land on the next platform. Smash the
"?" block to reveal a fire flower. Kill the Chibobo and the Nokobon and press
down to enter the pipe. Get the lower set of coins as you can only take one
path and exit. Grab the two coins outside, hit the "?" block to reveal a coin
     and keep moving.

Jump up onto the "?" block then carefully hop onto the moving platform.
Take a leap of faith onto the next platform. Kill the Nokobon, then Mekabon
and run along, smashing the bricks as you go. The last one contains a star.
Grab it and go go go! Run down all enemies then take a leap onto the ledge
and charge across. Hop onto the moving platform, watch out for the Big Yurarin
and dodge the Pakkun flower in the pipe.

Kill the pesky Nokobon and hop down onto the ledge and smash the "?" block.
Choose your path, high or low, and finish the level!

     -----
     -2.3-
     -----
Woo underwater level! Grab as many coins as you can and shoot each brick.
Dodge the group of Torion, watch out for the Honen and Yurarin as you go.
Grab up as many coins as you can. It cannot be said enough times.

There is no real strategy as it is fairly easy. Just dodge the Honens and the
Yurarins as you go. Collecting up coins will be useful. When you see the
coins that spell out MARIO you're near the boss.

     Boss time!
This is Dragonzamasu. You'll have to shoot it with 20 (yes 20) torpedoes!
When he dies, shoot all six bricks underneath near the exit and watch The
bogus cinematic bit again! We're halfway there!

     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     11. World three
     Here we are, part three.

     -----
     -3.1-
     -----
Dodge the Batadon and jump up onto the pipe. Hit the "?" to reveal a coin.
Jump over the gap. Hit the two "?" blocks to reveal more coins. Kill the
Nokobon and hit the four bricks. The fourth one is a fire flower. Quickly run
     over the loose bridge.

Kill the next Nokobon and jump onto the pipe. Hit the "?" block for a coin and
     dodge the Gira.

Grab the coins from the "?" blocks and carefully hop along the ledges. Kill
the Batadon, then the Nokobon and jump onto the platform. Carerfully jump
across and kill the Nokobon on that ledge.

Jump up the stair like ledge formation then jump down and hold RIGHT to get
onto the ledge. Jump onto the pipe, hit the "?" block and leap over the gap
     and the Gira.

You'll now be going along a straight, kill the Nokobons and the Tokotokos
before jumping up onto the series of jumps. Ignore the Batadon, hit the "?"
block and leap across to the other ledge.

Jump onto the platform going up and down. Then leap onto the moving platform
     that goes left to right.

Hit the "?" block and grab the fire flower. Ignore the Gira and leap up and
run along the platform, grabbing the coins as you go.

Ignore all enemies and get onto the Ganchan to get across the spike pits.
After a while, jump onto the moving platform then up to the upper exit!

     -----
     -3.2-
     -----
Leap over the pipes and head forwards. When you see the Nokobon, kill it.
Watch out as a Suu will come down. Kill it and smash all four "?" boxes.
Leap over the gap, watch out for the suu and the Nokobon. Jump another gap
and there will be two Kumos. Just dodge them and leap over the pipe and make
     a quick jump across.

A suu is right after the pipe. So you'll have to make the jump quick.
Now grab the coins and keep going. Kill the Suu and the annoying Kumo and
     keep moving.

Kill the Nokobons and leap across the gaps. Quickly kill the Suus and Kumos
before leaping over and killing the Nokobon.

Watch out for the next Kumo before leaping over. Dodge the Gira and the suu
before killing the Nokobon and smashing all "?" blocks.

Leap across the gaps then jump onto the Ganchan and carefully go across before
jumping onto the ledge, then the next Ganchan. Do this until you are across
     the spike pits.

Ignore the Suu, Kuma, and Gira and leap onto the moving platform, then kill
     the Nokobon.

Leap onto the ledge, the next moving platform, then take a leap of faith onto
     the ledge.

Jump over and up the small ledges and exit the level!

     -----
     -3.3-
     -----
Leap onto the pipe, then the ledges, then onto the moving platform.
Carefully navigate your way across the diagonally moving platform course.
Try and land as many coins as you can as it is easy to die in this level.

