My Butterfree didn't learn Harden or Confusion. why?

I raised a level 3 caterpie, leveled it up one level at a time and all my butterfree knows is tackle and string shot. whats up with that?

As for Harden, Metapod won't learn it. Wild Metapod have Harden but not ones raised from a Caterpie.

Has your Butterfree yet to reach Lv12 or did you evolve it at a later level? Confusion is learned at Lv10 in Yellow, but is learned at Lv12 in Red and Blue.

well i think that when u evolved it that you canceled it so catch a new one and DON'T CANCEL THE EVOULTION
