Chapter 8 and Pit Bosses
Miniboss: Dark Bones and Dry Bones
Max HP: 20/8
When Fought: In a large room in the Palace of Shadow, examine the Dark Bones and it will come to life. chase it throughout the room until you touch it, starting the battle.
Attacks: Bone Throw: Throws a bone at either character. Superguarding will NOT damage them.
Multibone: Throws multiple, weaker, faster bones. The Dark Bones throws 3 for 3 damage each and the Dry Bones throw 4 for 2 damage each.
Build: A new Dry Bones is created.
Revive: If not killed with fire or Showstopper, they can revive after a few turns if all are not defeated.
Strategy: Start the fight wiht Vivian. Have Mario focus on the Dark Bones and Vivian use Fiery Junx. After she uses it twice, all the Dry Bones will be defeated with no chance of revival and the Dark Bones will be under half health if Mario dealt damage. Then, use any attack from Mario and Shade Fist to defeat the Dark Bones, but if a new Dry Bones is created, have Mario attack it, then Vivian should use Fiery Jinx.
Brother of Hooktail: Gloomtail
Max HP: 80
When Fought: After entering the area with the tower, keep going to the right. At the end of the series of rooms, you fight Gloomtail after a Save Block.
Attacks: Stomp: Stomps on one. Superguarding will NOT damage Gloomtail.
Poison Breath: Damages all, with chance of Poison. Superguarding will NOT damage Gloomtail.
Bite: Bites the one in front. NOTE: IMPOSSIBLE TO SUPERGUARD AGAINST.
Backflip: Causes the earth to violently shake, doing 10 damage to both. Superguarding will NOT damage Gloomtail.
Charge: Charges for...
MEGABREATH: 16 Damage to both. Superguarding will NOT damage Gloomtail.
Strategy: At the beginning of the fight, Gloomtail will only use the first three attacks. Trade blows until Gloomtail talks a little bit, at which point he'll use Backflip and add it to his attack choices. Trade blows some more until Gloomtail talks again, at which point he'll charge for Megabreath. This is the second most powerful attack in the game when not adjusted by status changing items, moves, and badges, so use Vivian's Veil. Trade blows until Gloomtail is defeated.
The Three Shadow Sirens: Beldam, Marilyn, and Doopliss
Max HP: 30/40/40
When Fought: After solving the Riddle Tower and unlocking the lower parts of Gloomtail's Corridor, they attack outside of the tower.

Fast: Gives the Turn to hersef, Marilyn, or Doopliss.
Poison: Poisons one.
Allergy: Makes someone immune to all statuses.
Marilyn: All attacks are upgraded from the first fight. Charge now increases her attack by 7.
Doopliss: Dive: Upgraded form of his attack when fought as ?????.
Copy: Copies Mario or his partner. As Mario, he can Jump or Hammer. He can use any basic partner attack.
Strategy: Beldam's status skills are the biggest threat here, so focus on her. After, take care of Marilyn. WARNING: Do NOT inflict move hindering status ailmenst on her, such as Confusion. She will spam Charge and can become more powerful than an Amazye Dayzee. After, finish off Doopliss.
Leader of the Secret Society of X-Nauts: Sir Grodus, His Staff, and Grodus X's.
Max HP: 50/Infinite/3
Attack: 7/7(They attack as one)/4
Defense: 1 (Increased by each Grodus X, 4 grants him invincibility)/1/0
When Fought: After entering the room with a Save Block and Heart Block, the next room will be a room with a short cutscene and some steps. Grodus is fought at the top of the stairs.
Attacks: NOT: No Superguarded attacks will deal damage.
Time Stop: Paralyzes both if not Guarded against.
Counter: Counters damage dealt to him.
Lightning: Lightning hits both.
Fire: Attacks both with fire for 6 damage. Chance of Burn.
Ice: Attacks both with Ice for 5 damage. Chance of Freeze.
Evade: Becomes Dodgy.
Summons Grodus X's: Summons two Grodus X's.
Grodus X Charge: The Grodus X charges at one.
