Introduction (YOGIINT)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
First things first, I am playing this game using the Super Game Boy adapter
for the SNES on a TV that was made before TVs came cable ready (yes, it is in
color). The settings I use are for the color is palate H on page 2. I will
describe everything based on what I see and as such, things may be slightly
different depending on what you are playing this game on. I find this palate
to be very similar to that of the Game Boy Pocket, which is why I chose it.
I prefer the black border around the screen, but I don't think this will make
any difference. I use control type A which makes the buttons on the SNES
controller use Y for the B button and the B button for the A button.

This is my first guide in quite some time. I left the guide writing scene
for well over a year and am finally finding the urge to come back. Since it
has been so long, there are bound to be typos and grammatical errors. I can
only correct these if you e-mail me and let me know about them. I like to
wait until I have a build up of several e-mails before I fix and submit
corrections, so don't fret if I haven't updated right after you pointed a
correction out to me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Controls (YOGICON)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The controls are very simple.
A button jumps
B button has no function
Start button pauses
Select button has no function
Left moves Yogi left
Right moves Yogi right
Down makes Yogi duck
Up has no function

Game Play (YOGIGPY)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yogi Bear is your basic side scrolling platformer where you jump on enemies
and ledges. There are picnic baskets throughout the game that you can
collect as well as coins in hidden areas. Under most circumstances, you will
move left to right, but the levels are large and allow you to backtrack as
much as you want.

The levels are not timed so you can take all the time you want to explore.
There are plenty of one ups hidden throughout and I will do my best to direct
you to them all.

At the bottom of the screen you will find all the important information. At
the bottom left will be five blocks. These indicate your life. They light
up when you have life. You have five life blocks in total and the decrease
from right to left as you get hurt. Just under this will be your score.
Almost everything in the game gives you ten points, so it takes a while to
build up your score.

In the middle of the bottom of the screen you will find your remaining lives
indicated by the head of Yogi Bear. Just to the right will be a picture of a
picnic basket and the number after increases when you collect picnic baskets.
At the bottom right you will see a giant 'C' in a circle. This indicates how
many coins you have collected.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walkthrough Level 1-1 (YOGI1-1)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start by moving right. Go up the incline and jump to grab the two picnic
baskets. Ignore the first bird since you cannot jump high enough to reach
it. You will see a 1-up below you. Remember it for now as we will come back
to it. At the top of the incline, a mushroom will come at you. Jump on its
head once to stun it. It will sit for a while. At the same time, a bird
will come in from the left. You can either ignore it or jump high enough to
land on its head. The bird only takes one hit to kill. By this time, the
mushroom will pop back up. It will be moving more aggressively and will take
one more jump to kill. Jump on its head and move right.

You will slowly start to go down hill. You will find another picnic basket
and just after will be another mushroom. Jump on it twice to kill it and
move on. Go past the giant tree trunk and the smaller tree. You will see a
place where there is a break in the ground. Instead of jumping up, walk
straight off the ledge and you will fall to another ledge below. From here
you will see another ledge to your left. Jump left to it. At the end of
this ledge will be a very small ledge followed by another. Jump very
carefully to this ledge and the next.

Keep going left along these very small ledges. You will notice the mushrooms
you already killed will be back above you. Take this into account as you
jump because of you jump too high, they will hurt you. When you get to a
slightly bigger ledge just under a giant tree trunk and a cabin, you want to
make a huge jump to the left (watching out for the mushroom) and you will
land on a ledge that has the 1-up that you saw just a minute ago. Jump up to
the left and you will be back on the first incline. Now go right, killing
the mushrooms and birds again until you get to the break in the ground.

Instead of falling off, this time jump up and move right. After one mushroom
you will come to the edge of a cliff. Just fall right off and move right.
There will be a picnic basket right as you start up an incline. Go up until
you see a second picnic basket. Right as you reach the second one, a
bouncing rock will come down at you. Don't try to jump over it. Instead,
let it bounce right over you. If you go too far back down the hill, it will
come back, so try to get under it as quickly as possible. Once you do, move
right.

There will be a mushroom at the end of a ledge which you need to kill. Just
over the ledge you will see two picnic baskets side by side. Jump off the
ledge and collect the picnic baskets as you fall down. Now go left. Jump to
the small ledge, then jump again to the ledge with the double headed worm.
Jump to the next one with another worm. Watch out above as that rock will
roll down the hill. Keep jumping left and you will find an apple at the end.
The apple will restore one health block. Jump up when it is safe and move
right past the bouncing rock again and back to where the double picnic
baskets were.

