"The Super Bowl of Game Boy Games"

Tecmo decided to release a Game Boy version of the popular NES game "Tecmo Bowl". How good is this game? Read my review to find out and answer to this question.

GRAPHICS--10/10

The graphics in this game are excellent. The player sprites are awesome. The end zones have the first two initials of the team name. The player animations are smooth and silky. The cut-scenes, though not video, are fun to watch. You even get a half-time show to go with. Overall, the graphics are excellent.

SOUNDS--10/10

The sounds are excellent as well. you hear a whistle after every play, and a sound denoting that you got a touchdown. There's also a sound when you intercept the ball from the quarterback. The music is top notch as well, with a song when you're on offense and a song when you're on defense Overall, the sounds are excellent.

CONTROLS--10/10

Tecmo Bowl uses an arcade-style control scheme to get you into the game. For selecting plays, you press A and any direction at the same time. You can also choose which defender you want to sack the opponent's quarterback or intercept his pass. Kicking field goals or punting is real easy with this game. Overall, the controls are excellent.

GAME PLAY--10/10

You can choose from 12 football teams with actual NFL players from the time this game was released. The one-player mode consists of choosing a team and try to beat the other 11 teams to win the Tecmo Bowl Championship Trophy and is a real challenge. The two-player mode has you versus another player with a Game Boy system and a copy of Tecmo Bowl. The Coach mode is the two-player mode, but lets the computer control the teams. You just have to pick a play to run. In other words, he who picks the right defensive play always forces his opponent's offense to lose yards.

OVERALL--10/10

If you're looking for a solid football video game for the Game Boy system should look no further than Tecmo Bowl. This is the best football video game you can buy for the Game Boy. Overall, it's excellent.
