"If Jesus wanted to play his Gamecube, this would be the game in it."
It's not like you haven't already heard of the godlike game, Super Smash Bros Melee. The first Super Smash Bros came to the US in 1998 for the N64, and people were instantly hooked. This game came shortly after the Cube was released, 2001. The expectations were destroyed, and a whole new stereotype for gamers was invented, Smashers. From then on, there were tournaments all over the US, for all ages, with amazing prizes. People forgot about all of their other Gamecube games and focused on training there Smash skills. It was the dawn of a new age.
Impact: 10 (First 15 minutes playing the game)
Once you start, there's no stopping. It doesn't matter if you start out playing classic mode, adventure mode, or just start smashing with CPUs or friends, you're going to be spellbound at the very beginning.
So simple. So crazy. So easy to master. You'll be able to get used to these controls in about 3 minutes, and you'll have them totally down within 15 minutes. It's A to regular attack, B to smash attack (in which you can variate with the analog stick), analog to move, C to attack, Z to grab, etc.
Probably some of the best on the Gamecube. In Super Smash Bros, it was, "oh, these are pretty good graphics." Now, it's, "holy hell, I can see the ripples in Luigi's pants!" There's almost no flaws here, seeing it's a 2001 game. Gorgeous, to say the least.
Never gets old. The point is to attack your enemies to get their % up. The higher their %, the further they fly. They lose a life (stock) when they fly off the screen. There are a few different types of playing: Melee, which is just a regular match of beat each other up, Classic, like from SSB for the N64, and Adventure (the new one), which is where you pick a character, and run through the many worlds on Nintendo.
Think of any tune from an earlier Nintendo game. Anyone, just pick. Well, chances are it's in this game. From Kirby's theme to the Ice Climber's theme, they've got them all.
Yes, I did just give it a 14. Why? Because that's what it deserves. The multiplayer in this game is amazing. You and your friends will spend hours huddled in front of the tv smashing, kicking, punching, pwning each other.
Great gameplay, beautiful graphics, and high replayability.
Rent or buy
This is worth buying a whole freaking Gamecube over.