Strategy: Start out with Flurrie or Vivian and use either Gale Force or fiery Jinx to take out the Grodus X's. Then, attack Grodus with everything you can. Repeat until he is defeated. In addition, certain moves can target his Staff, which will prevent him from attacking for one turn, but he'll still summon Grodus X's. If you have enough FP, simply alternate between jumping on it and using Firey Jinx until you run out of FP, then heal the FP and continue.
A King and His Assistant: Bowser and Kammy Koopa
Max HP: 70/50
When Fought: Immediately after defeating Grodus.
Attacks: Bowser: All attacks are upgraded from his first fight.
Kammy Koopa: Playstation Blast: Basic attack. Superguarding will NOT damage Kammy.
Heal: Heals either herself or Bowser for 8 HP.
Buff: Increases Attack for either her or Bowser.
Invisible: Makes her or Bowser invisible.
Strategy: Take Kammy out first. She's flying, so use an attack that can hit her to knock her down. After defeating Kammy, defeat Bowser. The main gimmick of this fight is that it's fought immediately after Grodus, so heal if you didn't Level Up after Grodus. It's a simple fight, though Kammy's spells get annoying.
FINAL BOSS: THE SHADOW QUEEN, HER HANDS, AND THE DEAD HANDS
Max HP: 150/5/8
Defense: 0 in first form, Infinite in second form, and 1 in third form/0/0
When Fought: Two rooms after Grodus, Bowser, and Kammy.
Attacks: NOTE: Superguarding will NOT damage anyone here.
Shadow Queen: Lightning: Fires lightning at one.
Power Lift: Boosts her Attack and Defense by three.
Breath: Breahes on both for 4 damage, chance of status depending on color breath. Only used in second and third forms.
Charge: Charges up for powerful attack. Only used in third form.
Dual Dark Waves: Comes right after charge and only used in third form. Deals 14 Damage to both.
Hands: HP Drain: Steals 7 HP from Mario or partner and gives them to the Shadow Queen.
Slap: Simply deals 7 HP of damage to one.
Dead Hands: Hidden Move: Brings one of you into the shadows and deals 3 damage four times. NOTE: CANNOT BE SUPERGUARDED.
Stampede: Same as Hidden Move, but different timing.
Full Heal: Only used in second form; empties the audience and fully heals the Queen.
Strategy: This is the final battle. In the first form, she only uses her Lightning and Power Lift. This form ends once she reaches 90 HP, however. If you bring her HP to 0 before hand, she'll instantly heal to 90 HP. After that, she'll be invincible as her second form starts. Keep attacking and defending until she brings out the Dead Hands, at which point she fully heals and her second form ends. After the cutscene, you'll be fully healed. Now, this is important. NO MATTER WHAT, AFTER PERFORMING THE FIRST THREE ACTION COMMANDS, YOU WILL GET FULLY HEALED. The Bingo will be rigged to give you three Shine Sprites the first time around, so go nuts. Since the weak point of the Queen is small, if you've fully upgraded Bobbery, use Art Attack on the Queen only twice and a perfect Bob-Ombast twice to deal massive damage to the Queen. After the third Bob-Ombast, you should be fully healed. Whenever she Charges, use Vivian's Veil. Your Power Lift is a must to endure her attacks. Keep attacking until the Queen goes down.
Optional Boss: The Oldest Dragon: BONETAIL
Max HP: 200
When Fought: The 100th floor of the Pit of 100 Trials.
Attacks: NOTE: NO SUPERGUARDED ATTACKS WILL HURT HIM.
Stomp: Stomps on one.
Breath: Uses different breath types, each color representing a different status: Purple=Attack Down, Green=Confusion, White=Sleep, Blue=Frozen.
Bite: Bites one. NOTE: THIS ATTACK IS UNSUPERGUARDABLE.
Roar: Heals 20 HP.
Strategy: The ultimate boss: Bonetail. Statistically stronger than the Shadow Queen and coming after the hardest area of the game, Bonetail is just as hard as the Shadow Queen was. Bonetail is really straightforward. Play it REALLY safe here and use your most powerful attacks, and remeber to put up a great offense AND defense. You'll need Ultra Shrooms, Jammin Jellies, possibly Jelly Ultras, Boo Sheets, Power Lift, and Sweet Feast at the LEAST to defeat him. Remember: Die, and you have to do the entire Pit all over. Good luck.
