1. Introduction
###############################################################################

Thank you for choosing to read my Pokemon Box: Ruby and Sapphire FAQ. I hope
this guide gives you some assistance in using this game's features. I've
written a Game Overview, and much more. Beware of the spoilers, though.
Pokemon Box is a software tool for organising and sorting Pokemon which you
have collected in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen. The game's
features are similar to those of Professor Oak's Lab and Game Boy Tower from
N64's Stadium, but some have been ommitted in favour of new additions.

You can play Ruby/Sapphire on your television and transfer Pokemon without
having to trade them. Unfortunately, Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen players can't
play their games on the television, but they can still transfer Pokemon. You
can also change the order of your Pokemon and check each of their stats. You
can also create your own stage to place your Pokemon on and then view them on
the screen.

3.02 - GO TO POKEMON BOX
===============================================================================

When you are at the Title Screen, select 'Go To Pokemon Box' and follow the
instructions on the screen. Once the connection is confirmed, you'll be sent
to Brigette's Room. Brigette, the administrator of Pokemon Box, explains that
Box is an advanced remake of Hoenn's Pokemon storage system which was created
by her sister Lanette. There are 4 options (Arrange Boxes, Showcase, Save, and
Exit) to choose from. 'Exit' takes you back to the Title Screen. 'Save' records
all the contents of the Memory Boxes, Advance Boxes, and Showcases. Pictures
you took in Adventure and Brigette's Room are also saved.

Arrange Boxes
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

If you want to organise your Pokemon, select 'Arrange Boxes' and you'll be
taken to the Arrange Boxes screen. In addition to organising Boxes in the GBA
games along with your Party Pokemon (referred to as Advance Boxes), you can
organise Boxes in Pokemon Box (referred to as Memory Boxes). Advance Boxes are
displayed at the bottom of the screen, while Memory Boxes are shown at the top.
Each of the 25 Memory Boxes store up to 60 Pokemon. A total of 1500 Pokemon
can be stored on a Memory Card. Press the Y Button to view a selected
Pokemon's number, level and gender. Press the X Button to display the Arrange
Boxes Menu. There are 4 options (Grab, Summary, Mark, and Go to List) to
choose from. When you set the cursor on the name of a Box, you can press the A
Button to open the Box Menu. There are 3 options (Jump, Wallpaper, and Name)
to choose from.

Grab
----
You can use this option to grab a Pokemon and move it. You don't have to
select 'Grab' to move Pokemon, though. If you hold down the A Button and drag
the cursor, you can grab and move multiple Pokemon. By using this feature,
you can deposit Pokemon in a Memory Box and then give them to friends without
having to trade. This is useful for completing a Pokedex more quickly and
easily. Since only one Game Pak can be used at a time, you must first turn
the GameCube's power off. Then, remove your cartridge from the GBA and insert
your friend's cartridge. Finally, turn the power back on and select 'Go To
Pokemon Box' to confirm the new cartridge, allowing your friend to take Pokemon
from a Memory Box. If you store all the Pokemon that you've collected in
Memory Boxes, you can start your GBA game over from the beginning without
losing any Pokemon.

Summary
-------
You can use this option to check the profiles of Pokemon. Box's profiles
contain data on Pokemon Info, Pokemon Skills, Battle Moves, Conditions and
Contest Moves. This information is useful if your GBA game's profiles don't
contain data on Conditions, Contest Moves and Ribbons (specifically FireRed/
LeafGreen).

Mark
----
You can use this option to put Marks on Pokemon. If you put a Mark on a
Pokemon, you can gather together Pokemon with the same Mark to make finding
them much easier.

Go to List
----------
You can use this option to sort Pokemon in your Memory Boxes and Advance Boxes.
The sort criteria consists of Alphabetical Mode, Pokedex Mode, Type, Level,
Gender, Move, Ability, Mark, etc.

Jump
----
You can use this option to jump to a specific Box without having to switch the
screen multiple times.

Wallpaper
---------
You can use this option to change the wallpaper of a Memory Box.

Name
----
You can use this option to name a Box.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Showcase
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

If you want to display your Pokemon as pieces, select 'Showcase'. You can
create a stage and place Pokemon from your Memory Boxes on the stage in the
form of pieces. When you are asked to create a stage, choose your favourite
one. Once you have selected a stage, you can place your Pokemon on the stage.