Use the little ledge to jump up where the mushroom is. Kill it and move
right. A bird will come at you. Jump on it and move right. As you go down
the hill, there will be another bouncing rock that you need to avoid. Grab
the two picnic baskets and move right.

At the bottom of the hill, there will be a mushroom and another picnic
basket. Kill the mushroom and grab the picnic basket. You should have ten
picnic baskets by now. Move right and another mushroom will appear. Kill it
and go on. You will come to a spot where you have to jump up to move right.
Do so. Once at the top you will see a picnic basket in front of you. Fall
down and grab it. You will land on two blocks that bounce you up. As soon
as the bounce you up, a block appears just above them with Yogi's face on it.
I call these Yogi Blocks for lack of a better term.

Instead of jumping up and moving right, go to the left of the bouncing
blocks. Walk up to the blocks and you will pass in front of them. When you
get in front of the block on the right, you will suddenly fall through the
floor and land on an invisible ledge. Move right and you will find your self
walking on thin air. There will be a rock in the cliff face where you can no
longer move right. You should see a 1-up on the far right of the screen.
From here, jump up while holding the right button and you will be able to
move a little more. Jump up again when you get stuck and move right once
more. Move right until you fall down. You should still be walking on air in
front of the cliff face. Now move left and you will find the 1-up. Go right
and jump up to the hill, watching out for the bouncing rock. Don't just walk
because you will fall and die.

Grab the two picnic baskets and move right, down the hill. At the bottom,
you will see a rock on a chain spinning in circles. This will hurt you if
you touch it, so wait for it to be on the upswing, and run under it. Move
right, killing the mushrooms and grabbing what picnic baskets you can. Go up
the hill and jump on the worm that comes down at you.

Jump straight up where the second picnic basket is on the hill. This will
reveal a Yogi Block. There is one directly to the left of the one that you
can make appear by jumping up just to the left of it. From these two Yogi
Blocks, jump up and left at a diagonal and another one will appear. Jump
back up to it, then you can jump left to the ones that are already there.
Two birds will come at you. Either duck them or jump on them, it doesn't
matter. In the middle of the blocks you will find an apple to restore one
piece of health.

Go to the left of the Yogi Blocks and you will see the spinning rock along
with the picnic baskets you couldn't reach before. Time your jump so that
you miss the rock and you can grab all three picnic baskets as you fall.
Watch out because as soon as you land, there will be the mushroom again.
Kill it and move on up the hill to the right.

You will see two picnic baskets with some bouncing blocks below you. Jump
down and grab the baskets and use the bouncing blocks to get back to the left
side. Now jump to the right over the hole with the bouncing blocks, watching
out for the bird as you jump. Move right and there will be a worm just in
front of the cabin. Jump on it and move right to move on to the next zone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walkthrough Level 1-2 (YOGI1-2)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start out this level by jumping onto the two logs that are floating in the
air, grabbing the picnic basket along the way. Move right and jump off and
onto the next one, grabbing the next picnic basket. The third set of logs
will be moving in a circle. Time your jump and land on it. Ride it around
to get the picnic basket.

Jump right and jump up and over to the next set of floating logs. This one
moves up and down. Jump right to the one moving in a circle and collect the
picnic baskets. There will be three picnic baskets at the bottom right.
Jump down and grab them (don't worry, there is level ground underneath. Now
jump up and you will find three Yogi Blocks. Once you have made them appear,
move right and you will see two more picnic baskets. You can't reach them,
but jump up and you will make two Yogi Blocks appear. Move right a little
more and you will see more picnic baskets. Jump up to make the Yogi Blocks
appear. Once they appear, kill the mushroom and the on the left as well as
the spider. Now go all the way back to the left and take the logs back to
this point so you can get on top of the Yogi Blocks.

Use the logs moving in a circle to jump up to the ledge on the right. Move
right and you will see three picnic baskets. Jump down so that you collect
all three and land on the second set of Yogi Blocks that you just found.
Jump back up and move right and you will see the third set. Jump onto them
to collect the picnic baskets then use the floating longs to move right.