Kill the Nokobon and leap over the small gaps. Take a carefully jump over
     and onto the narrow platform.

Kill the two Kumos and smash all four "?" boxes for four free coins.

Guide your way across the moving platform course and go down the pipe. Grab
     the coins and exit.
Now you're outside, get on the right of the pipe and jump. You'll reveal a
hidden block. Jump onto the pipe, then onto the block, then onto the platform
     and keep moving.

This next bit is annoying. Carefully hop down then when you get under the
roof bit, jump onto the ledges, then drop down onto the next moving platform.
     Jump up the ledges again.

Kill the Batadons and carefully guide your way across until you reach the
     next boss.

This is a tricky boss. You have to time the movements perfectly. I would
recommend carefully jumping from Ganchan to ganchan and onto the platform
and hitting the switch if you are small Mario.

If you are big Mario, charge at him, shooting one fireball at a time until
he dies. It takes ten fireballs to kill him.

You're moving in on Tatanga now. Only one world too go until the final fight.
Ready to move onto the final and hardest world?

     --------------------------------------------------

     --------------------------------------------------
     12. World Four
Here we are, part four. It's time to take down Tatanga. Only three more levels
     to go. Hang in there!

     -----
     -4.1-
     -----
Hit the three "?" blocks then the first brick, it reveals a fire flower.
Dodge the Pakkun and upside down Pakkun flowers and the Pionpis.

Carefully jump across the moving platforms then dodge the Gira. Hit the "?"
     blocks.

Carefully dodge the Pionpi and the Nokobon and smash all of the "?" blocks as
     you go.

The course maintains a fairly repetative pace until you reach the diagonally
     moving platforms.

When you're on the other side, watch out for the Pakkun plants and Chibibos.
Guide your way across the moving platforms and jump across the wobbly platform
bits. Carefully hop onto the moving platform and keep going.

Now it is a bit repetative until you see two Giras. Watch out and CAREFULLY
dodge the three Pionpi and then carefully hop over the three Giras. Leap
onto the diagonally moving platform And carefully jump to the upper exit.

     -----
     -4.2-
     -----
Jump across the ledges. Maintain the high road. Don't bother with the "?"
     boxes or Nokobons, ignore them.

Dodge the Gira and the Pompom flower. Carefully hop along the series of ledges
     as you go.

Dodge the Nyololin and carefully get across the course full of Pakkun flowers
and upside down Pakkun flowers. Kill the Pompom flower and grab the "?" boxes
     as you go.

The first one reveals a Fire flower.

Leap across the gap and carefully keep moving.

Be EXTREMELY careful as you move across the course full of the revolving
fireballs. Touching the fireballs is very harmful.

Smash the "?" box for a star and go go go! Leap onto the moving platforms and
get across. Keep charging on until the star wears off. When it wears off, go
     along extremely careful.

Carefully dodge the Nokobons, the Nylolin and the fireballs as you go.
Be very careful as you make small hops across the one block ledges.

I recently discovered that if you hold sprint, you can charge across without
     having to jump!

Watch out for the Pakkun flower and jump onto the moving platform.

Exit anyway you want and get ready to go onto the final level!

     -----
     -4.3-
     -----
THE FINAL LEVEL! Feel good that you made it? Well it's in the air and there
really is no strategy, I'm most sorry for the strategy but read on.

Dodge all the Chikakos and keep moving. You'll find a room with 99 coins!
Make sure you grab enough to score the free life!

There are also Roketons in this level, a lot of them. So be very careful.

Shoot your way through the gaps until you reach the second last boss.

Biokinton is incredibly easy. After his first attack, shoot forwards and
gun him with missiles until he dies.

Now it's on, the final battle. You and Tatanga, in the same area as where you
     just defeated Biokinton.

     --------------------
     -The Tatanga Battle-
     --------------------

The spaceship will stick within the right half of the screen, so the left
is safer. Hold A and move up and down. This way some of the missiles will hit
him and he attacks fairly rapidly. After the 25th missile hits him, he will be
     defeated.

Enjoy the final ending sequence and you're done. Congratulations, you have
just completed Super Mario Land for the Gameboy!

     --------------------------------------------------
