    5. Introduction
        (a) Getting Started

In order to select Battle Mode, you, first, must acquire
more than one controller and it must be connected in the
appropriate socket on your Gamecube. Secondly, once
Battle Mode initiates, each human player must select a
character (Billy Hatcher, Rolly Roll, Chick Poacher,
or Bantam Scrambled). Then, you must select the mode
you would like to play, the goal required to achieve
in order to win, and once you select an arena, the game
will start and you can start battling your friends!

        (b) Learning the Basics

Here are all the skills needed in Battle Mode:

Rolling Eggs - In order to begin rolling an egg, approach
an egg from an Egg Nest using the Control Stick and
push towards it to take control. You can then run in
    any direction with the egg.

Egg Jump - Whilst rolling an egg, press the A Button. You
can also move whilst aloft by using the Control Stick.

Egg Shoot - Press the B Button whilst controlling an egg.

Egg Roll - Press the R Trigger whilst aloft. To stop
rolling, let the egg come to a complete (or close to a
complete stop) then press the A Button.

Egg Dunk - Press the B Button whilst aloft.

Egg Dash - Press the R Trigger whilst rolling an egg to
    increase your speed.

Egg Driver - Hold down the A Button whilst aloft.

Bounce Jump - Tap the A Button whilst aloft.

Long Jump - Press the A Button during an Egg Dash.
You can control how far you jump by using the Control
    Stick.

Command Egg Animal - Press the X Button whilst an Animal
    is in your possession.

Use Item - Press the Y Button whilst an item is in
    your possession.

    Lock-On - Hold the L Trigger to lock-on to a nearby
    opponent.

Rotate Camera - Use the C Stick to control the camera.

        (c) Unlocking the Levels

In order to unlock a level, with the exception of the two
Forest Village arenas which are unlocked from the outset,
you need to defeat the boss (or sometimes complete a
    mission
like in the case of Giant Palace) in each level in Story
    Mode.
For instance, to get the Pirates Island arena, you must
    beat
the Boss of Forest Village, Era Gecko which is the 2nd
    Mission
of the stage in Story Mode.

    (b)	Animals

    1. Cipher
Descriptor: "Powers of fire and passion!"
    Rarity: Very Common
    Limit: 5
    Damage: 50%
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3
    Tips:
-Cipher is better to use on characters that are just
    standing
in place. He isn't really good when you're aiming at
    players
    whilst they are in motion.
-Rather than aiming directly at an opponent, try firing at
    a
wall or a platform where the enemy may be close to.

    2. Clippen
Descriptor: "Powers of water and life!"
    Rarity: Very Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents are hit by wave of
    water.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4
    Tips:
-Clippen can bounce off walls as well so use that knowledge
    to
try to trick your opponents into believing your targeting
    elsewhere.

    3. Recky
Descriptor: "Has the power of lightning!"
    Rarity: Very Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents are hit by thunder
    bolts at end.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Zig-Zag
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 4
    Tips:
-Since Recky can travel pretty far in his attacks, try
    firing from afar
so as to catch your opponents by surprise.
-Lead Recky over to an edge of a high platform and use his
    abilities.
His attack will reach even to the ground below so use this
    knowledge to
get the upper hand on your opponents.

    4. Richie
Descriptor: "Powers of ice and illusions!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents do not escape the
    ice break.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Try aiming at your opponents. Richie can split into three
    different
directions so it's more than likely the opponent will get
    hit.

    5. Peliwan
Descriptor: "Renowned scholar of the wind!"
    Rarity: Very Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents do not escape the
    tornado.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Radial
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Try using Peliwan near Egg Rings or the landing places for
Egg Rings. This will frustrate your opponents easily.
-Try using Peliwan in a secret area like the one in Sand
    Ruin.
Peliwan will more than likely hit one or more opponents.

    6. Runny
Descriptor: "Powers of steel and karate!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents are hit by both
    slams.)
    Range: Short
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Mediocre
    Rating: 2/5
    Tips:
-Runny isn't really good at performing attacks
    since they take too long.
-Runny attacks by creating 2 small slams on the ground,
    followed by
    a final large slam.
-Try standing atop a high platform, and then use her
    abilities.
She will slam the ground beneath, possibly damaging
    opponents below.

