Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
Review by SpideyVenom101
" It's time to Skate and Destroy... the fourth time!"
The Hawk is back, and this time he's better than ever. This is the fourth game, with a new goal system. This game has the best unlockable characters, in my opinion.
Graphics 9 out of 10
The graphics are very detailed, however there is a bit of an issue with the Slo mo cheat (no, my lips are sealed. Why would I tell you?). The skaters are very detailed, right down to the scrapes and cuts, and the wear on your board. Your board will slowly wear down. You can create your own skater, with all kinds of things. I gave mine an army Helmet. You can choose between male and female now. You can also create a park, with obstacles from various levels. The FMV's are good, even on Bam Margera's video, which contains clips from Viva La Bam. The outtakes are very funny, with Tara Strong even showing up. Another notable clip is the Homies Skatin' video, which shows complete amateurs(the staff) skateboarding. However, the Tony Hawk series has a history of discriminating against females. I'm no feminist,(I'm a male) but I think that's bad. Elissa Steamer is the only female pro skater.
Sound 10 out of 10
The standard sounds are in here, but what I really like is the music. ACDC's TNT and The Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK" are still my favorite songs. The rap isn't that good, but I liked the Muskabeatz songs. The Faction(with Steve Cabellero playing the guitars) has the song Skate and Destroy, which expresses the common hatred for skaters by cops. . It's another favorite. There's also a lot of bands "you've never heard of". Public Enemy is also part of the sound track, with a song that doesn't sound like skating music. Actually, why people skate to rap I don't know, but I don't think it mixes.
Gameplay 9 out of 10.
The gameplay has added a new feature. The levels now have no time limit. You can also talk to people to get goals. The Skitching feature isn't as good as it sounds. You cannot do tricks while skitching. Spine Transfers are useful for getting around. However, the accuracy is kinda off. I'm a skater, and I think some of the tricks they name are inaccurate. For example, my friend and I were arguing over whether the Pogo trick counted with your hands on the board.
Unlockables ( SPOILERS ahead.)
10 out of 10.
You can unlock Jango Fett, Eddie, the mascot of Iron Maiden, Mike Vallely(who just recently got his own skateboard company.) and Daisy from the Dukes of Hazzard. This game has the best unlockables.
Story: N/A
I only added this to fill my word gap. (OMG, there's no story? Boo Hoo!)
Overall, you should buy this game. I found it at Sam's club for 13.88. You can look for it at a used games store, or check the bargain bin. Skater Haters, you don't know what you're missing.