After you jump down over the little ledge, there will be an arrow pointing
down to some more floating logs. Be very careful here and jump onto the
logs. From here, ignore the arrow an jump right unto a double headed worm.
After you squish him, you will fall through the ground. You will stop almost
immediately. From here, you will be walking on air in front of the cliff.
Walk right and you will find a secret room with a 1-up and six picnic
baskets. Under each picnic basket will be a Yogi Block. You will need these
to get all the picnic baskets. Once you grab all six, move right and you
will find an apple. Just to the right will be an arrow pointing down. Jump
into the hole and move onto the next level.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walkthrough Level 1-3 (YOGI1-3)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go right, grabbing the picnic basket. Fall down and you will land on a
bouncing block. Move left and you will be in a little cove with two picnic
baskets on the left. There will be two spikes in your way. Jump over them
to get the picnic baskets. If you land on them, you will be hurt. Jump back
to the right, past the bouncy block and move on.

Grab the picnic basket along the way. When you see a mushroom, kill it and
look down. You will see a star going in a circle. This is the area you are
trying to reach. For now, go right. Go past the bouncy block and jump up to
the ledge (yes, it does look like something it shouldn't). Move right and
you will see a picnic basket in between two bones. Ignore it for now and
move right. There will be a worm. Squish it and move until you find two
bouncy blocks. Jump on them to find two Yogi Blocks above them. Jump on the
Yogi blocks and go left.

Kill the mushroom, grab the picnic basket, kill the next mushroom and you
will be at some spikes. Leap over the spikes and squish the double headed
worm. Move right and jump the gap to grab a picnic basket. Drop down into
the hole and you will be where you saw the star. Kill the mushroom and move
right.

Go back to the picnic basket sandwiched between the two bones and fall
through the hole to grab it. Go right of the bouncy block to find two more
past the spikes, then come back to the left. Fall through the hole with the
picnic basket. Go left and you will see a hole with another picnic basket in
it. Jump down and you will fall for quite a while. On the right side, about
halfway down, there is a secret passage way that leads to several more picnic
baskets that is tough to get to. There are a bunch of hidden Yogi Blocks on
the right side of the hole that lead into it. I don't feel it is worth going
into, but it is there if you want.

After you reach the bottom, move left. Go past the four spiders, grabbing
the picnic baskets along the way. At the end of the corridor there will be
three Yogi Blocks. Jump on the lowest one then jump up and to the right.
Use the first bouncy block to jump up and slightly to the left. You will now
be on two new bouncy blocks. Use these to jump up and to the left. There
are three hidden Yogi Blocks here, two high and one even with the candle in
the background. Use the lower one to jump up to the next two. You will
probably fall getting these to appear, so just go back and do it all over
again. You won't die if you fall.

Once you get to the Yogi Blocks, you will find two more and some bouncy
blocks to the right, just under a picnic basket. Jump onto the bouncy blocks
and grab the picnic basket. Use these bouncy blocks to jump up and move
right. Grab the picnic basket then jump up and to the left. Ride the logs
up through the two picnic baskets and jump right.

At the end of the ledge, CAREFULLY jump across the gap to the two bouncy
blocks. Above you you will see the circling stars from earlier! The bouncy
blocks will take you right to it. With a cool sound affect, you will be
whisked away to a safe.

Move right and the game will force you to stop in the middle of the screen.
You will automatically jump up into the safe. You will then be transported
to a coin world. Move right and grab every coin you can. When you reach the
end, drop down and move left grabbing all the coins you see. At the end of
the walkway, there will be a picture of Ranger Smith. He will smile at you.
Jump down and you will be returned to the screen with the safe. The game
will automatically make you jump out of the safe, it will close and you will
walk off screen.

You will be transported back and you will be on a ledge with a picnic basket
in front of you. You should quickly recognize this area as right near the
beginning. If you drop down in the hole in front of you, you will be at the
place where you could see the stars below you.

Drop down to

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walkthrough Level 1-4 (YOGI1-4)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You'll start out with a lot of jumping up. Grab the picnic basket on the
right and use the bouncy blocks to jump up. Keep jumping up using bouncy
blocks to make the next ledge. Occasionally you will uncover some Yogi
Blocks that are needed to reach the next ledge.

After the first set of Yogi Bocks, there will be a spider on the far left.
Kill it so it doesn't hurt you when you jump up and to the right. Keep
moving up. Shortly after the spider you will find a mushroom. Jump on him
twice to kill him.

Jump up and move left. Jump up to the brick and you will find one bouncy
block. Use it to jump straight up and find a hidden Yogi Block. Jump on the
little ledge on the far left and use it to reach the Yogi Block you just
uncovered. Go back to the last bouncy block. From the right side of the
ledge it is on, jump up and right to find another hidden Yogi Block. Get on
this block and jump up to find two more, once directly above and one just to
the right. Get up to these blocks and jump right to the floating logs. When
it is at its apex, jump right and you will exit this area.