    7. Rabbish
Descriptor: Moves at the speed of light!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents get hit from final
    blast.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Perfection isn't key with Rabbish. Whenever you see an
    opponent,
simply use his attacks. His attack will probably hit your
opponent due to the widespread of the attack.

    8. Rikol
Descriptor: "Can jump high and uses fire!"
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Limit: Until Death
(5 Hits - Egg Attacks, 2 Hits - Animal Attacks)
    Damage: 20%
    Range: Short
    Path: Straight/Radial
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Rikol has two abilities you can utilize.
-The first ability being able to spew fire at any nearby
    opponents.
-The second ability being able to spew fire in a circular
    motion.

    9. Kaboot
    Descriptor: "An amphibious martial artist!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Limit: Until Death
(10 Hits - Egg Attacks, 2 Hits - Animal Attacks)
    Damage: 20%
    Range: Short
    Path: Straight/Downwards
    Advantage:
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Kaboot has two abilities you can utilize.
-The first ability being able to dash into enemies using
    the B Button.
-The second ability being able to perform a slam on the
    ground by
pressing B whilst aloft and any nearby opponents will be
    affected.

    10. Datch
    Descriptor: "Glides through the air!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Limit: Until Death
(10 Hits - Egg Attacks, 2 Hits - Animal Attacks)
    Damage: 20-40%
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Mediocre
    Rating: 2/5
    Tips:
-Charge up his abilities, then, when an opponent walks by,
    dash
    right into them.
-Datch isn't really good because although he is quite fast,
    it
takes a while for you to charge up his dash abilities
    before you
    can use them.

    11. Glarin
    Descriptor: "A low-flying, deadly hunter!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents are hit by
    fireworks at end.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Aim at your opponents instead of shooting randomly. Glarin
    should
be used whenever you see a group of opponents in one area
    since
it's quite likely that he'll hit them.

    12. Boskus
    Descriptor: "A hot-headed fighter!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
    Damage: 50%
    Range: Far
    Path: Random
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-Don't even bother aiming, just use him randomly since he
    can
bounce off walls and it's rare that he'll actually attack
    an
opponent unless you plan it right.

    13. Oritta
    Descriptor: A deadly ninja-like fighter!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents do not dodge her.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Homing
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Hardly any aiming is required for Oritta's attacks since
    her
attacks automatically home in on the nearest opponent. Just
be near an opponent (or opponents) when you use her
    abilities.

    14. Biboo
    Descriptor: A whimsical animal!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
Damage: 50% (Possible 100% if opponents get hit when Biboo
    is returning to the Hatcher.)
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-Remember, Biboo acts like a boomerang: after his attack,
he automatically returns to you and any opponents in his
    way
    will still get hit.

    (c)	Apparel

    1. Wings
Descriptor: "Allows you to double jump!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-You can use the Wings to reach high places you may have
needed to perform an Egg Attack to reach.
-You could even use the Wings to dodge some of your
    opponents' attacks.

    2. Booster
Descriptor: "With this, you can fly!"
    Rarity: Common
    Damage: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Stand atop a platform then use the Booster to float
overhead of your opponents below you.
-You could use the Booster to try observing the level and
    seeing
the Eggs on the level and where your opponents are as
    well.
-Obviously, the Booster can be used to get from one
platform to another without having to worry about being
    hassled by your opponents.

    3. Paraloop
Descriptor: "Use light to defeat enemies!"
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Damage: 20%
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 2/5
    Tips:
-In order for you to damage your opponents using this item,
    you
need to perform an Egg Dash and any opponents who come in
    contact
with the bright light that appears behind you will be
    damaged.
-Don't count on the fact that your opponent will come into
contact with the light for your chances aren't that high.

    4. Thorn Egg
Descriptor: "This egg can grow sharp thorns!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: 20% (With Egg)
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Use your Egg to eliminate other eggs your opponents may
    need.
-In order to activate the Thorn Egg, you must have an Egg
in your possession (not necessarily once you hatch or use
    it).
-Use your Egg to inflict more damage than you normally
would with your regular Egg Attacks.
-Your Egg is pretty much invulnerable with the Thorn Egg
but once you let go of it, your Egg becomes vulnerable
    again.

    5. Speed Shoes
    Descriptor: "Raises your running speed!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: N/A
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-You can run even faster when using the Egg Dash.
-You may be able to dodge your opponents' attacks more
successfully since your speed is doubled with these shoes.