When you want to place Pokemon on the stage, choose 'Place Piece' and press the
X Button anywhere. Set the cursor on a Pokemon and grab it to transform it
into a piece. If you hold down the A Button and drag the cursor, you can
transform multiple Pokemon into pieces. If you select 'Edit Stage', you can
edit the pattern and background of a stage, the design of a piece, etc. Five
stages can be saved.

===============================================================================
			3.03 - GO TO ADVENTURE
===============================================================================

When you are at the Title Screen, select 'Go To Adventure' and follow the
instructions on the screen. Once the connection is confirmed, you'll be able
to play Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire on the television (similar to the Game Boy
Player). Note that you can't trade Pokemon, mix records, make Pokéblocks or
participate in Pokemon Contests with friends when you are using this feature.
If you want to stop playing the game, press the Z Button and select 'Quit'.

###############################################################################
4. Side Quests
###############################################################################

This section lists the side quests in the game.

===============================================================================
			4.01 - BONUS EGGS
===============================================================================

When you store a certain amount of Pokemon from a single Game Pak, Brigette
will give you special Pokemon Eggs and place them in a Memory Box. These
Pokemon hatch with a Special Move that the Pokemon wouldn't normally be able to
learn. The Special Moves can't be taught to other Pokemon via breeding.

When you first start the game, you receive a Swablu that knows False Swipe.
After storing 100 Pokemon, you get a Zigzagoon with Extremespeed. When
500 Pokemon are stored, you obtain a Skitty with Pay Day. Upon storing 1499
Pokemon, you acquire a Pichu with Surf (a homage to the Pikachu from Stadium).
It is not required to use the Memory Card that comes with the game to obtain
these bonuses.

===============================================================================
			4.02 - TAKE PICTURES
===============================================================================

When you are playing Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire in Adventure, you can take pictures
of frames. Press the Z Button and select 'Take Pictures'. The picture you
took can be used for the wallpaper in the Memory Boxes. Once the picture is
registered, 'My Wallpaper' will be added to the Special category of the
Wallpaper section. If you go to Brigette's Room, you also take pictures of the
Arrange Boxes and Showcase screens.

5. Frequently Asked Questions
###############################################################################

Q: Can I transfer Pokemon with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen?
A: Yes. You must obtain the Pokedex and save your GBA game at a Pokemon Centre
first, though. In addition, Emerald players need to have entered the Hall
of Fame and obtained the National Pokedex, and FireRed/LeafGreen players
need to have completed the Pokemon Network Centre's Network Machine on One
   Island.

Q: Can this game update the Berry Program in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire to
   prevent/fix the Berry Glitch?
A: Yes. The Berry Program will be automatically updated when you connect your
Game Boy Advance to Controller Socket 2.

Q: Can I transfer Pokemon from Colosseum/XD?
A: Yes. However, these Pokemon must be traded to the GBA games and then
   transferred to Box.

Q: Can this game unlock the National Pokedex?
A: No. If you have Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, you must trade with Pokemon
Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen to unlock the National Pokedex. Note that
Emerald players need to have entered the Hall of Fame and received the
National Pokedex, and FireRed/LeafGreen players need to have completed the
Pokemon Network Centre's Network Machine on One Island, to enable Ruby/
Sapphire players to trade with them.

Q: In what numerical order can I sort Pokemon by in Pokedex Mode?
A: It depends on whether you have obtained the National Pokedex. If you have
the National Dex, you can sort Pokemon by their national edition numbers
but not their Kanto or Hoenn region ones. If you lack this Pokedex, you
can sort Pokemon by their Hoenn region numbers but not their national
   edition ones.

Q: If I can't obtain the National Pokedex in Ruby/Sapphire, can Kanto and
Johto Pokemon that originate from Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen/Colosseum/XD be
stored in Box and then transferred to Ruby/Sapphire?
A: Yes. Their Pokedex numbers won't be displayed, but you can still transfer
these Pokemon. If you sort your Pokemon in Pokedex Mode, the Kanto and
Johto ones will be listed at the bottom, since you lack the National Dex.

Q: Where can I purchase Box?
A: In Europe, you could get it using 4000 stars from Nintendo of Europe's Star
Catalogue or by buying the Pokemon Colosseum Mega Pak. The European version
comes with a free Memory Card 59. In Australia, you could purchase Pokemon
Box for $50. The Australian version comes with a free Memory Card 59 and
Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable. In North America, you could buy
it in the New York Pokemon Centre or from Pokemoncenter.com. However, Box
is no longer available in the above regions. Your best bet is to buy the
game from Amazon.com or its international affiliates.