Frequently Asked Questions (YOGIFAQS)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Can I host this guide on my site?
A: No. I do not allow anyone to use my guides without expressed, written
permission. I do not give permission unless I am asked, specifically, about
this guide. I do not like automated e-mails. I will most likely only allow
my guide to be hosted on a small website, usually one centered around the
game or system my guide is for. For more information, see the Copyright
section of this guide, at the bottom. Use of this guide without my
permission is considered theft and will be reported to the proper
authorities.

Q: How do I contact you about this guide?
A: E-mail is the best way to do so. My e-mail can be found at the beginning
or the end of this guide, just remember to take the numbers 123 out of it
because they do not belong. I keep them there to prevent auto scanning
websites from obtaining my e-mail address. Alternatively, you can also
contact me via MSN using the same e-mail address or on AIM using the screen
name ArguroDeXill. While I am almost always online, I am not always at my
computer and it may take as many as 16 hours to get a reply from me. Just be
patient if this is the contact method of choice. I am not ignoring you,
simply doing something away from the computer.

Q: What other guides have you done?
A: Just simply click on the name Arguro at the very top or the very bottom
(orange text in a black box) of this guide and it will take you to my
contributor page. From there you can see all the different things I have
contributed to Gamefaqs.

Q: I really like your guides. Can I donate money to you in support?
A: If you really want to, you can send a Pay Pal payment to my e-mail
address which is at the top or bottom of this guide. Please understand that
any donated money does not mean I will name you in my guide. It also does
not mean I will do any special work for you and it certainly does not give
you any rights to host this guide or publish it anywhere. I do not want the
user to feel obligated to pay me in any means. This is a free guide for
personal, private home use. I will not reject your offer to pay me, but I do
not want you to feel it is necessary. If you do decide to donate to me,
please only donate what amount you are comfortable with, even if it is a
single penny. Once a donation is made, it is final and there will be no
refunds. This is an odd question and I debated about adding it for a long
time, but when I saw other FAQ authors had a similar question, I felt it
would be a valid addition.

Q: How do I beat X on level Y?
A: It should be answered in the walkthrough. If it isn't, and I have gone
past that part in the walk through, chances are I just missed it. E-mail me
and ask about it. If the walkthrough isn't complete and I have not got to
that part yet, be patient and I will soon. If it has been over a month and I
haven't updated the guide, just send me an e-mail telling me you want me to
finish this. Knowing that people will use this guide is motivation enough to
finish it.

Q: You screwed up in a section/strategy/area/itsprobablyjustatypo! Don't
you spell check everything?
A: No, I don't. There are bound to be mistakes throughout this guide. The
only way they can be corrected is if you e-mail me and nicely explain to me
where and how I messed up. Credit will be given where credit is due. My e-
mail is at the beginning of this guide.

Q: Who made this game and what year did it come out?
A: Yogi Bear's Gold Rush was developed by a company called Entertainment
International (UK) LTD. and is only one of two games they ever did. The game
was published by GameTek and was released in 1994. It was published by Sun
Soft in Europe.

Q: Where can I buy this game? Can't I just download it instead?
A: You probably can't find this game in any normal stores any more. Your
best bet is to scour eBay, Amazon or another internet website of your choice
where old things are sold. I personally found my copy at a pawn shop in
Boise, Idaho for $2.99. As for downloading it, there are no legal avenues in
which this game can be downloaded, so you should just support a business and
buy a copy.

Q: Can I play this on my Game Boy Advance/Super Game Boy/DS/Game Boy
Micro/Game Boy Player/whatever?
A; This is an original Game Boy game and is playable on the following
systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game
Boy Advance SP, Super Game Boy peripheral for the SNES and the Game Boy
Player peripheral for the Gamecube.

Q: Can I save in this game?
A: No you cannot.

Q: Are there any cheats or passwords to resume play on a certain level?
A: There are no passwords of any kind and there are no known cheats for this
game. There is a sound test and some developers have implemented level skips
within sound test menus, but there are no known ways of utilizing this. I am
curious to try and see if it is possible.

Q: What other Yogi Bear games came out?
A: There are quite a few for systems long gone from memory, but the ones for
some of the more popular systems of the past include: Yogi Bear: Great
Balloon Blast for the Game Boy Color, Yogi Bear's Cartoon Capers for the Sega
Genesis, Adventures of Yogi Bear on the SNES, and Yogi Bear and Friends in
the Green Monster for the Commodore 64.