    6. Spring Shoes
Descriptor: "Makes you jump really high!"
    Rarity: Common
    Damage: N/A
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-You can jump slightly higher than you normally would with
the Wings but since you'll jump straight up, controlling
    your
character whilst aloft is somewhat difficult to do when
you're trying to reach a platform.
-You could even use these to try dodging some of your
    opponents' attacks.

    7. Circus Hat
Descriptor: "Ride your egg on water and sand!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: 10% (With Egg)
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-In order to use the Circus Hat, you need
to jump on top of an Egg. It may take a couple
of turns to do that, though.
-Whilst using the Circus Hat, you are not
invincible. Opponents can still hit you and
if they do, you will fall off your Egg so be careful.
-Whilst using the Circus Hat, use it as an opportunity
to fill up the Egg Gauge for the respective Egg you are
    on.
-When you want to hatch an Egg, or even if you just
want to stop using the Circus Hat, let the Egg come to
a complete stop, then press the A Button.
-Remember, you can't jump with the Circus Hat so if you
want to reach a higher platform, you'll have to get off
    the Egg altogether.

    8. Psychic Hat
Descriptor: "Control the egg with your mind!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: 10% (With Egg)
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-In order to first activate the Psychic Hat, you need to
    perform an Egg Shoot.
-Try finding the Thorn Egg, then, activate the Psychic Hat
and the damage opponents will receive will increase a
    little.
-Remember, when controlling an egg, you can't jump so if
    you
want to get your egg back, you'll have to stop controlling
    it,
and then find it somewhere in the level.
-Your egg is not invincible when it is surrounded by the
    barrier
from the Psychic Hat. Once damage has been
inflicted, the mind control will stop immediately.
-Keep in mind that once you start controlling your Egg,
your character is completely vulnerable. Watch your back!
-If you ever see a character controlling an Egg with the
Psychic Hat, since they would be vulnerable, try finding
them, then, attack them by surprise.
-Try hiding in a corner or a secluded area so your
    opponents will
have a hard time finding you when you're controlling the
    Egg.

    9. Heart Hat
    Descriptor: "Regenerate your health!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-If you're not good at battling, try finding this
    invaluable Egg.
    It'll really help!
-Your health will automatically recover 10% for every 5
    seconds
    or so that pass by.
-Remember, you will continue to recover health until you
    lose all
your health. Try to stay alive as long as you can!

    (d)	Items

    1. Gorilla
Descriptor: "Can double your attack power!"
    Rarity: Common
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 30 Seconds
    Damage: 10-40% (with Egg)
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-Your Egg Attacks are improved in power with this so use
    the
Gorilla to your advantage while you can.
-Don't get confused with the effects of this and the Lion.
    You
are NOT invincible with the Gorilla!

    2. Chameleon
    Descriptor: "Can turn you invisible!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 30 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-Stay in one place or else your opponents will see you
    whilst you're on the move.
-Hatch an Animal then activate this item. When an opponent
    appears,
    catch them by surprise!
-Try hiding near snow, water and sand. Walls may give away
    your
    position more easily, though.

    3. Mouse
Descriptor: "Can shrink you to mouse-size!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 60 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-When you utilize the mouse, try using it to hide from
    opponents
who may not be able to see you from afar.
-Hatch an Egg Animal before utilizing the Mouse, then, hide
    in a
corner somewhere and no one suspects it, use your animal to
    attack
    your opponent(s) by surprise.

    4. Turtle
Descriptor: "Use its shell for defense!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 30 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Mediocre
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-The Turtle DOES NOT make you invulnerable.
-The Turtle can reduce the damage you may receive from
    opponents'
    attacks.

    5. Lion
    Descriptor: "Makes you invincible!"
    Rarity: Common
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 30 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Use this opportunity to attack your opponents with no
    mercy since
they will be unable to deliver a counter attack to you due
    to your
    invincibility.
-Try de-activating all the Egg Bombs during the time you
    are
invincible so they don't cause any trouble for you later
    on.

    6. Dice
Descriptor: "Drops everyone's health to 1!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: All Opponents
    Limit: 1 Minute
    Damage: 90%
    Range: All of Stage
    Advantage: Good/Terrible
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-Remember the Health Drop is NOT permanent! Just try to run
    away
from your opponents as much as possible without letting
    them use the
    Dice to their advantage.
-Try defeating as enemies as you can as you can easily take
    advantage
    of the Dice this way.
-Be careful of your opponents, especially those with Egg
    Animals
backing them up. They can easily take advantage of this
    item as well so
    watch your back.