Q: Is this game compatible with Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal?
A: No. This game is ONLY compatible with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/
   LeafGreen.

Q: Can I use any Memory Card with Box?
A: Yes.

Q: When I deposit a Pokemon in a Memory Box, I can't withdraw it. Why?
Only the OT (Original Trainer) with the same ID number of a Pokemon can
withdraw it initially. If you're not that OT, your Pokedex must have
   registered at least 100 Pokemon.

Q: Can I store items?
A: No. You can give items to your Pokemon, though.

Q: Can Pokemon, such as Kadabra and Haunter, evolve if they are stored in Box?
A: No. This is considered a transfer and not a trade, so these Pokemon will
   not evolve when transferred.

Q: Can I clone Pokemon by using Box?
A: No.

Q: Can I move my Box save to another Memory Card?
A: No.

Q: I transferred [number of Pokemon] to Box, but I didn't get [name of
   Pokemon]. Why?
A: The Original Trainer must transfer [number of Pokemon] from the same
cartridge to get [name of Pokemon]. You don't have to own 100-1499 Pokemon
with the same ID number, though. Therefore, you can transfer Pokemon from
multiple GBA games to one game and then move them to Box. Since you can't
have 1499 Pokemon in one Game Pak at once, you can only transfer 426
Pokemon at a time, so you can't use this trick to get Skitty or Pichu
   instantly.

Q: How many blocks of a Memory Card are required to create a Save File?
A: 59.

Q: Can Pokemon receive extra Exp. Points by using Box?
A: Yes. If you deposit a Pokemon in a Memory Box and a different Trainer
withdraws it, the Pokemon will receive extra Exp. Points.

Q: Can the happiness of Pokemon be reset by using Box?
A: Yes. If you deposit a happy Pokemon in a Memory Box and a different Trainer
withdraws it, the happiness will be reset. For example, if you trade a
happy Blissey from LeafGreen to Emerald via Box, its happiness will be
   reset.

Q: Is linking GBA games with Box region locked?
A: Yes. Both the Box disc and GBA cart must be of the same region. However, it
doesn't matter which region the GameCube or GBA themselves are. You'll need a
mod (certain boot discs might work too) if your Box disc and GC system don't
   match.

Q: I can't store my Party Pokemon. Why?
A: 1) You only have 1 Pokemon in your party.
   2) A Pokemon is holding Mail.
   3) After storing a Pokemon, only an Egg would be left in your party.
   4) You only have fainted Pokemon in your party.

Q: I've checked the four requirements for transferring my Party Pokemon (see
above), but I still can't transfer. What's the deal?
A: When you were connecting your GameCube Game Boy Advance cable, your Save
File may have got corrupted due to a bad connection. If your Save File is
corrupted, it will re-load your previous save when you continue your saved
game. If you save your progress, your Save File won't be corrupted anymore.
Corruption can happen if you use a damaged Game Boy Advance or an unofficial
GBA GC cable. Make sure you only use an official GBA GC cable and never use
   a damaged GBA to connect.

Q: Can I play Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen in Adventure?
A: No. This is due to the fact that Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen were unavailable
at the time of Box's creation, so the game only contains data for Ruby/
   Sapphire.

Q: Can I store Mail?
A: No.

Q: Can I play Ruby/Sapphire in the 2x-4x speed modes?
A: No.

Q: Can I trade Pokemon between two Game Paks?
A: No.

Q: Can I access an interactive Pokedex?
A: No. You can use the Pokedex in your GBA game, but it lacks the detail
   demonstrated in Stadium.

Q: Can I get multiple [name of Pokemon] Eggs by depositing [number of Pokemon],
withdrawing them and storing them again?
A: No. The data concerning Eggs is recorded in your GBA game's Save File, so
you can only acquire 1 of each Egg per GBA game, unless you start a new
   game in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen.

Q: If Box is compatible with Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen, why doesn't its text
   mention those games?
A: This is due to the fact that Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen were unavailable at
the time of Box's creation, so the game only contains text relating to Ruby/
   Sapphire.

Q: If Box is compatible with Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen, why doesn't its
   Instruction Booklet mention those games?
A: This is due to the fact that Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen were unavailable at
the time of Box's creation, so the game's Instruction Booklet only mentions
   Ruby/Sapphire.
