"Eight years after Star Fox 64...."
...the Star Fox team still exists. Slippy is an old teenager that knows his technology. Peppy is the wise one, who always knows where to go. Fox is a young pilot with skills that can compete with even the best pilots. As for Falco? Last seen jetting off for a glamorous solo career.
Let's get right into the game.
Only one word can possibly sum this up. Wow. The way the game flows is simply amazing, and you fell as if you really are Fox, riding dinosaurs and driving bikes to save younger dinosaurs. Fox can use his newly-acquired staff to attack enemies and countless ways, and he's most acrobatic. The game is basically like Ocarina of Time, letting you go where you please and completing the tasks when you want to. Even the Arwing comes into play several times. The main reason you use it is to shuttle yourself from asteroid to asteroid of back to Dino Planet, but it's very fun when you do use it!
Dazzling, the sound effects were simply amazing. Fox's voice and the voices of the other characters are so crisp and clear that you can almost feel as if you were really talking to them, and you can sense the emotion hanging the air when Prince Tricky finds out the fate of his mother.
Fox and friends look a lot better than they did before, and you can see Fox's fur ruffle in the wind. The way this game pulls the graphics together is perfect. The special effects in the game make it seem like a movie, but then you realize you're playing a game. You can see Krystal's magic and the flames from Fox's staff.
This game is very fun the first time through, and fun the second time. But after you've beaten it several times it tends to get repetitive. This is one of the only flaws in the game.
Another flaw is that the game itself is not very difficult. Sometimes this can be a good thing, and it's not terribly bad this time. Don't let the 4 score fool you, this game is terribly fun!
I don't care if you've never played a Star Fox game before. Even though I'm an old SF64 pilot (gotten gold medals on both difficulties), I still think newbies would love this game as well.
OVERALL SCORE: 10/10
And that's a wrap!