    7. Super Fruit
    Descriptor: "Instantly raises any egg!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: All Eggs
    Limit: 1 Minute
    Damage: N/A
    Range: All of Stage
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-It would be wise to observe the level and scan for the
    best eggs that are
found on the level at the time so you can hatch them
    quickly as soon as
    you use the Super Fruit.
-Try using it when you're right in front of an egg so you
    can hatch more
    eggs.
-Try hatching as many eggs as you can to fully take
    advantage of the
    Super Fruit.

    8. Tiger
Descriptor: "Breaks all eggs other than yours!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: All Eggs
    Limit: Once
    Damage: KO
    Range: All of Stage
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Just like with the Hawk, the best time to use this would
    be as soon as
you see on of your opponents have a Sonic Team or a Rainbow
    Egg.
-Try using the Tiger whenever you see a character with an
    egg that has
a bomb to protect yourself from harm in the future.

    9. Sheep
    Descriptor: "Counting makes you sleep...?"
    Rarity: Common
    Affects: All Opponents
    Limit: 10 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Remember, once they are touched by an animal, a bomb, or
    have damage
inflicted upon them, they will regain consciousness.
-Try placing an Egg Bomb around one of your opponents. If
    they have
an Egg Animal hatched, the Animal could inadvertently set
    it off!
Or, the opponent could set it off himself if you place it
    close enough.

    10. Hawk
Descriptor: "Breaks all other eggs with wind!"
    Rarity: Common
    Affects: All Eggs
    Limit: Once
    Damage: KO
    Range: All of Stage
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-The best time to use this (and also the most frustrating
    time to
use this for your opponents) would be as soon as you see on
    of your
opponents have a Sonic Team or a Rainbow Egg and they have
    beaten
you to it. At least TRY to get it from them instead of
    letting it
go to waste but once the Egg Gauge reaches either 3/4 or
    Full, then
    use the Hawk.
-Try using the Hawk whenever you see a character acquiring
    an egg
that has a bomb or an apparel item. That'll also get your
    opponents mad.

    11. Fox
    Descriptor: "Steal someone else's items!"
    Rarity: Common
    Affects: Opponent
    Limit: Once
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Common
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Remember the Boo in Mario Kart 64. Think of the Fox as a
    spoof off of
that. It goes without saying, then, that whenever a
    character gets
an item like a Stopwatch, a Large Butterfly, a Thorn Egg,
    or
(especially) a Super Fruit, using the Fox then and there
    would be
    quite advantageous.
-Be advised that when playing with multiple opponents like
    3 or 4,
you may receive an item from a character you may not have
    wanted it
from. Try using the Fox, in such a case, as soon as a
    character hatches an
    item.

    12. Large Butterfly
Descriptor: "Replenishes a lot of health!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: Self
    Limit: Once
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-When you reach half of your HP remaining, that would be
    the best time
to use it. Don't waste it when you'll only restore one
    Comb!

    13. Stopwatch
Descriptor: "Time stops for everyone else!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: All Opponents
    Limit: 5 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: All of Stage
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Use it when you're near one or more opponents so you can
    fully take
    advantage of their immobility.

    14. Butterfly
    Descriptor: "Replenishes a little health!"
    Rarity: Very Common
    Affects: Self
    Limit: Once
    Damage: N/A
    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Average
    Rating: 3/5
    Tips:
-Even if you're practically full on Health, use this item
    since it
doesn't let you recover that much Health.

    (e)	Bombs

    1. Bomb
Descriptor: "You can blow up anything!"
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Damage: KO
    Explosion Range: Large
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Whatever ability you use, whether it is Egg Shoot or Egg
    Dunk, the
bomb will ignite so use that knowledge to your advantage.
-Try catching your opponents by surprise by standing atop a
platform then activating it when they least expect it.
-Be advised that the bomb takes like about a second or so
    before
it will ignite so act quickly so your opponents won't get
    away.

    2. Chick Bomb
    Descriptor: "Chases your target!"
    Rarity: Common
    Damage: KO
    Explosion Range: Medium
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Even though it is homing, still try to aim carefully and
    use
discernment when firing the Bomb since it can crash into
    walls easily.
-You'd be surprised at how many times I had to say this but
just so we're clear, after hatching the Bomb, press the B
    Button
to pick it up, then B again
    to throw it.
-Try firing the bomb from a high platform to catch your
    opponents
    by surprise.

