2 - What are Party Members?
===============================================================================

Party Members are characters that join you in your quest and can fight along
side you in battle. They can help you fight battles, find secrets, flip
switches, jump gaps, and many other things in the game.

Each side-kick has 5 of their own moves:

1 primary main move
1 move that requires FP
2 moves that are acquired by leveling up (see section 3)
1 "in-game" move that cannot be used in battles

During a battle, you can switch you and your side-kicks battle order by
pressing [Y]. In a battle, a sidekick can only: Use their attacks, Use items
you are carrying, and use Tactics. They CAN NOT use special attacks, only
Mario can do that. If a side-kick dies in battle, the game is NOT over. A
Game Over only occurs when Mario is out of HP. Also in battle, party
members can be switched by either Mario or the current side-kick himself.

When Mario levels up, his sidekicks do not. Sidekicks only gain strength
by leveling up themselves.

As for the in-game moves, those are used to help Mario in dungeons or
any place but in battles. Party Members can be switched at any
out-of-battle time by pressing Start then Party or Left on the grey control
pad. From there you can view their stats, HP, or descriptions of them and
their moves.

Party Members that can fight in battles are with you permanently, you can't
get rid of them. Only one party member can be in-game or in battle with you
at a time.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about your Party Members:

Q: How many party members are there in the game?
A: There are a total of 7. 6 that you need to complete the story line, and 1
that you can get as an extra.

Q: Who is the most powerful party member?
A: This is all a matter of opinion, each one has their own strengths and
weaknesses, and each can help you in different ways while defeating enemies or
solving dungeon puzzles.

Q: In what order do you get the side-kicks?
A: Here's the basic order:

Goombella
Koops
Flurrie
Yoshi
Vivian
[Ms. Mowz]
Bobbery
[Ms. Mowz]

Ms. Mowz is an exception and the only party member you DO NOT have to get to
finish the game. Ms. Mowz can join your party after Chapter 4, either before
or after you get Bobbery.

Q: How do i make my partners stronger?
A: See section 3.

===============================================================================
3 - Party Member Leveling Up
===============================================================================

-The First Time-
Go visit Merlin the Magician in Rogueport. His house is on the East side, just
to the left of the Professor's House. Once inside Merlin can level up your
partners for the cost of 3 Shine Sprites per partner. Once leveled up, each
party member will receive:

10 additional HP
1 new move

-The Second Time-
After you have leveled up each of your partners once, Merlin says he cannot
level them up anymore and gives you a clue. You may not understand the clue,
but what he wants you to do is "go beyond a black chest". You need to have
Admiral Bobbery to complete this. Go back to Hooktail's castle in Pedal Meadows
and go to the room where you got cursed for the second time. From there, go
right until you reach the room where the spikes where falling in on you, but
don't worry that doesn't happen again. Go to the right of the room until you
reach the wall. You will see a crack that you can blow up with Bobbery. Throw
him at the crack, go inside, hit the block, and a chest will appear. Inside
the chest is an "Up Arrow", at first it seems useless but this is really what
Merlin needs to level up your partners a second time. Go out of the castle,
back to Rogueport and visit Merlin again. Talk to him and give him the Up
Arrow. He'll then somehow realize how to level up your partners again. Once
leveled up, each party member will receive:

10 additional HP
1 new move

The cost is still 3 Shine Sprites per partner. There are a total of 42 Shine
Sprites in the game, which is the exact amount you need to level all your
party members up 2 times.

After all members are leveled up twice, they will have more HP, stronger moves
that can be used to defeat enemies quicker, and a less chance of dying in
battle.

hole. You've now fallen into Admiral Bobbery's house. Talk to him and he
denies you. Then go out the door and to the Inn. Talk to the bartender and
he'll say he knew Bobbery and he'll give you a "Letter from Scarlette" which

M s . M o w z
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

full of treasure? Well at a point in the game she can actually join your party.
After Chapter 4, go the Trouble/Worry center to the right off the Professor's
house. Take on the "worry" posted by "???". Now go into the Inn at Rogueport.
Go to the second level of the Inn and out the door to the left. You're now on
top of an arch-way. Walk straight (the door to the right is a badge shop you
can go to if you want) and jump on to the rooftop. Walk to the end and talk to
her. She wants you to find some type of rare badge for her. The badge is in

originally fought Hooktail in. Go to the center and use Flurry to blow away
an invisible page in the middle of the room, revealing a treasure chest

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y o s h i*
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tp hop on his back and move more quickly. Press [A] when riding to float
through the air.

-Where you get Him-
In Glitzville, in the Glitz Pit, after you go up against the "Iron Clefts",
there is no way to win. So either run away during the battle or just let
them kill you (you won't get a Game Over). After loosing the battle, the Yoshi
Egg you have will hatch and join your party, which is how you eventaully beat
those two. If you don't have the yoshi egg yet, go outside after winning a
certain battle and a yoshi egg will be hopping around the hot dog stand. Catch
it and it will be yours, and follow you around.

*While the side-kick IS a yoshi, you are able to name it when it first
hatches, therefore it's name will not always be Yoshi.
