Super Monkey Ball 2
Review by amazydayzee3621
"Absolutely one of the best games I have ever played."
Super Monkey Ball 2 is the one of best games I have ever played in my life. It is the Ocarina of Time of the GC, but a trillion times better. Here is why it is so amazing.
Gameplay - 11/10
OH MY GOD, the gameplay!!! This alone makes it one of the best games ever. Basically, you roll a monkey in a plastic ball around a level, called a floor, to the goal at the end. This doesn't sound very fun, BUT IT IS SO MUCH FUN, and the main reason to buy the game. You can choose between four monkeys, Aiai, Meemee, Baby, and Gongon. There are Beginner, Advanced, Expert, and Master difficulty levels in Challenge Mode, and the first three are immediately playable. The only downside is that the game is extremely difficult beyond Beginner, but I actually like this. It is frustrating at times, but SO MUCH FUN!!!! A Story Mode was added since the first Super Monkey Ball, and it turned out to be awesome.
Conrols - 9/10
The controls are very precise, which is what you need in a Monkey Ball game. The camera is a bit fidgety, but all that does is add to the difficulty, and I like difficulty. You will never be mad at the controls after you fall out, unlike some later Monkey Ball games.
Graphics - 10/10
Not much to say here, other that that the graphics are AWESOME for a 2002 game. The backgrounds are amazingly detailed, and the monkeys, balls, and floors are so perfectly shaped. The last level, Nintendo, is just as detailed as the Gamecube sitting next to your TV. It is truly a testimony to Sega's commitment to this game.
Sound - 9/10
Amazing. The music is excellent, and you never get tired of it. The monkeys' chants of "mon-key-key-key-mon-key" is very cute and entertaining, and even the announcer is excellent *Fall out!*.
Multiplayer - 10/10
Amazing too. This is an excellent multiplayer game. I will outline each individual game: Monkey Race 2 is a very fun racing game, and all 6 tracks are very good. Monkey Fight 2 is fun, and well made. Monkey Target 2 is excellent and very fun. Monkey Billiards 2 is pool with Monkey Balls. Is is the best mini game. Monkey Bowling 2 is better than the first, and excellent. Monkey Golf 2 is very different from the first, but still just as great. Now the unlockable ones. Monkey Boat is okay, Monkey Shot is good, Monkey Dogfight is very good, Monkey Soccer is excellent, Monkey Baseball is excellent, and Monkey Tennis is very good. Overall an excellent multiplayer game.
Story - 9/10
DR. BAD-BOON (his name is all capitals) steals all the bananas on Jungle Island, home to the four monkeys, and puts them on his floors, which apparently he created. You must progress through 10 worlds of floors, World 1 being Beginner, Worlds 2-4 being Advanced, Worlds 5-9 being Expert, and World 10 being Master, not using the Challenge Mode Master floors, but Story Mode exclusive Master floors. The Beginner Extra Levels are used throughout the worlds, but no other Extras are used, and Beginner Extra 10 is not used.
Overall - 11/10
This is certainly Sega's best game, just a 100th of an inch above Super Monkey Ball 1, which is also a fabulous game. It might be the best game ever, although it is rivaled for that title.
Rent/Buy/Avoid - Buy, buy, BUY!!!