    3. Egg Bomb
Descriptor: "Everyone sees it as a normal egg!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Damage: KO
    Explosion Range: Medium
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Placing this item, near an Egg Nest, as to not make it so
    obvious,
would prove to be helpful for your opponents are more
    likely to
    activate it.
-The only disadvantage that comes with this bomb is the
    fact that it
will always appear as a clone of the egg for Rikol.

    (f)	Sonic Team

***Note: The "Rarity" section for each Egg is based on the
    rarity
of Sonic Team eggs, not for all Eggs in general.

    1. Sonic
    Descriptor: "Sonic from Sonic DX!"
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Random (Bounces off Walls)
    Advantage:
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Sonic can run all over the place! Try standing atop a high
platform, then, when you see an opponent, use his
    abilities.

    2. Tails
    Descriptor: "Tails from Sonic DX!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-I would recommend waiting or hiding in a corner in the
arena you are situated on, whilst holding the L Trigger.
Then, once an opponent walks by, use Tails' attacks right
    away.
-Using Tails' abilities may take a while to master since
he attacks in a linear direction. Just keep trying!

    3. Knuckles
    Descriptor: "Knuckles from Sonic DX!"
    Rarity: Very Common
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Medium
    Path: Homing
    Advantage:
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Knuckles' attacks are reminiscent to that of Oritta's.
Just try to worry about your proximity to opponents rather
than worrying about homing in on them.

    4. Chao
Descriptor: "Chao are born from eggs, too!"
    Rarity: Common
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-Try bouncing Chao off walls to surprise your opponents.
-The wave Chao leaves as an after-effect can still KO
    opponents.
    Try anticipating your opponents' movements.
-Observe and see whenever your opponents are utilizing the
Egg Rings. Anticipate their landing place and then strike!

    5. Rappy
Descriptor: "So cute, yet so fast!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Good
    Rating: 4/5
    Tips:
-If you see an opponent in the corner of your eye, utilize
Rappy right away for it takes a while for Rappy to build
    momentum.

    6. Kapu Kapu
Descriptor: "Where are the Chu Chus?!
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Random (Bounces off walls)
    Advantage:
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Pirates Island may be the best place to utilize Kapu Kapu.
    The
ground area, specifically, since Kapu Kapu can bounce off
    walls
and this is where most opponents are anyways.
-Kapu Kapu can be quite useful when you are atop a
    platform.
Use his abilities when an unsuspecting opponent walks by.

    7. NIGHTS
    Descriptor: "NIGHTS Into Dreams..."
    Rarity: Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Perfection isn't key here, that's what NIGHTS is for.
    NIGHTS
attacks in a linear direction, like Biboo does, but, unlike
    Biboo,
    NIGHTS attacks very quickly.

    8. Amigo
    Descriptor: "Viva Samba! Viva Amigo!"
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Homing
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Aim carefully and with Amigo's speed, you'll be successful
    in
    eliminating your opponents.

    (g)	Normal

    1. Bat
Descriptor: "Vampire bat that sucks blood!"
    Rarity: Common
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 10 Seconds

    Range: N/A
    Advantage: Terrible
    Rating: 0/5 (Self)
            2/5 (Others)
    Tips:
-Simply put, don't get the Normal Egg at all. You know
    it'll
either have nothing in it or it'll just lead to your
    detriment.

    2. Crow
Descriptor: "It will steal your light!"
    Rarity: Rare
    Affects: Self
    Limit: 30 Seconds
    Damage: N/A
    Range: Large
    Advantage: Terrible
    Rating: 0/5 (Self)
            5/5 (Others)
    Tips:
-If an opponent has been affected by this Egg, use their
    sight
deficiency to your advantage by either attacking them by
    surprise,
getting Eggs they may not know about, or place Egg Bombs
    where
they may not be able to see them.
-Simply put, don't get the Normal Egg at all. You know
    it'll
either have nothing in it or it'll just lead to your
    detriment.

    (h)	Super

    1. Super Clippen
Descriptor: "It has the power of the rainbow!"
    Rarity: Very Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Far
    Path: Straight
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Super Clippen's after-effect can still KO enemies. Using
    it
on multiple opponents simultaneously would help you quite a
    bit,
    especially in Time Battle.
-In Sand Ruins, using him in the underground area will lead
    you
to victory, provided that your opponents are in that area.
-In the first Forest Village Arena, you may be able to hit
three to four opponents if you use him near the middle of
    the
stage or off to one corner.

