The Sum of All Fears
Review by idiotman7
"My fears have come true"
What happened? I mean holy crap. What in the world were the developers thinking? How am I supposed to believe, that the same people behind Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon, made this game? I am tired of yelling, so I will get right on with the review, so we can forget this horrible game that we call an FPS forever.
Well, the game is pretty much set up for you when you get going. It's an FPS squad game, controls aren't too difficult. If you could see anything. The game is so dark and clumsy; not even the brightest setting could fix it. I would bump into walls and keep walking for minutes on end, thinking I was still going somewhere. You would think that the small camera on the bottom of the screen would help. No not so much, because it was so small and so hard to read, a kindergartener could have drawn a better one with finger paint. Shooting, is just as agitating, because the guns are hard to handle, and make it boring to even have one. And the AI was so dumb that the killed themselves, literally.
What a mediocre story. The creators said that it was to lead up to events in the movie, The Sum of All Fears. Not only did it fail to tell me anything, it just felt like they were sending me to different places, without even a single, this is what needs to be done briefing. They do tell you what is happening before the mission, but its hard to pay attention because the voice is annoying and makes you bleed from the ears. The missions are just like a go in and do this type deal, nothing like Rainbow which actually has a plot and cool feel to it.
Meh, is really all that can be said about the sound and music for Sum of All Fears. Nothing to great really. The characters in cut scenes sounded alright, but in game it would have been more fun to listen to fingernails and a chalk board fight. The voice before missions, as said above is agitating and makes you cry in pain. And the music was anything special either. It didn't build suspense, and certainly didn't give me a dramatic feeling.
My God. I have seen better graphics on pong, the first version, than on this game, Character models are sloppy, and environments are dark and blocky. It's just annoying to even walk around in them. The AI would have been better if it had just been stick men moving around, since the all were the same as the last and didn't look at all impressive. Cut scenes look okay, but just weren't the greatest I have ever seen. More like some of the worst
This is one of the worst FPS I have played in a long long time. It's just hard to imagine that the same people who created great games such as Splinter Cell made this. The game makes you want to take a pen and stick it in your eye, then ear, then anywhere else a pen may go. It is neither a buy nor rent. Shove this game in a dark corner and never look at it ever. But if you must, rent it and return it an hour later.