    2. Super Recky
Descriptor: "It has the power of the rainbow!"
    Rarity: Extremely Rare
    Limit: 5
    Damage: KO
    Range: Very Far
    Path: Zig-Zag
    Advantage: Excellent
    Rating: 5/5
    Tips:
-Using Super Recky on multiple opponents simultaneously
    will prove
to be beneficial especially in Time Battle.
-Use Super Recky wisely. He's the rarest Egg in the game so
you'd want to use him to your full advantage.

    15. FAQ

Q: Can you find Sonic Team eggs in the Battle Mode stages?
A: Yes, you can, but look hard and find them before your
    opponents because they rarely appear.

Q: Are there any secret characters to unlock?
A: No, all the characters for Battle Mode are unlocked from
    the start.

Q: Is it true that you can race and even play some of the
Mini-Game Salesman's games in Battle Mode?
A: That would've been an excellent touch, but no.

Q: Do you have to find eggs in Story Mode to be able to use
    them in Story Mode?
A: No, every single Egg (with the exception of the Chicken
    Suit
and the Chicken Elder Eggs) can be found within Battle Mode
whether you've discovered them in Story Mode or not.

Q: Do some of the Crows appear in Battle Mode?
A: No, you only battle with you and your friends. None of
    the
Crows, the bosses, the Baby Chicks, or the Chicken Elders
    make
    an appearance in this
    mode.

Q: Who is the best character to use?
A: There isn't really a "best" character. Each character
    has their
own strengths and weaknesses but only when it comes to
    speed and
it's not that much of a difference. Other than that, the
characters are pretty much the same.

Q: Does everyone have to select a different character or
    can
there be two of each (for instance, two Billy's)?
A: Everyone must select a different character than their
    opponents.

Q: Have you yourself beaten the game?
A: What does that have to do with this FAQ? Anyway, to
    answer
your question, no, I am not done the game, in fact, I just
    got
it recently and I only need 6 more emblems (including the
    four hidden ones).

Q: How do you lock-on to opponents?
A: By holding the L Trigger.

Q: Which type of game is the most fun?
A: To be honest, it depends on both your skill and the
    skill
of your opponents. If your opponents are somewhat younger
    than
you are, I'd suggest Hatch Battle but Survival is
    definitely
the best for obvious reasons. Time Battle just isn't as
    fun.

Q: What are the worst and the best levels in the
    game?
A: It goes without saying that the first Forest Village
    level
is the worst and, personally, I think that both Circus Park
and Sand Ruin are equally great. Next would be Giant
    Palace.

Q: Is it true that the Rooster Call can be
    used to attack your opponents?
A: That is only partially true. Yes, it can be used to
    attack
your enemies but it only stuns them and it doesn't make
    them
lose any health (which is a good thing; using the Rooster
    Call
as a means of decreasing someone's health would be very
    lame).

Q: If you are using the Eggs alone, what is the best
    ability
    to use on your opponents?
A: None of them. Egg Shoot, Dunk, Dash, Driver, and Bounce
    Jump
all make your opponents lose only half of one full stock.

Q: Can you find those "Egg Rings" inside Battle Mode?
A: Yes. The blue Egg Ring can be found in Circus Park and
Giant Palace whilst the Green Egg Ring (Trampoline) can be
found in Circus Park and Sand Ruin.

Q: Do all the animals inflict the same amount of damage?
A: Look in the "Eggs" section for more information on that.
    Obviously, you missed it!

Q: I heard that, in addition to the 8 levels, there has
    been
a rumor going around that there is a 9th level that can be
    unlocked once you...
A: Don't go any further. This rumor is false and there are
only 8 levels to unlock. That's it!

Q: Is it true that Battle Mode was originally the main idea
    behind Billy Hatcher?
A: Well, that is only partly true. Yuji Naka stated in an
interview with Nintendo Power that both Single and
Multiplayer modes were given attention but Multiplayer was
to be given more attention than Story.

Q: What is with those Red Bandanas on the animals?!
A: To tell you the truth, I'm trying to figure that out
    myself.

Q: Did you notice any Goofs in the Manual?
A: Yeah, I did. Refer to page 17 and view the second
    screenshot.
It shows the Battle Mode menu. Look under the "Stage"
    section
and you'll notice that Circus Park is unlocked, yet, there
    is
still one level before it - Blizzard Castle - that has a
    question
mark. This is a goof since you need to unlock Blizzard
    Castle
before you can access Circus Park! Just an interesting
    note.

Q: Why isn't there a Giant Egg at the Giant Palace?
A: Don't ask me. How should I know? Besides, would it look
    very
appealing for a Giant Egg to be aloft at the top of the
    stage?
Then only the bottom part of the level would be accessible
    and that
wouldn't be AS fun. 'Guess they didn't put it there for a
    reason.

Q: What is the most common egg in the game?
A: That's a tie between Peliwan and Clippen (and possibly
    Richie).

Q: What is the hardest egg in the game to find?
A: Super Recky without a doubt. I've only found him and
Super Clippen twice each thus far. Super Clippen at the
    Giant Palace
and Blizzard Castle whilst I found Super Recky at the first
    Forest Village level.

Q: Do the Sonic Team Eggs come at a certain time
    in the game?
A: From what I know, no. They come as about as random as
    any
    other egg in the game.

Q: Can the GBA Eggs be used in Battle Mode?
A: Is Sonic slow? Of course not! Honestly, what purpose
    would they serve?

    17. Ideas

    (a)	Eggs

Some potential Eggs I thought of were :

-Crow Eggs (Being able to hatch Crows as well)
-"Fruit Magnet" (Nearby fruit comes to your Egg)
-"Black Hole" (Sucks all nearby opponents in)
-"Snail" (Makes everyone else go very slow)
-"Moon" (Makes the level dark for everyone but you)
-"Radio" (Once activated, can stun your opponent for 10
    seconds)
-"Ice Bomb (Once activated, freezes all opponents
    with ice for 10 seconds)
-"Brick Wall" (Creates a brick wall around an egg
Preventing your opponents from getting it)
-"Ember Trap" (Creates a trap around an egg so that Flames
must be cleared using a Water character to get the Egg)
-Some Sort of "Combo Egg" where you can combine
2 Item Eggs and use them simultaneously

    (b)	Modes

A few ideas for other battle modes I thought of are:

    -Bowling (Maybe not...)
-Crow Battle (Defeat Crows before Opponents)
-Protect (Free the Elder without getting attacked by
    Opponents)
    -Coin Collect (Mini-Game Salesman Games)
    -Egg and Seek (Hatch a Randomly-Selected Egg;
    Hatch Specified Number to Win)
-Team Battle (Tag Team against another)
-Egg Race (Simply race to the Goal)
-Bumper Eggs (Knock each other off the Edge)
-Sudden Death (A whole new mode in which all opponents
start off with half a comb left.)

    (c)	Sonic Team Eggs

A few Sonic Team characters they could've incorporated in
    the
    game could've been:

    -Amy (Okay, it would've worked)
-Shadow (Not a bad idea; Chaos Control)
-Aiai (Definitely would've been a GREAT idea)

    -Rouge? (What could she do...?)
    -Big? (Fishing Rod...uh....)
    -Cream? (Cheese...)
-Gamma? (Lasers? That wouldn't go well...)

    (d)	Miscellaneous

    A few good add-ons would've been:

-Being able to adjust the Split Screen
-Having to find the Chicken Suits before using the Eggs
-Being able to use the Crows
-Having to unlock Rolly, Chick and Bantam before being able
    to use them
-Putting Egg Rails in some of the Levels

    18. Thank You

Thanks, first of all, goes out to SEGA for creating such a
    great
game. You have my thanks! A follow-up to Billy Hatcher
    would
probably please a lot of fans. That or including him in
    Sonic
Riders. Second, thanks goes out to SEGA again for their
    manual
for Billy Hatcher as it contained some info I used
    periodically for
this guide. Thanks! Thanks to both my sister and my friend
    (you know
who you are) for being patient with me whilst I took notes
    about
the eggs during our battles. Thanks! Thanks to Chamelion
    for their
exemplary guide which made things a little easier on me as
    far as
the Descriptors for each Egg went as opposed to
    continuously going
back to the game and/or writing them done which would be
    quite
time-consuming. Thanks to YOU, also, for reading this
    guide.
"Merci beaucoup" to all the above people. You helped make
    this
    guide possible. Thanks!
